Mayumi's appearance is average, not too outstanding and neither could she be classified as horrendous. Her chestnut brown hair reaches all the way to her waist, with a wild curly strand sticking out on the right side of her head. Often, she could be spotted with her hair down, with a hair band to prevent the hair from running wild.
With a height of 5'1", she is often mistaken as a child. The brunette's petite figure is often a trait that she detested. As much as she would hate to admit it, her figure does come in handy occasionally. A lower price for train tickets, it has helped greatly to save a little more of her daily allowance. However, finding clothes of a perfect fit for her was a difficult, straining task that often drove her crazy.
A pair of bright hazel eyes would always be staring back at you whenever you look at them. In school, she would wear her school uniform according to what was required as she can't stand being messy. Whenever she's not in her uniform, she could be seen in casual wear, ranging from gym clothes to a plain shirt paired with track pants. What does she wear when she's out shopping? That would have to depend on her mood of the day.
Personality:

She has a great affinity for sweets, constantly craving for more. The root of this behavior leads back to her parents’ bad habit of always giving her sweets. They would give her some sort of treat whenever she’d be lonely, when she’d be upset over something, when she's nervous – whatever it was, they would give her a treat rather than deal with it.
Mayumi tries to keep things peaceful in her environment and prefers to avoid confrontation. Whenever she was faced with a confrontation or entrapped in an argument, the first thought that came to her mind was to find a way to squeeze out of it. She has no intentions to make an enemy out of anyone and neither does she want to scream or acts like a hooligan.
She has a sunny personality and is ditzy and absent-minded at times. Being bad with words, she could often say the wrong things or send the wrong message to the other party. However hard she tries to correct her speech, it just turns from bad to worse and gives up explaining herself gradually.
"If a person is worth to be your friend, they would be and they would understand what you're trying to tell them, with or without words."
That quote is something she have strongly believed in and used it to cheer herself up whenever someone misunderstood her intentions. She could be quite insensitive to what's going on around her and lands herself into trouble. Despite that, the moment she felt that something is really wrong with the situation, she would find out more and understand it. Well, unless if it's a heated argument, she'd disappear within seconds.
History:
Little Mayumi was born and raised in an ordinary and normal home. Her father was the bread winner of the family, diligently working and selfless; her mother was a trophy wife, beautifully dressed and scripted. A simple and boring yet an enjoyable life.[/size]
However, nothing lasts forever. The perfect parents in Mayumi soon dissolved into nothingness. She wasn't sure when it started, but her parents started finding faults with one another. Slowly and gradually, the tiny and seemly harmless disagreements soon grew and sprouted into fierce, heated arguments.
It became a chore to stay at home. She understood fully that her parents doted on her, despite the fact that they hated each other. She was the apple of their eyes and they cherished her as though she was the most beautiful jewel they have ever encountered. But that was the main point why it has hurt her so much whenever she witnessed their arguments.
When young Mayumi turned eight, all she could remember was her parents getting into horrible fights, often ending with her father storming out of the room and her mother knelt in one corner, sobbing silently. How did things became like this? A fairytale with a beautiful happy ever after ending? Not in reality. The horrible fights between her parents have led her to a fear of being involved in a dispute and will often try any means to avoid one. Soon, her parents got divorced and the court has gotten the child custody. Within weeks after it happened, they packed their bags and moved to a small town nearby.
Although it takes a couple of hours to reach their new home, her father will often make frequent visits to meet her and bring her out for walks or a trip to the theme park. Nonetheless, she was unable to retain the sadness in her from sprouting. Whenever she was feeling low, she would always munch on some candies, cupcakes, chocolates -- anything sweet.
Life was hard at first but as time flies, she has managed to get used to life without her father. It was saddening to know that she was not allowed to live with her father but she was glad to know that her parents were no longer at loggerheads. Occasionally, they would meet up for a cup of tea and have little chats about their own individual life. Pleased to know that both of them were able to communicate like normal friends often brought a smile to her face. Rather than having both of them living under one roof with non-stop arguments, it is better for them to live apart and remain on good terms. Who knows, one day they might decide to get together again!
With that hope tingling on her heart, she looked forward to everyday with a smile and forward to a future that she wished would happen.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing! Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig!
A plastic alarm clock screamed it's life away as the clock strike seven. Moments later, a small hand stretched out and slammed the clock hard against the table top. After ensuring that the clock has been assassinated, she dart her hand back into her blanket and tried to sleep for another minute.
In less than a minute of silence, her outraged mother stormed into her room, slamming the door wide open and parted her curtains. Bright sunshine shone through the glass window and right onto her bed. Her mother walked up to the bed in a jiffy and pulled the blanket off Mayumi, only to found herself challenged into a fierce competition of tug-o-war.
Annoyed, she decided to use her triumph card. “Let’s see… I’ve baked a lovely ginger cake as a mini dessert for breakfast. Since you are not willing to wake up, I might as well give them to our lovely neighbor as a greeting!”
Within seconds, Mayumi opened her eyes and sat upright on her bed. Stretching her body to ease her stiff muscles, she walked up to her cupboard and pulled out her uniform and headed to the toilet for a quick wash-up.
With a smirk appearing across her mother’s face, she closed the door before leaving the room. “See you later, Mayumi. Better get down the moment you got dressed or else something disastrous might happen to your beloved cake!”
A soft sigh escaped Mayumi’s lips. She had stayed up all night looking through her new textbooks to have a grasp on what she will be learning in her new school. Shaking her head in disbelief, she made a mental note to herself not to push herself past her limits in the future.
After a quick look in her mirror to make sure she looked presentable, she grabbed her bag and headed down to the kitchen. Where’s the lovely ginger cake her mother was speaking about earlier on? There was nothing on the table except for a couple of toast and a cup of milk.
“Hon, finish up your breakfast quickly and leave for school. You wouldn’t want to be late on your first day, right?”
She sat down and munched on her toast, her hazel eyes darting around, trying to see where her mother had placed her cake. The brunette gulped down her milk and asked hesitantly, “Mom, where’s the… Cake?” A dreaded thought flashed through her mind. Maybe her mother lied to her to make her wake up! There might be no cake from the beginning!
“Sorry hon, there’s no cake,” her mother replied. Devastated, Mayumi took her bag and headed towards the door. It was depressing to know that there was no cake from the start and worse of all, she was having a horrible headache from the lack of sleep.
“Mayumi? Are you leaving already? Wait up!”
Her mother ran after her hastily and grabbed her hand. “Hon, there was no cake for breakfast as it’s not healthy to consume too much sugar in the morning but I did bake a small ginger cake for you to bring to school!” Mayumi’s eyes brightened and she broke into a wide smile. She took the lunchbox from her mother’s hand and gave her a tight hug. “Love you, mom. Thank you! Today is such a delightful day!” Her mother returned her hug and pushed her away. “Yes, yes. I love you too. However, if you really don’t start heading towards school right now, you’d be late!”
Laughing, she waved her mother goodbye and left for school, with a wide board grin painted on her face.
