#A more thorough description (optional) ;An accurate word to describe Kojiro is "average". At five feet and seven inches tall, the young man is of average height for a male teen in Japan, contrasted with his older brother, Otomo Jun, who towers over his sibling at six feet dead. His build can be described as lithe, neither considered buff nor is he scrawny, owed to his simple diet, and years of kickboxing. These two factors have left him with a body weight of just under one hundred and thirty pounds, and powerful leg muscles. His tussled hair matches his father's, short, and chestnut brown, with the fringe sweeping across his brow.
Koji's complexion is fair, and (periodic teenage spot outbreaks aside) is smooth and unblemished. Otomo's overall look can also be considered average, the boy being neither a "high-school hearthrob" nor an ugly male. His eyes, however are perhaps his most distinguishing feature. Inheriting a genetic condition from his great-grandfather, Koji suffers from diminished sight in his left eye, thanks to Congenital Amaurosis. Not noticeable from afar, his left eye's cloudiness is glaringly obvious to anyone in his near vicinity, something Koji is very self-conscious about.
Kojiro wears the typical male Hikarizaka school uniform, with the blue third year badge on the pocket, with dark blue pants, and a pair of brown shoes. Keeping his jacket neatly buttoned up, and his tie tucked safely away, for Koji believes in maintaining a good appearance. Outside of school, his dress code is much more lax. Dressing himself in stone colors, ranging anywhere from lighter greys, to the darker slates, his favorite wear consists of many form-fitting long-sleeved shirts, which he finds most comfortable. On top of this, he favors a sandy brown jacket, darker blue denims, and standard size eight sneakers. He enjoys wrapping up warm in a faux fur-lined jacket during winter time, topped off with a woolly scarf. .
#Personality ;
Typical of a normal high school student, Koji has no glaring social weaknesses, or incredible charismatic sway in conversation. Amiable to friends, and both welcoming and polite to strangers, he is altogether a very likable person, willing to help those in need. Taught by his parents to treat others with dignity and respect, Koji usually reserves judgment on others until he gets to know them, with few exceptions.
Formerly considered something of a rogue, Koji, approached by soccer thugs in his junior year, was beset, and demanded that he hand over his money, to which Koji refused, and ended up defending himself. The boy took it upon himself to nobly, if a little extremely, take matters into his own hands as he witnessed bullies and other unsavory students alike get away with serious misconducts. He has since dropped his vigilante-like mindset in favor of his studies, and tries his best to repair his somewhat questionable mannerisms.
Part of that rebellious nature, stems from his family life, which has been, as is often the case, anything from perfect. Though he was the second child to Masato and Haruka Otomo, Koji was doted on greatly, and given the name Kojiro to signify him being their "shining second child". His elder brother Jun, his senior of four years was Koji's idol, and his inspiration to learn music.
Possessing an aptitude for music, Koji, like his brother has perfect pitch, able to recreate notes from only listening to them. He has found his niche with both the guitar. He also has some skill, to a lesser extent, with the piano the piano. Though earning the admiration from his less musically-inclined friends, Koji was not offered a music scholarship, rather entering the school normally. Koji is nonetheless thankful for the friends and relationships that he has with people, one girl in particular.
Witnessing the sister of his classmate, Fujibayashi Ryou, lambaste a student for harassing her, Koji became enamored with the fierce tenacity of the sister, as she refused to back down from the pestering student's argument. He developed an attraction to the young woman, right through into his senior year, hesitant to act, he often stuttered when talking with the girl, showing his social weakness in approaching people he has feelings for. Koji however, has accepted that Fujibayashi Kyou harbors feelings for his classmate, Okazaki Tomoya, and has thus resigned himself to wishing her happiness should the two become an item.
Partway through his senior year, Koji has also made friends with the now-student president, Sakagami Tomoyo. Since their initial meeting, the two have shared some common personality traits and family issues, particularly that of parental disputes. Despite this, he finds the girl a warm, caring and very likable person.
Beyond friendships, Koji cares very much for his family, in particular his stepfather, Ken for whom he has immense respect and love one would impart to any natural father. Koji also cares greatly for his younger cousin, Aizawa Shouko, whom he treats more like a younger sister than a cousin.
#History ;
Kojiro was born near the Shinjiku District in Tokyo, as the second child of Masato and Haruka Otomo, and the younger brother of Jun, their first born. Koji's mother, working as a wedding seamstress for designer wedding brands, managed to put Jun through private education, where he developed his musical skills, though she found that her job would be unable to pay for full private schooling for her second child, working herself very hard to help, as her husband Masato worked only part time. Despite being in private schooling for most of his early education, Koji found it difficult to make friends in amongst the wealthy Tokyo heirs and heiresses. Burdened by long commutes, tiring work hours, and their children's dislike for the hectic Tokyo life, the Otomos decided to move to Hikarizaka City, which was significantly quieter, and close to Masato's parents.
Their life, however was not perfect. Stressful jobs for both parents resulted in less time spent with their children, and arguments mounted up. Masato, unable to cope with the stress and constant fighting, left in the middle of the night, never to return. Heartbroken that her husband would leave his family so suddenly, without a word, and with no indication as to where he was going, Haruka took some much-needed time off work to ensure Jun's transition into Hikarizaka Private High School went as seamless as possible. Koji however, vented his frustrations through kickboxing, while Jun vented through his music, expressing his feelings with a band he started with friends.
Shaken, and bitter towards his father, Koji made the decision to never speak to, or speak of the man again. His depression mellowed out thanks to his friends, even when leaving most of them to attend private schooling. His small circle of friends remained with him through his freshman year, and his mood only continued to elevate when his mother re-married a colleague from work, a man named Hasegawa Ken. Though worried he would not be an adequate father, Koji felt closer to the man than he did to his own father.
About two months into his freshman year, the fateful event, in which he developed feelings for Fujibayashi Kyou took place, and he would often discuss it with his younger cousin Aizawa Shouko, who encouraged him to pursue her during his senior year before it was too late.
Koji's encounter with soccer thugs in his junior year, coupled with seeing his father in public, crystallized his desire to give bullies a taste of their own medicine, taking it upon himself to deal violence unto violence. This act nearly resulted in his suspension, and led his parents threatening to pull him out of private schooling if his attitude did not improve. Deciding to let go of his bitterness towards his father, Koji, though remaining indifferent to the man, did eventually improve his attitude, and proceeded on as normal with his junior year, finally reaching his last year in high school.The Roleplayer's Corner

Winter. Once again it embraced the lone wanderer tightly as his feet crunched the snow and ice beneath them. Koji shivered, while his foggy breath plumed out of his reddened nostrils. A slight sniffle and a swallow on a scratchy throat made the phlegm bring about a raspy cough. By his side, a chipper young junior student looked at him through doubting hazel eyes.
"You know. Ken-ojisan did say you could stay home if you were sick Koji-nii. No-one buys your bravado crap y'know..." She commented flatly, her tone of voice most evident that she was unimpressed with the boy's lax attitude towards his obvious winter affliction. Mumbling from behind his woolly scarf, Koji rolled his eyes
"I know... I said it'd be on my head if it got worse." Kojiro reminded with gravelly tones sniffing once again. He had been struck with the Wintry Mage's cold spell, and his senses were paying the price. Cold shivers, painful nose and throat. Diminished sense of smell and taste. He recalled how bland even a spicy helping of yakisoba bread was at lunchtime.
They continued trudging through the snow downtown in silence, as the growing traffic of post-school and post-work grew into a tide of metal and a cacophony of horns and hubbub.
"So spill." Shou declared suddenly.
"So spill what?" Questioned Koji confusedly. His temperament was not being done any favors by his rather unpleasant decline in general health and well being. The normal polite tone was replaced by muscusy coughs, and many used tissues, carrying his manners away, along with a multitude of germs.
"So spill the beans on who you were trying to impress with the tough guy act! Let me guess," Began Shou, playfully tapping a gloved finger to her chin, giddy anticipation on her rosy cheeks, "aha! It wasn't Fujibayashi-senpai. She's sick too. Hmm... Oh! I bet it's that Tomoyo girl you hang about with!"
Koji scrunched up his face, unable to formulate a suitable rebuttal. He merely tisked at his cousin's wild guessing.
"She's preeee~ty you know! Mothering personality I hear. Just your type. Oh, and she has a nice body, especially those big boo-"
Koji glared utter daggers at Shou, who merely held up her hands, backing away. It did little to stop her follow-through, which came quicker than a flash.
"Geez, you're so touchy. Did I hit the nail on the head?"
"Ugh... No. You're being inappropriate. Besides, since when did you take such a sudden interest in my friends?" An annoyed Koji pondered, wondering just how prying and inappropriate his diminutive relative could get.
"I'm just sayin'. I mean a guy like you, and a girl like that? I guess I jumped to conclusions... Sorry." She apologized, meekly, reinforcing it with a playful nudge to her older cousin's arm. Behind his scarf, Koji responded in kind with an amused smile.
"Apology accepted. I'm just grouchy because I'm under the weather. We're nearly at Jun's. We'll get soup."
Shou nodded approvingly, and the two family members continued through the snow and the crowd, with a warm, comfortable goal in sight.
