#Personality ;Mayu is shy and a bit of a cry baby. She gets embarrassed easily and turns beet red whenever she receives a compliment. She is very empathetic to those around her, and self-conscious due to her clumsiness. Her clumsiness got her demoted and put on cleaning duty--to pay for the plates she broke at her families restaurant.
When Mayu is not breaking plates, she is either playing the piano or singing, and she’s good at them too. However, being self –conscious, she thinks otherwise. She started to take piano lessons at the age of seven, and still takes them occasionally.
At school she is a pretty average student, and a lot of the time her constant studying helps prevent her from failing her exams.
She likes pandas and panda related things. She also likes karaoke and cooking(though she does have a hard time handling a knife).
Above everything else, Mayu is sweet and is seen as a motherly type of person. She hopes that one day she can become strong and confident like her childhood friend, Reika.
#History ;
Mayu, was born on July 18, and raised in Hikarizaka. She grew up with both of her parents, Hayate and Shizue, and her little brother, Kazue who is two years younger. Her little brother is a bit over protective of her since she gets hurt so easily, and her parents own a family restaurant that is getting quite popular among the town.
Growing up wasn’t easy for Mayu, especially in school. She was bullied a lot because she cried over really minor things, but one day a girl named Tachibana Reika stood up for her. After that they became good friends, and that’s when she found out that Reika lived in the same neighborhood as her.
Reika was quite the opposite from Mayu, she was so outgoing and so friendly with everyone she met. She and Mayu used to play a lot together as kids. They went on many small adventures in their neighborhood, and sometimes got in trouble with their parents. Mayu always thought that Reika was very confident and wasn’t afraid of anything, while on the other hand she disliked herself for being quiet and clumsy.
When Mayu was nine, two years after she met Reika, she found out that Reika had to move away to Tokyo. She was shocked and terrified to lose her best friend, but she couldn’t do anything about it. Even though she wouldn’t be able to see her anymore, they promised to write letters to each other every week so they could keep in touch.
Several years after her move, they slowly started to lose contact with each other because of their busy schedules. The one to write the last letter was Mayu, Reika never responded after that. Mayu then didn’t know what to do, she lost her best friend. After this event, Mayu started to shy away from others in her school.
After entering middle school, Mayu treaded along through the months, and the bullying started up again. The people surrounding her at school were all really good friends with each other so she felt left out of most things. She yearned for a friend she could talk to and be herself with.
Now she is entering high school at Hikarizaka High, nervous but a little hopeful that there will be less bullies at such a prestigious school. The Roleplayer's Corner

Mayu scurried throughout the restaurant carrying trays filled with orders made by the customers. Left, right, left, right she repeated in her mind. She lost track after a kid ran right past her and she fell to the ground, bringing the food down with her. The dishes fell like they were in slow motion. One after the other hit the floor, splattering the food along the ground as her thoughts yelled no. Then time sped up again, the sound of shattering glass echoing across the room.
All eyes went to Mayu as she got up and tried to clean the mess. She felt her cheeks heat up. After the last shard was removed from the floor, she started for the kitchen when she heard her dad say, “Mayu, come here for a second.” She felt a shiver run down her back, and her pulse started to quicken. She knew what was coming, she was going to get scolded by her dad again for the fifth plate she broke today.
She turned her head over in the direction where her dad was, and he looked at her with a grim face. “What is it dad?” she asked nervously as she walked over to him. “Well you see, Mayu… we have to demote you to a lower position.”
She looked at him with disbelief. Mayu knew she was going to get scolded, but she didn’t realize she was going to get demoted by her dad. “Is it because of my lack of coordination?” He nodded his head. She stared down at her feet and sighed, “I guess I should have realized it sooner.”
“Mayu don’t be so sad. I think it’s better this way.”
She looked up to him and cocked her head to the side. “Huh?” Why would he say that to his own daughter?
“Well think of it this way, at least you don’t have to talk to the customers. I know you always have a hard time with that.”
She knew what he was talking about. Her shyness kept her from looking at the customers eye to eye, and it was difficult to take their orders. Not to mention tripping and shattering the dishes, which caused a lot of noise that drew attention to herself.
“Well, yeah but I feel awful now, but I understand,” she said while trying to hold back her tears. “Mayu, it’s for the best and it will help save money. The plates are fairly expensive you know,” he said with a sympathetic smile. He walked over and gave her a hug and told her, “Well I’ve got to get back to work.”
With that, he left to work in his office while Mayu wiped her blurry eyes. Why am I so stupid?
