"AHHH!"
And she had even been thinking of succeeding in not screaming, despite the numerous (well, it seemed numerous) horrors that they've already witnessed. Obviously, with this place a haunted house and all, something was bound to come out of the cabinet, but that knowledge didn't help Ryou at all. In fact, it might have heightened her fear, compounding with her relative confusion, and so, as a certain small girl-shaped shadow flung itself out of the compartment, the younger Fujibayashi... charged.
Perhaps, not knowing where to run to, and with all those nerves in knots, something went backward in her mind. It wasn't much of a dash forward, it was more of a clumsy stride, with the girl's arms failing as if she were trying to swat some fly. Inadvertently, the lass hit something... solid... with her head.
"Ouch." Ryou exclaimed. Looking up, she saw that she had hit... another person's head. And that person was very familiar... "Gah!" she exclaimed again. "Fuuko-chan!" She was the girl she and her sister had taken in... sort of. Then again, Fuuko seemed to have been missing when her sister had been harrying her out to the festival...
Fujibayashi Ryou's face flushed with what seemed like a revelation. Did her sister orchestrate all this, along with Fuuko? But Fuuko didn't seem to be realizing, yet, that she had met them before... her mind buzzed with the possibilities. She looked genuinely distressed, more than ever.
"I'm sorry... for hitting you..." she muttered, even as she massaged her own head. She really wasn't doing well with this.
Next time, whatever the cause, she really, really, really wouldn't enter something scary like this again!

In the face of such scariness, Fuko was presented with the boy stumbling backwards into the table, and the girl… running forward in a flail. Fuko put her hands up to defend herself from the attack, but luckily all she got was a smack in the head. Soon the chaos calmed down, and Fuko rubbed the sore spot on her head. With everything calm again, Fuko could finally get a good look at the people facing her….which were Kyou’s sister Ryou and that Kichiro kid that Tomoyo had introduced her too. Ryou was acting like herself, apologizing and flustered about it all. Kichiro, meanwhile, was acting rather dull and, what did he call it, deadpan? A very strange difference in reaction, with Fuko simply looking at them just as odd.
Eventually it dawned on Fuko what exactly had happened. She had just jumped out, scared, and offered starfish to two friends of hers that were helping with starfish! Oh my, that had to be embarrassing. Oh well, nothing they could do about it now. Besides, it was fun to see the look on Kichiro’s face, and Ryou’s as well (though she found more fun in teasing Kichiro for some reason). Putting the starfish down, Fuko just looked at the two of them….well, this was an awkward situation.
”Sorry for scaring you two, but Fuko was told to scare everyone who came through here. In return, Fuko could give out starfish to the people she scared….can Fuko go back in the cabinet now?”
It really wasn’t that she enjoyed sitting back in the cabinet, but she did have a job to and starfish to give out. While she would like to talk to them, she had to get back to handing out starfish. They could all chit-chat later on after the festival. For now, she had a mission to do, and she was going to do it. Everyone could count on Fuko to do a job! [/blockquote]

Ryou's chest heaved a bit as she recovered, and she even managed to make a low chuckle. She had to admit that the situation was interesting, and perhaps even funny, although she could not fully appreciate how amusing it was with her frazzled state of mind. It was amusing, and a little self-consciously frightening, that in this state even a friend jumping out of a cupboard... or whatever it was... was enough to make them jump out of their skins. Perhaps that was where the word 'jumpy' came from. They were jumpy, Kichiro and she.
She breathed in, then out, and repeated the process a couple more times. She wondered if she'd been doing this little breathing exercise ever since they'd had a breather from the scaries. She hadn't been able to remember, to keep track. She chuckled again, in spite, or perhaps because, of herself. She would have looked like her elder sister laughing quietly if there was not the obvious tremble in her trill. And... Fujibayashi Kyou didn't laugh quietly.
Her eyes scanned Fuuko, and saw that she was slowly coming to the realization of just what was happening here. They had taken quite a long turn before they realized what was happening... Fuuko was making them look a little slow...
"Well, I guess you may." she replied to the starfish proliferator. Her replies were a little readier than usual; the switch-and-bait bit of this haunted house had gotten a little to her.
She wondered how Fuuko had come to this place, and how she had been snagged by the organizers to be part of the ruckus. Oh well, it was the festival. Everybody's got to join in the fun, though she didn't really think this haunted house was exactly fun... still, Fuuko and haunted houses, they somehow were starkly contrasting that... there was something quaint about the combination.
Remembering something, she gestured toward the other girl. "W-wait, Fuuko-chan!" she called. "Where's the exit to this place?" That was something they had to know at all costs, after all.

Kichiro couldn't help but notice Ryou's....odd reaction to the entire thing. Instead of going backwards like he did, she charged forward right into the enemy. Great, the girl was the braver one in this situation. Still, it at least calmed the situation down some with humor as the two girls bumped heads. Even he had to let out a bit of a laugh in between calming breathes. This entire situation had really started to get bizarre as Ryou and him began to calm down a little from all this. Out of everything that could happen, FUKO popping out of the cabinet was the last thing that he would have expected. Oddly enough, that just made it kind of scarier than a random monster. You could expect that to happen; you wouldn't expect a small schoolgirl to pop out. Even looking back on it, Fuko hadn't even come out that scarily; it was the atmosphere that had ruined it all for them. Still, it was over and done, and at least it was a friendly face to scare them.
Once Fuko recovered, she apologized for scaring them and told them what had happened..sort of. While Kichiro really was wondering how exactly Fuko got roped into her situation, he had to admit she had gotten them. It was a good choice for whoever made this thing up. To add onto it all, Fuko was quickly asking to go back into the cabinent, and alongside Ryou, Kichiro gave her permission. Ryou, however, soon quickly asked for the exit to the place, a question he hadn't thought to have asked.
"Oh, the exit? It's just beyond that door. This is the last room. Hope you had fun. And please tell everyone else you meet to come her for Fuko's starfishes." [/i] With that, Fuko walked backed into the cabinet and secured herself. Kichiro just kind of blinked, not really sure on how to react to all that had just occured... "Well, that was, uhm, interesting....so shall we get out of here?" he asked, the confusion helping to hid his eagerness to get out of the building.[/size][/blockquote]

"Yes, let's." she replied, actually starting to look a little happier.
Thank you, Fuuko-chan! she called after the little girl, a little embarrassed that their pintsize boarder had managed to scare her... and that she seemed to be much braver than her. It was almost ironic that the starfish giver had said that she hoped they had fun... or maybe it was just something the haunted house makers had asked her to say...
She turned to Kichiro, and even before the boy had gotten his senses back (and even before she got hers back, because, logically, Fujibayashi Ryou will not do this in a different sort of situation... maybe it was the suspension bridge effect...) she hugged the boy who had just been as afraid as she was, for but a little while. The little intimate action had been brought by the relief she felt washing down her psyche, and, well, gratitude, since Kichiro didn't run off even when they were both just as frightened... they had gone through this together.
"I'm really sorry for making you go through all this, Kichiro-san." she said, after breaking the five-second embrace. She felt a little flush come up her face with what she had done... it had been out of character... but it didn't seem altogether wrong...
She trotted off to the exit. Out of this frightful place.

Seeing that Ryou was just as glad to get out of this place as he was, Kichiro felt a little bit braver. Admittedly, that didn’t mean much since Fuko was apparently the last scare of the place. Of course that would fit him; getting courage just a little bit too late. It helped that embarrassment at being scared by Fuko of all people could get you more laughing at yourself than focus on the fear. However, he hoped that later on he could simply convince Ryou to not mention that to anyone; probably be fine since she didn’t want to admit she was scared of her too, right? At least they had to hide it from Kyou, who’d probably laugh to death at the thought of it all, followed by coming back to life to taunt him till the end of his days.
Soon Fuko left, leaving the two of them all alone, and Kichiro found himself being embraced by the girl. Not really sure what to say, Kichiro was just standing there frozen a bit. His face was starting to blush when she finally let go off of him. He would have breathed a sigh of relief, but that would have been rude so he tried to act like he was perfectly fine (yeah, that had worked so splendidly for him so far). She apologized for making him go through all of this, but he didn’t mind at all. Yes, he hated haunted houses and didn’t want to step in another one for the rest of his life, but they had gotten through all right. And admittedly, he did sort of like the hug she had given…..and his thoughts were going in the wrong direction. This was Kyou’s sister; getting involved with her was probably spelling certain serious injury and/or death. Still, he had to admit it wasn’t a bad feeling at all getting hugged by her….
”I-it was okay Ryou. You don’t have to apologize for it at all…” he replied as she headed out of the building, him following right behind. Hopefully this whole chapter could be put behind them…. [/blockquote]
