Time: 3:26 PM Date: 3rd June, 2003 It was the end of a day, and school was ending. Near the gates of Hikarizaka High School, students that were early out of lesson were all rushing off to get home as quickly as they could for whatever reason. It was a fairly windy day, with a stratospheric cloud covering the sky and hiding it from the world, no light peeking through. As a result, many students that even hadn't finished lessons just yet were itching in anticipation to grab their stuff and go, in fear of it raining.
The possibility of it raining didn't appear to discourage one particular little beast, however. Botan scrambled through the trees near to the school, climbing the hill quickly. Of course, the reason Botan wished to climb the hill was because his owner was going to have finished school soon. Not even Kyou was aware of how exactly Botan knew what time to head up to the school gates, but it was likely through repetition or extraneous factors that he picked up on.
Arriving in the general vicinity of the front gates, Botan remained in the bushes as the first wave of students began to run out and through, watching them walk and dash past him. He didn't care, though he was in the same spot he usually waited. Poking partly out of the bush in order to watch, the only reason so many people went right on past him was because while he was pretty obvious, it was only once you noticed that he was there that you would really be able to tell how obvious it was. One of those things where you won't be able to not see it after you learn.
Botan was usually here during this, though it was usually with pretty good weather and not with the current overcast sky that provoked the children enough to make a few of them run home. Getting soaked with rain wasn't particularly pleasant, after all... at the very least, Botan wouldn't be. He was protected by bush.
All of him except for the front part, anyway.

Akiyama was conflicted, more-so than usual.
Today, his class had run oddly efficiently, and he was let out about ten minutes before normal. Usually, this would've been fine with him, but today was on a tight schedule. He was to return home by four-thirty, which would've normally given him forty-five minutes before he had to head home. This was not enough time to eat out before he trekked back home, so he was happy that he didn't have to think about risking a quick dinner. However, now that he could leave, he had fifty-five minutes, a risk but probable possibility indeed.
So, when the teacher dismissed the students, and they began to shuffle excitedly through the sliding doors, Akiyama made no attempt to move, instead staying still with a solemn expression as the few who stayed behind to clean did their work. He was like this for a good four minutes, which he, subconsciously, knew eliminated the possibility of eating in an actual restaurant. He only left after an encounter with a cleaner, and even then he sluggishly escaped the place.
The sun was little help in the classroom, having been blocked completely by the clouds. Akiyama sat stagnant in his own desk, still staring at where the teacher had been mere moments before. The only sounds that disturbed the silence were the quiet swishes of brooms and erasers.
It stayed like this for a brief amount of time, until one of the cleaners, a boy with green eyes and blonde hair sporting a somewhat blank expression to match, looked up from his work. "Hrm...Akiyama-kun?"
Akiyama stirred at this, his head immediately snapping towards the voice, much to the displeasure of its owner, who silently jumped in a way the sorta' resembled a cat. "Oh, Eiichi, it's you..." He sighed, "What is it?"
This 'Eiichi' nodded towards the empty room, "Time to go." The aforementioned events then ensued.
Still, when he left the building, the relative amount of students near-skipping away from it was still preposterous. He could hardly squeeze through the very doors of the school itself, and when he did, he could barely walk without tripping. He thought that it was turning into the cafeteria, in a half-amused half-frightened mind.
He then continued his journey towards the gates, albeit slowly and clumsily. Soon enough, however, he was able to reach them. It was a trip worth it, as the groups thinned out when they left the premise, giving him room to breath (Though it was still crowded.) When he was able to do this, he finally became somewhat more upbeat, especially now that he didn't have to carry that heavy bag home. It even gave him satisfaction to see it sailing through the air, slightly to the left. Finally, he almost, almost grinned as it crashed into a nearby bush with an odd brown growth on it.
Wait...
He glanced down at his hand, then up to the ark that it made in the sky, and finally behind him, looking for the one who did it. While he could find none, he did scare a few people on accident when they walked by his fierce glare. (He didn't want to do that, honest.) Then, sighing, he gave up and strode, defeated, over to the bush where the bag had landed.
And he saw that odd brown growth move. Then, it turned out not to be a growth at all, but an animal that he just stared at blankly for a moment. Then, he just nodded to it in respect, reached down to grab his bag, and stood back up, staring once more at the...thing. (He admitted that it was quite adorable.)

The very last thing Botan expected while sitting in the bush, waiting for Kyou was to feel a heavy object fly over. Missing him by mere centimetres, the baby boar stood still and shivered, terrified. He felt even moreso with the huge thud it created beside him, crashing into the bush but the bush itself not being enough to stop it from hitting the ground, too. The bush wasn't exactly a very big bush, after all... Botan slowly turned around to look out of the bush, coming face-to-face with a student. The student nodded once at the boar, and the boar still shivered. That bag had nearly crushed the poor thing!
"B-Buhi, buhi..." Botan whimpered, slowly backing away into the bush, glancing around. He was absolutely petrified of what had just happened, and it may not have been Akiyama that had done it, but he had absolutely no way of knowing that; especially not if he was the one that went to pick up the bag later. However, that was the least of your worries, worrying that the boar may think you were the one to do it... after all, bowing your head meant nothing to the small brown animal. No, the boar's temper wasn't the temper you'd want to worry about...
Botan suddenly felt his eyes brighten up as he looked to the right, and hopped out of the bush, running as fast as his little legs would let him in that direction - something had drawn him in. However, that something had been a long time coming and knew about as much as Botan had... as if on cue, Akiyama would feel something heavy fly by his head; the speed upon which the object was thrown caused it to curve mid-air and hit the tree, causing it to shake powerfully and multiple leaves and other forms of life to plummet from its branches. If you looked on the ground, you'd find a dictionary, however... you probably wanted to look the opposite way, to find out where it was coming from.
The students were heavily thinned out at this point, and there were rare few students walking from the school; it just so happened that one of these was the fiery-tempered Kyou, who had had her eyes on the bush Botan usually hid out in since she'd been on the first floor, and upon seeing a bag land and nearly hit Botan, she'd rushed down. Unfortunately for you, she'd seen you pick the bag up. "I'm getting rusty..." She needed to practice more. Leaning down to pick up Botan, she stroked his brown fur. "You like picking on small animals you find in the bushes, do you?!" Her facial expression was definitely that of "anger", so if you had a quick mouth, now was the time to use it.
Unless you wanted more than a book, that was.

Upon seeing that the small...thing...was frightened, Akiyama frowned slightly. He knew that the bag that had landed in the bush wasn't all that large, even small enough to not have any harm come to it when it landed, but for a creature so small, it still would have seemed large enough to injure it. Perhaps it even was, but, with the limited knowledge that he had, Akiyama could only guess that the creature had been startled by the sudden shaking from behind him. It was only natural, after all.
Akiyama assessed the creature for a moment, trying to decide whether it was dangerous or not. (The obvious answer was no, but Akiyama didn't doubt an answer that wasn't entirely impossible.) Though, before he could do that, the boar suddenly shot off towards the crowd of students, startling but not evoking a reaction from Akiyama himself.
But then he felt....it.
He didn't quite know what it was, but it made him snap his head backwards and turn on his heel. It made him swiftly lift his leg from the ground and draw it to his abdomen. It made him exert all of his force towards a midsection of a body, should a body have been present where it was. Apparently it was not a body, it was a book.
And it made him look like a fool. Especially when he had to nearly jump backwards to avoid tumbling over.
The brown bag had long since fallen to the ground once more, and a expression of extreme concentration mixed with terrific ferocity trailed off of Akiyama's face. He looked around, suddenly hearing the words that had been spoken, and spotted a girl who bore the patch of a third-year, near screaming at him. His mind was slow after coming out of a state of such concentration so abruptly, so his face was of a child's (Innocent and stupid.) as the words registered. However, they registered just the same, and he blinked as they came through.
Sadly, Akiyama had never had a quick mouth in his entire life, so he just stood there in silence for an amount of time, with that dumbstruck expression. He showed no comprehension of the anger showed plainly on her face.
Then, after enough time for events to ensue, he said, calmly, flatly, and near deadpanning, "I'm not a sadist. I just had to get my bag. Someone kicked it over here..." It was easy to tell that his mind was not yet caught up with everything.

As Kyou watched the boy's concentration regarding the projectile, her eyes glaring daggers in his direction, she wondered what he was going to say in response. Botan wasn't usually bullied at all, but you had to be on the lookout or else who knows what kinds of people would try things... after all, Botan was a small animal and there were definitely types of people out there that loved to torture small animals like that. They'd pop up when you least expected it.
However, a lot had to be said when in making someone else look like a fool, you end up feeling like the most foolish fool who ever foolishly had a foolish reason to make anyone else look like a fool, yourself. Kyou was still on campus, this was not someone she knew, and from what he said, it wasn't even anything like what she'd thought it was. She stood there in surprise for a moment, condemning herself for acting rashly. It wasn't Youhei Sunohara, and as a result there was a good chance that he wasn't up to no good as first interpreted, despite what she was lead to believe by what she had seen. This was a problem...
Kyou shook her head and sighed, almost at herself more than anyone else. Putting Botan down on the ground and wandering closer to the boy currently recovering from what had just happened, she put her hands in front of her, bowing once. "Sorry about that." With someone she knew, she would have been more blasé about what had happened, but because it was someone she didn't know, she'd better apologise. It meant she didn't come off as some kind of brute (not that bad of a brute, anyway) and helped her retain some of her image, what with her being a class representative and all.
"I get protective over Botan. He's cute, isn't he?" She pointed out, looking down at Botan as the boar almost puffed his little chest out, staying close to Kyou but blinking and making noise. "Buhi, buhi!" It was almost as if he understood what was happening. Perhaps he did? The world would never know. Regardless, Kyou felt bad, but still had a mystery that he might be able to solve. If he couldn't, it was probably not worth chasing up. "Say... you wouldn't happen to know who did kick that bag, did you?" Otherwise known as "pushing your luck", Kyou asked him the question.
May as well dredge something that didn't end in embarrassment from this encounter, after all...
