Description:
Akio is a man who stands around 5'9 and roughly weighs 150lbs. His hair is a faded shade of grey and his eyes are a deep burning shade of gold. His outfit seems to change in color but usually holds the same style. His signature appearance is a casual pair of jeans, a t-shirt and an over-shirt. At times he'll be seen wearing an Apron when he's working in the bakery, other times just a simple robe when lounging around the house. He's even rumored to have dressed up as "A hip and styling youngster" before as "MC Akio".
Though his physical figure doesn't seem too out of the ordinary, it still holds some muscular quality; Akio does seem to posses amazing physical strength [Namely he's able to lift Tomoya effortlessly with just a single hand later in the series] and uses it fairly often during his Baseball games. However the most notable feature that almost always seems to be there is a cigarette he keeps between his lips, having some odd refusal to throw one away once he finishes, and is almost seen with one whenever he's around.
Personality:
Akio at heart is a caring and loving person. He tends to put up a tough front derived from a sense of need to protect the ones he loves. At first he may seem a bit too over-excited or energetic, but he's well receptive toward new people and very warm when it comes to conversations. Akio regularly forgets to be considerate of other's feelings or how he words things, namely when speaking of Sanae's bread as he'll openly voice his displeasure without knowing of Sanae's presence to overhear him, this begins their routine of him having to chase her down and apologize.
When he speaks to Nagisa, he's moreover concerned for her well being than he is her current feelings over a situation, only to a certain degree however. When she returns home he'll ask her about her day and whether she made any new friends, if she hadn't he'd usually try to give a speech about trying harder -- holding a balance between support, encouragement, and constructive criticism, of course his ideas and methods of explaining things are simply childish and difficult to interpret at times. Akio likes to think of himself as younger then he really is by mixing in random out-dated vocabulary that he believes the youth of today use often to symbolize their popularity, throwing in the words "Yo, dude, bro, stylin', fresh, hip, and groovy" at times - though Sanae may be guilty of part of this as well.
Though Akio may seem difficult to bring down to earth at times he's very capable of serious and intelligent conversation. He seems to hide behind his front because he enjoys seeing the others be happy, and maybe even to allow an older part of himself when he was still an actor to live out and thrive to benefit his family as oppose to potentially destroy it.
History:
Before his life with Sanae at the bakery, he use to be a successful actor - though both his and Sanae's careers deprived them of time to spent with Nagisa. At first it wasn't too much of a problem as they reluctantly continued onward to follow their dreams, but eventually Nagisa succumbed to her strange illness and was bedridden in a bad condition. One day both he and Sanae had to work, and even though they deeply regretted having to do so Akio swore to rush home after just a small two hours of work that day. When they left, Nagisa was safe and sound in bed and they had assumed everything would be alright, but when Akio returned it turns out Nagisa had gone outside to await them, and had collapsed in the snow.
The doctor was unsure of what would become of their daughter as the situation looked very grim for the young girl, needless to say both Akio and Sanae were deeply stricken with grief. Before he knew it, Akio was running and running.. holding Nagisa in his arms until eventually he reached an open clearing beneath the sky about to break apart with the dawn. He collapsed to his knees and begged, begged for Nagisa to be helped, saying he didn't want her to have to die this way. He pleaded.. and Nagisa opened her eyes. From some miracle as the sunlight gave life to the morning world once more, Nagisa awoke and eventually got better. From then on out Sanae and Akio abandoned their careers and decided to start a bakery together to be able to always spend time with their daughter, they made it into their home as well as their Business and have remained there ever since.
Though the clearing is soon to be meant for construction of a hospital, Akio returns their regularly to play baseball with some of the neighborhood children, or simply relax and recollect on the past. He and Sanae hide most of the old photos of their past lives in the shed behind their house, finding no need to keep them out in the open for fear of only creating painful memories or Nagisa feeling as if she needs to take the blame for it all. At first the bakery did very well with the grand opening, but even to this day there's still some months where they barely manage to scrape buy as most of their customers simply consist of those who will buy their bread out of charity to help keep their business alive.

Akio hums softly to himself, a simple and old melody that had somehow wormed its way into the back of his mind only to surface during mindless tasks such as sweeping the bakery floor like he was now. It was odd, whenever he tried to remember the exact name he seemed incapable of doing so, yet now at times like this the tune itself was so easy to recall and sing as if it'd always been there for him to remember. It was frustrating at times but he had more important things to spend his time worrying over. He finally finished, scooping the rest of the collected dust and crumbs into the dustpan and dumping them away in the nearest bin. Akio released a softened sigh and brushed an arm across his forehead to clear his skin of any sweat that may have been gathering, resting his hands atop the broom handle, folded over one another while his chin soon lowered to nestle itself against them. His eyes scanned over the horizon through the open window-panes, gazing at the sun which had begun to set over the hills and shadow small portions of the land. A small chuckle escaped his lips as he couldn't help but observe it all in wonder.
"All these years.. still so damn beautiful."
Akio adjusted the position of his lips to keep the limp cigarette held carefully between them, something he'd grown accustomed to with years of practice. That's not all that'd remained beautiful in all the years he and his family had lived here however. Their bakery still remained lovely with all the simply elegance from the time they'd spent decorating and arranging everything. Their home remained beautiful from all the memories and good times spent within that he cherished every moment he decided to look back on it all. His wife remained very beautiful, having not yet aged a day in Akio's eyes, still filling his heart with warmth and making it beat heavily within his chest like a schoolboy seeing a pretty girl he liked for the first time. That's how he sort of felt.. like a kid with candy or some toy they loved, though his love was much more genuine - and he saw Sanae as his other half, not a possession. In truth he didn't know just what he'd do without her, but he was glad to have found someone so amazing and cheerful. Even if she couldn't bake very well.
"Hehe.. still love 'em."
Ah, was he speaking to himself again? He'd been doing so much of it recently he didn't pay the thought of it much mind as he indulged himself upon whatever situation called for it. He strode over to the backroom, placing the broom and dustpan away before dusting his hands off against once another, stepping back over behind the counter and picking up the small magazine from the surface. His fingers gingerly roamed over the small gritty edges of the paper until they found the place they'd been resting in previously. He flipped it open and focused on whatever caught his interest first, beginning to idly read and await for another customer to walk in through the doorway. Some part of him really didn't hope for anyone else other then Nagisa to walk through. He'd like nothing more than to finally be done with the day and just be able to spend time with his lovely daughter and wife - having almost lost what family he'd created he always enjoyed being able to spend time with them. The thought of it almost brought a tear to his eye but he knew better than to let himself become upset so easily over the past he avoided.
*The small bell attached to the door rings, and a soft voice calls out "I'm home~".
Akio smiles as he set the magazine down gently, lifting his head to peer over toward the figure who's features were mostly difficult to see from the sunlight shadowing anything facing the direction of his golden hues, though the figure and shape was unmistakable. Just like that, all the sadness he almost felt withered away and died. His heart fluttered a little again as a smile came to form upon his features, his eyes finally adjusting to the change in light and gazing toward Nagisa and folding his arms across his chest.
"Hey there Hun.."
The greeting was a bit different then his usual attitude, but he was oddly especially happy to see her that afternoon; his daughter had grown to be a perfect example of pure and loving heart, a shining beacon of hope in a world he found rather lacking of good and honest people.. and he couldn't be happier.
