What is this place?
Dango Daikazoku is a slice of life roleplay forum with an "anime aesthetic". We've been in the business for 10 years and as such, we have quite the extensive history of characters and stories on this site. You, too, can join us and immortalize your own story!

What's the setting of this roleplay?
All events in Dango Daikazoku take place in the fictional town of Hikarizaka in Japan in the year 2003. It is a small in-land town that is quickly growing into a small city. Expansion into nearby natural biomes such as a large forest is a standing concern of the town populace. The town is based on Hikarizaka from the town of the same name in the anime/visual novel Clannad.

Wait, Clannad? Do I need to have seen Clannad to enjoy this site?
Nope! Clannad is only relevant as the basis for our setting. We consider our site to take place in an alternate universe from Clannad proper; therefore, all character developments and site plots are up to the playerbase! While some of Clannad's characters exist in this world, they are by no means the site's priority. Perhaps to reflect this, the vast majority of our players use original characters.

Can I base my original character on characters from other universes?
Yes, this is allowed as long as you adapt the character's backstory, personality, and abilities so that they fit the setting. If you're unsure of how to best go about this, contact staff for advice, or consult the site populace over in Roleplay Development.

The site has a lot of activity in the high school. Do I need to make a student?
No, you are free to make any type of character who would conceivably live in a small growing city like Hikarizaka. Students, teachers, parents, are all valid characters. If you wish to make a student or teacher, though, be sure to check out the active character list to see which characters attend which classes!

Are there any restrictions regarding character types?
Yes, there are a few restrictions currently in place to keep the setting grounded. Please read the Characters Guidelines for more information.

What is the "Another World" board?
The Another World board is a place for your to let your imagination soar. Every thread in that board is contained within its own alternate universe, so you can truly go wild! Use it as a chance to RP in a different genre or setting, or to try new character ideas out before bringing them to the main site! Just be sure to follow the site Code of Conduct. You do not need to have an approved character on the site to use Another World -- it's open to anyone who has an account.

Okay, how do I join?
If you’re interested in joining, that’s great! The first thing you should do is read the Code of Conduct and Character Guidelines over at Our Rules. Then, you'll have to fill out a character application.
