After posting my character application, I thought I would introduce myself, so here goes! I'm ghaskan, a 19 years old Biology major from Portugal who has no original ideas for thread titles. I've been on the interwebs (using different nicknames) for a while now, and it did not take me long to find about roleplaying as I jumped from a forum to another. Initially, I was intimidated by it, since my English was frankly terrible. I only began roleplaying myself in the game World of Warcraft. The fact that we had detailed visuals (by the era's standards ) to work with made the whole thing a lot easier for a complete newb like me. Of course, it didn't stop my first few months from being a wreck, but I had fun and in the end that's all that matters. Eventually I branched out. Over the years, I've tried forum roleplaying, some more WoW roleplaying (using not-so-legal methods this time, but the community had an incredible quality that would make many forums blush in shame, so it was worth it), and more recently Tumblr roleplaying. Unfortunately, my activity track record is far from stellar... I love roleplaying, but my lack of close roleplayer friends and my own doubts and insecurities usually lead to me to only last 1-2 months at a time. At present, if there's one thing I wish to improve as a roleplayer, it's my endurance. If I stick around, the other improvements will come for sure. I've always been a huge fan of CLANNAD, especially since it's a thing me and two of my best friends love (one of them is even translating the anime into Finnish), making it even more special for me. Not only was the anime one of the first I (seriously) watched, but I also played the VN, and I'm rewatching the anime at present. Hopefuly I'll also be able to replay the VN when it's officially released in English... But, like I was saying, this all gave me a desire to roleplay a character from the series. The choice fell upon Akio, since he is my personal favourite (though I love them all to one degree or another) and thus I ended up paying more attention to the little details surrounding him. I searched for "CLANNAD rp" on tumblr, and found a post about this forum. I was intrigued, as I haven't roleplayed on a forum in a while, and having a more selective community appealed to me, so I decided to give it a go. It feels like I might have come at a not-so-great period of the forum's history, as there doesn't appear to be a lot of activity, but I don't really mind since I'm not supposed to have that much time to roleplay. Plus, I might end up roleplaying Akio on Tumblr too anyway because there are some unique aspects that the Tumblr format allows for that I enjoy, but we'll see. Other than roleplaying, I'm your usual geek who spends too much time on the internet. I watch anime, play videogames, waste time on social media sites/forums and all that jazz, and read books by night on the side. This thread is quite long already, so let's wrap it up here. It's nice to meet you all and I hope that we can have some fun times together!

Welcome to Dango Daikazoku!! I'm one of the staff members around here. You're from Portugal?! That's cool!
I'm glad the Tumblr advertising worked, hee hee~ It's true, things are a little slow. We are just waking up from a site-wide death that lasted quite a while, so it'll take some time for our activity to restore to how it was in the past. It's people like you that help make that possible, so thank you for applying! I hope we are the forum to help extend your endurance. And if not, I'm sure we'll enjoy your presence, however long it may be.
I admit, without a Nagisa or Sanae around it might make it a bit tougher for you to get... "everyday life"-type threads. That said, I'm looking forward to your Akio. If you have any questions or need help with something, let me or one of the other staff members know. We'll try to review your application as soon as possible!
ALL OF THAT SAID...! Welcome to the family~ I hope you enjoy your stay.

Hi ghaskan! Welcome to DD! ^^ I'm Kim~
As someone majoring in Teaching English as a Second Language, let me just say your English is pretty great! Your grammar is better than some native speaker I've seen. Haha I would never have guessed it was your second language if you hadn't mentioned it! I'm very impressed. c: I wish I could be nearly as fluent in another language, especially Korean, so I could communicate with my grandmother better.
And I completely understand what you mean about lacking close role-playing friends. I've had the same experience, and in the past, I've struggled to stay committed to forums. This one here is actually the one I've been at the longest (three years, I think?), and it was precisely because I met people here and formed a connection to the place, though admittedly I have had absences and just recently came back from my longest one. I'm sure you can stick it out if you try! ^^
Clannad has a special place in the hearts of a lot of us here~ You're among friends! c: And I'm actually quite excited to see you try for Akio since we've had a lack of canons recently. I just wish we had a Nagisa or Sanae at the moment to rp with you! It has, as you noticed, been rather slow here lately, but the core community at DD has been fairly steady over the years even if the posts are not. That's why we've managed to survive so long. c: We've actually had a little bit more activity recently after a long lull, so maybe with you here now, things will pick up a little again!
Anyway, it's nice to meet you too, and we're excited to have you! I hope you enjoy it here~

It's pretty much as the others have said. While we're slower now then we have been at our peak, we've always been a pretty small site with only a handful of members around at a time. However it's because of that we all feel like Family here. We have a Skype group that we all talk in pretty regularly so it's relatively easy to truly feel like a family here. Welcome to the site and I hope you have a long and happy stay here.
Oh and I'm Vivo by the way nice, nice to meet you.

Ghaskan, welcome to Dango Daikazoku! It's a pleasure to meet you! I'm Atena, and I roleplay Fujihara Ageha, Fuukami Haruka, and Mikazuki Soichiro. Like all the others, we'd wish that you'd have a Furukawa girl to roleplay with! :( However, we have a variety of original characters and an Okazaki to stop by and bother Akio in case if you ever find yourself getting lonely. Regardless, I am more than pleased to see that the tumblr advertising has been working and hope you continue to enjoy RPing on both tumblr and on this forum!
Sure, this forum hasn't been the most active (I believe it was more active when I had first joined), but the community is close-knit and absolutely wonderful. While you can chat with most of them in the chat box on the third sidebar, there is a Skype group chat we can add you to if you'd like! We're pretty lax and don't really have activity checks so your activity doesn't matter so much as returning home whenever you can does. Thank you so much for applying! :D You and all the newer members are fresh breaths of life here so never ever forget how much you mean to us!
Nonetheless, I hope to get along with you and RP with you some time so happy roleplaying!
Love, Atena

Welcome to DD, ghaskan. I'm Paris, and play the resident obnoxious foreigner Avery Vanderbilt (though I need to remake her application). Funnily enough, I started roleplaying on Warcraft myself way back when so it's cool to come across someone who did too. A lot of it was on "private servers", if that's what you meant. Make yourself at home and remember to leave your shoes at the door!

First off, thanks everyone for the warm welcome and all the kind words! It's a pleasure to meet all of you. Sorry that I couldn't reply to everything. I tried my best to use the quote formatting to address some main points, although that made the post super long... Welcome to Dango Daikazoku!! I'm Legend, one of the staff members around here. You're from Portugal?! That's cool! I have Portuguese ancestry (it makes up about 50% of my genes) but I've never been there or learned the language. ;-; Nice to meet you, anyhow! It's a nice country and the language is beautiful (not that I'm biased or anything), so it's a shame that you're missing out on that. But hey, you've got a great gene pool to make up for it You guys should definitively advertise there more often. The community is one hell of a salad, but it's a really good place for spreading the word around thanks to reblogs (speaking of, I should reblog that post to my own blog just in case I have any follower that's been secretly wanting to RP in a forum like this ) It will be a challenge for sure, but I already came in knowing something like that would happen whether I roleplayed here or anywhere else. Thankfully Akio mingles easily enough with people to make magic happen even if the two key characters in his life are not present, although it would be awesome if a Nagisa or Sanae appeared in the future. Ahh, thank you! I try to practice my English a lot since it's my only way to experience quite a few things I enjoy (roleplaying is among them). I'm glad to hear I've reached a decent level of fluency, even though it took many years of 1337speak (I blame MMOs) and effort to get there hah. I wish you the best of luck in your quest to improve your Korean. It's not a language I ever looked much into, however, if Japanese has taught me anything, is the fact that having an unique alphabet increases the difficulty a lot <_< That's nice to hear and it has the vibe of a good omen. Here's hope! A family feel, eh? After experimenting with mostly chaotic/relatively places, that idea sounds appealing to me. The way threads are always moving at a frantic pace in tumblr (and most forums I frequented), leading people to leave me behind made burning out super easy. I'm glad I found this place. Sure, this forum hasn't been the most active (I believe it was more active when I had first joined), but the community is close-knit and absolutely wonderful. While you can chat with most of them in the chat box on the third sidebar, there is a Skype group chat we can add you to if you'd like! You and all the newer members are fresh breaths of life here so never ever forget how much you mean to us!
I'd love to be added to the Skype chat! My Skype is, unsurprisingly, ghaskan (if there happens to be a second one, which I doubt, I have a Chesnaught icon). Yeah, that's the type of server I was referring too ^^; I wasn't sure about the forum's policy on that type of thing as it's usually frowned upon to some degree or another. Unfortunately the one I went to (really high quality place) recently closed down. It's not all bad though; I brought from there plenty of OCs (and experience) that they helped me flesh out. Not like the universe's story was getting any better
