#Other appearance details ; Naoko often teeters or becomes fatigued when she walks around too much and uses a wheelchair because of this, is prone to feeling sick when the weather is too hot, and she bruises extremely easy. She's also extremely underweight, and constantly cold to the touch. She has a book bag with her at all times, usually with snacks, band-aids, books, and other stuff.
#Clothing styles ; Naoko looks more like a child playing dress up than a teenage girl when wearing her school uniform. She wears her sister's old first year uniform, and it's about an entire size up from what she is. It hangs, awkward and perpetually wrinkly, off her small body. She usually wears a pair of black leggings with her uniform, since her socks never stay up.
Naoko's casual clothes draw attention to how little money her family has. Her wardrobe mainly consists of cheap sweaters, sneakers so worn that they're about to fall apart, and ill-fitting long tartan skirts. It's pretty obviously that everything she own is either hand-me-downs from her sister or out of charity bin. She always sports a charm bracelet on her left wrist. It's one of the only nice things she owns, and is very important to her.
#A more thorough description ;
Naoko is an extremely pretty girl. She resembles a porcelain doll, and she might as well be one with how fragile she is. She has a small, childlike face. Her milky pale skin is smooth and unblemished. Her emerald green eyes are sharp, and framed by naturally long and dark lashes. They always look narrowed (even though they're not), granting here a perpetually cold expression. It doesn't help that she rarely ever smiles. Her expression is often deadpan, and actually somewhat intimidated when she states right at you. It's like she's looking through your soul.
Her most striking feature is definitely her hair. She has unnaturally long, golden blonde princess-style hair that cascades down her back like a halo and curls at the end. She often gets compliments on it, but she doesn't share the same feelings that everyone else seems to have. She hates how high maintenance it is, becoming tangled very easily. She also has to be extremely careful walking so she doesn't trip on it. She would make rather have short hair, but unfortunately her mother won't let her cut it.
She is extremely underweight. It's very obvious, both from her toothpick-thin legs and the faint outline of her ribs that can be seen when she takes off her shirt. She looks as though you could snap her arm in half by simply grabbing it, and to be honest, you probably could. It also causes her to be very frail and become hurt easily, so she has tons of bruises and small cuts littering her arms and legs, often covered by band-aids. Naoko has been trying to gain weight, as per her doctor's request, but finds it difficult due to her high metabolism and the fact that she can't eat too much or else she feels sick.
#Personality ;Naoko is a quiet girl. She comes across as cold and aloof, and is often mistaken as stuck-up by her peers because of this. It doesn't help that she has a monotone voice and only ever speaks in short, blunt sentences. She isn't rude. Far from it, actually. She's so painfully formally polite towards everyone that it's kind of awkward. However, she isn't exactly nice either. She almost seems detached from the rest of the world — it always feels like she's standing at arm's lengths from other people. You could be standing right next to her, and yet, it will feel as though she's hundreds of miles away.
She actually isn't rude. She's just quiet and introverted, although most people seem to think those things are interchangeable. She also doesn't really show emotion on her face. This isn't out of discomfort or embarrassment or anything like that. She just doesn't ever really feel the urge to. She also feels as though trying to fake it makes her seem insincere, and this is the last thing she wants to be seen as by other people. That's why she's so blunt, too. You can't really depend on facial expressions or body language to determine her intentions, so to make it easier for everyone around her, she says exactly what she thinks and feels. It can make others think of her as rude, but people are going to assume that about her nobody what she does, and she'd rather be rude than confusing.
Her quietness isn't just towards people she's not familiar with. She's like this with family and friends too. Don't misunderstand, she loves the people close to her more than anything else in the world. She just doesn't show it in the traditional way. Her love language is a lot more subtle and quiet, although it becomes clear once you determine what that love language is. It's always having snacks in case anyone gets hungry, constant reminders to 'don't forget to eat something' and 'take care of yourself', remembering every little thing they've ever told her, holding their hand, etc. Small things, but things that can completely change somebody's perception of her if they saw her act like this. She can genuinely be one of the sweetest people in the world if you get to know her.
Naoko becomes very quickly attached to people. She's like a child, immediately trusting anyone who is even slightly nice to her and considering them her friend. Now, her naivety would usually make her an easy target for people with more impure intentions, but she is fortunately often exempt from this because most people cannot tell that she likes them. She can't even explain that she does, because people tend to avoid her because, well, they think she's rude. You wouldn't want to be around someone who's so aloof either, so she can't really blame them. When she does get a chance to explain herself, she will outright tell them that she likes them. Like I said, she's very honest about her emotions, and sees no point in hiding her feelings about someone if she wants to become friends with them.
#History ;Naoko was born into a poor family. They weren't completely poor — they had enough money to afford the basics and she never went hungry, but there budget was always tight. Because of the lack of money, most things she owns we're hand-me-downs from her older sister, Aoi. Not just clothes, but everything — toys, shoes, school supplies, etc. She rarely ever had anything that was her own, save for the few nice things she would receive on her birthday (which she always took extremely good care of, and refused to throw out even when they clearly needed to be).
Aoi always got new stuff. She was the oldest sibling, so she didn't have someone to give their old stuff to her. Granted, everything she owned was either extremely cheap or free, but Naoko didn't see that. All she saw was her older sister being given a ton of new things, while she was stuck with her scraps. This caused a lot of resentment towards her sister at a young age, but she fortunately got over that when she was old enough to understand why Aoi got new stuff and she didn't. Unfortunately, this resentment lasted a long time and their relationship is still sort of awkward and strained.
Naoko was around thirteen when her parents started expressing concern about her weight. They'd always known how small she was compared to other kids her age, but just chalked it up to the fact that they were both below average height too. They also knew she should've weighed a little bit more, but never really bothered because a lot of kids have high metabolisms and she would gain weight when she was older. It wasn't until they decided to actually weigh her and discovered that she was sixteen pounds underweight that they took her to the doctor. She was eating well, so there was no reason for her to be that unhealthily thin, even if she did have trouble gaining weight.
In short, her weight was the result of two things — an unusually high metabolism, and chronic illness. This also caused other things, such as fatigue, nausea, back pain, headaches, etc. Her parents were also aware of all these things, but (and that seems to be their favorite thing to say when it came to things wrong with their child) assumed that she just got sick and hurt easily. They didn't even consider the possibility of her having an illness. The doctor couldn't really do much. There isn't a magical cure for it. However, she did get a walking aid, a wheelchair, and medication to help deal with the pain. He also suggested her parents feed her food with more proteins and stuff like that.
Naoko was very embarrassed about it. She already felt as though she was different from her peers, and being sick was just the icing on the cake. She would refuse to take her medication, wouldn't use her cane or wheelchair unless forced (which she often was). It tooks months of outright denial — first that she was even sick at all, and then that she was sick enough to need any of the stuff given to her by the doctor — before she accepted it. She has also stopped worrying about how other people feel about her illness. She has come to accept that there always be people that either pity her or assume she's faking.

#How did you find us? ; I was looking for an anime roleplay forum and this showed up.
#Sample Writing ;Here's an example from a different roleplay:
Stanley wasn't one to approach random strangers on the street and ask them for help.
But, then again, he had also never been in a situation where vines had physically dragged him through the ground — and he was never going to get over that, the feeling of the ground melting underneath him. It was just too weird to even try and comprehend. He considered this an exception to what he would usually do. Besides, what other choice did he have? He'd already pinched himself, thinking he was just dreaming and had to wake up. Multiple times, actually. The red mark on his arm was enough proof of that.
"Excuse me?" he had asked the nearest adult (or teenager, he wasn't paying that much attention) on the street. His voice came out shaky and hesitant, and it was only then that he realized that he had started to tear up. Great. He was crying. He'd already been through enough that day, he was still confused and disoriented, and now he was starting to cry. Which, sure, was probably understandable given the current situation, but Stanley was still a teenage boy who thought crying was the most embarrassing thing in the world.
He unfortunately didn't have time to wipe away the still unfallen tears, as it was then the person decided to turn around.
