"It's been a long time since I've been up here."
Of course it has been. Ageha Fujihara knew about her health limitations to no end. They weren't major though, much to her relief. Perhaps she had not recieved sufficient amounts of certain vitamins as a child. Her family wasn't poor enough to be malnourished though. Nor was it filthy rich. The Fujihara residence was a mundane sort of house hold, with a father who recieved a decent income. Ageha's biological mother was the same. Ageha was born right smack into the middle class, and currently, she felt rather content about that. However, none of the family could afford any extra luxury they wanted personally without saving up. Such a task wasn't too hard; mainly, all it took was their patience. None of the Fujihara were known for their patience, but it was very easy to make do with sharing whatever they had. Taking turns was something every decent person ought to have learned when they little.
Nonetheless, wholesome pleasure could be found in anything. In this peculiar case, Ageha found her delight in reading. Borrowing books was a cakewalk and she had no trouble returning the books when they were due. If she wanted to keep them more, it only took a statement to allow the librarian to understand that the book was due for a renewal.
However, it wasn't necessary that she had to take out books all of the time. That was why she precisely spent all of her free time at the school library, whether she was reading, catching up on classwork, or doing homework. Ageha seldom spent time watching TV, unless if something interesting was on, like anime. Even so, she watched TV when she was in solitude because she wasn't very eager for anyone to know about her hobbies aside from what little friends she had. What friends did she have anyway?
It's been such a long time since she's been in school so she wasn't able to make friends. The comrades from junior high and elementary school were quite frankly rather distant. Ageha, in the duration she was able to attend classes, still limited herself to small talk and no more. She wasn't able to muster up whatever incentive she needed to make friends. This year, Ageha's been sicker than ever before. Freshman year was tortorous for many of the other upperclassmen for sure, but she didn't know exactly how bad they had it since she didn't spend much time in school this year. It's been almost two full weeks since Ageha last went to school. Curse her horrible immune system! Alas, there was no point for moaning and groaning about such matters because they just were.
There also was no need to waste more time. Now, while she was thinking about the profile she would give herself, she did her homework. Science and World History were very easy subjects to her. English and Math, on the other hand, although polar opposites, were the most difficult subjects for her to handle. She had considered getting a tutor, but maybe a friend could help better since no one pays friends to help them. People repay friends with kindness. Also, if there was a friend to help out with reading comprehension or a math problem, then Ageha would be helped out more. With a level of understanding between the learner and the teacher, what is difficult to understand is clarified well.
" I really wish I had more friends. Friends seem to be lovely people, according to what I've heard about people talking about their own comrades. Unfortunately, there are some false friends who are really mean, according to what else I have overheard. Perhaps, I ought to be on a look out for friends, but I ought to try to be cautious so I don't get hurt or anything," Ageha said, thinking out loud. She blushed, thinking that what she said was rather stalkerish, but Ageha meant no harm. She simply wanted to understand friendship and other social interactions. Ageha was never very good with them, being limited to understanding close family bonds and some business relationships that involve one knowing the other client very well.
Okay, okay. That's enough deep thinking for now, Ageha. Go and take a look around you in the real world. Right now, she was guranteed to get weird stares for sure. Ageha quieted down for a couple of minutes; definitely the other people would have forgotten about what she had said by then. The librarian simply ignored, which Ageha was most glad for. If she was reprimanded out loud, it would be most embarassing.
She sighed softly and murmured to herself as she closed her textbook, finished using it to complete her homework assignment for Algebra. "I should really stop talking to myself... But how can I when the only one to talk to is myself?" With these words in a quiet as a mouse tone, no stares would be guranteed and aimed at her.

The clicking of the Library door bounced off nearby walls as a figure entered through the room. With curled fingers said figure pushed herself inside the room not caring if her presence was known. Light blue colored eyes twitched as they took in the many soft colors that the room beheld. Light illuminated the room and was soft on one's eyes. She began progressing through the Library showing no sign of emotion as she was doing so.
There wasn't a stride in her step nor a fastened pace of a walk, but a slow and sluggish pace as the small girl turned around a corner and disappearing into an aisle surrounded side by side by shelves of books all different sizes. The tip of her fingertips graced upon the many slick backs of the books her arm elevating and descending as she quickly scanned the title's or author's on said books.
For Kazue it was almost a normal day. Always being a shadow - a figure just there in the crowds without any big purpose. Rest did not come easy for her that day, and with that beginning came an early morning. What seemed like moments lasted for hours as she prepared herself that morning almost lazing about. Her emotions were swirled about when she saw so many happy individuals as the blonde took her path to school, and climbing up the same usual hill. Everything was always the same each and every day - unable to be open, forward, to speak openly about her feelings...
The list just seemed to drag on.
Soon she found herself halting in her movements almost immediately as soft whispering tickled her eardrums. Kazue seemed close to the unknown voice her mind ripping away from her own thoughts and focusing on the voice that seemed to be speaking to not a person in particular. An internal debate within herself began to occur her heart beating faster slightly in conflicting decision to whether peek at the individual that the voice belonged to or not.
After what seemed like an eternity of standing in the aisle alone she slid until she was inches away from the outside before peeking her head around, light blond locks swaying out of place as curiosity was trying to find its target. After a moment or two Kazue saw that her eyes landed on another individual - a girl that looked familiar to her. Her mouth moved as she continued whispering to herself as she seemed puzzled and troubled with herself. Her hair color was a soft teal green - a color that was soft on the eyes. Pink lips parting slightly she blinked curiously wondering why this girl was all alone by herself. Kazue was used to seeing other individuals in groups or at least with a smile on their faces, but for a prickling reason her consciousness begging her to press forward and simply float along for answers.
After a soft sigh the freshman began walking forward with not a single emotion visible on her features. "If you do not mind me... You seem troubled." she spoke taking small steps toward Ageha's table. The blonde's voice was soft and quiet due to the area being a Library, yet she spoke loud enough for the classmate before her to hear nonetheless.

The soft click click of the Library's mahogany doors opening could be heard even tables away where Ageha was. She had paid no heed to it before, but out of sheer boredom from completing her school work, she did this time. Ageha never was attentive when it came to her surroundings often at times. When she did, she noticed the soft cream coloring of the walls, clean and without stain or anything that would mar something so mundane yet easing to the eyes. The angular arch bordering the sharp, dark edges of the room was made of ebony wood, but the other colors that belonged to the white vanilla ceiling and the tan cushioned chairs tended to drown out the contrasting dark browns that could be found within the area.
Then, Ageha spotted one familiar face. The face was the color of glowing alabaster, with the features of an elegantly crafted china doll. The other student's eyes were a gorgeous light blue, in contrast to Ageha's vivid amber irises. The classmate's pale blond hair cascaded down her back in waves, parting perfectly at a widow's peak. The girl was definitely from Ageha's freshman class. Ageha pondered about who this girl was. She hadn't been in school frequently enough to know who her fellow classmen were at a moment's glance. However, she did recognize the girl's name eventually. Kazue Masumi. The name was beautiful, and soothing to the ears when said. That was what the elegant girl's name was.
Normally, Ageha hardly noticed any of her other classmates, preoccupied with the classwork she worked so hard to make up when ill. She only talked with her classmates when the teacher assigned a group project for everyone to collaborate on. Such projects were hardly ever assigned though so it was a rarity to even talk to them. Ageha did her best to remember the students' names and faces though; she could do that much, at least. When Ageha first entered Hikarizaka Private High School, she took note of who her classmates were and tried to remember who they were. Then, she decided only pay attention to them if they were interesting or unique in a way. Kazue was a very interesting classmate due to her deadpan expression, so Ageha watched her for a moment every now and then.
However, the girl had vanished from Ageha's sight long since. It was very amusing and ironic to Ageha that she could think so deeply, even if her interest lasted only for a few seconds about a classmate she rarely noticed. The classmate had disappeared behind the bookcases, probably reading some books or at the very least, skimming through some until she found one to pique her interest. Ageha sighed-perhaps, it is sometimes too easy to lose oneself in thoughts-and began to read further chapters in her math textbook to try ease her boredom. Still, her disinterest remained. A lot of time had passed when her boredom ceased. It took moments, seconds, minutes, maybe even an hour of just sitting there to relieve Ageha of the boredom that froze her. When it began to let up, her mind was left staggering.
The girl never really found out why the boredom ended. Perhaps, it resided in her brain too long and decided to terminate its sojourn, which wasn't all that short, so the proper word would be "stay" instead. Then, looking back at her books, she snapped back into business and got to doing more schoolwork. Of course, the sudden change of pace was bound to take something out of her. Ageha stifled a gasp and simply got to practicing her English. Currently, it seemed it would take a long time until her gerbil's scratchings transformed from scribbles to coherent Roman alphabet characters. Eventually, her writing did reform to look something like decent English even if it did take an occasional piece of lead snapping from the mechanical pencil every now and then. Ageha found English to be a very confusing language and quite frankly, very difficult to write. At least, caligraphy had simple strokes and hardly any curves. Cursive was the bane of her life and manuscript, without a doubt, would still take a long time to master. The grammar was baffling, and spelling was just as terrible. There were more exceptions to rules than the rules themselves! Such a concept was impossible to Ageha before she studied English; however, in America, things seemed to be very different. Enough of that though. Look over there! Masumi-chan is over there.
Ageha's attention was drawn like bees to honey when she saw her classmate again. There she was-Kazue Masumi-walking towards her table. Ageha tilted her head in confusion. What was she doing here? No, it wasn't that she minded. In fact, it was nice to have some company occasionally. Before, she had wished she had some company. And there she had it-some person to talk to. That person seemed very nice, but Ageha didn't want to attract more attention and seem like a drama queen. A bit too late for the former, though, wasn't it? At least, she could prevent herself and Masumi-chan from getting into any trouble.
Ageha blinked her eyes and arched an eyebrow as she saw the deadpan student come closer to her. She was about to ask the standard, "Hello, how may I help you?" out of courtesy, but perhaps the other student wanted to make small talk or something. The following words Ageha heard were unusual-what with the emotionless face- but she could not doubt their sincerity because Masumi seemed to be very kind. In exchange for such conern, Ageha calmly replied, her demeanor as polite as possible, "Troubled, you say? Oh, I'm sorry for giving off the wrong impression. I was merely talking to myself; my sincerest apologies if I was far too loud. Seeing that I'm fine, the question is whether you are too. Are you alright as well?"

Simply standing in her spot Kazue listened to the classmate before her. She was well aware of who this individual was - Ageha Fujihara - one of the latest additions to her class. Listening to the girl's reply Kazue could not help but cock an eyebrow at her politeness of her reply. It was something the girl wasn't expecting. The simple reply of the usual was what she was accustomed to, but with Ageha it was polite - elegance hinting in the tone of her voice. Finally after a moment the blonde reached the decision to sit in the chair across from the teal green haired individual before finding the words to reply to the girl.
Lips parting for a moment her light blue eyes showed hesitation, but a willingness to speak with the person before her. With a calm demeanor she spoke while placing her hands on top of the other as she rested them on the table. "I'm... fine. Though I will be honest - I don't see many individuals whispering to themselves unless something is bothering them." she replied not minding her usual pause in between words in the sentence. Curiosity was getting the best of her on this day, and not to mention that she would become a nervous (and awkward) wreck depending on how long this lasted.
With her awkward disposition Kazue took a moment to take in Ageha's appearance. Fragile and petite features which suited her polite behavior from what she could gather from the very short time. Ageha's teal green hair color seemed bright to the eyes but a pleasing color nonetheless given her features. Her golden brown eyes seemed to stick out from most of her features the color seeming bright that seemed to match a sort of innocence she held - possibly. The features of a delicately crafted doll was the best that Kazue could describe.
Kazue began shifting slightly unsure of how to go about this. Already she felt that she was being awkward enough just by sitting and making eye contact to the best of her ability. Like always Kazue was not used to social interaction with another individual. Straightening her back slightly the girl broke from eye contact before staring at her own hands on the table strands of hair falling slightly over her shoulder and swaying downwards. "Though it's none of my business." she added on after what seemed like a moment of an awkward silence. Her expression on her features portrayed the usual deadpan features she portrayed, but Kazue hoped that Ageha couldn't see how she was really feeling at the moment. That was the last thing the freshman wanted.
"I'm... Kazue Masumi."

Now, it's time for the newer freshman to listen. Kazue wasn't exactly her upperclassmen but still, Ageha spent less time in school than she did sick at home. Ageha found herself listening attentively to every word the blonde was saying, her voice quiet and wispy. Ageha found Kazue's voice to be very soothing, smooth and comforting like bell chimes on New Year's, except, much more fluid and connected. It was lovely to hear, but of course, Ageha was obliged to pay attention to the even lovelier thoughts underlying beneath! At first, when Ageha replied, she felt embarassed for how elaborate and long and verbose her reply was. It should be short and to the point. But enough about that, she thought. It is time to pay good attention to the fellow classwoman in front of me.
Ageha spotted a fleck, just a fleck, of a halting to Kazue's reply, but she also found a determination in those gorgeous light blue eyes of Kazue's - a determinationg to speak with Ageha. This much could move Ageha to a slight smile, which it did, but she had to keep the smile hidden since she very well knew how discourteous it was to judge. And as Ageha's eyes looked at Kazue's - not too directly for discomfort - just enough, her ears trailed after the words Kazue made, each word a delicate whisper for Ageha to cherish thoroughly, once at a time. Ageha couldn't help but warmly, not too warmly, reply this: "Ah, it's very insightful and intelligent of you to observe that. Though I will most definitely assure you, I am glad you are alright and I am glad to inform you I am just as fine." Ageha smiled gently as she spoke, warmly, yet very politely, not wanting to make anything uncomfortable for the fellow student. Curiousity had caught Ageha in his snare as well, but Ageha wasn't too uncomfortable when talking with a perfectly normal, well-intentioned fellow student who was much more refined than some of the others.
Ageha wanted to ease the awkward disposition Kazue had, and make clear she had no ill intentions, though she was pretty sure the other girl was plenty smart to know that. However, what could be bothering her? No, Kazue's appearance gave nothing away to Ageha. (It was really more how she paused in between the words of her sentences, but that was normal, not too noteworthy or bothersome.) The other girl possesed a perfectly calm, rigid, feminine figure which matched the school uniform elegantly. Her pale golden hair framed her face gently, and those azure orbs of eyes mesmerized Ageha's gaze very pleasantly. Kazue's face was a beautiful heart-shape, perfectly sculpted like a goddess, which Ageha couldn't help but notice.
Ageha noticed that Kazue was shifting a bit uncomfortably, but, she didn't dare bring that to attention since it would be something rather embarassing to talk about, no? Also, Ageha was doing the same, too. It was pretty nerve-breaking when you don't really know how to make the other feel comfortable with you, and it was fairly difficult for Ageha to be comfortable with being herself anyway. Ageha didn't dare blush or anything; behind a polite smile, she concealed all inner insecurities. When she noticed that Masumi was looking a bit down and breaking from the eye contact. Ageha didn't mind. It's difficult to keep eye contact up for her too, so she gave herself a break from it as well. And then, she listened to Masumi. "It's fine; you weren't being a nosy parker, just a good Samaritan looking out for others." Ageha, at the moment, couldn't really sense what Masumi was feeling; the student's poker face was just too good. However, if she did, she could relate. Ageha barely had any social interaction with other students. Just small talk. Maybe that's all this will amount to. If not, she may or may not have a different time. She didn't know.
"My name is Ageha Fujihara and it's nice to meet you," she politely responded with the same smile.

Shifting Masumi found herself in the same position again. That one position where fate forced her to take action once more whether the decision she chose was with or against it. It wasn't until the start of the first year was the colorless world changing into that of color. The colors began slipping into each cavern and crack that was a part of her illusionary world that held her memories, her heart, her very essence that drives her each and every day. With each waking moment the world began to grow more complex. The bright colors mixed in with the dull and confusion ensued. From the beginning to now had Kazue ignored the temptation to be more open again - to change from the fear of being hurt again while she was vulnerable. There wasn't anyone the minor trusted enough to open up to; not yet.
The fellow classmate sitting across from her pulled that conscious of hers back into reality. The way Ageha spoke in the polite manner she had was still gently soothing in. Daring to steal a glimmer of Ageha said action was committed. For the faint second of a glance could the blonde gaze upon a friendly smile despite that it was a small gesture. The acquaintance's voice stringed together well in a soft tone that would sooth the ears of those that paid enough attention to listen carefully. With each word it seemed to flow to the other; it was as if she took the time to think before speaking. A motive that belonged to the rare few she had come across in her year here so far.
The mention of a name surfaced. It was a surprising mix of syllables in the name Ageha possessed but nonetheless it was unique. Certainly a name that she hadn't heard of before in her time. It had quite a ring to it if she allowed herself to repeat said name in her head repeatedly at a certain pace.
Regaining what calm had slipped away Kazue straightened herself, rested her palms on her thighs, and with what security she stored up gazed to Ageha trying to be polite in her own strange manner. The freshman was not used to the politeness Ageha had been soothing out, but she couldn't judge. It certainly seemed to be the personality type that belonged to the classmate. Despite the sudden transfer, and appearance to Class 1-B, the blonde remembered the tiniest details aside from the fact she was in the class.
After a few moments of silence the blonde abruptly let out a sigh still keeping hold of the brick wall she prepared around herself always. "It's... nice to meet you, Fujihara." Kazue said the words slowly despite the pause in between. Regardless it was process in her point of view of the conversation. Despite how little one knew about this young woman maybe all of that would change if people started to get to know this individual better. It was a thought unrelated but it definitely seemed that Ageha had little interaction with those here. Maybe - just maybe - the young woman could change that. Without having a reason before it seemed now would be an opportune period of time to try and perhaps encourage her to become acquainted with those in the school.
Maybe even get her to join a club. Then this polite freshman wouldn't spend her life alone as harsh as the reality of it sounded. The blonde was feeling it needed to be done, and it could be for the better. One could never be too sure about the goodness of reality nor its harshness. The randomness of life itself was a mystery yet to be resolved.
"Do you... have many friends here, Ageha?"

Ageha looked at Masumi with patient eyes, watching her contemplate. With the same polite smile, Ageha didn't try to examine or read Masumi's thoughts or peer into her personal life. Merely, she just sat there and thought about how come she had (unfortunately) barely gotten to acquaint her fellow freshman. While the color analogy is beautiful and vibrant, Ageha didn't have much of an analogy for her situation throughout the everchanging world as she lived life. To Ageha, life was like a rollercoaster. It went by so quickly when you realized there would be some sort of climax. And, then, before you knew it, it was over. That was all there was to it. Masumi had a by far much more interesting view of the world, Ageha had to admit. Slowly, through her gentle gaze, she perused through the eyes known as windows to the soul and saw a lovely and delicate one that had a beautiful color analogy to describe what it meant to be a living, thriving human being. Then again, Ageha was still quite young, and she still had not figured out how the world's conditions suited her own life. And if life was formatted differently for each and every person, wasn't that worth noting? Ageha thought so. Thanks for helping me conclude with the great idea, Kazue! she thought with a gentle smile on her face.
Amber brown irises shone as flecks of the bright lighting managed to beam upon Ageha's eyes, making each color stand out. Once she managed to make small eye contact with the fellow classwoman, Ageha found that the same natural phenomenon was reflected in Kazue's beautiful azure eyes, the rainbow of the light appearing more vibrant than ever in that soft gaze. Not minding that the other classmate didn't look at her, Ageha simply smiled, glad to see someone who wasn't too outgoing. This girl was someone who minded her own space: a sight too uncommon for words. Ageha was very glad to meet Masumi, seeing that the other student offered an excellent sense of courtesy. .
The name Ageha had was obviously Fujihara Ageha (Fujihara meaning "wisteria meadow" and Ageha meaning "swallowtail butterfly"). She used modern Japanese kanji to write it on her school work, but if wanting to be especially formal, she used the traditional characters. There wasn't that many syllables, and though it was somewhat elegant, Ageha thought Masumi Kazue was fairly easier on the ears. Plus she thought the kanji for Kazue's name was much more intriguing.
Ageha was totally free to say she enjoyed the silence, as it made her calmer and at what she believed to be an appropriate pacing for a conversation. To be honest, Fujihara preferred to have plenty of time to think before she responded to others, so she could be careful to not say or do the wrong or uncomforting words or actions. She couldn't help but wonder why Masumi sighed though. "The pleasure of meeting you is mine to delight in, Kazue." Ageha quietly listened to Kazue's smooth voice before speaking. Again, as stated before, Masumi's voice was at a comforting tone remiscient of temple bells, and it flowed wondrously like a clear river. Ageha liked listening to it, and repeating the syllables in her head, enjoying the soft sound of Masumi's voice. The other student was hesitant to speak, but wasn't it a bit too nosy to ask such personal questions about the other student's behavior? Of course. But Ageha wouldn't mind if Masumi questioned her about things about that. It would be rude to refute anyone of a perfectly fine answer to a perfectly fine inquiry.
Fujihara was certain that whenever she did go to school after being sick for a little while, she saw Masumi speak to other students fine. Obviously, Kazue seemed a bit introverted, but it was alright as long as the girl took good care of herself. Being conscientous in your social life was just as productive as being meticulous in your academics. Ageha was sure Kazue did a fine job. Now Ageha had to learn social skills. And life skills too! To be honest, Ageha had no cooking or cleaning skills at all! Also, she could only stir up chitchat and answer questions the teacher had. Surely, and hopefully, the kind girl in front of Ageha had better luck and skill at those important aspects in life.
"Actually, no; so I can't really say so. If you don't mind me asking, why do you ask?" Ageha replied to Masumi with a shrug, not being too emotional about it. It would be wonderful to have more friends, but solitude never troubled her one bit. Of course, this was a lie; she complained about it previously, but her denial was because she did not wish to force Masumi to be sympathetic or a friend out of mere pity. Solitude was often tiresome and boring, but surely, Ageha could handle that.

The comment the fellow classmate gave to her was one that she herself wasn't expecting. Lifting her head up to gaze upon Fujihara the blonde didn't know what to say. Light blue irises crept away from the light that had almost brightened the color completely; hiding behind the darkness that decorated the creases of her eyes. Despite the fact that Kazue made the decision herself to attempt to talk to this individual, her nerves were eating away at her very core. She hadn't even realized that she wasn't making proper eye contact with Fujihara. Kazue knew that she would have to make eye contact with her at few points - at least she was attempting to...
What was this girl thinking now? Was Fujihara silently judging her? Perhaps have already caught on that she didn't behave normally?
Moments of silence had passed by. Kazue's emotions pulsed through her body. The silence wasn't unwelcome but it wasn't pleasant either. This was the first time the freshman even made an advancement to talk to another individual when they always spoke to her first. Not to mention that this girl was - indeed - a total stranger moments ago. Now she was a simple acquaintance with a gentle smile on her features. The way Fujihara spoke was in an elegant and innocent manner - that belonging to a lady almost.
Suddenly a thought came to mind: Ageha wasn't certainly here as often as other students. Not too long ago was she even introduced to the whole class, and it was quite the surprise to see a new addition to their already large class. The blonde had a tinge of curiosity bite at her, but the urge of a question was pushed aside. It was a bit too early to even be delving into things such as whereabouts during school. One thing was for certain at least.
Ageha was in a much better condition than Masumi herself at the moment.
An answer to her question finally surfaced, and with an internal sigh Kazue forced herself to make eye contact with Ageha. So it seems that she didn't really have that many friends after all. It was common to not have that many friends after moving to a new town such as Hikarizaka. This town didn't have very many people living here to begin with; a small town. Without a moment of thought Kazue hugged her legs close to her chest and hid her face behind her knees; a fortress to hide her form.
"I... was just wondering. You don't talk... to others much. N-Not to... to mention that you don't seem to be here as often as the others. I-I was... just..."
Tightening the group around herself, stabling herself, and curling herself into a ball almost in the small chair, Kazue trailed off in her sentence ignoring the occasional stutter and illicit pauses. It was difficult to even form the words out of her own mouth. Something about this was sending her off the edge, and into a whole other world. Something was biting at her - eating away at her - and Kazue just didn't want to show her face without breaking the emotionless expression the young woman carried around for so long.

Fujihara allowed some time for Masumi to silently register the comment. Kazue's theory of description for typical human life was not voiced outwardly, but rather it was something that two people could share by simply basking in each other's presence. it required no special powers or anything; it seemed to be a regular emotional connection; for example, one could yawn, and in return their friend would yawn too because of their very close connection. The two right now were mere acquaintances but the two were different yet similar enough to understand one another to specific extents. However, right now, only simple concepts could be grasped by body language. It was subtle and required no skill to understand such, as all human beings understood one another due to sharing experiences humans would experience. Perhaps, animals too would be able to do such a thing.
Ageha possessed no cognitive empathy; she could not discern specific thoughts that Masumi had just be gazing at those azure eyes. She could only sense the emotions that the young blonde's pale smooth face failed to hide through those eyes: those eyes whose piercing gaze channeled a melody of philosophy, emotion, and soul.
Fujihara failed to pass judgment upon the girl before her. Her amber brown eyes looked all over Masumi and found nothing out of the ordinary mainly since she possessed no perception of what normal was. What was normal? What constituted something as being normal? Did normal exist? If so, did Ageha share in that view? No. She was far too infrequent in her visits to this school due to illness. She did not learn the social skills which helped others developed a strong bond with other students or detached her from a world of people who served no purpose to her. Right now, all Ageha focused on was her academic success. A chance to make friends all the while was worthwhile.
The light flowing strands of hair framed Ageha's classmate's face, revealing a skin shade of roses and cream. The eyes were liquid cyan and a thin line made up the girl's mouth. Masumi Kazue. That was her name, and even though so little was spoken by this girl, so much could be learned from her. This deeply intrigued Ageha. Instinctively, she sought to learn more from Masumi. But how could she learn more from her? Her school time was infrequent due to an unhealthy body. She was not new, but she seldom appeared: a mere shadow behind the brilliance of the other students. That was all Ageha was, and she never minded. She kept to herself, studied as hard as she could and passed the tests and quizzes she missed. Fujihara completed any due work and did her best to be a diligent student.
She may have been in a better state, but her lack of insight to the situation was atrocious.
She was all too happy to respond to Kazue's eye contact, her eyes like molten butterscotch. Ageha attempted to be pleasant enough so it would be easier on Masumi, but such didn't seem to work. Her smile faded into a calm, neutral expression as she looked over the other girl would concern. Ageha's gaze did not falter as she allowed Kazue to retreat back into her shell. The soft voice that trembled only served to make Fujihara sure that Kazue was not very comfortable with the situation.
"I don't; that's true. I'm not around as much because I'm usually out sick, unfortunately. That's why we just got acquainted. And... Masumi, are you alright?"
Ageha sat up and spoke with a calm, clear voice, firm and audible. Her concerned gaze made an attempt to captivate the other classmate. Most of the time, she was soft spoken, but when she was not sure if a classmate was well or not, it was a sworn duty of a good citizen to care for another. Why did Masumi find it hard to speak? Ageha wondered. It was time to find out. Kazue, hopefully, we'll find out you're fine.
Any Japanese respectful young lady would be soft spoken, yes, but they would be well-spoken too; they would be able to voice whatever troubles they had, at least in the privacy the two had at the moment. While Ageha made it a priority to be calm and quiet and graceful about her inquiry, she needed to make sure Masumi was alright.
"Do you have something you want to say, Masumi? If so, why do you have such trouble saying it? There's nothing to be worried about here. I can keep a secret should you have one, and I won't cause you any harm; I swear on my honor."

At Fujihara's question of concern her whole world came to a halt. It was as if sound had gone mute for eternity, and by willpower she met the worried gaze of the classmate before her. Eyes of untold stories met another, locks of hair smoothed out of place, and the heart beat's per minute seemed to patter by at such an uncomfortable rate. Fujihara's locks of cyan hair framed her face in a delicate manner as she could be seen bending slightly over the edge of the table. The motions this girl made clearly matched her concern for Masumi, but one question remained in the blonde's mind. It reoccurred over and over like a broken record; it was almost too difficult for the girl to believe.
Why? Why is she so concerned for a stranger - a nobody - like me? She doesn't even need to bother with my behavior, yet...
What was she thinking now? Ageha Fujihara seemed kind enough to be concerned for her well-being in return for earlier. Yes, she had let an emotion slip through. Kazue had gotten herself into a situation she couldn't get herself out of. It was a strange emotion that was piling up inside of the small girl. Ageha didn't seem like another bully - not even close to that level. Behind Kazue's eyes was a story of pain, a story that she'd rather not share. The monochrome world that was paused in it's time inside the freshman's mind seemed to play again in a quick flash.
Those amber brown eyes before her could be felt observing her. It was becoming worrisome now if Masumi was even acting sane. Even if Fujihara wasn't in class a lot, she seemed so intrigued on her. It was still strange to Kazue. She was just a girl who was never meant to have any friends, happiness, or even the slightest bit of attention. However, here this girl was talking to this nobody...
Stay calm, Kazue...
With a heaved breath through her nose, and a stern goal for motivation, the girl returned to a more relaxed composition. Smoothly, legs slid down and shoes graced the carpet ground, and hands brushed along the hem of her skirt, resting there, and body language remained firm. The deadpan feature that Kazue adopted returned in an instant, and her eyes did not bare the slightest of emotion. The act itself was almost as smooth as silk, and it was fluid. The change in posture and behavior might have been obvious in Ageha's perspective, but Kazue wasn't going to let her wall crumble so easily under such simple pressure.
With internal respect deep in her heart, Masumi nodded her head as her locks swayed with each motion that was achieved. "I apologize to hear that, Fujihara. That pretty much explains it all it seems..." Deep in her heart, there was concern for Fujihara's well-being, but Kazue wasn't ready to even let the slightest of emotion slip through. This freshman was still afraid of events that happened in the past happening again now. It was all a precaution - a fear - of keeping at bay the pain of years past. With a soft spoken tone, Kazue continued resting her hands on the table once more.
"I thought I had something to say before, Fujihara, but it seems I've lost my train of thought. I just have... trouble speaking to others due to... problems in the past."

Kaori pushed open the library doors gently and headed inside. She had decided to get her homework done and dusted so that she that could do other things when she got home. She headed to a empty study table and place her bag down next to it. As she sat down, she suddenly noticed two freshmen at a table nearby. Not recognising either of them and too shy to say hello to them, she simply gave a smile and nodded at them, before pulling her homework out of her bag.
Kaori's best subjects were biology, PE and History. Kaori completed her history homework with ease. Then she turned to her Physics homework which was not one of her strong points and had a go at it. After struggling for a while, she gave up and stuffed it back in her bag and retrieved a sports manga to read instead.
"Curse physics, I don't see why we have to learn it" Kaori muttered quietly

The answer to Masumi's question was simple but the underlying reasons beneath it were complex yet clear. Masumi Kazue was no nobody, if Fujihara Ageha had to say anything about it. The two lived in a small but lonely world, isolated from others, either self-inflicted or inflicted by the cruel mistress, Fate. But they were not nobodies. In Hikarizaka, no one really knew who they were, and Ageha didn't expect them to know her well but Masumi? She was so nice at a first glance. It was hard to expect that she wouldn't have any friends, and if she did, that would have to be remedied, eventually. It was imperative Fujihara needed to still extend a hand in solidarity and allow Masumi to feel free to be who she was. No one else shouldn't be limited from being who they were or being someone different. They all led different lives but it was destiny that brought them together. Fate was not so cruel after all.
Alright, take it slow, Fujihara. You don't want to startle the poor dear.
Kazue was a lovely visage, beautiful yet seeming damaged. Even if the sentiments behind delicate facial features changed like the seasons, she had eyes, eyes with a depth that stayed the same even when the clock was ticking, even as life went on, even if the world they were in were different now. Further eye contact mesmerized Ageha, too entranced to find any discomfort that she found in talking to other, bolder students. She really couldn't focus on anything else at the moment and couldn't mind in the least. But it did not freeze the freshwoman perfectly; emotions at their most fluid heights, an unusual but not unwelcome sensation running its course throughout her veins.
In a gaze gentle and serene, amber brown eyes warmly sought out unflinching teal ones. Kazue's irises were devoid of emotion, but certainly they were not devoid of character. It did not reveal much but that something, something was boiling down beneath the surface. Or that could just be Ageha, having seen her own reflection on those very eyes, eyes of an acquaintance she disagreed with regarding their self-confidences but yet felt the same in so many other things.
Quietly, Ageha let the sound of a heaved breath caress against her ears, composing herself alongside the other girl, in a calm sort of peace. Nothing but the fluttering of pages could heard. While her concern still remained evident, Ageha's disposition maintained an insouciant beckoning to the other girl, hoping to slowly sooth and lull the both of them into unease where they could be respectful yet free to discuss whatever they would like to until it was time to go. When it was, then she hoped they could see each other again. This moment they were in was so fulfilling, so interesting and engaging and earnest that there was no way Fujihara could forget it and leave it behind. It was unlike anything she felt before.
"There's no need to apologize. It's not too bad, not as horrible as other cases I've seen," she said with not too much detail, wanting to go into much detail. The condition that she had was kind of episodic and it didn't affect her enough to prevent her from improving. The only problem was that it got a bit messy. Describing it made her only shudder so Ageha was careful to keep it out of mind and out of sight. Enough of such a distasteful subject, however, when there obviously was something strongly distressful that made Masumi uncomfortable. It was not physical and that was what made Ageha slightly afraid for the other girl.
But she was stronger than anyone knew, more than what Ageha knew. Her display of willpower impressed the green-haired girl out of her socks, even if Ageha thought she didn't deserve to have to keep up such a front. But she couldn't just tear it down. She had to be patient and wait and be ready to help, not that it wasn't odd of her to feel so compelled to throw herself in the motion of things. Even with her bouts of inactivity, Fujihara eyed something about Masumi that made her think that they would all still be there. They would be tethered to something that would hold them strong and move them forward in this game of life.
"If you think the thought has come back to you again, please feel free to say it. I'm sorry that problems like that have made it difficult for you to speak to others. There are many things in the past that people can't help. Regardless, you can tell me anything you want to say and I'll do my best to make sure you won't have to worry about those issues coming up again here."
