Chitose was quick at grabbing a replacement bento from the cooler. He'd gone over his options for a long while earlier and considered what he wanted. It was chicken, but that was no longer an option. He instead settled for a bento with some tiny sausages and rolled omelets. Eggs were practically chickens... or so he told himself.
With a light sign of frustration at the impossibility of getting anything else, Chitose began moving to the front of the store.
It was a brief exchange, though Chitose didn't like it. He paid for his bento and received as well as the one that had gotten ruined. It didn't take much to believe that Chitose was the one who'd grabbed it, and Chitose wasn't about to turn down that girl's kindness. She'd more or less paid for it... and then even a little more.
No point in causing a ruckus. Chitose swallowed his pride and gulped audibly as he accepted the few, rude words the cashier had for him in response. It was typical, but under normal circumstances, Chitose would probably slam his fist down on the counter and raise his voice in response.
Chitose balled his fists tightly and his face reddened slightly as he was about to give in and begin to return insults and threats towards the cashier...
But he didn't.
He looked past the shopkeep and placed the money down to end the transaction and conversation. He didn't apologize, but what he saw helped him not make a huge scene. For the time being. He'd offered to walk the girl waiting by the door home. It was dark out and potentially dangerous. Chitose didn't want to make that step even worse by pissing the cashier off... who knows if'n they'd call the cops on Chitose or something, or even worse, associate Bento-girl with being an ass as well.
Oh well.
Chitose calmed himself and moved to meet up with Bento-girl, leaving what little change would have been given to him behind. Leaving the cashier before they could waggle their finger even more. He did, however, "accidentally" hook and knock over a small stack of shopping baskets over near the end of the till as he left. Chitose never bat an eye and simply kicked them away from where he was walking.
"So then, where ya live Bento-girl?"
He motioned with his head towards the streetlight-lit street outside.
