::Kazuki Miyahira::
Type: Original
Age: 17
Year and Class: 3-C
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Crushes: None yet
Face Claim: Kida Masaomi of Durarara!
Description:
At five feet and seven inches, Kazuki is neither extremely tall nor notably short. He has a slim build, but maintains a decent amount of muscle so as not to appear stick-like. His dirty blonde hair is cut short, ending at the nape of his neck, while his long bangs fall into his golden brown eyes.
Though Kazuki prefers a casual style of dress, usually favoring a simple hoodie and jeans combo, he does have an awareness of trends, and puts some effort into personal style, usually shown through his use of accessories such as wristbands or rings. His ear piercings have gotten him into trouble with the school before, and he has resigned to wear them only on the weekend.
He likes comfort when wearing his school uniform, and will often leave at least the first button of his jacket undone and never tucks in his shirt, unless nagged about it. Once school ends, he's likely to unbutton his jacket completely, or simply take it off and loosen his tie.
Personality:
Kazuki is the guy you go to when you’re bored out of your mind. He’s rather impulsive, but his fun-loving, carefree attitude means he’s usually up for anything. A generally good guy, he’d never truly want to hurt anyone, but he doesn’t mind bending a few rules in the name of fun, and he does have a mischievous side. He enjoys teasing the people he likes, and can be a total goofball.
A deficiency of common sense seems to be his biggest problem, and his loud, outgoing personality only makes it more obvious when he says or does something completely and utterly dense. The poor boy is definitely lacking in the intelligence department, and his borderline grades are a recurring joke among his classmates. However, he does manage to get by, though barely.
Academics is clearly not Kazuki’s strong point, but he doesn’t mind… It’s singing that he enjoys. He doesn’t usually broadcast the talent, but when opportunities arise, he’ll gladly take them and sing his heart out (Especially if he thinks it’ll impress any girls). It’s also not uncommon for him to be humming or singing a favorite tune as he goes about his day. Music is a daily part of his life.
As an older brother, Kazuki is rather protective of his younger sister, Suzume. Though he’s typically a lighthearted guy, he has a frightening temper when angered, and he’ll gladly take down anyone who harms her, or at least go down trying. Though he’s never been the most responsible person, he works hard for her, and hates looking like an idiot in front of her, as often tends to happen.
History:
From the moment he could crawl, Kazuki was an adventurous and independent child, frequently wandering off on his own and nearly giving his parents a heart attack. He was his sister Suzume’s polar opposite, and as such, he paid little mind to her growing up, running off to play with his own friends and getting into mischief while she seemed content with her own quiet company. The siblings remained distant for most of their early years, living in the same household, yet never truly knowing one another.
Exactly when Kazuki picked up his love for singing is unclear. He had always been interested in music to some extent, keeping up with popular singers and bands and singing along to their songs. The hobby started early, but he never fully realized it was a hobby until he had reached middle school. Singing simply came naturally to him, and it was a surprise when a friend praised his voice one day as he sang along to the radio. It had never occurred to him until that moment that singing could be his talent.
When Suzume joined him in middle school, he continued to pay little attention to her, immersing himself in his own friends and activities. They almost never saw each other in school, and when they did, rarely ever exchanged a word. It was during his third year of middle school, Suzume’s first year, that Kazuki received a wake up call. He returned home after a typical school day to find a horrifying sight-- his sister sprawled across the floor, having attempted suicide by overdose. Constant bullying at school had made her life unbearable, and he hadn’t been aware of any of it.
It was only after this incident that Kazuki truly made the attempt to know who his sister was. He remained by her side at the hospital, and even after she was released, it took several weeks for him to become comfortable letting her out of his sight. Overnight, he had transformed from a distant brother to an overprotective one, and the difference became obvious as soon as Suzume returned to school. Anyone who dared to wrong the girl met his wrath, and he got into fights often during that sensitive period. Eventually, he calmed down, but remained ever watchful.
The siblings’ relationship grew exponentially over the following months. Their conversation was awkward at first, and it was difficult to make up for nearly thirteen years of wasted time, but Suzume soon came to be Kazuki’s confidante. He spoke to her of his dreams and fears, asked her for advice with girls, and talked about things he dared not bring up with his friends for fear of embarrassment. They got into fights at times, as all siblings do, but he was always quick to forgive her, and gave her more slack than anyone else.
Had Suzume not expressed a specific desire to attend Hikarizaka Private High School, Kazuki would likely have attended any other school his struggling grades would allow him into. However, his wish to protect his sister when she moved up to high school drove the boy to study as he never had before, and he managed to get in by the skin of his teeth.
Now that Suzume has joined him as a first year, he makes it a point to check up on her frequently, and has become extremely wary of her newfound interest in the opposite sex… Though this is, perhaps, a bit hypocritical, as the boy has never kept his own search for a girlfriend a secret. He’s gone on a couple dates, but has yet to have a serious relationship.

Eating out was only fun if you could cause a scene. With Shay, however, that was not likely to happen. Dustin shuffled along the cobblestone street, trailing a few feet behind the well-dressed woman in her white blazer and tinted sunglasses. His own clothes were grubby and tattered by comparison-- but that was to be expected after rotating the same five T-shirts for a year.
A year… Had it really been that long?
Dustin paused for a moment to consider this, staring blankly at his feet as he counted back the days, weeks, and seasons he’d spent in the island town. Yes, exactly one year, right down to the day. It hadn’t seemed like very long at all. All this time, had Lala really…
“What are you doing, Dustin?”
The young man’s head snapped up at the sound of Shay’s voice, pushing all other thoughts aside. Without responding, he resumed his pace, this time walking past his sister to take the lead. He’d almost thought about her again. It was getting harder to avoid lately with Shay around to remind him. Would she ever give up and leave?
“You’ve been here since spring,” Dustin stated blandly, his irritation absent from his tone. “Shouldn’t you go back to your husband?” He spoke without looking at her, quickening his pace in order to stay ahead. A few seconds of silence followed before a response came. “We’ve spoken on the phone,” Shay replied, her voice cool. “And I‘ve written a bit. He’s been sending money.”
Another, much longer pause followed this statement, broken only when the woman chose to change the subject. “We need to buy you new clothes.” Dustin was forced to halt as Shay grabbed him by the arm and turned him around, surveying his clothing with a wrinkled nose. “I don’t know why I didn’t think of it before. We’ll stop by a store after lunch.”
