Sakagami Tomoyo______________________________________________________ The sun was setting behind the trees now, casting an orange glow on the stores and streets and painting long, dark shadows over the ground. It was roughly around 6:00pm. To be more exact, it was 6:27pm; at least that was what her wristwatch read. The sun seemed to be setting sooner and sooner… it really was a little saddening. The weather was getting colder, too. The trees were still mostly green. Sakagami Tomoyo guessed it would only be a matter of weeks before they would clearly be golden, red, and brown.
She was still in her school uniform, the long-sleeved version for the cold season. The air had gotten cool so rapidly. It had only been a few days ago that the uniforms switched for the season, and Tomoyo was grateful that the time finally came around. The weather was forecasted to warm up again in the next few days, although Tomoyo really didn’t mind it either way.
She thought of previous happenings in the day that led her to come here to this certain store in the Shopping District. It was a crafts store. There was only one thing the silver-haired girl needed, and that was wood, just plain blocks for carving a certain something -- starfish. Tomoyo had agreed to help one Ibuki Fuko and she intended on keeping that promise. All this was for the sole purpose of getting people to attend Fuu-chan’s sister’s wedding.
As Tomoyo walked down a section in the store dedicated to wood craft supplies, she took notice of a bunch of already cut star-shaped wood cut-outs. They were flat and didn’t really fit the whole idea of the invitations being handmade, so she ignored them. She ended up walking away from the counter with a shopping bag full of plain wooden blocks for carving. The bag wasn’t heavy at all; the wood she bought was lightweight and seemed easy to carve with a knife.
The bells above the door jingled as she exited the shop. Tomorrow she would go to school, ideally with a few starfish carvings to contribute to Fuko’s cause, and help distribute them to the student body along with Fujibayashi Kyou.
“… Am I wasting my time doing this?” the second-year student frowned, voicing her own thoughts. Eventually she would need to focus on student council elections… No, she told herself, this time silently. If anything, assisting Fuko would help Tomoyo’s future campaign. Not that all this was a stunt to gain popularity. That wasn’t the case at all.
Tomoyo kept on walking. She was done here. There wasn’t really anything else to buy, but she figured that since girls are supposed to like window shopping, she should at least linger for a bit and gaze into the windows of clothing stores or something. She slowed to a stop not because she saw a desirable item, but because she sighted someone familiar up ahead.
Should she ignore him and just head home? What was his name again? Ah, that’s right… Tomoyo remembered now. This guy was Masayoshi Tsubine, also from Hikarizaka High School. Even though he had already apologized for their first meeting which involved a police officer breaking up their drawn-out fight, seeing his face here irked her.
[/size] ooc; Tomoyo is still in Starfish Rumble. Yaaay liquid time? xP This post occurs a little after she leaves school for the day after meeting Fuko and Kyou and agreeing to help.

Masayoshi Tsubine "Damn...what the hell am I doing here?"::Underneath that white hair of his, Tsubine was thinking that exact phrase. His reddish-brown eyes scanned the inside of the shop intently. The two orbs kept dashing between two specific sections of the shop. On his left, there was a section full of instant meals, but on the right was the section of almost fresh vegetables and meats. Tsubine had little experience cooking anything, and with his sister moving away he had no one that could cook for him. He made a disgruntled face as he continued to think of which way to go. If he went left, there would be less of a chance of burning his house down. If he went right, he could do more with the spices. In fact, it wasn't the actual cooking that Tsubine enjoyed (or was proficient at for that matter). Instead, his talent would appear when he was adding seasoning and spices. The white-haired young man sighed and went over to the right. He spent some time over in that section of the shop, and to him it seemed like only a few minutes. His uncle gave him a weekly allowance for his food and a little for entertainment. Tsubine instead decided to take it upon himself to get a part-time job answering telephones for a company based in Hikarizaka. This, however, just allowed him to spend a bit more on food. And without a second mouth to feed, he would be able to spend a bit less on regular weeks. However, Tsubine had been studying some simple-prepared traditional dishes. However, he became distracted with pictures of yakiniku. More specifically, it was "hone-tsuki-karubi," which is short ribs with bone. He had a small electric grill that his uncle had bought for his sister. However, she could not take it with her back to Okinawa. As he searched around the fairly-large shop, he grabbed most of everything needed for the meal. However, he knew that this would most likely fail. So, sighing, he walked back to the left and grabbed an instant meal off of the shelf without looking at it. Waiting in line, he thought he saw someone walking into a...crafts store? He shook it off and stared at the sky outside. It had become a beautiful pink-red-orange mix. There were a few birds perched on the power lines that were barely visible from inside the store. Tsubine was shaken from his daze by the woman that was running the register clearing her throat. He hastily moved up and started putting his items on the counter. In just a few seconds, the total popped up on the small LCD screen atop the register. He quickly took out a good bit of his weekly allowance from his uncle. The cashier was quick to give him his change and Tsubine left the store with his bag of food for the week. He stared back up at the sky and watched as some of the birds took flight. He turned to the left to walk home when he noticed the familiar figure of a classmate. Well, it was also the uniform that caught his eye. Obviously staring, he did not recognize her at first. When it hit him, it was obvious. His face lit up a bit, maybe because she didn't look as irritated as she normally was when she saw him. Tsubine walked over to her, again quite obvious in what he was doing.:: "How odd of us to meet here, Miss Sakagami. I haven't seen you since...well, yeah...SO! If I may ask, how have you been?"

Sakagami Tomoyo______________________________________________________ Great… is he trying to waste my time?
She nodded, acknowledging the male's existence. Yes, they hadn’t seen each other in a while, and really, she would have preferred to keep it that way. Masayoshi Tsubine sounded like he was trying to be diplomatic, but Tomoyo figured he was probably up to something suspicious, and so she firmed her jaw and replied warily, “I’ve been fine, Masayoshi…” She eyed him with caution, as if expecting him to do something regrettable at any moment.
She didn’t even say thanks or ask how he was in return. If Masayoshi was truly trying to be friendly, Tomoyo wondered if her own behavior was uncalled for. Obviously, the reason why he asked was because he wanted to chat... too bad Tomoyo didn’t want that. She wanted to get this conversation over and done with as soon as possible.
Even though she wasn’t expecting this talk to be lengthy, Tomoyo stepped to the side closer to the stores so that she wouldn’t be blocking people who wanted to get to the places they needed to go in the meantime. It was always a bother when people stopped to chat in the middle of a sidewalk. She didn’t want to have to make other people feel such frustration.
I should have kept walking… Really, why had she stopped? Now she felt obligated to continue the conversation. With little else to do, her gaze traveled down to the white-haired man’s shopping bag. She wasn’t really concerned with the contents of it. At first, she couldn’t have cared less about what Masayoshi had been shopping for, but she found it interesting once she saw the outlines of the items within the bags were clearly visible to be groceries.
Hm…
“A person like you shops for groceries…?” she asked, slightly surprised and not hesitating to be blunt. And she thought he was only a good-for-nothing guy... Well, she supposed grocery shopping wasn’t anything odd. It was just that she always saw Masayoshi as a tree-punching troublemaker who did little else, which was obviously an unrealistic expectation now that she thought about it. “Not to be rude, but do you even know how to cook?”

Masayoshi Tsubine ::Tsubine smiled a bit hearing her answer to his question. Being the type of person he was, he hated to hear when anyone that he enjoyed spending time around (even if they did not return the feeling) had problems. He noticed that she had stepped to the side, and so he did the same. Even though it was late in the afternoon, Tsubine had noticed that there was a good bit of people still shopping. Tsubine could tell by the way she spoke to him that she truly didn't want to. It seemed it was one of those "Yeah...I don't want to talk to you but I will so I don't come off as a jerk" moments to Tsubine. However, he also noticed that she had a look of suspicion towards him as well. It was not what he wanted or needed now. However, it was when it looked like she was eying his bag of groceries that he became curious with her motives. He had a bit of a quizzical expression on his face, but it was not very noticeable. When she asked the first question of the set of two, he was quite surprised that she was actually trying to carry on the conversation. However, it was the phrase "a person like you" that made Tsubine smirk a bit more. He thought he understood what she thought of him. Tsubine's hypothesis of her thoughts on him was a simple one. Troublemaker. She had caught him on a very bad day that day, and neither of them knew the other's story. Hell, Tsubine still didn't know much about Tomoyo. Ever since Okinawa, he paid no attention to rumors; so he did not know of the rumors surrounding her. Setting those thoughts aside, he turned toward her a bit more to reply in his nonchalant tone.:: "Yeah, despite my looks, I'm the one that keeps the house up and running."That's when the second question was asked."Well...it depends. Physically, yes I can indeed cook. However, if you want anything not burned to a crisp, I suggest someone else. However, since my sister is moving back to Okinawa due to some custody issues, I'm going to be the one cooking...I'm probably going to have to put the fire department on speed dial..."::Then Tsubine reheard what he had said. To him, it sounded as if he could come off as a sexist pig. Dammit. He thought. Before Tomoyo could respond, he quickly corrected himself.:: "And my sister only cooked because she was afraid I'd burn the house down."

Sakagami Tomoyo______________________________________________________ Hm… Supposedly, Tsubine took care of the house. How much that really entailed, Tomoyo didn’t know. She still doubted his responsibility. The silver-haired teenager leaned against the side of a building, listening to Tsubine go on about his lack of culinary skills. Well, her assumptions turned out to be at least somewhat true. Was that a good thing or a bad thing?
Unlike what some girls might think and judge, Tomoyo didn’t think ill of the fact that Tsubine was usually reliant on his sister’s cooking. Cooking was something girls traditionally did, and Tomoyo really wasn’t the kind of person who took offense to the stereotyping of females; in fact, she was trying to fit into those stereotypes herself. It was difficult, though. Changing her own behavior had to be one of the trickiest things she ever attempted.
Tomoyo was uncertain whether or not what Tsubine said was supposed to be funny, but she couldn’t keep a partially amused tone out of her voice. “Is that so? Surely you have to be exaggerating…” Conflagration because of someone’s poor cooking abilities sounded like something right out of a comedy series. “That sounds fictional, but if you’re really that bad of a cook… what a hopeless guy.” She said the last bit with a sigh mixed in, along with a hint of a smile. She meant no offense by her words, nor was she judging him right now.
Thinking about the conversation again, she figured she shouldn’t mention the fact that when she first started cooking, Takafumi accused her of trying to poison him, but that was all in the past. Now Tomoyo liked to think she was at least sufficient in the art, if not above average at it, although her repertoire was still disappointingly quite limited.
Instead, Tomoyo offered words of encouragement despite having wanted to leave earlier. “Really though. Once you cook for yourself for a while, you’ll get better. At least that’s how it went for me. You won’t be a bad cook for eternity unless you really are hopeless.”
