May 18th, 2003. Alone.. it wasn't exactly a feeling she'd never had before, well -- it wasn't a feeling at all. Loneliness, that would be a better explanation. There was times where she'd been alone and wasn't lonesome, a time where she knew she had others out there waiting for her again, to brighten her day and make her smile.. for her to brighten their days, and make them smile as well. People to care about, to be cared for by. To love and be loved, hold and to be held, but not anymore. No, she was just sitting here alone near the edge of a small Lake in mid-day, where others may be wandering about the town in their daily lives she'd chosen to allow time to stop for her, if even for just one day. She'd been here for hours already and no one really seemed to have taken notice. But who would, exactly? What was she expecting to occur? They wouldn't come for her, they didn't care...
"That's selfish, stop it."
She hated being like this. There wasn't anything in the world she actually felt hatred for, but this.. it was worse then being sick, it was like the inside of her heart was dying and she couldn't do a thing to stop it. She almost wanted someone to blame, someone to yell to, someone to finally let everything out toward. It wasn't so easy trying to see the happier side of everything; she persevered and struggled onward through the tough times, and it still had gotten her absolutely nowhere. It was just.. discouraging. She had no hope left to continue her dream of reviving the drama club. The Festival had passed days before, and all of her time spent had simply been waiting for someone to take notice while she did all she could on her own. But no one ever did, no one even bothered to glance her way for a moment of interest.
She still had friends, though, right? It wasn't the end of the World, the people who'd helped her along the way wouldn't just forget about her... Would they? Well, what sort of situation was she in now to begin believing in her old friends coming back for no good reason even after they'd already graduated? Her heart skipped a beat before beginning to swell with pain and aching at the thought, she'd missed so much school again already. Knowing her luck, it'd happen again, and she'd be stuck in school for another year, all alone.. Maybe she should give up, go crawl away into some deep desolate hole, curl up, and.. die. She was so very tired of being left alone chasing her silly dreams.
Silly.. once they were true, bright, thriving dreams she saw begin to flourish before her very eyes, and the next moment they were just bittersweet memories she defined as silly. Her heart shattered into fractions of pieces so small she wasn't sure if she could define it in words; was there anything more far-gone then oblivion? At first she ran away, at the end of the school day she just ran, home. The overwhelming emotions that battered and bruised her very soul, letting all the hope and ambition gush out of her heart from the deep wounds they'd left behind. She couldn't even cry, or scream, not even a whimper. She just felt dead. She'd been depressed before, over whatever might have ailed her in the past, but this was crippling. People weren't supposed to feel this way, people were suppose to get through school, get careers, then have some mid-life crisis when they're older and able to cope.
Yet here she was suffering, just as painfully as could be. A small sigh slowly surpassed her lips, her hands reaching down to gently grip upon her knees and tug them upward toward her chest, her chin resting comfortably atop the crevice between. Her eyes peered outward into the shimmering crystalline horizon reflected on the water's surface, sunlight dancing over the small prisms and shimmering brief flashes of color here and there as ripples coursed through the lake from the gentle breeze. To anyone else, it was another beautiful afternoon to enjoy outside with family or friends, participating in some sort of fun activity. Though even with the sun high above, this was one her darkest days by far. The sight of the trees swaying blissfully in the wind, the leaves that occasionally fluttered outward to be whisked away through the air, the smell of sweet spring air that use to bring a rush of joy and calm to her heart, now did little more then serve as a grim reminder of how pointless her beliefs could be.
Nagisa allowed herself to gradually tip backwards, until she finally came to rest upon her back over the crisp green grass, arms spread partially beside her in a lazy fashion as her gaze settled upward on the monolith of blue and white known as The Sky, painted with fluffy white clouds that spread a bit of shadow rather slowly across different parts of the earth. She tilted her head a little to look at a smaller, more frail looking cloud rather distant from the others. Floating on its own almost aimlessly through the wide open sky. She wondered if clouds ever tried to accomplish hopeless tasks on their own, and if they ended up having to face grave disappointment after all the effort they put into trying to make things work out for everyone. She doubted it highly, but it was still an interesting thought.
Her eyes finally drifted shut once more, lids sliding downward and darkening her vision as the temptation of slumber called to her. Its voice so soft and inviting, and she was anything but hesitant to accept its welcome. Nestled comfortably in a lounging position upon the ground, she allowed the dim world of sleep to envelope her, and send her drifting off toward hopefully much more blissful dreams then those she'd had to let go of in recent time. Amidst the other people wandering about their lives with happiness or purpose, she remained as an unknown outsider to the common-natured sense of invigoration, and only continued to try pushing herself onward through this miserable fit of heart-break and harsh realizations. She murmured something softly, just before her mind was claimed.
"..Anpan.."

Life was good. Life was...good? That phrase seemed unusually optimistic - especially for him. He had become used to living a meaningless existence...yet something had changed to make it slightly less boring. Less...pointless. It was a Saturday. He often slept in until noon or later...yet here he was, awake and active shortly before lunch, heading off towards the marketplace to meet up with his...friend. He wasn't used to the word in conjunction with himself, and had to roll it around in his mind to ensure it was an accurate description. That was what the two of them were right? Friends? Save for Sunohara, who completely defied the traditional sense of the word, he only had acquaintances he spoke to every so often. Friends spent more time together then that though, sometimes even outside of school...which is what he was doing now. So it fit then. And yet...it still felt so alien to him. Why was that?
Meandering down the street with his puzzling, albeit pointless, string of thought, he noticed a familiar figure in the distance up ahead. The figure was unrecognizable from his current distance from her, so he walked towards her, diverging off the street and nearing the lake shore, all focus on his previous destination lost. He approached her at an angle behind her, making no effort to conceal his footsteps attempting to see more so he could remember, his memory itching t-
It was her. A hodgepodge of emotions and memories not entirely his own shot through him. The girl at the foot of the hill. The girl who had been forced to repeat a year. The girl who had no more friends to share her lunch time with. The girl who had had the simple dream of wanting to start up the drama club again...
A pang of guilt and pity shot through him as he recognized her dejected form, her fallen composure, and her dismal expression. It almost looked as if she was going to cry...why hadn't he offered to help her? Why hadn't he offered to do more for her? He knew the answer immediately...but he didn't want to admit it to himself. He didn't want to admit that he had been too weak to offer his services. Had been feeling particularly selfish and meaningless to believe she needed his help, or would even benefit from it. He couldn't help but regret his words that day when he simply thought 'If I tell her that I'll help her, I'm sure I'll regret it. I would ask myself, "Why did I agree to do such a troublesome thing?" Besides, it's only been a little while since we first met. Why would I need to go that far for her?' He had rationalized it away because it seemed too troublesome...he remembered the events as if they had happened yesterday.
"Would you like to try joining the drama club? It would be fun."
"Sorry...I decline."
"I see..."
"Well, that's the spirit. That's how you should invite people."
"I was able to say it because it was you..."
"But even I was a stranger until last week, wasn't I?"
"That's true, but...you were the one who encouraged me."
"That was nothing special. Don't make such a big deal out of it."
"Do your best. I know you can do it."
"Okay..."
He had shot her down. He had felt bad at the time, but the guilt only seemed to intensify as he saw her sitting there. Alone. And then he heard her words. No louder then a whisper, she uttered the same words he had heard once long before, when they had first exchanged words with each other at the foot of that long, long hill. Without thinking he suddenly blurted out
"Y-yo!"
Raising a hand with a slightly forced smile. It was an awkward greeting, made only more so by his pathetic attempt to smile, but he didn't know her too well, and at a time like this, he really had no right to intrude on her privacy. Still...
"Long time no see."
If I make her do her best alone, there might be someone else who'll give her a hand. He had been an idiot. And a coward. He wouldn't make the same mistake again.

Even the dream wasn't so pleasant. The one world in which she thought she could be safe and happy, and even then she wasn't given a break. Was this punishment? Had she somehow wronged the entire world just by trying to follow her dreams like people advised her? Maybe she was just one of those people who were destined for nothing but hardship and disappointment, someone had to be there to be brought so far down so others in the world could rise up and be happy, didn't they? But.. she didn't wish for this, she just wished to be plain old nobody again as opposed to the girl whom everyone just laughed at and avoided, who was left all alone because her misguided and silly little dreams made her look like an idiot in front of everyone.
In her dream she was standing alone in the midst of darkness, with a single spotlight shining upon her from above. Laughter, all she heard was their laughter.. even though she couldn't see them she knew they were mocking her, pointing at her, gossiping and spreading more jokes and lies. The light use to be so vibrant and beautiful, it used to spread across even the deepest reaches of her mind. But now.. not it was quivering, clinging to what little bit of hope she still had left, just as lonely and empty as she was. Slowly but surely the light flickered and faded away as she was dragged out of her solemn state of slumber by a voice.
Had it called to her? She blinked a little wearily as consciousness washed over her, lifting an arm to rub tiredly at her eyes while she remain laying upon the grass. She wasn't exactly too upset that the bittersweet dream had been interrupted. She tilted her head to search for the source of what had woken for, but quickly sat up as the voice spoke again in memorandum of just how long it'd been since the two had met. She recognized it, its familiar and almost stern tone, laced with bits of high spirited mischief and confidence, but lacking in any real emotion placed behind it other than the usual vibe he gave.
"Okazaki.."
She wasn't quite sure just how to feel about seeing the other boy again. She hadn't felt mad at him, or dissapointed at all; how could she ever have expected him to be a part of something he held no interest in from the very beginning? If the original group couldn't keep things running properly what chance did she possibly have to do it alone? She never bothered to think of such things for fear of it only bringing her down, but once she hit rock bottom there was really nothing more that could sink her heart any further. Still she wasn't one to burden others with the pain of her heart. A small smile found its way upon her face, by closer and careful inspection anyone could see the broken and sad excuse for a genuine sign of happiness plastered on her features. The last thing she'd expected to have to do today was face him in such a pathetic state. She wondered if he was here to laugh at her as well like she'd imagined everyone else doing almost the entire weak.
"Y-yes, it.. It's been a while~ How are your studies?"

"Studies? I wouldn't know."
Had she forgotten he was a delinquent who never bothered with studies? Or was it simply small talk? Except...she didn't know him. Nor he did he know her. He had never given her the chance. Not really. All he knew was that she was a girl who wanted to reform the drama club...all by herself. The president of the yet-to-be-formed drama club...broken. There was no other word to properly describe her. She put up a valiant front, but simply from the point he approached her to now...it was all too obvious. When last he left her she had still had hope. Still had a determination that, in hindsight, he had likely, albeit unintentionally, awoken. What if he had chosen the logical path and determined to help her? Would they have managed to pull it off together? Would she have achieved her dream? Unfortunately, such questions were beyond him, but it was impossible for him not to regret his actions. He was simply a useless delinquent but...right from the start she had a purpose he sorely lacked. If it was her, he was confident she could have achieved her goal. And yet...because she had been all alone...she had crumbled underneath the weight of solitude. Even he had at least one person to suffer through school with...but who did she have?
"Hey...you want to get a bite to eat? My treat."
He verbalized the question just as he had thought it, glancing to the side and scratching his cheek, a contemplative yet casual expression gazing off into the distance, attempting to avoid any awkward eye contact that may occur at the initiation of such a random question. That's where his destination had been in the first place - lunch, there was no reason it had to be limited to simply him and his companion. She certainly wouldn't mind. Besides...it would help get rid of the feeling that he was going on a...date. Granted, his companion would likely eliminate such notions of one from the start...however...even the mere possibility left him uncomfortable. The very thought of it was simply...too strange. Three people would solve that problem.
Though he offered many such a superficial explanation to satisfy his whims, he knew deep down he wasn't qualified to help her in her current state. He was too much of a downer. Too dry and sarcastic to be of any real hope. He could inspire her once more, possibly even help her rise up to attempt to achieve her dream once more...but not like this. For now...he would start small. Friends first. Then the rest. [/blockquote]

A smile threatened to show, a light tug at the corners of her lips at first, before it blossomed fully into an expression of life being brought back into her once sunken heart. Something so simple, something so plain and generic, yet it felt like it was all she needed to get going again. She wasn't asking for the world, not popularity or fame, but just.. someone else, to say hello every once in a while, someone to talk to and share the days with. She didn't blame him for before, how could she? But, a failed idea wasn't really the complete end of the world, just a bump in the road to pass over. They hadn't gotten much of a chance to figure out each other's lives, to really connect or find common ground, but maybe... just maybe, things could be different this time around? She found strength in her hands once more, she pushed them against the ground and stood herself up carefully, giving a little twirl to face him as she dusted herself off. Certainly it was still painful to not have things succeed as she hoped, but through failure came the knowledge of where one could succeed in the future~
"I'd-.. I'd like that, I've been out here for so long I forgot to notice how hungry I was."
She admitted with a sheepish little laugh, a tinge of red finding its way across her cheeks while she gazed upon him. The boy she'd met on the hill, a complete stranger to her life and yet he'd return once again to lend a helping hand. She didn't know if it was from a sense of guilt, or pity, or fate working in mysterious ways, but she felt happy once more. She inhaled and thought about all the bad parts.. all the worry and fear, the disappointment, the shame, the anger, and exhaled it outward. She'd accepted what she'd failed to do, but she could no longer allow it to hold her down and stop her from moving on in her life. Slowly she stepped forward with hands clasped timidly together against her front, tilting her head to peer up at him once she had closed some of the distance between them.
"Did you having anything particular in mind?"
Despite her best efforts she couldn't help but continue to smile, she only hoped it didn't appear as goofy to him, but she couldn't help it! It made her want to laugh more, to hug him almost, just realizing how silly she'd been behaving before. No matter how far down she was, there would always be people there to help her up again.. all she had to do was look. Even in the heart of the person she'd last expect to bother with her, she found a unique sense of care and compassion. She felt that somewhere deep down he really wasn't as recklessly self-absorbed as people would like to gossip over. Maybe she didn't revive the Drama club, maybe she didn't fully live the dream she'd had for high school, and maybe she wasn't as happy as she could be with her life.. but maybe she'd finally found another friend, thought it may be strange of her to jump to that conclusion so quickly. She didn't want to appear too giddy despite being excited over finally having her spirits brightened again.

"Sure! Let's go."
He started off immediately, a tempo in his step and a gusto in his voice that had wholly been missing just moments before. Her mood was too infectious. He could hide it by tampering the emotion in his voice, slowing his steps, to allow her to catch up, and even relaxing his arms to produce the stereotypical image of a delinquent without a care in the world...but it was too late to hide his initial reaction. He couldn't help it. It was as if she saw something in him that nobody else could, or even bothered to see. Well why would they? He was a good for nothing delinquent with an arm that can't even allow him to do the one thing he was good at. What did she see him in to make her smile so brightly? Had his presence really made her so happy? It seemed to make the quarry of guilt dig deeper into his heart, but he hid behind her smile, choosing instead to enjoy those bright and shining eyes of hers.
"You know...it's not hopeless yet. I'm sure there's at least one other festival coming up...I'm sure you could reform the drama club in time for that."
He dove into the statement, opting to start the conversation on a few observations and implications rather then buffering it with some small talk or lead up to the subject itself. He wasn't quite sure why he had said the statement, or why he had invited her along, or why he felt so...conflicted with every step he took. He didn't even know where to begin. However...going with the flow had served him well in the past. With any luck it would it would serve him well now too. Shooting a quick glance in her direction, she seemed happy enough. Her personality seemed to be such that...faking such an emotion wouldn't be an easy task for her. He knew how to lie with a straight face. He knew what it took to do so. He doubted she had the character, or skills, to pull off the same.
They were heading towards the profit-centric area of town. They were leaving behind the soothing tone of the flowing water and chattering birds as the quiet din of a distant crowd began to gradually overtake it. He wasn't sure what his plan was. Or if he even had a plan. There were a very small number of people he had ever met in his life that ever had the ability to be so...infectious. Something told him if he could find two such people...and put them together...well, it would certainly make things interesting. Furukawa was quiet...honest...kind. It was calming, and was definitely one of her positive traits. But her mood from just moments ago had seemed to indicate she was more then just a little sad...while it seemed his presence had helped, there was only one surefire answer for the face he had witnessed. Another sharp pang hit him as the base of his heart, but the solution in his mind burned bright in his mind, and the pang soon washed away until it was nothing more then an inconceivably dull throb. An unstoppable ball of energy hell-bent on eating every morsel of food in sight. It wouldn't be long now...

This was the proper meeting place, wasn’t it? Erina spun around to double-check the store she stood in front of, as if it may have changed since her arrival ten minutes ago. Yes, it was still the tiny snack shop she had indicated to her upperclassman a few days ago. And she had told him the right time, hadn’t she? Okazaki sure liked being late, and this time there weren’t even any fun games to keep her occupied!
With nothing else to entertain her, the girl opened a small box of strawberry chocolate from her purse, popping a few pieces into her mouth every few seconds and chewing rapidly. “If Okazaki-sempai doesn’t get here before I finish my chocolate then…” she began, trailing off to consider the rest of her sentence. “Then… I’ll stand on my head!” She smiled and nodded confidently to herself, satisfied with her own little game, then glanced downward into the already half-empty box.
“Oh…”
The ground here looked kind of dirty. It wouldn’t be the same as in her house, would it? Maybe it would be better to eat more slowly…
“Ah! Okazaki-sempaaaaaai~!”
Her pigtails had been spared contact with the ground. Spotting the boy coming up the road, Erina began to wave frantically. She threw a small handful of chocolate into her mouth before scampering over, catching sight of the girl beside him only when she had come within a few feet away. For a moment, she paused to take notice of her, slightly confused but not unhappy with the presence of a third party. The more the merrier, right?
“Ah, you brought another friend!” she exclaimed once she’d swallowed her mouthful of candy, slowing down to walk the last few steps toward them. Why hadn’t she thought to do the same? It seemed so obvious now! Then everyone could have met someone new today!
“Yasuda Erina of class 1-A~!” she stated without hesitation, using the default introduction she had become so accustomed to. Ah, she’d done it again, hadn’t she? She’d said her class even though she wasn’t even sure if Okazaki’s friend was in the same school as them! Oh well. Maybe if she didn’t say anything, no one would notice. That had worked well enough last time.
“I’m so happy you got here, Okazaki-sempai! I didn’t want to stand on my head!”

Another Festival, that was quite the lucky break, it would give her both an incentive to revive the Club as well as give her more time to prepare.. well, what exactly what would she prepare? Should she do a play? Some sort of performance would certainly be necessary. She didn't know, she'd figure it all out later once the club had been re-established and re-populated; and somehow now she was certain it'd turn out differently than last time. Was Tomoya all she needed to make a difference? At first she wasn't sure what skills he had aside from scaring people and talking to strangers, but she could certainly see what had made her able to speak to him so easily now, to trust him once more, to find hope and faith in his words. As rarely as it seemed to be done genuinely, his smile felt like something magical all together. It ranged from something so simple as a friendly sign of encouragement to a reminder of never letting your senseless fears and worries destroy your dreams; that's how she saw it anyways. The sound of another female's voice perked her up from her mid-stride daydreaming. She looked further down way to the girl waving quite eagerly in their direction, before toddling over.
“Ah, you brought another friend!”
Nagisa couldn't help but smile at that moment, friend... it already made her even happier just thinking about it. Was she his friend? Did he consider her that already? Would he even want to? She tilted her head, glancing up toward him for only a moment in curiosity to see if he'd correct the girl and dismiss her assumptions. After a short while she turned her attention back to Erina, noting that she'd introduced herself and almost getting a little flustered from having not done so in return yet. She didn't wish to seem so rude or distracted, it wasn't a quality she presented often, or would enjoy ever having. She offered a polite bow with her hands still clasped together in front of her, speaking softly now.
"Oh -- I'm Nagisa Furukawa, class 3-B~ It's nice to meet you."
“I’m so happy you got here, Okazaki-sempai! I didn’t want to stand on my head!”
"Stand.. on your head? That sounds really uncomfortable."
She stated with another smile. So this was the reason Tomoya had been out here in the first place, he was meeting a friend. It was.. something she wasn't really capable of doing, at least not at the moment, who did she have? Well, hopefully she'd soon become acquainted at least with Tomoya, and Erina, she'd like to have someone to talk to again. The girl was silly, to say the least, but she could only assume that such a personality compared to Okazaki's would have a beneficial effect on him, like some strange therapeutic occurrence. It made her wonder, could she ever have an effect on him as well? Could she help make him happy? He'd done the same for her, he'd helped her pick herself up and keep walking, she'd hate to be so selfish and let a favor like that go unappreciated. Though, what still made her puzzled was his reasons -- why was he helping her now? Why did he ever talk to her in the first place, or offer a hand if he was planning to leave her to it all by herself?
She really hoped it wouldn't turn out to be that way again, worrying despite having considered his words to hold the utmost honesty. Oh well, she'd let it go for now, there were more important and peaceful things to focus on - like the moment she was living in. Smiles to be had, laughter to let loose, friendship to spark, dreams to flourish, hope to build and last, and another Festival to prepare for.

He had tried everything to get her to drop the "Sempai" title. He had yet to succeed. The girl, who he he had seen a surprising amount as of late, worked, to his knowledge, very simply. She was a switch. Either on or off. On: a being of pure energy. Eager to expend said energy in any way possible, be it jumping, dancing, spinning, yelling, screaming, sprinting...the list was nearly endless, or, and this was far more dangerous, refueling it with a mountain of food and drink, not only wreaking havoc and virtually unstoppable, but fueled with even more energy to continue wreaking havoc until the next refuel. Despite this deadly cycle, there also existed Off: Slower and more sluggish then him on his worst days. Lazier then a delinquent. On his worst day. If he knew what he was talking about he would diagnose her as bi-polar in an instant and send her off for pills, but unfortunately she seemed sane enough that most people let her pass. He was supposed to be the strange one? Hoping for the off switch was a distant dream however, as he had seen her pop in some fuel just before she had noticed them. It was likely for the best, a zombified Yasuda wouldn't do much for Furukawa's mood...still, this would be a long, long lunch...he hoped. Any quicker and he was certain it would be because they had been thrown out...best case. Worst case they would have to pay for damages.
“I’m so happy you got here, Okazaki-sempai! I didn’t want to stand on my head!”
Thrown out. Definitely thrown out. He had long since given up making any sense of her random outbursts. Attempting to trace them seemed to only complicate things even more and always seemed to result in both a headache, and another conundrum to puzzle over. Instead, he opted to take the practical approach, and simply react to them as they came.
"I'm sure you would have loved to stand on your head wouldn't you?"
He asked dubiously. Eyeing her with suspicion. To anyone else his eyes may have been intimidating, but he had yet to find a time where she was scared of him... Was she simply too naive to understand what kind of image he portrayed? Probably. He wouldn't be surprised.
"Stand.. on your head? That sounds really uncomfortable."
"Careful. She might make you do it too."
He knew full well the capacity she had for dragging people into silly situations. Especially him. In fact...from his experience, it was ONLY him. This seemed completely nonsensical and out of place for a variety of reasons, the primary reason highlighting why a short, female freshmen was bossing around a much taller, senior delinquent. Not that he would ever share these little adventures with the blonde idiot he seemed to spend a majority of his time with, but even the idiot wouldn't believe there...unique relationship. Unless there was a catch. Maybe a few pranks in the mix. He would think it over some other time. At least he had a witness this time...or a decoy. Worst case. But they were in a public place filled with enough food to distract her for eons. He took a moment to wordlessly apologize to Furukawa for considering using the innocent girl as a decoy, and attempted to cut off the attention they were rapidly garnering, mostly due to Yasuda's ecstatic greeting, by moving towards there table.
"Come on, we can continue this conversation after we take our seats"

“Furukawa… sempai?” Oh, good! Okazaki’s friend did go to their school then! Unless… She was stating her class at another school? No, no, she was a third year like him, so he probably knew her from class. Now that she thought of it, Okazaki never had told her his class…
“I’m sure you would have loved to stand on your head, wouldn’t you?”
“Stand… on your head? That sounds really uncomfortable.”
“Careful. She might make you do it too.”
“Nooooo~!” Erina protested, puffing her cheeks. “The ground is suuuper dirty!” She glanced over at Furukawa, looking her over once more. Why would anyone make her stand on her head? The ground was no place for such an adorable girl to put her head! Furukawa was even smaller than her. Was she really a third year?
“Come on, we can continue this conversation after we take our seats.”
Oh! Snacks! Of course! She quickly hurried after the older boy, turning back to look at Furukawa every few seconds with a bright smile and eyes sparkling with excitement. Yummy food and a new friend! Today was a lucky day! Did she feel it too? Maybe if she kept smiling really big, she would…
“Furukawa-sempai is very, very cute!” the freshman announced abruptly, shifting her attention back to Okazaki. “So why would I make her stand on her head and get her hair all dirty?” She took her seat at their table and nodded with apparent conviction. “Looking at Furukawa-sempai makes me want to do nice things, not mean things! Like… um… give her a giant cake~!” She swung her arms outward to indicate the enormity of her imagined gift.
That would make any girl happy! She quickly looked over at Furukawa, anticipating her reaction as if she had, in fact, given her a gargantuan cake.

It took so much effort to contain her laughter. Was this really Tomoya Okazaki she was standing beside? The delinquent everyone always chattered about behind his back? The only friend she'd known him to have was Sunohara, and even then their bond came in causing mischief together. To see someone like Erina.. it was, cute, to say the least. However, that made her worry all the more, had something drastically changed in him so quickly? Not that it was a bad thing he was befriending other people, it just seemed so unexpected. Though, maybe she was just what he needed? An energetic, playful and kind spirit to help break that shell he liked to put up around himself. Though.. what if this wasn't Tomoya? What if it was some sort of clone sent out as a decoy while the real one was being captured and experimented on to see what could make someone so grumpy all the time~
"Heehee.."
She hadn't realized that the giggle slipped out, nor did she notice how brightly she was smiling. She enjoyed the moments where her imagination ran a little wild, it was fun, and she certainly needed something fun after how the rest of the day had gone so far. Her eyes began to look the other girl over curiously, noting her appearance. She really did seem like a genuine kind, sweet, and cute girl.. which again raised a slight suspicion, it seemed so odd to see Tomoya with her; though what if she'd just been misjudging him this entire time? Everyone had kindness in their heart, everybody wants to have somebody to talk to.
“Furukawa-sempai is very, very cute!”
"E-eh?.."
“So why would I make her stand on her head and get her hair all dirty?”
She blinked a bit, snapped out of her odd day-dreaming and speculation, the words taking a moment to settle in before she felt a bit of warmth rise to her face and form a faint line of red across. Nagisa shifted over and took a seat as well, trying her best to subtly hide the fact that her blush was only worsening the more she thought about it. She lifted her head just in time to catch the last comment, fascinated by how large of a cake she apparently was considered deserving of. Could anyone anyone even eat something like that? She wondered what it would be like, what kind it would be, whether it'd be decorated.. she began to realize it was only making her all the more hungry however.
"I-i'm not sure I'd know what to do with that much cake~ It could probably feed the whole town."
She playfully exaggerated. The blush was a bit more evident now, making her bow her head for a moment and try to will it away by taking a deep breath and relaxing herself. She might've regretted how things turned out before, how she felt that she didn't give enough effort to make things work out, but she hadn't regretted taking the offer to join them both here. She wasn't sure what was to become of this, but anything was better than sitting alone for an eternity on a grassy shore. The grass certainly wouldn't offer her such large quantities of cake.

Now eating dinner with two girls instead of one, he had originally been wary that it would too awkward, especially with the sudden arrival of Furukawa in the mix. Not that awkwardness had ever plagued him personally...but in a formal restaurant where everyone is forced to face each other and encouraged to have conversation...it might make the situation more difficult for the others, especially if they were strangers right from the start. He wasn't always the most talkative type after all. Luckily for him, Yasuda started working her magic immediately, incorporating Furukawa into there circle so quickly, it was as if she had naturally been a part of it the entire time.
"So Furukawa falls in the category of being too cute to stand on her head..but you don't. What does that make you?"
Crossed arms and a cocky half-smile matched with closed eyes gave him the image of a man who had presented infallible, compromising evidence that would be sure to hit it's mark. Though he would never admit it, he was content and having some fun as well. He couldn't properly explain it in words or thoughts...but Yasuda had a way of making everyone's day brighter...and it couldn't have been more obvious then through Furukawa. Though she had greeted him with a smile, he could easily tell she had been depressed. Sitting all alone, staring out into the distance...it was exactly like the first moment when they had met. On the hill leading up to school. The long, long hill. He had a feeling that if he hadn't interrupted her thoughts, she may have stayed at the base of the hill forever. Secretly, he was glad she was here. Her eyes seemed to be much brighter now then when he had met her earlier that day.
"Hey! You've never wanted to do anything nice for me just from looking at me."
Yasuda rarely seemed to think before she spoke, which made responding to her wild statements quite easy for someone who had had ample practice making quick responses to off the wall statements. She would miss the joke from time to time, but whenever she caught on, her reactions seemed to be just as overblown as a certain delinquent acquaintance of his. As if on queue she responded
"E-ehhhh? Um, um! Okazaki-sempai can be cute too, if you want to be!"
Had the room just gone entirely silent? Or was that just him? It was at moments like this he would later think back on and ponder if she was really as clueless as she seemed, or if she was secretly an evil genius who, in reality, caught on to every one of his remarks and quips and dished it back in full. She even had an audience this time preventing him from counter-attacking! Touche Yasuda. Touche.
Begrudgingly content to keep the playing field where he had always intended it to be, he responded to Furukawa accordingly.
"Oh the townsfolk would never get a chance. She would likely finish the entire thing herself."

"Okazaki."
She pouted, as if playfully scolding to the other, to some degree.
"I don't think she'd be so greedy~ I bet she'd love to share with everyone... you might be the one we'd have to worry about."
It was her turn to tease him now; it wasn't something she did often at all, but she felt its light hearted nature was appropriate for making the transition from utter loneliness to enjoying lunch with two others people she hadn't gotten to know that well yet a bit easier for everyone. A faint giggle accompanied the smile that'd quickly replaced the faked pout upon her face. Slowly she turned her attention to Erina once her fit of giggling had subsided.
"Hmm.. do you think there's a kind of cake that's so good that everyone would enjoy it if you gave them some?"
She wasn't sure what'd brought the question on, but friendly conversation was always a good start with people she didn't know, it wasn't as if it'd somehow offend the other girl... hopefully. She really was glad that she'd decided to go out today. Even if at first it was just to get away from everyone and sulk for a while, it'd turned into something more hopeful and encouraging, something she probably wouldn't have been able to experience if she stayed locked up at home for another day.
Her gaze slowly shifted over to glance up toward Tomoya, her thoughts beginning to wander. If he hadn't of seen her when he did, would he have ever offered for her to join in on something such as this? What if he ran into her on a different day, with different plans, would be still go to her? What if she didn't seem upset, would he ignore her? She didn't think of him as the kind of person that sought to make themselves feel less responsible for something as opposed to genuinely wanting to help.
But why had he brought her along to lunch with one of his friends? Maybe it was just spontaneous... she could understand that, she'd done similar things herself. Regardless, he didn't seem to be suffering too much, and his friend didn't seem to dislike her as far as she knew, so all was well. Maybe this could become more common in the near future? She'd like to have people to talk to again, especially ones so interesting and... enthusiastic? Would that word work for Erina? She couldn't come up with many others at the moment.
Another thought crossed her mind, the same one from earlier. Tomoya was a known delinquent that often kept to himself unless he had some intention of causing trouble, but Erina seemed to be an outgoing person that probably spoke to most anyone who'd listen, so how did either of them grow to become friends? She could see the other girl being accepting of him, but she didn't figure Tomoya to have wanted to befriend another energetic person. At times it seemed like he already had his hands full with Sunohara, but Erina seemed energetic in a different sense, her energy was used for excitement and fun, not ranting and trying to disprove Tomoyo's gender.
She came to the same conclusion as before, no one wants to be alone, and Sunohara might not always be there. There may be something that the boy had been searching for, some part of him she couldn't see just yet, some sort of yearning for attention that didn't come in the form of belittling or reprimanding. Maybe he'd been wanting to make more friends all this time; one's reputation can make things difficult for someone trying to change, especially when it's formed by gossip and rumors, and held by the stubborn and shortsighted.

Furukawa seemed to have accepted her imaginary cake and Erina was delighted. She rocked from side to side in her seat, enjoying the light conversation that had begun to bounce between them. It was definitely her lucky day! She was getting food, spending time with a good friend, and meeting a brand new friend on top of that! A very nice, cute friend!
How was Furukawa so cute? Maybe it was her super power? Or maybe she had speial cute training! Could she be that cute too if she trained extra hard? But Furukawa was a senior, so she must have had more experience in cuteness!
"Furukawa-sempai is right! I like sharing! I always share!" the young girl exclaimed as the other playfully defended her. "But sometimes Okazaki-sempai is a meanie and doesn't share his food with me~!"
She giggled and squirmed about in her seat, drunk on the cheerful atmosphere, but quickly straightened up at Furukawa's next question, her eyes wide. "I want a cake like that! Then we could share with everyone and we could make lots and lots of new friends!"
Her expression was glowing but distant as she spoke; The fascination of such a concept lit up her entire face, but her eyes grew unfocused as her mind conjured up a fantasy involving said cake. What would it look like? Taste like? What about the texture? If they were going to share it with everyone, it would have to be gigantic! Even bigger than Furukawa's cake! Was there anyplace big enough to even fit a cake that big?
"It can be a super cake that tastes like everything!"

"I'm sorry I need to eat to survive! Sharing with you is the same as giving away everything I have."
He retorted back, acting annoyed as usual. He beckoned to Furukawa before speaking in a hushed tone, using Erina's giggling as cover.
"It's not about greed, the food just disappears before anyone realizes what's going on. Share at your own risk. "
He faked a cough and returned to his former position, the overjoyed girl none the wiser to his comment.
"I want a cake like that! Then we could share with everyone and we could make lots and lots of new friends!"
"Oi oi, rather then focusing on a big imaginary cake, figure out if what you ordered is enough for you or not".
His words fell on deaf ears of course. She was in dream land again. The land where...god knows what was occurring at the moment. He glanced over at Furukawa for a moment to see if she was perplexed by her rude behavior, and begin to explain.
"Oh don't worry, she'll be back soon. Right now she's just imagining that cake. Her imagination is even scarier then mine if you can believe it."
He didn't bother quieting his voice this time, as he was well aware his words were only being heard by one other person. He continued talking to Furukawa, staring absentmindedly at the girl, now concentrating on his own interpretation of her fantasy, explaining in a very matter-of-fact tone.
"She probably began with the large cake...but that was too normal...too ordinary for her brain. An ordinary cake of that size wasn't enough for her - it had to be alive. With the same thoughts and emotions as you or I. It wanted to make friends at first and live a normal life...but alas, it was not to be. The cake was shrinking. It didn't have much time left. And who was to blame for this tragedy? Us. It was a cake after all. People were hungry and wanted to eat it...but it couldn't allow that. It couldn't allow itself to disappear from the sweet tooth of others. No...soon it became hungry itself! With nobody to stop it's sugary rampage it devoured everyone in existence. With every ingestion it grew, it's hunger only desiring for more...always more. It grew and grew and grew until it devoured the school itself! But still it was not satisfied, much like Erina's stomach, it's appetite only continued to grow. First the school...then the town...then all of Japan...and finally the world itself."
Just at that moment she snapped back to reality, replying with, what was most likely, the most pertinent comment to her imaginings.
"It can be a super cake that tastes like everything!"
He gave Furukawa a solemn but knowing gaze.
"There's only one way for a cake to truly taste like everything..."
And with that, there food had finally arrived. (ooc; So I know we never technically ordered the food but I figured the thread had gone on for a while and for them to only order now and then wait for it and THEN eat would make things more difficult. What do you guys want to do? We can either edit a section before hand where they ordered the food or it can be the type of place where you order upfront (at the counter) and wait for it to get ready, or we can just have them order now and then time skip at a later point if we feel like the thread is dragging. Just let me know through messages or whatever and I'll update what the general plan is here and if anyone has any thoughts or objections we can get that sorted out. Alternatively if anyone wants to make a thread on an OOC board and take that route that's cool too but I figured this was a relatively minor thing and didn't justify going that far.)
