I just got glasses this afternoon.
I've never really considered my slightly blurry vision to be a handicap, but it was a startling contrast, the clearness when I wear the glasses and the not-so-sharp world when I take them off. They still give me a weensy bit of a headache, and I have yet to get used of them perching on my nose, but hopefully we'll get along with each other.

Welcome to the glasses club! I've had mine since 4th grade, so it's been a while since I've had them XD. I personally think I look better with glasses XD.

My mother said I look good in them... I'm not completely sure if I really do. XP

Oh god, I know how you feel.
I've only had mine for about... I dunno, a year and a half to two years now. It certainly IS odd how at first you never consider your blurry vision a handicap, and then all of a sudden the world is in high definition. xD
To be honest, you'll get used to them fairly soon. And in even more honesty, you'll hate them. D: I know I was always like, "dude, I want glasses!" and was all happy to get them... But once I'd had them for a month I was super annoyed with them. D:
Only thing positive I can think of about glasses is that when you wear loads of eye makeup, it doesn't look like quite as much with the glasses, but I guess such a thing wouldn't affect either of you males. xD
Worst part is, the more you wear your glasses [necessarily, of course]... The worse your vision gets. I know I used to be able to sit BACK in my chair comfortably with them off at the computer, and now if I do that it's somewhat difficult to read the screen. xD
But... yay glasses?

And yes, I don't really understand the stuff about make-up... my father nags me that my vision will get worse if I don't put them on. XD Well, he could be right... at any rate, the reason I actually asked for glasses is that I can't read the whiteboard in a certain class anymore (It's a lecture hall, the whiteboard is farther than usual.)
I do hope I don't hate them so much. Yay.

I've had my glasses for about a year now...I apparently look two-three years older. Only problem I have with mine...I occasionally lose them before swimming in my pool...

Ohoho, random lame thread revival, but I'm finally going for an opt appointment tomorrow. Yay...
So I'll probably have new frames in roughly a week or so. I'll at least get my prescription tomorrow, and I'm pretty sure it's strengthened, but depending on when my mom and I go to look at frames will kinda decide when I get a new pair. For now I've got my old pair, but lately I've been having trouble reading my computer screen without my 19-inch monitor plugged in, and that's when I'm 2-3 feet away from it WITH my glasses on.
And, despite that, I broke the arm on them about a month ago, but I was a little "meh" about it since I don't have to drive and it's just summer vacation.
