I am doing this because of persistence, and the fact that I want to try out my new character. Gourlay Atsumori sighed as he unceremonious dropped down onto a park bench, the nearby surroundings masked by concealing shadows. He particularly liked the park, even more so this early in the morning. Not only did it house the most inspiration for his poetry, but most people would be well asleep at 5:00 A.M. in the morning.
Even more so than the park, however, Gourlay loved his poetry. It offered great confinement for problems he couldn't voice, and its cryptic scripting wouldn't offer any details on its actual meaning.
Speaking of such, Gourlay reached inside the pocket of his school blazer, and quickly pulled out a small, worn notebook, along with a pen. He wasn't feeling particularity linguistic today, but he couldn't see a reason to not try. So, he immersed himself into a blank stare, letting only the ambiance of the scenery get through.
He could stay in such a state, lost in his thoughts, for a large amount of time, trying to merge together complex terminology. Though, that was only on his good days. And, though, even if there weren't any pressing matters (Pressing meaning any stress inducing incident) to attend to, he couldn't seem to forge together words as he usually could. So, as the sun began to finally radiate some length of heat, he gave up on writing, and began to observe his surroundings.
The few surrounding trees stood solemnly in the morning light, and their leaves gingerly rested atop their mother's gentle branches.
It's amazing I can think such things to myself, yet still lack the ability to make decent poetry. Perhaps it's some sort of writer's block adapted for poetry? These thoughts filled his mind as students of varying uniforms began to meander their way through the park grounds, no doubt taking the 'scenic route' as they would label it.
It was then realized by Gourlay that, should he refrain from running at his top speed, he would most likely to be late for class. It was then, that worry began write in his stomach like a hungry creature, pleading to be fed.
So, he did run at his top speed. In fact, he almost bowled over some people, but barely avoided them and uttered a very boisterous "Sorry."
That was however, until he finally trampled someone. He didn't catch who they were as they both tumbled to the ground. When he finally came to a stop, however, he looked up, cursing himself that he had hit the only one with a school uniform for miles, to see...
It is here that I leave the person he has hit to whomever replies to this.

Such a soft sigh gently blew forth from pink tinted lips as strange thoughts plagued the mind. Waves of light blonde hair that carried the slightest hint of white scattered along the waves of the wind. Pale tinted skin carried goosebumps from the once eerie abode that it was a part of for hours in the night. Being fully bathed in the sun's fresh rays of light, a small figure dressed in the Hikarizaka High School uniform blended in with the short waves of fellow peers that dashed along. The bounding energy of their demeanor's didn't compare to the calm world of the sky above, or the soothing chimes of nature at its finest. The town could be found bustling at such a time of day, yet also there are the slightest hints of a calmness dancing with the breeze.
Light blue irises seemed to stare under long eyelashes as their attention turned towards the sky above. Decorative clouds slowly made their way across the sea of blue, and the beauty of it all only seemed to reflect in the girl's eyes. Unlike the bright colors above, her own eyes seemed to lack such vibrancy that one would normally find in another's pair of eyes. The very texture seemed so dull, so bland, and.. so lonely. In one abrupt jolt of the neck, the girl forced herself to stare ahead at the path before her that led to the school. Albeit there was only a stoic expression blanketing her features, inside she was shivering violently with the knowledge with facing another day of pure torture.
Kazue Masumi had to scream at herself within to keep pushing forward with each step - to not halt in the actions that would lead her to another day in the school. It was the simple vow to not give in to the unfortunate events that befell her each day that was keeping her afloat. Releasing the strain off her eyes in an attempt to return to the world of the living, the girl halted in her hesitant pattern, and dared to observe her surroundings. The laughter of those around had no longer been present, and the clicking of shoes against the cement ground no longer echoed through the eardrums. Masumi felt the gears inside the depths of her own mind begin to process the situation - turning much faster than before. It wasn't long before the realization sparked within, the blonde's eyes seemed to widen ever-so-slightly as she let the wall around herself fall for just a moment.
"The time..."
Kazue's voice softly faded in a bout of wind as the girl began to take a step forward until an unknown force collided with her backside. The sheer strength of the source sent her tumbling to the ground, her bag flying out of her grasp and onto the ground meters away. A small rebound was made upon impact of the cement ground, but Masumi's form was resting on the ground for a moment as she fought to regain the consciousness she had momentarily lost sight of. A small, soft-pitched groan surpassed the girl's lips before her light blue eyes were revealed under her fluttering eyelids. Willing herself to rise up, Kazue used her elbows as support as strands of light blonde hair cascaded down her shoulders; the girl had then turned her head to meet the stranger that had caused the scenario.
Her facial expression twisted into one of pure surprise as the wall that was constructed around her nearly collapsed in those moments. The girl's eyes portrayed a slight sense of shock as her lips gently parted to slightly reveal her teeth. It was then a slight stammer erupted from her quivering lips while strands of light blonde hair messily graced her face. Kazue couldn't allow herself to falter now even if it was nearly impossible.
"I-I... Are you alright? You aren't hurt, a-are you?"

Atsumori was shocked. Slightly frightened even. Because, as his eyes came to rest upon those lifeless blue orbs (Familiar, not because he knew the person well, but because he had seen such eyes in the mirror on his worst days) he realized that, not only had he managed to hit a student, but a fellow freshman as well.
Immediately, his heart began to race. Not only did he feel awful for actually knocking someone down, he also knew that this girl in particular was in class 1-B. He was very aware of her situation in bullying, even if he didn't quite know her name.
As he was staring at her, paralyzed, she let loose a delicate groan that stirred him out of his shock. As she slowly looked at him, something seemed to...change almost.
It wasn't her face, for, as it stayed it original expression, only small things unnoticeable things changed. Atsumori thought it was, perhaps, the atmosphere. Yes, definitely.
Despite that, Atsumori began to apologize. "I'm so sorry! I...uh, I was in a hurry and...and...I'm sorry!" He had spoken at the same time as her, and his stomach dropped even further into oblivion.
He now apologized again, his speech becoming even more fragmented and choked out. It seemed that he had forgotten to take his dosage of Benzodiazepine before he left home this morning, and it was showing.
Looking for comfort, Atsumori reached inside his blazer, grasping around for that small bound book in all its comfort. When his hand didn't find it, however, he almost passed out.
He began glancing around in horror, searching for his book.
Until his gaze landed...upon the book in the girl's lap, open.

It was quite a moment between them both - the peer having spoken at the same time as she did. The mesh of their differing voices created a unique sound that quickly disappeared the moment it was created into existence. The way the boy's lips twitched when his gray eyes reflected off her own light blue orbs was only the smallest of hints that time was still flowing. In the distance, the trees swayed in the wind that echoed the many leaves brushing against each other. Strange it was how that sudden bout of wind added to the change in atmosphere as if nothing else could be heard. For Kazue, it was almost as if the whole world had been put on mute save for the gentle sound of the leaves in the distance.
However, the drastic change in the boy's expression was what pulled the freshman back into reality. The previous question that had gone by unanswered before seemed to no longer require it. The hesitant movements of his fingers and hurried motions proved that not all was in sound condition. With a slight jolt to will herself to move, the light blonde positioned herself until she was properly sitting in front of Atsumori. It was in those moments passing as the boy shoved his fingertips in his front pocket that a familiarity struck the girl. This was a face that had been seen before - a face in another class at the very least. Proof that he was in the same year as she was on the very pocket itself; the green emblem indicating a first year.
Blinking without moving in the slightest, Masumi had felt herself fall deeper into the trance she had placed herself in... until the tingling sensation of someone's eyes on her ripped her away from a land of dreams. The pair of eyes was indeed Atsumori's and the direction the gray orbs were staring was on her lap. The girl felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand up in surprise at the boy's change in demeanor, and the soft fabric on her lap was the reason why. In slight hesitation, the light blonde followed the direction of his gaze to an open book on her lap decorated in neat handwriting. The words the pages beheld weren't close to what the girl herself had seen before, catching faint glimpses of the words along the lines.
"Beautiful..."
Kazue had then realized that it was a mistake to have gone reading something that appeared to be precious to him - judging by his earlier actions, that is. The girl then clumsily felt a warmth grace her cheeks as her fingertips grew cold while closing the book. "Ah, my apologies. I believe this is what you were looking for, mister...?" Holding the book up for Gourlay to take, Kazue felt her light blue orbs soften just a fraction for the class representative.

Atsumori gulped as he reached for his book, the post-anxiety chill he hated so much setting in. In all honesty, it willed him to break down sobbing for no reason whatsoever, but years of conditioning had taught hum how to stop it.
"Th-thanks," He replied, his voice finally converting back into his kind, trained speech pattern, "And, it's Gourlay Atsumori. I can't convey how apologetic. I am for running into you. It was truly a great mistake on my part."
As he spoke, his mind was in a haze. Had she seen the entirety of his poem. From what he saw, the page was open to one of his less cryptic poems. He believed it went...
Under such a gaze. My life shall continue hindered. Their stalking permeance an alarm. For that of which I cannot change. It points out my faults. And shadows my values. Until finally my life. Shall seem but a nuisance. So, I shall continue. Until such a thing occurs. For when it does, I shall not fall. To the forms of right and the forms of wrong. As not many people can say. They snarled at fate's face. And lived to see the day.
It, in his own beliefs, told of his petty fight with stress. Even if such a thing wasn't a monster, it surely was challenging.
No matter, after a few deep breaths with closed eyes, he jumped up, and offered a hand to help the woman up. "I apologize, but. I don't think we've been properly introduced."
When he looked down upon her, though, his eyes widened in slight amazement. The girl' see had a small sort of...glimmer that held an unspoken beauty. (It should also be mentioned that Atsumori's philosophy was that a person's eyes were the most beautiful part of them.) The glimmer hadn't been there before, and it made his smile widen ever so slightly. In fact, it felt like the first genuine smile Atsumori had in ages.

Such a simple word passed from the peer's lips as he gently grasped the book, it parting from Kazue's own. The smaller of the two simply released the strain off her eyelids in slow yet gentle patterns as the taller spoke with a more stable kindness. It was something that was strange to behold as not too long ago, this individual before her was in a state of disarray. To have recovered within moments hadn't gone by unnoticed. With a slight tilt of the head, the light blonde felt an imaginary bulb brighten above her head in that very second. It was in that second that she knew this name from somewhere. Where exactly from was still a mystery in itself, yet nevertheless the girl received a name despite the circumstances. That was better than nothing.
As for the apology, Masumi felt her expression shift from stoic to the smallest hint of shock. A barely visible twitch of her eyelids widening was apparent, and the shoulders shifted upwards. Thoughts sprouted from her mind in violent bursts. Why was he apologizing to her? She was in his way, wasn't she? He wasn't going to pop from the fact that she read a section of his book - something that seemed so precious to him? The thoughts just kept running rampant until the scuffle of shoes against the cement ground poked her awake. It was a habit of hers to slip away from the world of reality that she knew, and into the safe embrace of the world of her dreams. Whether it just be her thoughts or her theories... She was safest there.
With a slight notion of hesitation, light blue orbs followed Gourlay's movements as he arose to his feet. It was within that moment that Masumi realized she had left the boy without a reply to his apology. "No, no. You're just fine. It was my own fault for getting in your way." Despite the mental slap to the forehead Kazue was giving herself, that momentary self-doubt was quelled at the sight of Atsumori's hand stretching out towards her form on the ground. The freshman's gaze switched from the class representative's hand to his own expression.
It was with that moment that Kazue's orbs seemed to brighten within the passing time. The light blue color seemed to reveal itself more as they widened in utter surprise at the form of kindness Gourlay was showing. The boy's smile seemed to grow bigger than before as his expression softened. Kazue could feel her breathing slow with the passing time, and a hand curled up to rest on her chest as she sat there - almost at a loss for words. However, finding the courage to let the newly acquainted freshman past one of the many barriers the girl had set up around herself, she gently rest her hand on his own before rising up to her own feet.
"Thank you... My name is Kazue Masumi of class 1-B. I-It's nice to meet you, Gourlay."

Atsumori's stomach did a flip as the girl blamed herself for the incident. He had made yet another person put themselves in the blame, and it only made his anxiety grow ever larger.
He opened his mouth to contradict her as he pulled her up, but was cut off when she introduced herself. "It's...uh...it's nice to meet you too...Masumi-San." Once again, his speech was hindered by stress, and was fragmented. Atsumori was astonished of the fact that his façade, which he had so meticulously built, was broken twice in a short period of time by Masumi.
For a moment, he just stood there, his hazy mind from the run in obscuring his thoughts. Only after a few moments not only did he realize that the bells to class were to ring in about ten minutes, but that, should he refrain from traversing back to his residence to take his medicine, he'd likely not last through the day without a panic attack. He have to sprint, for sure. If he did that, he'd be able to keep up his outward appearance of perfection.
"S-sorry, Masumi-San, but I gotta...go, school's almost in." He'd expected to say this, and he did. However, after he cleared his throat and regain his mental fortitude, he hadn't expected to say, "Do you care to accompany me? We'll have to take a detour to my home, just in case you do."
After he said this, his mind came to a halt. Why had he said that, when he had just met this woman? Even further, he'd just be sending her into greater troubles if she accepted, seeing as she'd, probably, be late for school. Furthermore, why was he expecting anything other than rejection? Regardless, he still didn't take back his comment.
( I apologize for the confusion. Atsumori is his first name and. Gourlay is his last. I mistakingly posted his name in the traditional Japanese format.

Just as quickly as the glow in her eyes sprung to life, the vibrant colors shut away into a dull shade once again. The cause was Gourlay's voice reverting back to the state it was in before - when he had thought to have lost his book. There seemed to be something lying just underneath the surface with the smallest hints of something amiss. The fellow peer may have not noticed how Kazue's expression shifted from the usual, emotionless facade to one of genuine worry. It was rare to get such a reaction from the girl, but in a situation such as this, there was good reason to emit one.
Shifting to look along the ground, it only took a moment or two for the light blonde to find her bag that was only meters away. The contents of it were still inside yet the flap was wide open. Taking the opportunity to pick up her bag, Masumi took only a moment to close the flap before nearing Atsumori once more. "Gourlay...?" The attempt to break him out of the glazed trance he was in didn't seem to prove successful. The attempt alone was better than just standing there in a more awkward position than they both were already in.
It wasn't much longer that the boy had broken out of his self-induced trance, his bangs and eyes shifting as if a startling realization hit him. Once again, an apology flowed past his lips before announcing his departure to school. Indeed, the bell would be chiming soon. The sound itself in the end result would prove to either be a good or bad thing for them both. Kazue released the strain of her eyes before glancing to the side in a matter of shyness, nodding her head in reply to Gourlay's first statement. Although, what he had said next was something she didn't expect to hear from him.
D-Did he just... invite me to his home? And to accompany him, no less?
Shifting her glance upward to gaze up at the acquaintance, Kazue let her facade break as her eyes widened in utter surprise. Pink tinted lips parted to reveal reasonably white teeth as strands of light blonde hair cascaded down her shoulders. Masumi blinked repetitively, not making the attempt to repair the damaged portion of one of the barriers around herself. It was difficult to even fight back the small warmth rising to her cheeks at the invitation, yet at the reality of them both just standing there without a word, the girl released a soft sound to indicate her return to the real world.
Surely there was no harm in just walking with him? If he wanted to do something by now, he would have, right? With a quiet and shaky sigh, Kazue felt a twitch of a smile grace her lips. There wasn't any time to lose or let Gourlay find any more reason to lose himself. The signs were there that he most likely needed to go home in order to calm himself, and the least the girl could do was accompany him after what had happened.
"... Yes. I don't mind accompanying you or taking the detour to your home. We should hurry, though." ((That's alright, Last! No harm done.))

The hint of a blush that spread across Kazue's cheeks hadn't gone unnoticed by Atsumori. In fact, such a thing made his face turn a slight shade of red as well. He hadn't meant it like that, he'd only wanted to keep the girl company. Still, he didn't correct her, knowing it'd only lead to further trouble.
When she accepted his invitation, he was elated much more than he should have been. In fact, he realized that he was happier than he'd been in a while. Perhaps he was lonely? Atsumori had his fair share of friends, but were they really? He found himself scared for the answer, so much so that his stomach writhed once more.
Internally, he cursed himself. His thought track was pitiful. He knew such thoughts were stupid. He also knew his condition was stupid. It didn't change the fact, however, that he couldn't help but worrying. Even now, he felt his soul begging to writhe due to his late time.
Regardless, he spoke to Kazue, not wanting to install further worry. "Indeed we should. Mind if we jog?" He said it with a sentence, and began walking. Even if she hadn't wanted to jog, there was no sense in waiting time talking stationary.
As he continued, he delved into his thoughts of earlier. Had he really had any friends? Sure, he'd talked to many others before, others had talked to him. There had even been interest installed into his meetings. But, had they really wanted something other the answers to last nights homework. Or assurance for their success in class.
Atsumori shook his head briefly. Such a talent was useful for poetry. But, when overused, it could only help in destroying his self-values. He had fallen so far into his thoughts that he hadn't know if he was spoken to or not, which wasn't satisfactory. He hadn't wished to cause any further confusion to his situation.

With a discreet shake of the head, the youngling delivered a mental slap to the face to calm the fast beating of her heart. There wasn't anything to be nervous about, was there? There wasn't anything to grow embarrassed about, right? It was just a simple stroll to a home and back to the school - a race at their own pace. Still, Kazue couldn't help but feel the corner of her lips twitch into the faintest of smiles. The dying color of her cheeks signified the state of her heart coming to rest, yet there was a hole inside of her heart being filled that created a bittersweet feeling.
This was nearly how the girl had felt with her old friend in days past - Densetsu Karu.
The clicking of shoes against the cement pavement began to resound, signaling the blonde to follow behind the class representative in a respectful manner. A soft sound escaped her before she fell into the rhythm of her own pace. His voice was soft and more stable than before this time around. The shifting behaviors of Gourlay hadn't gone unnoticed the peer, and she felt that it was better to not point out the bouts where the boy would lose himself almost at the flick of a switch.
Nevertheless, the girl nodded to herself before replying to his statement. "I don't mind. Whatever you feel delivers us to school on time, we should take..." Even though she had trailed off, leaving out the rest of what she was thinking in her mind, the main reason was to also calm down the soul before her.
Although, a reply was not returned.
It was in that moment of silence that the Masumi raised an eyebrow with a low hum. It was apparent that Atsumori's gaze was cast towards the ground below, a cloud blanketing over his eyes. She had seen this expression before, and was even victim to it herself in more ways than one. She knew within that moment that it would be difficult to break the class representative out of his self-induced trance if she didn't take a different course of action. Kazue then felt her fingertips grow warm as she released a soft sigh, encasing her fingers around the boy's wrist in a gentle fashion before beginning to jog - careful to begin at a slow pace for him to catch up. Strands of blonde hair bounced as she jogged with the boy's wrist still in her grasp, her other hand carrying the school bag she had grown accustomed to like everyone else.
Turning her head to get a better view of his reaction, Kazue softly spoke up with a hint of concern in her blue orbs. "Are you alright, Gourlay? I'm a bit worried about you." And that was the only feeling she would admit to the freshman before her within this time.

It was only after a few moments of walking that Gourlay realized he was jogging. It took even longer for him to notice the delicate hand, wrapped gently around his wrist. For a moment he just stared at it in, what seemed to be, confusion, before his attention was directed towards the dainty voice of Kazue.
It took a moment for the question to properly settle with him. It was like he was awakening from a dream, which he assumed was partially correct. However, he still nodded, with that pleasant, dead, smile.
"I'm fine, Masumi. Have no worry, my mind just seems to be preoccupied as of late. Such things will pass with time, as all troubles do."
With this sentence, he matched her pace in jogging, not making any notion of actually seeing the hand wrapped around his wrist.
Just as he did this, though, he saw the beginnings of the residential district appearing, and along with it, his residence. The calm whitewashed walls muttering together with the many others. He knew his mother would be out by now, off to the hospital, but his father.
Well, his father would be home...
That meant, if he'd wanted to avoid his teasing, Kazue would need to stay outside. But did he really want to do that? Such a thing would be viewed oddly, not to mention how if might make her feel, so he said, as he strolled up to his front door.
"Would you like to come in, it's awfully chilly outside today."

There it was again. Such a pleasant, dead smile betraying Gourlay Atsumori's features. It was almost as if Kazue was staring right into a mirror, unaware of her slowly transgression from an emotionless facade to an almost concentrated glare. It wasn't one of near hostility or innocent gleam, but it was an expression of a girl trying to see past one of the many barriers of the peer before her. Regardless, she took Gourlay's reply into consideration and nodded her head after a moment of silence. Light blue colored orbs seemed to flash with life for a moment - their vibrant colors bouncing back into existence before disappearing into the darkness once more.
The freshman class representative began jogging at her pace, the delicate grip she had around his wrist not being shaken off or even pried off by his hands. Instead, the boy just let it happen to which confused the blonde. However, she simply let her hand fall to her side as they jogged side by side in a momentary lapse of silence. She still let his words play again and again a few times in her subconscious before speaking up softly.
"Well... If you need to talk about something - anything - I don't mind if you want to come to me or something, Gourlay."
With that said, Kazue did not dare to peek at the reaction he may have made towards her. She instead kept her eyes forward out of pure concentration as if it was the deciding factor of whether another embarrassing event would occur or not. Within another few moments, the border of the residential district began seeping into their view along the horizon. After crossing the necessary streets and turns to reach said district, the Masumi felt a sense of relief wash over her as the seconds kept ticking by. Each moment they got nearer, the more closer they would be in getting to school on time. Then a realization fired into the center of her brain, sparking to life a thought that should have birthed quite a while ago as the girl halted on the path to Gourlay's doorway.
Surely, one of his parents had to be home at this time... True that there was always the possibility that they both weren't present, which meant she could avoid an awkward confrontation with someone's parent - someone that she just met. A lump slid down her throat at the thought as she had felt her heart quiver underneath her chest. She hadn't ever met someone else's guardians before, and the aura around her being was growing out to be more awkward with each passing second. As her light blue eyes shifted upwards in an almost childlike innocence to observe the home, Gourlay's voice shattered her out of her lapse of panic.
He asked her if she wanted to come inside.
Staring out under long eyelashes, eyelids opening and shutting simultaneously, the freshman hesitated for a moment out of awkward tension before a hand grasped the wrist that was holding her bag. The cold bit at the fractions of skin that were revealed from the school uniform, and the flowing wind didn't make the temperature to bear with any easier. If she had also rejected his offer, she was wondering whether it would be considered rude or even hurtful to the lad. Kazue nodded her head slowly while the strand of hair stretching down the middle of her face was bouncing slightly with her movements, said girl standing in place nervously - her body language almost speaking for how she was feeling at the moment as she shifted her weight.
"I... Thanks. It's... It's pretty cold out here, yeah."
It wasn't too long until the Masumi lifted her head up while her shoulders shifted backwards to stand tall. The hand grasped around the wrist holding her own bag never left, and she slowly began to make her way to the door while observing Gourlay's movements - listening to whatever he had to say next if anything at all.

My writing scheme...it's back!
Kazue's reply hadn't gone unnoticed as they traversed their way towards Gourlay's home. He had simply left the statement up to silence's reign, knowing it to be a valid answer.
When they did reach their location, he did not miss the hesitation present in Kazue's voice, nor did he judge it. He knew that such an offer wasn't meant to be taken lightly. Despite this he still opened his door for her, and stepped back to allow her to go in. When she did, he soon followed with scanning eyes. Surprisingly, they found no trace of his father. Such a thing was a relief to Gourlay, more so than he could have imagine.
"If you'll excuse me, I'll be back in a moment." he said this with the ever present suspension that his father was lurking about. Still, he darted off to his bedroom, and grabbed the bottle of pills that rested upon his drawer. Soon, he gulped down two of them and already he could feel some of the slighter effects. Having no reason to stay, he soon began to make his way back towards the main room. Though, he stumbled in his endeavors about halfway there.
Suddenly, he was able to remember something worrying. When his notebook had fallen, he knew not how long it rested upon her legs, nor if it landed in the exact position it had been when he saw it. There was a slight possibility, should her vision have graced the back cover, that she could have seen those four words.
Those for simple words whose simplicity was titanic yet their damage, unimaginable. Those four words that Gourlay wished so badly to part with but was unable to due to necessity. Had she seen it, there was a large possibility his facade would come tumbling down in an instant.
Surely...no. She couldn't have seen it. Impossible, improbable, outrageous.
Still, as righted himself and began to walk towards the main room once more, he couldn't hold back a small tremble.
m When he finally arrived, he spoke to her, uncaring in the fact of his father's absence. "Well then, shall we be off?"

A cool breeze gently brushed against pale tinted skin upon the entrance to the Gourlay household. The girl dared to press forward until she was completely within the building, her lids closing to release the burning sensation off her eyes. The nervous tension within the underlying muscles were still present and not refusing to relieve itself from her spirit. Instead it held the Masumi captive as she stood dormant within the entry area of Gourlay's humble abode. There was previous conversation of his father possibly being present, but as Kazue gently opened her eyes to reveal clouded orbs of light blue, there wasn't such a figure present at all. It seemed that either fate smiled down upon them or luck was simply on their side for this time.
Grasping the wrist holding her bag with a small free hand, Kazue fluttered her eyelids simultaneously between short periods of time in hopes to lessen the awkward tension in the air before Gourlay announced his leave. The peer darted off in a direction unfamiliar to her with haste, and it was then that (once the boy was out of earshot), a sigh escaped the blonde's pink tinted lips ever-so-slowly. The freshman's absence from her side had given her time to think upon all that has happened while the sense of loneliness returned. In such a short and hectic time there had been quite a bit learned about Atsumori himself. From his body language, stutters, to his journal containing beautifully written words contained in secrecy on paper never meant for her eyes...
The youth couldn't help but soften in both body and soul, the very color in her eyes no longer holding such a dull color. It was as if a sense of magic birthed life within her in those passing moments - the color of her body springing to much more vibrant colors as if she seemed to almost glow. The words of Gourlay's poem danced along the recesses of her mind in a beautifully rhythmic tune akin to a lullaby, as if she could understand where the boy himself was originating from in a sense. The touch of the cover had been soft at first, yet when she rubbed a cold fingertip against the fabric, it warmed within the moments of it having rested on her lap.
Little had she known those four words that held such a deep meaning on the back cover held such a destructive yet powerful meaning - words that were long forgotten in the depths of her memories. With Gourlay's voice softly pulling the girl out of her trance, strands of her hair seemed to hang in the balance as her features dramatically changed to one of surprise. A barrier that the girl had worked so hard to set around herself had fallen, and it was showing on her face when she gazed to Atsumori in an almost innocent manner. It was if she didn't remember where she was or what she was doing in his home. Without another moment passing, Kazue abruptly nodded her head as she swiftly turned towards the door with a stutter flowing past her lips.
"Y-Yes. N-Now that you got your medication taken care of, you should be good for the day."
Kazue's vibrant color creating a veil around her form didn't disappear, and she kept speaking without even making eye contact with her fellow classmate.
"... Thank you, Gourlay."

When Gourlay took notice of the sheer nakedness of a facade on Kazue's face, he wasn't surprised in the least. In the past few minutes, he had learned about as much of her as she had of him. He'd also learned that they were similar in many ways, and in the mornings, such an expression of emotion wasn't alien to him. So, he'd ignored it. However, when she turned around and offered her thanks, he was stunned. Why did he deserve such a word now? He couldn't see anything that warranted it. So, speaking softly, he said, "Thanks? What have I done for such things?" And then, as he awaited her answer, he saw a note attached to the door with a piece of tape. It read...
Dear Son, Around the time you left, I got called out to work on an emergency. Apparently , some idiot wrecked the company car, and their too lazy to do the work themselves. So, they called me in, seeing it as an 'entitlement' of my paycheck. I probably won't be back until late, most likely later than your mother from their description of the damage. Help yourself to the leftovers in the fridge.
Oh, and don't even think about bringing any girls over...
Without me...
Sincerely, Gourlay Bairei Gourlay felt his eye twitch rapidly. What kind of person did such a thing, saying what he did. And he'd somehow managed to incorrectly use their! Then again it was his father who did it, and that fact in and of itself told him why. He could only hope that Kazue didn't see the note. So, in a last ditch effort to preserve his reputation and relations with Kazue, that of which he'd only just built, he quickly ran to the door and opened it, and held it for her to leave.
