Ibuki Fuko ___________________________________________________________________________ ”Yes, Fuko has forgiven you.” she responded, hoping the boy was now grateful for her forgiveness. She didn’t give it easily, so he should be glad she was forgiving him and letting him get a starfish in the deal.
Dan mentioned that while he did not have any siblings, he thought that what she was doing made sense. Of course it made sense! Fuko never did anything that didn’t make sense (to her). She was going to round up the entire school to go to her sisters wedding and congratulate her. Right now she was making some good progress; just about everyone she had asked so far had accepted the call. At this rate she would have the entire school supporting her, and everyone would be happy with their starfish. They would be one giant starfish family!
”Fuko doesn’t do anything that doesn’t make sense, so of course it makes sense,” she proudly exclaimed before continuing on about her plans.
Fuko’s mood soon turned sour as Dan ‘rained on her parade.’ Fuko had been working day and night on these starfish; she never left the school at all for some reason. She didn’t attend class, she just took whatever food she could; all her time was dedicated to these starfish. And how dare he question Fuko’s stamina! Between her love for her sister and the love of starfish, Fuko could never get burnt out carving these things. She’d do it as a living if she could figure out how to do so, selling starfish sculptures to the entire world! They’d be in the Louve, the Smithsonian…and whatever fancy art museums were out there. Fuko would become the Michalengelo of starfish if she had her way. When there was something you really loved, you didn’t give up on it.
”Hmph, you underestimate Fuko’s commitment to her sister and starfish. My plan will work, and everyone will be together like one giant Starfish Family at Fuko’s sister’s wedding.” she ‘scolded’ him.
After giving him the starfish, and the other person one as well, Dan once again began to question Fuko’s plans. He was wondering when exactly the wedding was supposed to take place…something Fuko wasn’t even sure of herself. It was supposed to happen soon was all she knew, but an exact date escaped her. It was if something was stopping Fuko’s sister from having the wedding, but she didn’t know what. That really bothered Fuko, but she just kept at these starfish as it was all she could do for her sister.
”There hasn’t been a set date yet.” Fuko replied a little sad at being reminded of whatever that problem was.
Movement caught Fuko’s eye, and she soon found that the other person who had been mumbling this entire time was moving towards the counter. She was about to chide him for touching her starfish, but he was going after her rice! How could she have forgotten about her rice? Was it ready yet? She didn’t hear any sign of it being ready…oh no! What if Fuko’s rice had burned!
”Mumbler!” she yelled out to Ayumu,”Please check and see if Fuko’s rice is done! And to be nice, Fuko will share it with you all if you want.” ___________________________________________________________________________

Daniel snorted slightly as Fuko accepted his apology. She's completely serious. It's...rather funny. He quickly composed himself. It was funny, but pretty rude to her.
However Dan could not help facepalming as Fuko continued to speak. "You don't do anything that doesn't make sense? That itself doesn't make sense, Fuko-san." The conversation just began to deteriorate, prompting Dan to sigh.
"I'm not a matter of underestimating anything. If you overwork yourself, you won't manage to do anything but hurt yourself." Dan shook his head in disbelief. What an irresponsible girl. Doesn't she care about her own well-being at all?
Dan raised an eyebrow when Fuko mentioned that there hadn't been a set date. Does she look...worried? He tilted his head and looked at Fuko, toying around with following that odd statement up with a question, but opted not to. He really didn't have any business getting involved with others' business anyway. It was rather out of character for him.
It was probably because something about Fuko or her situation just somehow irritated him, like an itch right beneath the skin or right out of reach of one's fingers. Daniel sighed. "Well, it'll be kinda hard for people to know when and where it is if there isn't a date set up...still, I'm not doing much so I'll go."
Daniel started slightly as Fuko yelled at Mizukami. A quick glance confirmed that his "mysterious aquaintance" had managed to disappear to the other side of the room, where there was a pot, of rice apparently, on an unlit burner.

"Hm."
Ayumu nodded wordlessly. At the very least, Ayumu had acknowledged that Fuuko had seen him. He initially did not want the girl to notice Mister Mumbler sneaking about, but well, since she asked him to do what he exactly was planning to do, so it worked anyway. He was... getting used to the antics of this girl, which was either very good or very bad. He did not bother to grin sheepishly at being caught; at any rate, the rice had bothered him when he was looking for something to bother him.
The many holes and the great impracticality of Fuuko's plans and movements, now that Dan's common sense has revealed them (perhaps he will have to check later if his common sense could be restored to normal working order. Or maybe he'll forget all about it.). It was enough for him that he knew that Fuuko was here, in an illegal manner, by which laws he could not say yet. He was a little afraid to investigate. Sometimes it was fun to know, and sometimes it was... not so much fun.
He moved, as was his intention, checking and double-checking the situation. "You were... cooking?" he asked. Of course it would not be cooking if the plug was not... plugged, but then again, the lass may have taken off the plug without adjusting the knob back, and it might already be cooked a long time ago, just forgotten by our little sculpting cook. Still, the kettle wasn't pristine, as if nothing had boiled in it yet, and knowing Fuuko, she would probably not make an orderly job of it.
He felt the kettle's handle, and gingerly lifted it. Water, and rice. The rice was in the water. It seemed of the right proportion. Maybe... just maybe... "How long has it been since you put it here?" he wondered aloud. Maybe she forgot to... could she even be capable of that? Oh, wonders of wonders. Truly a tourist attraction.
So... from Fuuko's plan to get people to her sister's wedding, which was metaphorically a sieve, we come across Fuuko's implementation of a usual plan to cook rice... missing a step. Oh bother.

Ibuki Fuko ___________________________________________________________________________ Fuko heard Dan snort at her. Was he not taking Fuko’s forgiveness seriously?! That was rather mean of him, laughing at her attempts to be nice. There was a temptation to revoke the forgiveness, but decided to be the bigger person and not. Still, she glared at him for the snort before moving back to the rest of her things, which included her “not doing anything that doesn’t make sense’ speech. Of course, he then refuted by saying that didn’t make sense, claiming it didn’t make sense. How did that not make sense? It was simple; Fuko never did anything that didn’t make some kind of sense. Just because he failed to comprehend what that ‘sense’ was didn’t mean it made no sense at all….and now Fuko was getting confused from the constant use of the word sense in this thought process.
”Fuko will not continue arguing about the use of or lack of sense anymore.” she replied, huffing a little while turning away, before eventually relenting to talk to him about her sister’s wedding.
Fuko’s hands glanced down at her hands real quick, which were still bandaged, when Dan mentioned she could hurt herself. The odd thing was, other than that, Fuko never really felt that exhausted for some reason. Of course she would get some sleep, but she didn’t really feel like she needed it. And food of course she usually was able to secure, but at the same time she never felt that hungry either. It perplexed Fuko greatly at this, but thought mentioning it might seem a little…weird. Fuko did not want to be known as weird (no matter the fact that was too late) for not having feelings of sleepiness or hunger.
”Other than some cuts, Fuko has not hurt herself in this endeavor and will continue to carve starfish for Fuko’s sister’s wedding. Everyone must congratulate Fuko’s sister on her wedding day, they must!” Fuko responded rather defiantly towards Dan. She really wasn’t like the way he kept, in her mind, belittling her plans. She just wanted to do her best for her sister after all; why was that so bad?
Then he mentioned that while it would be hard to do anything without a date, he would go. Fuko’s mood instantly turned from upset to one of pure joy! Anyone who would agree to go to Fuko’s sister’s wedding wasn’t a bad person at all! Before she could thank him, of course, the other person in the room was messing with her rice. Asking if it was done, he simply asked how long she had put it there. Fuko thought for a moment before responding rather proudly.
”Ten minutes ago. Fuko is proud to say she has cooked it all by herself. Very mysterious though; I had expected the water to boil or something. It must be some kind of special-new cooker.”
Without missing a beat, Fuko ran over to see how the rice was…and it hadn’t cooked at all! Fuko looked flabbergasted at this news. What had she done wrong in cooking the rice?! She had placed in the water, set it on a hotpad, then added rice. Why hadn’t it cooked? Stepping back, Fuko looked defeated; her attempt to cook had failed. ___________________________________________________________________________

As Fuko closed the argument over how much sense she was making, Daniel found it rather ironic, that the end of the argument was perhaps the most sensible thing that had happened since he had set foot in the library.
Still, there was much about Fuko that still was making no sense at all. Dan noted her quick glance to her hands, which were bandaged, and sighed heavily. "That...is exactly what I'm trying to avoid. Won't be able to make any starfish if you carve up your fingers to the point where you can't hold anything." Dan shook his head. "No offense, but that seems rather stupid to me..."
"'Fuko has not hurt herself?' You're hands look awfully injured from where I'm standing. Not that it's actually any of my business, actually..." Dan shrugged. Like I should really be one to talk...I usually try to keep out of stuff like this because I don't stay around long enough for it to matter.
When Mizukami had gone and asked how long Fuko's rice had been on the hote plate, he stepped up a bit closer to himself to get a beter view of it. "Sorry to inform you Fuko-san, but 10 minutes for rice isn't typical...at least not any variety I've ever heard of."
He looked around and noticed the plug that lead from the backside of the cooking device. "Well...I can tell you why it's not working. You forgot to plug it into the wall socket. I'll do it."
With a few short steps and a quick crouch, Dan plugged the pan back into the wall socket. "It usually helps ever so slightly if you actually have the electronics plugged in." As he stood up, he turned towards Fuko and gave another little little bow and appologize. "I'm sorry, that was rather rude of me."
As he looked over at the scene, he decided it wouldn't hurt anything else if he spent a few more minutes in the room. He had a generic sense of foreboding if he went to try to continue finding out the floorplan of the building, that something terrible would happen, likely involving the very item and rice he had just plugged back in. He neatened a set of books on one of the table and then used the cleared space to sit down for a while.

As usual, Daniel had pointed out something he hadn't been pointing out yet... the difference was that he sort of knew already why the appliance wasn't working. Leaning against the ledge near the window, he looked at the two, wondering what was going to happen next.
He was getting a bit bored. He played with the starfish sculpture Fuuko gave him, toying with it, exploring the rough parts, the grooves where the knife went astray.
He coughed a bit, and then straightened himself. "You could try cooking it again. It shouldn't have gone bad or anything." He looked around, wondering what else he could do.
The back and forth of the conversation between Fuuko and Daniel had been grating on him; he was getting a bit bored. There had been a mess, with shelves and books toppling over, the two of them discovering Fuuko in her newest hideout, and a less outrageous mess about uncooked rice... that pretty much summarizes what had happened currently. He edged himself out of the way; Daniel seems to know how to cook rice just as much as he did.
Walking over to one of the fallen shelves, he started, slowly, and with a little difficulty, heaving it back ot its proper position. The aura of the place had a homey feel, and he suspected it was not because of Fuuko, and the general toppled-over-mess was ruining it. Perhaps he'll jump back onto the two when they decide to do something else interesting... or maybe he'll just go back with looking for books again.

Ibuki Fuko ___________________________________________________________________________ So Dan had caught her glance at her hands, and is now criticizing it! They don’t hurt, or at least that was what Fuko was telling herself. As long as she could hold that knife she was going to be cutting those starfish. Besides, she had gotten much better at it; she almost never nicked herself now. Soon she would be a master starfish carver, and the world will fall in love and harmony upon witnessing her beautiful creations. But first, she had to inform this guy that she was not going to give up on her plans over those cuts. Besides, as he said, it wasn’t any of his business.
”Fuko wants you to know that my hands do not hurt and am fully capable of holding the knife. Fuko will continue to carve these starfish till everyone agrees to come to the wedding.”
To prove her point, Fuko ‘slammed’ her hand onto the table, but had to resist crying out from the sting. Okay, maybe they hurt a little bit, but as long as she didn’t hit anything like that it would go away. Still, one could tell she was experiencing some discomfort as she slowly moved her hand away from the table.
”S-see, Fuko is perfectly fine.” she whimpered.
With that done, Dan went to inspect her rice and informed Fuko that…she didn’t have it plugged in. How could she have forgotten to do such a thing! No wonder it wasn’t working. Defeated, Fuko didn’t even get upset with the sarcasm that Dan was oozing as he commented on plugging it in. However, the quiet person finally jumped in, adding that Fuko could try cooking it again. Yes, that was exactly what Fuko would do! Pushing Dan aside, Fuko plugged in the rice, and in a few minutes it would begin to bubble. Then, delicious rice for all!
”Fuko is greatly embarrassed for forgetting such a simple thing. Fuko rarely forgets to do such things.” she responded, watching as the quiet one began to heave up shelves. She had forgotten that in the earlier fight for her starfish they had knocked it over. He was a good person to be willing to put them up like that. However, she could not assist in his effort, but since he had accepted the starfish, she could at least award him with some rice.
”Fuko would be willing to share her rice with you all once it is done in honor of accepting the starfish.” she said to both of them, inviting them to eat. ___________________________________________________________________________

Daniel looked and rubbed his forehead. This was the kinda situation that would be guarenteed to give him headaches for days. When Fuko said that she could still cut perfectly fine, Dan just raised one eyebrow.
Dan flinched slightly as Fuko then slammed her obviously hurting hand onto the table. "Fuko-san, there's really no reason to be doing that. Just...please don't do that in front of me, if you want me to believe it..." He shook his head. The girl was rather childish...what year was she even in?
Still, he didn't really want to pry and he stood there looking around at the reference room until he felt Fuko try to push him out of the way so she could get to her rice. Dan stepped aside and watched as Fuko went to recook her rice. Something tells me it's not going to go well this time either...but it's really none of my business...
He sighed and shook his head slightly then looked around. Where had Mizukami gone? He spotted the other in a few moments pushing some of the shelves back up into their proper places. Well, it was better than standing around watching rice cook.
"Let me help you with that, Mizukami-san." Dan stepped over to another shelf, since Mizukami had already gotten the first one up. Daniel easily righted the shelf and moved onto the next one. His physical strength was evident as Dan easily righted the heavy shelves. "I'm responsible for some of the mess, I should clean some of it up at the very least."

Mizukami Ayumu watched in half-fascination as Daniel continued to try to reason with Fuuko. As far as he was concerned, he has come to the conclusion that Fuuko wasn't somebody you talked to, naturally... well, he was no expert in talking, but Fuuko's system of logic was more skewed than his.
He wondered how long Daniel would persist; he was generally a good guy, seeing as he persisted with the girl, and seemed to genuinely care for her little crazy well-being. He wasn't like that... he had been thinking the same thoughts again and again, and he guessed he must be appreciating the new guy's generous nature. Hohum.
"Have you any viands?" the boy asked Fuuko, as he finished the first shelf. If she was going to treat them, it had better be worth it. He wasn't really a big fan of eating rice by itself, though certain variants, like fried rice, or those specifically made into sweets, were okay without much else. Food was one of the topics were Ayumu was specially alert. Other categories included the plots of his stories and Furukawa-senpai. Other things had a way of paling and fading to black. Well, at least he knew his priorities.
"Thanks." he said, nodding at Daniel as he righted the shelves. He wasn't really much of a strongman, and it was with difficulty that he heaved up his second shelf. There weren't many, even if it seemed so catastrophic when he first was witness to it... he looked around at the books, wondering if there was a specific way of classifying them. Some seemed a little too old already...

Ibuki Fuko ___________________________________________________________________________ ”But Fuko is…Fuko is fine. Carving is no big deal still…” Fuko replied, still wincing as her hand stung. The girl who was here while back had helped, but apparently her hand had not healed as much as she thought it had. Still, she was not going to admit that she could not carve her starfish, nor was she going to let this boy think so as well. She glared at him defensively, even if one could tell that it hurt without needing any leaps of logic to do it.
Eventually it seemed like he backed off, and the topic turned to the rice that she had, apparently, failed to cook. Getting out the box of rice again, and making sure the thing was plugged in this time (how could she have forgotten such a simple step?), Fuko used the instructions to begin cooking the rice again. Within minutes one could start to tell that the water was getting warmer. As Fuko prepared the food, she heard Mizukami mentioned something about viands. What the heck were viands? Were they some kind of alien vegetables or something? It sounded alienish, or at least foreign. Yeah, the latter made more sense, so Fuko would have to let the boy no that she did not have some kind of foreign vegetable.
”No, Fuko is sorry to inform you that there are currently no foreign vegetables in this room to Fuko’s knowledge. So please enjoy the rice once it is done. There may be other foods in these cabinets though.” Fuko added, remembering that the non-Magical Nurse girl had indeed cooked more than just rice. However, Fuko couldn’t remember where that stuff was so she just focused on the rice while the two boys began to move up shelves. Once it was back up, Fuko heard the noise and turned around.
Fuko didn’t really help with propping up shelves though. She was too small for such things, and she had to keep an eye on the rice. Besides, the two of them were doing a splendid job; she didn’t need to interfere with it at all. Instead she just leaned against the counter and watched as they lifted up shelves. As she stood there, however, here eyes spotted what she had been looking for earlier; a book on sea animals, and there was a starfish on the cover! Unable to resist, she was drawn to the book, oblivious to whether or not she was in the other two’s way. Grabbing the book, she hugged it close to her and ran back to her spot.
Opening it to the section on starfish, it didn’t take long before she was lost in her own little world, and she closed her eyes in pure joy at the sight. Starfish were just so wonderful! How could anyone hate such small, adorable little creatures, with their little legs and bumps. Getting lost in her own world, Fuko missed hearing the water starting to bubble, but when some of it sprayed out and hit her, she woke up instantly and let out a yelp. Looking around like a frightened little animal, Fuko saw the bubbling water and rushed to turn it down to a safer, cooking level. Hopefully the rice wasn’t ruined. She was starting to get hungry after all.
