Or, rather, design ideas.
All right. Well, all things considered, while the layout Selene built for this place is pretty nice, I personally think it's time for a change. We've had it for at least over a year now - as the first change I ever did to the skin was for our Valentines' skin, which was in February - and I think it might be nice for a change. Yeah, we always mostly change the colours, but I think we need something bigger than that.
It's going to have the same [or similar] layout in terms of having a solid colour image as the background [though I may spruce that up a bit, not entirely sure as of yet] and an image at the top. What I need, however, are design ideas for that top image and how it should be made. At the moment I personally can't come up with any, but if anybody's got any ideas, that would be AWESOME. And even still, it doesn't just have to be a blah solid colour style, as if I save the image as a .xcf and back the image up, then I can change things on the image multiple times without having to redo it.
Anyway, some input from our members would be *great*.

Hmm, well, I think we could shift the affiliates bar area to the bottom in a table like.... pkmncaterwaul.proboards.com/index.cgiThen again, maybe the sidebar area is good XD. Anyway, we could probably revamp all the sidebar images as well; those are getting kind of old. As for the top image stuff and the border things.....I got nothing XD.

I made this very quickly. In a minute, if that. Maybe a picture featuring the whole cast in one spot behind the text? Or at least the main cast for the top picture?

I was actually considering removing the fact that it says "Dango Daikazoku", maybe, simply because... well, the banners for each of the skins say "Dango Daikazoku" on them as well.

Yeah, and that would also free up skinning a bit since now everyone can use older skins as well without the conflict in the banner vs. background XD.

For the top image, maybe you use the circle of dango from the ending theme (or a portion of the circle).

Considering the width of the forum, I don't think using that will really work all that much.
What I was thinking of doing was modifying the image to something maybe with a white or other neutral colour behind the forum, then modifying each of the skins so they'll look good with it. We'll still do our new monthly skins and such, but we'll have a new design.

I like the sound of a white background. As for modifying the skins to match, would a white-to-color gradient on the skins look snazzy? Something that's along these lines? (excuse the eyesore, I wasn't sure how else to depict it. :/)

I found a code that lets us have different headers/footers for each skin, and I know somewhere I can externally host them, so I think I'll be going with that.
The gradient itself wouldn't work simply because of a) the length of the forum and b) the fact that the background colour is all one tiling image. I'm not so much talking about the background as I am the DESIGN for the image at the top. What I essentially need is along the lines of what Celena suggested, something that's a general idea but can be fitted to each skin, per se.

A code for headers/footers for each skin! . Then we can FINALLY get a use out of the other skins XD.

Depends, I don't know how many of the modified images for the skins I lost when my computer shat on me last year D:
If anything, what I might have to do is remove/redo/update the remainder of the old skins just so we can use them. I need to figure out how the code itself works, however, before I even go about using it.
...and also need to design the new skin concept. But I'm still stuck on what exactly we should do...
