||| Avery Vanderbilt |||
face claim ; Kaere/Kaede Kimura from Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei
[/size]
#Name; Avery Vanderbilt
#Age ; 16
#Gender ; Female
#Sexuality ; Heterosexual
#D.O.B. ; February 10th, 1987
#Occupation ; Foreign Exchange Student at Hikarizaka High, heiress to her family's fortune, and "socialite"
#Year and class ; 2-B
#Height ; 5'10
#Weight ; 134 lbs. (She will lie and say she weighs 10 lbs. lighter)
#Physique ; Slightly tall, with a large, busty chest. Her legs are noticeably toned from playing tennis at home and running track. Although slender and lean, she sometimes worries about her weight, gaining a few pounds and then losing them so fluctuations do happen.
#Hair color and style ; Golden-blonde in thick, wavy strands. Her signature bangs are always kept apart and tufted to the side. There were a few times she would tie her long hair (which was past her waist in length) up into a ponytail or pigtails. Sometimes Avery would use hairbands or barrettes to pin it back but usually she wouldn't fiddle with her locks too much.
#Eye color ; Blue
#Clothing styles ; Avery preferred business-casual or "smart" clothes, i.e vests, polos, dress shirts with tie, pleated skirts, khakis and usually heeled loafers or pumps. She dressed to that which appeared like a business-school student, or varsity sorority-girl. She even owns a pair of mary-janes pumps which she swears she got autographed by one of her favorite authors. Occasionally she would wear more laid-back clothes which didn't give off the air she was trying to impress. These usually included simple blouses and tees paired with jeans or skirts. Accessories were one of her favorite items, whether it be her pearl necklace, or diamond earrings. Flashy-but-tame jewelry were preferred.
#A more thorough description ;
Avery is a 5'10 Caucasian female teenager with a palish-pink complexion, who is somewhat tall for her age of 16 years. Compared to her female peers at Hikarizaka, she is always standing above them class pictures, much to her embarrassment. Her eyes are a piercing, icy blue noted for their slanted shape which gave her face a fierce touch; it complemented her face well, which was already attractive, in a conventional manner of course. Avery's fine, blonde hair was quite thick yet voluminous and flowed down past her waist and seemed to have a force of its own. Though she took care of it, she often would not shift styles too dramatically for fear of ruining it.
Along with her height, Avery is quite toned and slim from sports she played as well as track back at school. She swears she was also a cheerleader too, but how much of this is true, is unknown. If it wasn't for her curves, Avery would be a little lanky in length, but her chest-to-hips ratio fits her well, though her chest on its own was quite heavy and large so she wasn't unproportional. Back in her home country though, she was ridiculed by other girls and objectified by boys for it, thus, her chest is a sensitive issue.
Fashion Avery enjoyed though it didn't particularly show through; Avery only seemed to wear articles of clothing on a more conservative scale (beside the short-skirts that is), attempting to impress others with a fresh and spiffy getup. Avery incorporated school-attire into her personal wardrobe to appear "clean"; the transition from school to home didn't seem to let up altogether with her.
#Personality ;
Avery is slightly stuck-up, mostly caused by her insecurity. Looking down on others ultimately made her feel better about herself and her own shortcomings. This made Avery somewhat a bully of Hikarizaka, gossiping and spreading rumors about her peers and judging them based on their appearance, wealth and other factors.
One of the biggest issues was her upbringing; a foreign barrier that made it difficult for her to adapt. Being from America, Avery is loud, opinionated, abrasive and sometimes even quite rude. Despite this, Avery did want to make friends, but had no idea how to approach the other students the right way. Screwing up was a major occurrence with the others. She was new to Japan, its customs and morals and over-all its way of life. All of it scared her, rendering her somewhat Japanophobic, and her dad, a complete opposite (Japanophile). She didn't intentionally mean to offend others' customs and living, but her blunt nature made her seem insensitive when she was only curious and attempting to adapt. She wanted to impress others and make them like her, but instead she only came off as a snob.
At home, Avery is quite lonely, making her a little bitter on the inside. Affection was hard to come by so naturally it was hard to comprehend. Avery only liked minimal contact; hugging was a no-no. It made her feel uncomfortable and she would begin to sweat awkwardly (unless it meant touching others herself; punching and throwing that is). Her mother a cutthroat feminist lawyer, Avery would often threaten to sue when she felt her rights were at stake, not fully knowing how the legal system even works. It was more for show, such as keeping her schoolwork in a briefcase. Avery generally liked to pretend she knows what she's talking about; this attracted younger students to her and she felt appreciated only then. With her wealthy lifestyle, Avery is kind of spoiled, usually because her father had no limits in what he allowed for her. This showed through when things particularly didn't go Avery's way.
She enjoys rap, hip-hop and the occasional pop music. She can be seen in public listening to her music, usually while chewing on bubblegum.
#History ;
Avery is originally from Manhattan, New York, a city in America. Her father, a plucky, positive (somewhat man-child) businessman known for his eccentricity and her mother, a cold, calculating feminist lawyer, were an odd couple so what came of their child would be anything but ordinary. While her dad spoiled her, her mother was emotionally and mentally demanding, expecting nothing of the best from her daughter; setting her up to tasks ahead for her age, only to fail. As she grew older, her mother imposed her feminist views on Avery, telling her as a woman, she doesn't need to be docile, adhering and subservient and to be loud and opinionated. Avery was frustrated with her mother deep-down but usually put her on a pedestal only because of her status in the city, and how much she affected her.
Sometime later, around the age of 14, Avery's father and mother filed for divorced, citing the usual and expected "Irreconcilable Differences". Avery was distraught; her mother had seemed to almost be expecting this, taking her things, her share of the money and leaving for a fancy apartment elsewhere in the city. Avery was angry with her father, but he promised good things were to come. The Vanderbilt fortune was owned and regulated by her father, and he said that it would only grow. Unbeknownst to her, her father's business friend from Japan had spoke of a town needing to be taken advantage of. It was small but growing, and a healthy, booming business would skyrocket business and growth. Her father already fascinated with Japanese culture, planned the move right away, bringing Avery distress and anger; she had been a cheerleader at her school, a record-setter on track and was pretty popular at her old school. Nevertheless, she wasn't about to stop them, taking her along on a lengthy flight to Hikarizaka, Japan.
Her father ordered an American-stylised home be built for the two of them, in the area with the rest of the wealthy residents. Hoping this would comfort any homesickness, Avery was put to home-schooling, learning basic skills and Japanese (which she still struggles with) for a year, until she turned 16. Now, she is expected to be integrated within the class of 2-B at the local High School. It's local status meant nothing; it was one of the more prestigious schools in the area and her father said it would be an honor. Avery only protested it would be a bore.The Roleplayer's Corner

#Sample RP ;
She had only been to Hikarizaka High School for a few days and already she felt quite isolated. She didn't know what she had done wrong; her first day she tried making contact and was being herself, wasn't she? Maybe it was the way she handed out flyers of her father's new company or her brazen attitude. She had always been taught to put herself out there, and what better way to feel more comfortable?
She stood on the street at the bottom of the hill from the High School, waiting for her butler to pick her up in the family's Lincoln Limousine. The town wasn't that big; she could walk, but she didn't want to ruin the new shoes she had bought specifically for her new school. With her arms crossed over her hefty chest, Avery glanced at a few students passing by in small groups. One or two spotted her and gave an awkward wave. Avery only stuck out her tongue before giving out a haughty laugh. They stopped for a moment before continuing and whispering to each other. Avery flushed. She was only kidding; geez, couldn't they take a joke? Or perhaps it was how she "accidentally" tripped one of the nerdiest kids she had ever seen, the other day. It wasn't HER fault; he was staring at her! Like some kind of perverted kinkster. Where she came from, staring was considered rude. ...Even if it meant reacting with more rudeness.
She opened her flip-phone, trying to get a hold of the aforementioned butler, who didn't seem to be answering. Just then, a student from her class had rushed up to her before holding out a few papers. He seemed incredibly flustered with having to approach her, and she picked up on that right away. "So, you stole my stuff to have a chance to talk to me?! That's low, you know. You could have just handed it over to the teacher or something." She flipped her hair, sending a shiver down the male student's back.
"I was just trying to help... so you wouldn't worry. I know you're new... and all."
Avery placed a hand on her hip, clutching the paper's tightly against her. They crinkled somewhat, bothering the boy who leaned over to observe her behavior. "I may not know much about this country or this school, but I can perfectly handle myself you know. And stop staring, it's gross!" He seemed downtrodden, even disappointed with himself. She felt bad momentarily, before slapping her hand hard on his back which almost sent him flying forward.
She thanked him before letting out another laugh, entering the large black vehicle which had pulled up beside the curb. He only got a short view of it before it speed off away from the school. Not knowing whether to feel proud or ashamed, the boy blushed, grimaced and sped off towards home.
