Shopping For Starfish Material: Wood

”Why am I the one to do all the footwork? Kichiro sighed as he stepped into the arts and craft store.
Ever since he had gotten involved with Fuko, Tomoyo, and Kyou, he had been running around rabid; getting supplies, getting information, figuring out who this sister Fuko was always going on about. It was just so much work, but at the same time he guessed he couldn’t complain. Part of it was still feeling guilty about the issue with Tomoyo, but part of it was wanting to honestly help the girl. Whatever the situation was with her, something wasn’t right about it, and he wanted to figure out what it was. He may have been a socially awkward youth, but he wasn’t stupid, and more importantly, he was a good guy.
Still, he could complain about being the one to have to go and get the wood and stuff. Fuko’s plan involved a mass amount of wood, and the Art classes were starting to notice all the missing wood. Add in not wanting to teach Fuko stealing was right, they had decided to either find spare wood around the city or buy some. And by buy some, they meant send him to go get it, though at least they were nice to split the costs amongst all three of them evenly. Grabbing a shopping basket, Kichiro made his way to raw materials and started to get as much of the wood as he could possibly get…..
-----------
After reluctantly parting with basically the rest of his money for the week, Kichiro grabbed the bags. Unfortunately for him, this store liked the old fashioned paper bags that didn’t have handles on it. So he was now forced to awkwardly hold them and carry them in his arms, giving him very limited range of movement. This was going to be such an inconvenient trip home, and it was starting off pretty early with the door of the store. Someone, in their brilliant idea, had made the door one that opened inward, so he couldn’t just push his way through. No, he had to stand there with his arms full, desperately trying to get a grip on the door just enough to get his foot through it so he could just push it open from there. He had to look like quite an idiot doing that, but the registers were busy and he didn’t want to bother the cashiers….. [/blockquote]

= = = = Oh, stained-glass sky ways and crowded six-lane highways If I look back when I begin to leave, will they remember me? “Mrrww..” A very lean cat with abnormal amount of “puff” in his fur was strolling by the young Miss.Tsukino.
“Shiki-san..” His owner said yet it could have been viewed at as a whisper or as even a ghost crept by your side and mumbled the words.
Shiki was a tri-colored Siberian Cat with the fur covering his stomach pure white like the snow on the first snow day of the winter season with even the tip of his ears, and paws the same color. The remaining two colors were oak brown and coal black which patterned across his body like of a tiger’s coat. The eyes which was bestowed on the cat where of the richest greens of an Evergreen forest mixed wit hthe enduring gray of the clouds.
On this fine day, Kuniko and her assistant, Shiki the cat, were going off to the hardware store to see if there was any jobs available for her mother, Chie, or herself to help the family. Kuniko slipped her hands into her pockets even though they were well protected from her long sleeves. She soon zoned out during the time, hearing everything around here to go slower and slower.. to her own mind to explore around.
The shoes are going at a fast pace today… The wind is blowing at the farthest west so the trees won’t ruffle.. There’s less chattering from everyone about now… Shiki’s meowing seems to set the tempo for this day..
I’ll possibly call this song, “Cat’s End Winter Song.”
These ideas flowed calmly through her mind as if there was a river. Her distant-colored eyes were soon analyzing the area as the hardware store was closing in and with that, Shiki meowed elegantly as if he was of higher class. “Mroo..”
Soon, both master and pet were at the doorway. Shiki's ears soon twitched rapidly, hearing the sounds of registers being tapped at such high speeds but she soon scampered off a bit faster then usual and thus rested on his butt, sitting infront of the door. As being a cat, his curiosuity did grew to that of Alice in Alice in Wonderland and extended his front paws and placed them againist the cold glass front door, dragging them across it.
The cat did obviously knew that there was a poor boy around possibly his master's age holding his bags like an imbecile and he looked up, meowing oh so innocently at the stranger at the opposite side. These were his attempts of mocking the trapped boy.
"..Please, Shiki, calm the pace a bit." Kuniko whispered lightly as she soon pulled out her hand from her pockets. The duo had a very strange relationship yet the function as if they were one at the greatest of times. The cat would, for example, know the exact blades to cut fish as his owner knew which random fish that the cat which to dine on that day too.
Her delicate as paper fingers soon touched the door but she was looking down at the cat, talking to him but she sighed purely out of bliss.
"..Honestly, Shiki.." She mumbled towards her cat.
"Mrrr..." The cat cackeld a bit in his own cat language.
"..What are you laughing about now.." She shook her head oh so calmly at her cat as she spoke this.
Miss.Tsukino soon turned her action towards the glass door, seeing a boy seemingly desperate for help! She soon reacted on her own instincts and slipped her hand onto the handle, pushing it the hardest she could and opened it. The cat soon waddled towards a tree and snickered a bit, watching his master doing her usual tasks of caring for other humans and not herself.
"..Sir, do you need help?" Her ghostly whisper came into play as she now was looking at the Brown haired boy who oddly held bags in his arms..
..What unqiue people I meet around these parts..

By this point, Kichiro was starting to curse the existence of doors as he struggled to get the stupid thing open. Doors were apparently not meant for people who had their hands full. As if to taunt him, right at that moment a cat showed up in front of the door and started pawing at the door, meowing. If only the cat had been big enough to get the door open would he have been happy. For now though, it was more of an annoyance. Around that time a girl showed up, but obviously did not notice his presence in this situation (which was about par for him really). Instead, she was focused on the cat….
Just as Kichiro tried one more time to open the door with his foot, the girl succeeded in pushing the door open for him. For once grace was on his side as he prevented himself from getting knocked over, and carefully he made his way around the door. He was finally free to head home! Before he could thank the girl, she asked if he needed help. That was odd; shouldn’t she have asked that before opening the door for him? Or did she just mean help him carrying the rest of the bags. Hmmm, that would be kind of rude of him to get a stranger to help him with his bags like this, though she looked to be about his age. Maybe she went to the same school as him…..which means he could probably give her one of Fuko’s starfish and knock out another person on the list.
Of course, all the starfish he had were at home. So that would mean that if the girl was to get one, she would have to follow him home. And if she were following home, she could probably help out a bit by carrying a few of these bags. Not that he was physically weak of course; he could carry them all on his own. It would just be more…convenient. Yeah, convenient.
”This might sound odd, but depends. Do you go to Hikarizaka High School?” [/blockquote]

“The bags, sir..”
Kuniko kept her eyes fixed at the boy and his brown eyes. Her mind was set out for others and ever herself. She soon was raised a question by the boy about what school she attends. She seemed a bit surprised with the way her right eyebrow raised, giving her a childish look. She wasn’t rather used to people asking about things like that and oddly, knowing where one goes to school is considered personal to her.
The girl placed her right foot onto the door, still keeping the door wide open that way her feline friend could precede into entering the store. Shiki cackled a bit softly seeing at how the situation was unraveling as his owner was calmly leaning closer to the stranger but at a respectable distance. His tail flicked side to side like a charmed snake as it soon wrapped around his owner’s leg. He soon rested his buttocks onto his owner’s right foot as if he were the king of the her shoe.
Kuniko was awkwardly trying to arrange the words in her head as the experience was new to her. She blinked for a couple of seconds as first she looked up towards the ceiling, counting every crack and then to the floor but right back to the boy’s eyes.
“…Affirmative.”
She nodded her head very slowly but sighed, as she took a mental note that she replies rather too slowly. Her arms soon unfolded as if they were waiting to help the boy if he answered yes.

Kichiro could tell rather quickly that the girl had thought his question rather odd. Her eyebrow had raised, but at least she hadn’t run off thinking him a pervert or weird or something. Instead, she just stood there, patiently waiting for him to give her some of the bag, leaning in closer to him while propping up the door. If he wasn’t so desperate right now, he’d probably be feeling rather uncomfortable. Combined with that though was some annoyance; that cat was still haunting them at the moment. He figured it had to belong to the girl or something like that.
In the awkward silence that followed his question, Kichiro was starting to think maybe he had asked the wrong girl for help. Eventually, however, she finally spoke a simple “Affirmative” to his question. Well, at least that meant he could give her a starfish when all of this was over with. Her arms unfolded, which he assumed a signal for him to hand over some of the bags. Lifting his arms up, he found he really couldn’t give her the bag; she was going to have to do it herself.
”Uhm, you’ll have to grab it yourself. Sorry.”
Whenever that was over with, Kichiro was glad to have found his arms were now free to actually move around and do something. Moving himself free from the door, he made his way out of the shop and started heading down the road in the direction of his house. He made sure to stay slow so the girl could keep up and know where he was going. Since she had answered yes to his question, he figured it was only fair for him to tell her exactly WHY he had asked such an odd question.
”Thanks for the help. Anyway, you’re probably wondering why I asked what school you went to. Well, the thing is, I’m trying to help this girl get out the word about her sister’s wedding; she wants everyone from the school to attend. When we’re done, I need to give you one of the starfish she made as an invitation. I hope that doesn’t sound too weird; believe me, I think it does and I’m one of the people helping.” he replied, laughing nervously. He really hoped this girl didn’t think him completely weird for what he was doing and asking. After all, it was a rather strange story. [/blockquote]
