#Clothing styles ; Chihiro's clothing style fits the 'pastel boy' aesthetic. His favorite colors to wear are lavender or pastel pink, so those are the two colors that he wears the most. He wears some black, although not much, to balance out the pastels. Some of his typical points of fashion consists of things like over-sized sweaters and t-shirts, overalls, knee high or thigh high socks, skinny jeans, jean shorts, shirts with cute designs on them, etc. So, for example, one outfit could be an over-sized pastel sweater with a pair of black skinny jeans and sneakers, another outfit could be a pair of overalls over a cute sweater or t-shirt with thigh high socks and sneakers
#Personality ;
Chihiro is a kind person, with a soft and gentle demeanor. He has an innocence and a capacity to love that is nearly frightening in it's intensity. He can forgive and connect with and understand others on a level that makes it nearly impossible not to love and care for him in return. Most people don't even have half the innocence and faith and belief in goodness that he shows effortlessly.
Although being popular isn't exactly at the top of his priority list, Chihiro would definitely love to have more friends. Due to his shyness, he has difficulty interacting with new people and does not necessarily want to initiate interaction with them unless necessary. However, if you give him time to open up, Chihiro is a nurturing and supportive friend. He's also very caring — when someone he cares about is upset, he is usually the first one to try to help them and make them feel better.
Chihiro is a hopeless romantic, and one of his biggest dreams is getting married and living with his significant other in a fairy tale-esque cottage in the woods. He doesn't understand people who yearn for love that is tumultuous and intense. He feels like real love is gentle. Passionate in a soft, sweet way. Not fireworks and drama, but a love that’s like coming home, the breeze on a still summer day. A balm to the aches of the world.
He's very accepting of the strange quirks and idiosyncrasies of others. Unfortunately, this can manifest as ignoring Red Flags of manipulative or toxic people. His tolerating, justifying, and convincing himself that he is being accepting of others can sometimes by at the expense of his own self-care and safety. Sadly, this has caused him to have some toxic friendships in the past. Even when he knows people are abusive and cruel, he has a difficult time cutting ties with them. He doesn't like making people feel bad, no matter how awful they are, so he usually just puts up with these types of people until they decide to ditch him.
Chihiro absolutely loves nature. He finds that the world can be truly kind and beautiful if you really try to look for the purity in it — butterflies will land and stick in your hair, the smell of rain will float through your mind in the middle of the night, the water we swim in is cold and clear, the fruits we eat so sweet. This world can be so, so kind.
It makes him very upset and disheartened that people focus on the bad. He understands that bad things happen in the world and there are many things he can do nothing about. However, it will do no good to focus on the bad things that he can do nothing about it. If he does focus on the bad, he focuses on the things that have a solution. If there's no solution, he focuses on the good.
He absolutely loves animals, and he refuses to bring harm to any of them. It doesn't matter how dangerous or frightening they are. He feels immensely guilty whenever he accidentally hurts them, even if it's something very small. He could accidentally step on a cat's tail and the guilt would eat away at him for hours.
He likes insects and bugs, as well. He finds it a little bit silly that people are scared of them. Yes, they can be dangerous. But most of them aren't, and they're just so tiny and cute. It's genuinely shocking to him that people can hate bugs and feel the need to hurt them. He's the type of person to help worms back in the grass, release spiders back outside, etc. He helps the little guy's who's lives are often regarded as less than his.
Chihiro is horrible at dealing with any conflict. He cowers in fear at being yelled at or around verbal violence. He can't even deal with normal conflict. That's why he usually tries to be the peacemaker in situations. He can't deal with being yelled at, either. Someone could raise their voice just a little bit and the usual result would be tears. He is often teased and sometimes downright bullied for this.
#History ;
Born on April 15th, Chihiro is the youngest child of a couple named Michiko and Atsushi. He has an elder sister named Naomi, who is currently attending college in America. She keeps in touch as much as she can, with constant calls and tries to visit whenever is possible.
Growing up, Chihiro was never close to either of his parents. His mother was always a wonderful and kind mother, but she also never really made an effort to interact with her children unless she was helping them with a problem or doing her duties as a mother. Since she didn't interact with her kids much, Chihiro never had the chance to be close with her.
He was very frightened of his father. The man had anger issues, and was always starting arguments or fights for very minimal reasons. He often dreaded Atsushi coming home from work, as it usually meant yelling and sometimes things breaking.
Whenever Atsushi was home, Chihiro would hide in the room that he shared with Naomi. She would always try and distract him from what was going on just a few rooms down from them. She would read him stories, sing songs, etc. If it didn't work and Chihiro started crying, Naomi would scream at their parents to shut the hell up. It always ended up with her being grounded, but she continued to do it.
When Chihiro was six-years-old, his father left. He disappeared without a trace, as if he had never existed at all. He was a little bit sad because, despite the fact that Atsushi wasn't a nice person, he was still Chihiro's father. Naomi seemed perfectly fine with it, though. In fact, she seemed happy that he was gone.
At school, Chihiro didn't have many friends. He might have been impossibly kind and adorable, but he was also extremely shy and overly sensitive. These traits of his actually resulted in some bullying. Nothing serious, but it was bullying nonetheless. He tried to convince himself that it was fine and they were just playing around and teasing him.
Naomi, however, wasn't as understanding as her little brother. It didn't take long for her to notice how mean people were being. And she was mad. She straight-up said that she was going to murder them and she didn't care how much trouble she got in for it. Chihiro managed to convince her to leave them alone, except for some glares and snapping at them to "leave him alone, idiots." But this only lasted about a month. Naomi finally exploded, and beat one of the bullies so bad that he had a broke nose and she was suspended. She had gotten into a lot of trouble for that.
After that, the bullying and teasing stopped. Everybody was too scared of Naomi, and they were worried that Chihiro would run home and tell her if any of them were mean. Some people even made an effort to be friends with him, because they were worried that ignoring him would be seen as trying to be mean.
Roleplayer's Corner
#Gender ; Female
#Roleplay Experience ; I've been role-playing since I was around ten-years-old, and I'd like to think I have gotten better since then. I am not very experienced with role-playing with unfamiliar people though, as I always did it with my friends. So this will be a bit of a new experience for me!
#Experience with Clannad ; I haven't seen the anime or played the visual novel. I'm going to watch the anime someday, though. I just don't know when.
#How did you find us? ; I found it through a friend. He doesn't have an account, but he thought I might like it and showed it to me. This was actually a few months ago, but I've only just decided to make an account.
#Sample Writing ;
Luna honestly had no idea what had been going on through her head when she had decided to spend her Saturday night at a bar. She could have been doing other things. Things that were more suited towards her, like baking or taking walks. That was how she usually spent her weekends. Going to a bar was definitely not suited for an innocent, naive girl like her. So why did she decide to go?
Perhaps it was because she was an adult now, and she could legally be in a bar. Or perhaps it was because she wanted to try something different, and this was definitely different than what she was used to. Well, whatever the reason, Luna was now standing against a wall and looking around.
The bar was loud, full of hundreds of conversations told in loud voices, all of them competing with the rock music that dominates the atmosphere. Most of the people there were on the younger side, and she recognized a lot of them from her university. The smell of alcohol was overpowering, to the point of making her feel a little bit sick.
Luna looked down at her outfit, suddenly feeling very self-conscious. Everybody else looked so cool, and her cutesy and innocent outfit definitely stood out like a sore thumb. She was wearing a baby blue dress with frills on the hem and sleeves, with knee-high socks and white Mary Jane shoes. Her hair was partly tied up into pigtails with white ribbons, as usual. She bit her lip, hoping that nobody was looking at her.
Hurriedly, Luna made her way to an over-sized seat in the corner. Nobody else was around there, so it would be the perfect place for her to sit. She sat down, and sighed in relief. It was much quieter over here too, because it was away from where the music was playing.
