oh, the inevitability. Fujibayashi Ryou sat in her seat, in her classroom, with the face of utmost seriousness. It was already a few minutes past dismissal, and the place was already quite vacated, except for the lavender-haired class representative and her... minions. Well, these people who are being jokingly referred to as minions, huddled around Fujibayashi's seat, were here for one thing; fortune-telling. The bashful Ryou may not have the aura of mystery, and certainly, the ambiance of her desk was not drenched with some foreign incense, but she... she had managed to gain her own respectable following. There were mostly girls, though the odd boy, perhaps a companion or friend of one of the girls, would be around, trying to see from the furthest point of the clumped circle. The audience did not seem to mind that after some minutes, there might pass some security personnel (though sometimes they were more lenient.. or more absent) who would coax them to come down and leave the premises of the school. After all, this was a classroom, not a clubroom. There must be some reason why a lot of the owners of these starry eyes look intently upon this makeshift soothsayer.
At any rate, the normally demure Ryou was in her element. The more perverse might try to launch a joke on her or something, but would find her stoic during these situations. Her focus was on her deck of playing cards, as she arranged them, shuffled them, as if the balance of the whole world relied on doing the arrangements in the most proper manner. Her older sister usually supervised her from outside the circle of watchers, but she had to do something else today; still, Kyou probably knew that Ryou would be okay on her own in this kind of event. This kind of event was hers. She was the master here. The sound of flicking, of the scrambling, finger against card and card against card, that was what pervaded the silence of the room. There had been more fortune-telling sessions during the day, but the mystique of the after-dismissal session was the best, with the colorful rays of the sunset offering half-lighting. Sometimes, one could almost believe that we lowly, base humans could reach the mystical with the most mundane of resources... randomization.
Ryou's current customer had the most bated breath amongst the audience. Some were veterans, some were amateurs, but more or less the group was... erm, informed, of the uncanny, and slightly twisted accuracy of Ryou's fortune-telling. Well, there were exceptions to the rule, people Fujibayashi Kyou had specifically ordered the multitude not to tell (like Okazaki Tomoya, for instance), for fun, and sometimes so that they would experience it firsthand for themselves. Well, that was almost the same. Then, there were the real first-timers, as the sharp backfire of Ryou's predictions were some sort of sacred secret amongst her followers. Okay, so this was sounding like a cult. Ryou spoke softly, and the crowd seemed to tighten to hear what she said, something that often only the nearest succeeded in, though it would spread around later. Ryou did this so that (theoretically) the subject would be the only one to hear his or her 'fate'. She looked a little grim, and Ryou wondered a little; she thought her prediction quite favorable. Oh, yes, Fujibayashi Ryou wasn't very aware of the destructive power of her predictions, too. That, Fujibayashi Kyou made sure of. It was a sort of taboo, punishable with a dictionary to the face.
As the disgruntled girl vacated the displaced chair placed in front of Fujibayashi, the 'sage' looked about her audience. "We're running out of time, everyone, I'm really sorry." was her announcement, met almost immediately with soundless, yet reassuring gestures. "I could do one or two more fortunes." she further added, apologetically. She went back to the cards she had placed on the table, collecting them, and shuffling the completed deck again. "Next?" she queried, as the huddled group shifted, those uninterested (in having their fortunes told) waiting patiently. OC: Guys! Find a way for you two to have a simultaneous fortune-telling. ^_^

The Ace of Hearts The buzz going around had gotten Takashi's mind off of what he was supposed to meet his sister for. It seemed that it was Ryou who causing all the commotion and Takashi knew exactly why there was so much crazy energy going around the class. Ryou most likely pulled out the famous and feared fortune telling cards which everyone seemed so fascinated about. Takashi had heard that these fortunes were crazily accurate and that Ryou must of been some kind of magical sage. While Takashi wasn't too fond of fortunes he seemed enthusiastic to try it out. However today just wasn't that kind of day and the boy began to make his way out the classroom door. Walking down the hall down towards the stairs Takashi bumped into one of his good friends Kenji. "Damn it Ken." Takashi said. Kenji looked up at Takashi and began to laugh dramatically as if the boy had done some kind of funny trick that you just had to laugh at even if you didn't want to.
"When Hitomi finds you Takashi..your going to die but anyway I'm heading to your class to hear sweet Fujibayashi's fortune telling." Kenji said. Takashi nodded and began to walk down the stairs before he turned to say something to Kenji. "Wait what did you mean by sweet? Just because Fujibayashi Kyou can kill you doesn't mean she isn't a nice person." Takashi said. "Oh? When the Rookie start taking up the Fujibayashi twins? OH WAIT TAKASHI WHICH ONE IS IT THAT YOU LIKE!" Kenji yelled. Takashi blushed and then charged towards Kenji holding him against the wall. "That isn't funny, I'm just making a point is all." Takashi said still blushing. "Whatever you say lover boy but now on a serious note could you let me go? I really do want to see who's fortune will come true next." Kenji said.
Takashi let Kenji go and began to walk towards the exit of the school when a soccer ball flew passed Takashi's head. "TAKASHI!" Hitomi yelled. Takashi looked and smiled at Hitomi before dashing away quickly back up the stairs and into the classroom. Hitomi rushed past as she was thinking that her brother wouldn't actually turn into a open class room like that. "Hitomi?" Kenji asked. Takashi nodded and caught his breath and heard Ryou saying that she was running out of time. "Hey Takashi, You should go and see what your fortune would say." Kenji said. "I bet you 100 yen that its fan girls." Takashi said. "Nope that's an easy guess but just go." Kenji said. Takashi sighed and decided to make his way through the crowd and stood in front of Ryou's desk. "I'll go" Takashi said. "HEY YOUNGER FUJIBAYASHI TELL TWO FORTUNES AT ONCE" Kenji yelled out. The crowd seemed to agree with him and began to chant the same thing. 'I'm doomed' Takashi thought.

Kichiro Haru
___________________________________________________________________________ Another day was done, and Kichiro was finishing off cleaning his stuff up for the day. Most of the day had been rather normal really; schoolwork, lunch in the library after yet another failed attempt to woo Kotomi, and then more schoolwork. That had been just about his personal school schedule since he had met up Kotomi in that restaurant. Sadly, he had absolutely no clue if he was making any progress whatsoever with her; that mind of hers was intelligent yet random enough he could never be completely sure.
For now, however, he wasn’t going to let his love life (or lack of it for that matter as was probably the likelier case) bother him. His homework load was rather light today, so he would have more time to goof off today than normal. Even if he was good at school, he enjoyed a break every once in awhile. Of course, he also didn’t have that much to do, so he was moving rather slow as he moved out of his classroom and started to head out. In the hall, however, he stumbled upon a surprise; the sounds of people cheering about something, and upon a quick investigation, a moderate size crowd of people hovering around something. What it was Kichiro could not remember, till he heard a familiar voice say “I could do one or two more fortunes.”
That was when his memory returned; Fujibayashi Ryou, the younger sister of Kyou. He had heard she had a hobby in fortune-telling, which would explain the crowds. People were always interested in this sort of thing, but Kichiro never cared for it that much. His life had gotten rather predictable to the point he didn’t need fortune telling to tell him what was going to happen next. Besides, ever since that incident with the Drama Club, Kyou had been glaring at him whenever he was around Ryou. Everybody knew that Kyou was protective of her ‘younger’ sister (even if they were twins), so hanging around Ryou too long was almost like asking for a death sentence. Things had gotten better after time moved on, but Kichiro was still a bit afraid of the girl. He just didn’t want a dictionary thrown at him after all.
It was about then that a couple of people started talking behind him. He couldn’t make it out, till somebody yelled “Oh wait Takashi, which one is it that you liked.” Having no clue what the context was, Kichiro ignored it, and just stood in the back as people jostled around Ryou trying to get their fortunes told. Around then more people entered, and in the process bumped into Kichiro, knocking him into the crowd. A few pushes later, Kichiro found himself dumbstruck as he was pushed into the front, just in time for the chanting about having two fortunes told began. There was one boy next to him who apparently volunteered, and Kichiro had a feeling that somebody was going to…
”HEY, DO KICHIRO’S!”
Yep, somebody drafted him into it. Some of the girls giggled in response to the idea, probably remembering his past ‘fortunes’. Kichiro was blushing at it, wanting desperately to get out of there as quickly as possible. The last thing he needed was a repeat of that event, or something like it. It took him the rest of his second year to get the issue to finally be resolved, outside of minor giggles and teasing about it of course. He tried to back out of it, but people kept pushing him forward. Defeated, Kichiro responded with a side.
”All right, I’m in.”

begin. Amidst the respectful tumult, the next two customers were extracted. It was just in time; Ryou had just organized the cards again, their order completely random, uncontrolled by anything except the Fates... or whatever the realistic equivalent. Ryou did not know the nuances of probability, but the prospect of some outside force choosing from a deck of cards to guide you... perhaps, because that force would choose again to lead you to the event the cards described... was romantic, in a way. Perhaps that was why Ryou garnered so many people, so easily, even if in other situations she wasn't much of a crowd focus. The silent enthusiasm dribbled in her eyes, as she placed the arranged deck back onto the desk, free from her small hands.
She was surprised to find familiar faces. The huddle of students had clamored for a 'double fortune', but she wondered if ever the destinies of these two were similar, or intertwined. Perhaps. The first to come was her classmate, Satoshi-san. He was... popular; she shivered a bit on the idea that the crowd might double in size just because she was having his fortune told. She did not know an awful lot about him, but she definitely knew his name, for she was the class representative of the class. Besides, on the few occasions that they had met, he had been civil, nice, and the fangirls did not come biting the very flesh out of her because they had a phobia for flying encyclopedia. He was nice, but she wondered if he cared for somebody... people usually liked love fortunes. If not, why would he be asking for his fortune told? She was a little interested, but she let none of that out of her lips. She motioned for the boy to sit down.
Another was extracted from the crowd; this one seemed a little unwilling. She was sure she had seen him before... maybe she had forgotten the memory because it was unpleasant. Perhaps if onee-san was here, she would be able to tell right away; she kept tabs on anybody male that dared trespass within her zone of privacy. At any rate, she wasn't sure, he might not be that bad, maybe it was all an accident, for Fujibayashi Kyou was notorious for finding certain things notorious; or perhaps... her memory wasn't sure, maybe she just frequently saw him in the hallway. He had to be in another class, that, she was sure. He was a senior, too, and he had a nice face, if a little problematic. The multitude loosened up a bit, a helpful soul found a vacant chair, and she likewise, again, motioned for the other boy to sit down. She wanted to make sure they were comfortable, as comfortable as one could be in a huddle of people. She had to say that she didn't find it all that comfortable either, but for the noble pursuit of divining...
"Okay." This was just for formality's sake, and she wasn't even sure if fortune-tellers really did this. There weren't very many in this town. "Um... would you please tell me your names?" Yes, tell her your names, boys, even if that seems a little off from the general topic of finding out what tragedy you will be part in. Of course, that makes it easier to keep track in the mind; the two get a label. No, it was not so Ryou could channel their names as she shuffled the cards--- she'd shuffled them already. Ryou had a way, and she did things that way, her way. Even though the difference was subtle, Ryou was different; this was her playing field. She exuded a calm that her panicky self did not usually carry.
"Oh, and decide who cuts the deck first." Her fortune-telling was actually quite simple. It was all cutting and laying down cards. She hadn't learned spreads yet, even if she wanted to. She studied for exams too, you know.

Sleight of Hand Takashi looked at Ryou and began to sit down as he was told. The usual over complicated thought process began in his head as he done the action. While he knew one day that Ryou would probably tell his fortune he didn't think that it would be a forced one. After all it was Kenji's fault anyway but Takashi was half willing so it didn't seem too bad to do it now. The boy looked at who seemed to be the next victim with him. Even though Takashi was popular he didn't really get all the info on everyone in the school but he knew he seen this kid from somewhere before but that wasn't actually important, Takashi had to think about the task at hand and that was the cards.
Hitomi who stopped by the classroom looked at Takashi from the crowd with a smug smile on her face. Takashi had been setup but it was too late to get out of it. Takashi looked at Ryou's cards on the table and then looked at Kichiro before looking back at Ryou. "Well I'm Satoshi Takashi though you may know me as The Rookie. Takashi said. Back when Takashi was a freshmen he was given the name Rookie because of his great skill in basketball. It was actually rare that you could find someone like that but it was possible. It was said that the only one who could actually pose a challenge to Takashi was either the team captain or Okazaki Tomoya. Now a days Takashi if he wanted to could be on par with someone in the NBA in America but once again that wasn't important. The next thing Ryou asked was who would cut from the deck first. "I'll go first I guess." Takashi said. The boy did as he said and waited for further instructions.

Being pushed out into the front and forced into all this, Kichiro was a little flustered. He almost missed the chair as he sat down, but he corrected himself and made contact with it. He had expected Ryou to start shuffling the deck or something now, but she must have done that already. Instead, she requested that the two of them tell her their names. Probably to help her channel their fortunes or something. He waited as the other guy said his name first, announcing himself as Takashi, the Rookie. Kichiro rolled his eyes a little. Was the nickname really necessary? Still, it wasn’t that important of a matter, so he just let it slide and moved on with the fortune telling. ”I’m Kichiro Haru.” he responded.
Takashi offered to cut the deck first, and so Kichiro assumed he’d have to be the one to do it next. He was set up and ready to go if the command went that direction, but if he didn’t have to do it that would be good to. He just wanted to get out of this as fast as possible. Even now he was expecting Kyou to come rushing in with a dictionary or some other projectile and use it on him for getting near Ryou. Of course, from the looks of it Ryou wasn’t too sure who he was. That was good at least; the more that forgot last year, the better it was for him.
Kichiro shifted a little in his seat; he always had trouble just sitting in one spot doing nothing. Still, he didn’t want to be rude, so he did his best to restrain himself from jostling about too far.
OOC: Beh, hate the post being this small, but there really isn't anything they can do till they get their fortune XD. Anyway, if you need Kichiro to cut the deck, just say he did it in your post so we can move on.

reap what you reap. Graciously, Ryou offered the deck to Satoshi-san. The boy had introduced himself as Satoshi Takashi, something she already knew, but she always did it with her customers. She found it a politeness she could not skip. The boy even included his nickname as the Rookie, although Ryou could care less; the most she knew about the basketball team was that Okazaki-kun was in it some short time before. She wasn't really much of either a participant or a spectator in sporty events. Still, she smiled a bit, guessing that the boy must be as enthusiastic of his chosen game as she was with hers, the little game that they were playing right now.
The other boy... he gave his name as Kichiro Haru, so she guessed she would just call him Kichiro-san. It was her usual address to people, and it did not mean she did not want to know him, who was from the other section. She vaguely remembered him... she was sure she had encountered him before... he didn't seem to be bringing up anything, but then again, this was not an ordinary conversation, and the situation might not be... very ordinary. She had a hunch, but maybe she could confirm it when this was over. It was fun to see people again, even if one was not sure where she could have originally met him. Right now, the business was the future, in this dimly-lit room, in this circle of people who held their breaths...
After Satoshi-san cut the deck, Ryou placed the card on top face-down on the table. She then fixed the remainder of the cards, putting the bottom half over the other. She then gave it to Kichiro-san, who did likewise, and she repeated the process, generating a second card. Ryou claimed her cards again, and drew the card on top, placing it face-down on the table, making it the third, and last card.
"Okay..." What was next?
"Um, this time, Satoshi-san, Kichiro-san... pick one of the cards... um, Kichiro-san first this time... and give it to me." she said, though even with all her pauses she sounded more confident than usual. Her process was simple, but there was a practiced elegance in her handling of cards, and she seemed to do it with a sort of respect. The future, the unknown, was both lovely and foreboding, the place where hope and despair point to. The two boys followed her requests.
Kichiro picked up the first card, turning it face up. It was the Ten of Hearts. Takashi's card was the Jack of Clubs, and finally, the last card, which Ryou herself turned, was the Two of Hearts. Ryou seemed to pore over the cards a little, before making her pronouncement. "The two of you will meet a group of people, on your way home, who wish to be closer to you. They will give you a present you will surely remember."
The audience tensed, while a few of the less discreet veterans sniggered. Ryou looked at the last card, as if pondering some more; it seemed... not so relevant. "There you will meet someone who you might want to give a present to." She ended, and after pausing again to double-check her little prediction, she clapped her hands. "I'm sorry if it was a little short." she said, smiling a little apologetically. "Okay, I'll be doing this again only the day after tomorrow, okay?"
A simultaneous reply drawled out, a "Yes", as the people scattered out, and Ryou started to pick up her bag.
