Face Claim: Takishima Kei from Special A
Description:
First impressions of Dan tend to be his size and physique. Dan stands at about 6'2" and weighs about 175 lbs, most of it muscle. His shoulders are broad and and his body is athletic. Many have commented that the way his body is proportioned he could be a professional athelete or a model. His golden-brown hair and matching eyes don't help this impression either. Despite being half Japanese, very little of that is obviously apparent in his physique or facial features.
He looks natural in his school uniform, although he dislikes wearing the tie and goes without it as often as possible. His school uniform is also fairly tight because of his body's build and musculature, and he jokes sometimes about being able to rip it off like Superman does with his shirts. Outside of the uniform, Dan prefers to wear simple short-sleeved T-shirts and blue jeans, often with a zip-up sweatshirt over it. His appearance on the whole is clean-cut and respectable, even when wearing casual clothes.
Personality:
Dan is a well-mannered, clean, and confident young man, who seems to be successful in anything he puts his mind to. He is intelligent, athletic, charismatic, and friendly to almost everybody he meets. However, despite his cool exterior, Dan doesn't actually go any further than he really has to in order to be polite. Because of his father being in the military, Dan has been through so many moves in his life that he often doesn't have time to make any friends, nor does he want to, because in the end, he'll just keep getting moved away and he'll never see them again.
This rather bleak outlook on his life has left him secretly bitter and very lonely, though he doesn't really understand either aspect of this part of his personality. He just knows that making too many friends makes it hard to move on again. Because of the constant moving, Dan has some resentment to his father, though he doesn't believe it himself, and doesn't talk about it. He usually changes the subject off of his parents before his bitterness can show itself.
Because of the number of times his father has been rebased to other countries, Dan often finds that, for a while, certain aspects of a nation's language escapes him, leaving him confused for a short while when they use metaphors or slang phrases. Dan tends to learn from his mistakes quickly, though he dislikes making them in the first place) and often doesn't make the same mistake twice.
Generally Dan tries to focus on the present and future. He knows that it's pointless to worry over it and keeps moving forward. His biggest goal in life is to become an author and write fictional novels.

Histoy:
Daniel Stryker was born to a happily married couple. His father was a member of the U.S. Air Force, stationed on Okinawa, and his mother was as Japanese citizen. The happy family didn't last. Before Dan had reached his fifth birthday, his parents had gotten a divorce and Dan had to continue living with his father. Before he had fully mastered either English or Japanese, Dan's father was stationed at the base in Germany.
Dan didn't mind Germany and started school not very far from the base his dad was stationed at, but his time in Germany was fairly short. Though he learned the language in a rate that impressed all his teachers, his time in Germany came to a close quickly. Shortly after being nominated to a grade-school version of Student Council President, Daniel and his father had to move, three days after his election.
Over the next ten years, Dan's father was restationed eighteen times, and almost each time was in a country that spoke a different language. Daniel was never in a single country more than 6 months and while he had no troubles making friends, parting from them became more and more difficult. Daniel very quickly learned to adapt to the sudden moves, and while friendly, became distant and aloof as a way to emotionally protect himself.
Nowhere was this more significant than during twelfth move (to Italy) where several of the students had managed to pierce the barriers of polite friendship Dan had set up, only to have him move away only four months after his arrival, leaving behind the members of the football (Americans read: soccer) team that had convinced him to join, and the first girlfriend Dan had ever had. Dan vowed not to let anything like that happen again, and while he tried to keep in touch with his Italian friends, soon Dan and his friends stopped sending letters and moved on with their lieves. Dan was sinking perilously close to depression.
Daniel's father, recognizing the problem and his part in it made a deal with his son. If Dan could stomach one more move, he would put Dan at a school where he could spend his entire senior year and graduation. Reluctantly, Dan agreed and the next move was back to a base in Japan.
True to his word, Dan's father arranged for Daniel to be put in a school with dormitory facilities. As Dan moved in, he didn't think that anything would change, even though he'd be at the school for a year. The year would come and go, and he would be in the same position as before. But maybe, just maybe, this year could be something different...

Daniel walked his way into his new school. It looked fairly impressive on the outside, but then, most schools tended to be like that. It looked like a nice enough place. I've seen more impressive schools than this though, Dan thought. He made his way inside, and found his locker. He'd been through this drill long enough that he knew what to expect.
As he fiddled with the combination he could hear whispers from behind him. And so it begins, he thought. He supposed it was inevitable though, he was much taller than almost anybody he'd seen so far, and some of those had been the class instructors! This'd actually be fairly interesting, not that he was going to particularly enjoy standing out so much.
After wandering the hallway for a few minutes and finding out where his class was, Dan settled himself down at an open desk until the class bell began to ring. The instructor entered shortly after, and then came the part that Dan always dreaded. He was called up to the front of the class, and asked to give a little bit of information about himself. Of all the things for every school to pick up...
"Hello. My name is Daniel Stryker, but please call me Dan if you would like." He thought he saw some surprised looks amongst his classmates. Looks like they thought a new student from overseas would be a bit less fluent. "I'm new to this school here, but I look forward to getting to know you all and having a wonderful year!" Dan winced internally at the lie. I'd really rather be anywhere else. I just don't have anywhere to go...
