Avatar Image, Takahata Shio ; Tokyo Xanadu /Animated Sprite is Sonohara Chitose (Original) ; Myself
Basic Information
#Name ; Sonohara Chitose
#Age ; 16
#Gender ; Male
#Sexuality ; Heterosexual
#D.O.B. ; August 30 1986
#Occupation ; Student
#Year and class ; 2nd Year 2-B
#Height ; 184 cm (6’0” ft)
#Weight ; 79 kg (174 lbs)
#Physique ; Lean Mesomorph (Muscular, but a lean-toned appearance)
#Hair color and style ; Black naturally; bleached and dyed golden-blonde worn long in a low ponytail. Styled bangs with occasional braid(s) draping down either side of his face.
#Eye color ; Red
#Other appearance details ; Fair-skinned with a muscular body and sharp eyes that seem to be stuck in a perpetual state of irritation and/or anger. His body posture is aloof and lax, tending to slouch forward with hands in his pockets (or at least thumbs tucked inside) which tends to make him appear a few inches shorter than his full-standing height. When walking casually he moves with a lazy gait to his steps, though when more serious his body straightens and his movements become more confident, rigorous, and aggressive-looking.
#Clothing styles ; He wears his uniform clean but sloppy; the jacket never buttoned in the front, his shirt rarely buttoned at all (never fully), exposing a red t-shirt underneath, his tie either in his pocket or loose, and his pants slightly baggy (but never sagging). His jacket is modified slightly with a golden chain and clasp (in the shape of a lion’s head) in the front slightly lower than the fold of the collar. More often than not he wears the jacket over his shoulders like a cape and uses the chain and clasp to keep it in place.
Casually he dresses similarly, though normally only wears a jacket in the fall/winter months (clasped in the same manner mentioned above). Otherwise, he wears slightly baggy t-shirts with baggy, black combat pants. His shoes away from school are almost always red and white tennis shoes. His casual outfits also tend to incorporate two simple wallet chains connected to a belt loop.
Additionally both his ears are pierced in three places each. A simple stud on each lobe and two rings along each helix.
Even though underaged he does smoke and can be caught smoking on occasion when alone or secluded. It’s less habit and more of a crutch to keep himself calm; a crutch to his anger issues. He does not drink as the smell of beer had turned him off of it as it reminds him of his father.
#Personality ;Hot and cold balled into one and ready to explode from the dramatic differences in temperature. Chitose tends to keep a cool attitude and a cold demeanor but is prone to get worked up into an icy-firey rage, not unlike a savage beast. His temper knows no bounds as does his stubborn attitude to keep pushing forward. He prefers to get things his way and has a tendency to play by his own rules due to a powerful disdain for being controlled by another. This makes him come across as cold, uncaring, rebellious, and rude.
Despite such shortcomings, he's actually a good person deep inside. He cares deeply for the safety of his friends and allies and will go through any lengths to protect or encourage them. Loyal, caring, and attentive is what he is deeper inside from the crude man he seems on the surface. He's got a penchant for keeping his intentions inside, a real kuudere kinda guy. He doesn't lie about his feelings, but rather doesn't talk about them but pays attention to the needs of others all the same.
He might seem like a lone wolf type, but in reality, he yearns for friendship and intimacy.
His overall morals are fairly grey and he doesn't mind playing dirty in a rough/dire situation, but otherwise prefers to give the challenges in his life a fair go out of a sense of pride. His rough home-life has led him to become cynical and has warped his sense of morality to where he doesn't see much wrong with things society normally sees as bad other than extreme bullying, theft of non-petty objects, and murder... Granted, the latter never really come up other than in the news. He's a true delinquent. A nuisance and menace to authoritative figures as he tends to test his boundaries often.
He has trust issues and stemming from a cynicism that causes him to not believe in the word of others. He takes the word of others fairly dismissively though will attempt to give them the benefit of the doubt. This leeway of trust is quickly revoked and hard to foster in others as he is quicker to dismiss than to bond with others. Secretly he hopes that he can find some people who are trustworthy and accept him for who/what he is.
This trust issue and cynicism has also caused him to be rather dismissive towards others. This attitude is in quite an extreme state and has developed into a warped sense of impermanence towards people he doesn't respect and/or trust. A checkered past of people coming and going from his life and even the likes of his own father betraying him left Chitose believing that the people who enter into his life will soon be leaving. Nobody wants to be associated with a delinquent after all... This too has affected his grades in history as he has a tough time distinguishing one dead guy from another without the use of nicknames. Yes! Names go in one ear and out the other... but nicknames are forever.
Albeit, not very good nicknames. Chitose has a much easier time differentiating one person from another with the use of nicknames resulting from his first meetings, first impressions, or personal descriptive notes. His sense of choosing a nickname is quite simplistic, however. Fangy for a person with an extruding tooth, Prez for the student council president, Bun-bun for the girl with high twin-tails, or Stumbles for the guy who strumbled backward when realizing that they were standing next to one another. Very imaginative, I know, but despite how simplistic the nicknames are he can place them to the correct people without fail. He saves the effort of memorizing names for people he comes to like, respect, trust, or idolize... At least his inability to memorize names has no effect on his science, math, or other such classes. There're no names in most of them. History and literature? He BETTER be taking some lengthy notes... or at least getting some smart kid to make some for him.
#History ;Sonohara Chitose was born a healthy baby boy… though, you wouldn’t be able to tell that by his name as “Chitose” is a markedly feminine name. He was given such a feminine name as his parents fully believed and felt that he was going to be born a girl (refusing to learn his gender from ultrasounds during pregnancy) and settled on the name based on the given name of his great-grandmother months in advance. His parents followed through with the name after he was born, thus so was the fate of young Chitose with black hair like his father and red eyes like his mother.
He was born the family's second child after his elder sister Yuriko who had been born nine years prior. The next six years were wonderful, though his mother’s health was affected negatively after his birth. She did her best to instill her ideals of kindness, protection, and self-pride into her children as their father led by example as a high ranking police officer who strived to protect and serve. It wasn’t until after that sixth year that the third Sonohara child, Mimi, was born and their mother’s health deteriorated even further into a severe illness.
As their mother grew weaker and sicker their father grew more distant to the children. The sicker she grew, the more distant he became until eventually, she passed in the night two years after Mimi’s birth. After passing away their father grew not only distant but resentful as well. It manifested slowly at first, though it was quick to become full-on abuse only a year later. He was rougher on the older children and just about outright ignored Mimi entirely.
This shift caused Yuriko and Chitose to act out violently and destructively, and only caused their father to escalate his abuse even further the worse the two became. Mimi, who was relatively spared of any physical abuse, was practically raised by the television and managed to distract herself in her younger years with anime and games.
Over time he revealed that the reason why he treated them in a negative manner was that it was justified in that they were the reason for their mother’s decline into death. A belief he carried strongly and voiced/showed just as strongly over the course of a year. He did the bare minimum to keep the children taken care of. Food, school tuition, and a VERY meager (shared) allowance left pinned to the fridge.
The abuse grew to be bad enough that Yuriko ran away during her third year of high school, leaving Chitose to more or less care for Mimi as well as himself. Beyond acting out and the occasional fight he also did small jobs to earn enough money for everything other than food in both his own and Mimi’s life. This strained lifestyle only lasted for a year until Yuriko found herself working for a stylist on the other side of town who had offered the Sonohara kids the apartment above the salon the stylist owned. Chitose and Mimi were quick to escape the further escalating abuse of their father to live with Yuriko.
Their father did not stop them… though there were signs that he did not want them to leave.
The weight never truly lifted from Chitose’s shoulders and continued to hang on him causing him to remain aloof and cynical towards the existence of kindness and justice that wasn’t wrought by his own hands (and by extension, his siblings’ hands). Yuriko handled Chitose and Mimi’s tuition costs for school on her salary, though Chitose continued to find small part-time jobs or did small tasks for additional money (minor physical labor mostly).
Regardless, it was time to move on. Chitose was still rough around the edges though he had managed to become less hardened and settled more into being cold and aloof rather than aggressive and hotheaded. Warped yet without constant negative input put him on left him with a lot to work out himself. It also left him without a direction to go as he never fully thought about his future before his freedom from his father’s tyranny. He planned to ride out the last few years of high school and hope to find… SOMETHING. Something to work towards or believe in.
Until then, he was going to follow his own path, his own way.
A recovering delinquent and hotheaded youth still learning that his life is no longer constantly being scrutinized he still lashes out an pushes his limits. The only goal he has is to save up enough or find a way to get himself a motorbike so that someday he can escape their small town for greener, larger pastures and further escape his father… to which he continued to dye his hair blonde to keep himself from resembling him too much. The Roleplayer's Corner

#Sample Writing ;His shoes crackled against the gravel of the pavement beneath him, his feet barely lifting off the ground as he lazily proceeded down the moonlit streets of the rural roads of the outskirts of town. Normally at this time, he would be wandering throughout the innermost streetlight-lit streets near its center, but something about the steel and concrete buildings made him feel trapped. He had no idea which road he was on specifically but knew that he wasn’t too far out as he saw a streetlight ahead of him a couple dozen meters in front of him down the road.
A park. Was there a park out here on the fringes? Must be.
He took a turn at the lamppost and found himself wandering into a dimly lit fenced area. A lonely path of concrete led through the wide recreational area past a couple of benches, a picnic table, and finally stopping at a small playground area adjacent to a grassy field. A peaceful scene to be sure, if not faintly nostalgic as well.
When was the last time he played? Eh… it didn’t matter anyway.
He stepped onto the grass and moved to sit down to relax for a bit. He’d been walking all afternoon and it was surely late into the evening now. His legs ached, though he’d been ignoring them for a while now. The sudden relaxation hit him and he sighed slowly as the relief hit.
A red-eyed gazed tilted upwards to gaze up at the stars and moon. The night sky was much clearer the further away from the center of town you got. It was nice to see more lights for once.
The walk here had been quite worth it… though soon enough he would be needing to make the hike back. He needed at least a small bit of sleep before school tomorrow… but for now, he believed it to be only himself… and the stars.
