honk. It was nine o'clock in the morning, on a beautiful Sunday. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping, and the wild (but domesticated...) boar baby Botan, miniature conquistador, was running a few blocks away from the Mizunagi residence, a flustered and slightly disheveled Fujibayashi Ryou in tow.
Now, how did this slightly ridiculous and affable (though probably it was not so laughable for our gasping protagonist) situation happen to unfold? Well, first, we must consider the circumstances that lead to this event. Fujibayashi Kyou, our hapless girl's older sister, guardian, bodyguard and many more, had an errand to run. It was an hour ago, after the twins had an early breakfast, courtesy of Kyou's simply awesome cooking skills, which Ryou often envied. Of course, Kyou had entrusted the wiggling potential piece of pork to her little sister, who, though not seeing Botan for the delicious meal it actually was, was greatly suspected and shunned by the brown, round creature.
It had to do with a time when Ryou tried to give Botan a bath; she could not give him food she cooked, because they usually have enough tranquilizing power for a small animal. The pig thought it was going to become a stew, bubbles and foam notwithstanding; it must have not been very informed about hot baths. The paranoia is engraved in Botan, still, even with the likeness of Ryou to its master, and the closeness and the familiarity between the two. Hey, humans can be more illogical.
And so, after some twenty minutes of enduring the supposed danger and gizzard-wriggling fear of being with the woman who would supposedly cook him (and it would be a culinary disaster, too), Botan decided to make his great escape. Not that he knew that his master would not be so near; she had gone by motorcycle to the neighboring town. Ryou, being in her home territory, was able to stop him from sneaking out, for a while; in Grandma's place, she had her wits in a more intact condition. However, the place was Botan's home territory too, and of course there were little paths and little corners that only Botan could be familiar with.
Which brings us to this chase between Ryou and Botan, in this warm, just-right weather, on the paved street. Botan can be quite fast, even for his small body. He shuffled his stubbly legs with the grace of a... hurrying... centipede. Only with four legs, but his legs seem to be multiplying with the rapidity she was using them.
Ryou was going to need help... but she felt quite embarrassed asking for assistance to catch... a pig.

Huh? It was Sunday and it was about 8:00 AM when Takashi had been awoken by his mother. It was his day to go out to the grocery store and buy supplies. Knowing Takashi he really wasn't the one you'd ask to do something in the early morning if he didn't wake up himself. Takashi's mother Akari had been trying to wake Takashi up for sometime now. It was now 8:09 and Takashi still hasn't gotten out of the bed. Akari sighed and decided to take a drastic measure. It was really drastic actually as she flipped Takashi out of the bed and on to the floor. ''Ahh...()" Takashi moaned on the floor. Akari helped him up back on to the bed and looked at him sternly. "It's your day to go and buy the groceries Takashi" Akari stated. Takashi who was still half asleep looked at his mother with tired eyes. "Ri..Right...Mom.b..but what time is it now?" Takashi asked yawning.
The time that Takashi was told was about 8:15. It wouldn't take Takashi long to go the store and comeback due to the fact that it wasn't actually far but in the morning he was a lazy guy. In fact Takashi spends more time sleeping on weekends than anything else. It never used to be like this but after getting into all the things at school he was beat when he got home. You couldn't really blame him either. If you were in 2 clubs that demanded a lot of strength and stamina, Chased by fan girls everywhere you turn, Doing a lot of favors which involved physical labor, You'd be tired too and love to sleep knowing that you have to get up early in the morning. Doing the daily morning routine Takashi got ready and put on the usual clothes that he did on weekends. Takashi had brushed his hair today so it wasn't the usual mess that it is on the daily basis.
It was now 8:25 and Takashi was on his way towards the store. It was a nice day out and most people weren't out and about doing the regular things in town. Takashi did however bump into a few people he knew and he had a short chat and such but he was forgetting the time. It was about 8:45 now. Takashi sighed and continued on his way considering that his mom knew that people would stop and talk with her son. It was 5 minutes later when Takashi hit the store. It wasn't packed or anything like that so Takashi was able to get the things he needed with ease and cashed out the the register. It was about 9:12 now when Takashi hit the halfway mark home. He had been hearing some noises around the neighborhood but he ignored as he thought it was probably some kids playing around.
9:15 was the time when Takashi reached home and gave his mother the the stuff she asked for. Akari smiled at him and Takashi decided to go back outside for a walk or something considering how he probably couldn't go back to sleep even if he tried. It was about 9:18 exactly when Takashi stepped outside he began walking towards the end of the block and stopped there for he began to hear a loud noise. The voice sounded familiar but he couldn't make it out. Looking around at about 9:20 he could see a girl running after something but What? Takashi who was puzzled by this stood and watched to see what could possibly be going on.OOC: Takashi isn't really looking down to the ground to see Botan but up at Ryou

make way for the pork! If Takashi hadn't been able to see Botan, the sneaky, slippery pig (though if he could talk, he would probably say his skin wasn't that smooth, though he could not deny that his beautiful hair was sleek and silky), then likewise, Ryou, preoccupied, had only eyes for the fleeing minibeast.
Her mind, which would usually be concerned with proper methods and the right things to do, was currently full with how to entrap the escapist. It might not be like Ryou, but then again, she did not want to disappoint her nee-san, and she simply wished to ensure that Botan came to no harm. However, even if Ryou harbored no hatred for the scurrying pet, Botan was firm in his belief that the most dreadful harm can only come from Fujibayashi Ryou, her master's sister and hidden fiend.
So it was that Ryou's blue eyes quivered and twitched, her not-so-athletic legs frantically pushing the ground this way and that, in an effort to end the chase that the pig was desperate to end too... in a different way, Ryou quitting. Botan knew the neighborhood, though he got lost once or twice, but he assumed that he'd find his master somewhere, and then he'll be able to stay in the house again, assured of her protection, even if the clutches of the evil twin were near. The pig got to the boy's feet, went easily around them, not even eliciting a touch or a brush.
However, if Botan easily avoided the inattentive male, Ryou wasn't as lucky. Like a meteor suddenly realizing that it had a planet in its way, Ryou was thoroughly taken by surprise.
It was quite impossible to avoid. Unless, of course, Takashi had awesome ninja skills, or the legendary Sakagami Tomoyo's kicks... but then, it would be his bane to even put his toe in offense of Ryou, once Fujibayashi Kyou was back. Ryou was in a total collision course, and blushing furiously at the impending danger of contact, she could only utter a squeak.
"Wah~!"
Botan's prayers were answered; a handy distraction had come.

Didn't see that coming! Takashi who seen the girl running towards him was ready to step out of the way. Takashi then noticed the figure that was running down the street. It was Fujibayashi Ryou which he had know from school. They were in the same class and to Takashi she seemed like a nice girl. Though he has heard about her fortune telling but always declined politely. One of these days he'll probably see what she might as to say about that but currently it really seemed that she was chasing after something or just got for a morning run. The second thought had seemed unlikely and Takashi looked behind him to see if there was anyone. Nothing but an animal that seemed to be a boar running pass him. 'Huh?' Takashi thought.
The boy had not been paying any attention to Ryou and as he turned back around Ryou was on a collision course with the rookie. There was only one thing to do so they both wouldn't feel a lot of pain. As she made contact with Takashi he made sure to wrap his arms around her as if he was giving her a hug and fell to the floor hard. Takashi used his body to cushion Ryou's fall. It was after all the nicest thing he could do considering he was used to taking hits due to his martial arts training. On the plus side it would be kind of pathetic to be a Black Belt and cant take a hit or two. While Takashi was on the floor he had let Ryou go so it wouldn't seemed like it was something else."Are...You okay?" Takashi said blushing with his eyes closed. It wasn't often that things like this happened to Takashi.

shlump~ She collided. It was not like she could do anything about it. Just as much as Takashi could only accept and react to the fact that she would slam into him, in the same way, Ryou had lost balance and control of her movement. She didn't know exactly why. Maybe she simply was going too fast, in a speed that her untrained legs and knees and feet couldn't handle; maybe she tripped midway through; she wasn't even sure. The only thing she could do was close her eyes, as her small head hit her classmate's chest, and her quarry, the mischievous Botan, had darted out who knows where, effectively cutting off whatever chance she had of outrunning him.
Then again, her dilemma had many different layers other than that, the main reason why she had come running uncharacteristically at so early an hour of the day. Perhaps, in some western society, it wouldn't be much of a big deal, touching and crashing unto each other, though greetings usually don't involve that sort of ruckus. This was Japan, and Ryou was a Japanese girl, and Ryou was even considered shy among Japanese girls. Even with her vision shut off, her other senses were, unfortunately, still working. Her ears, her nose... agh, she could tell he was hugging her, but she didn't exactly know how to react to this squeamish situation. He had broken the fall, she realized; but that didn't lessen much of her embarrassment. Ryou, even if embarrassment wasn't something new to her, it had a way of making itself quite very new... almost all the time. She was still, unwilling to move, petrified like a log. Unfortunately, again, she was still quite conscious.
This was probably quite the scene. Ryou still did not know who it was she tumbled onto, only that she knew it was a boy. She squirmed the slightest bit; she hoped she did not inconvenience this stranger... hopefully it wasn't someone she knew! It was a gentle voice that asked her if she was all right.
"Ye-yes." she managed to squeak out. She stayed in her awkward position, finding it awkward to extricate herself.

Akward times Ta ghed as he opened his eyes looking towards the sky. "It's good that your alright class rep." Takashi said. They were still in an akward position and Takashi couldn't actually get up because if he did he'd be pushing Ryou off of him which would be rude and he didn't want to do that. "But Ryou it would be cool if you could get off of me so no one thinks that we might doing something else" Takashi stated. It wasn't as if Takashi didn't like having girls around him but because it was Ryou he got this gut wrenching feeling. Takashi's class rep was the twin sister of Kyou Fujibayashi and that mean't trouble. Takashi has seen what that girl could do with a heavy book and it was deadly. Most of the time Sunohara and other times it was Okazaki. Takashi had no idea why they were always targeted but all he hoped was that he wasn't next. To be honest Takashi hasn't talked to Ryou a lot while they were at school. They had Hi's and Bye's and other things but this was probably the first actual non school related conversation they've had. Not only that but when asked by a friend about who he would date in the school he actually included Ryou in the list..actually she was 2nd choice just to be exact. OOC: School post

standard retreat Class rep?
She didn't even wait to hear his completed statement, his calling of her name, his request of her getting off of him. Face flushed, eyes closed, and with great difficulty, the younger Fujibayashi twin slowly, carefully tried to find her footing, failing a little bit but not falling again, and then succeeding. She slowly distanced herself; it was a meter at the worse, before she completely opened her eyes. She knew all her classmates, since her duties as class representative accomodated having her at least acquaintances with each of them... and most were okay to deal with, perhaps because of the consistent threat of her older sister sending a book onto their craniums. So she should know who it was once she opened her eyes.
She did.
It was Satoshi Takashi. She didn't know what he could be doing here, since she didn't even know if their houses were close or anything, but given that he was studying in their school, his house had to be somewhere in the vicinity. Now, what did she remember about him? He had fangirls. Yes, rabid fangirls, and Kyou-neesan wasn't around here to protect her from their venomous teeth. Eep. He was a nice guy, run-of-the-mill, so he would understand that this was all an accident. Right? Right. So why is my face really hot?
"I-I'm sorry!" she sputtered out, bowing low. She felt really awkward, more than usual. Maybe because it was a boy. Then again, if she could not handle boys, could she even get close to Okazaki-san? She trembled a bit at the thought, and then remembered what the problem was, in the first place. "I-I'm sorry! Please excuse me! I have to get that boar-let..." Upon remembering, Iincho-san tottered off, moving past the probably still surprised Takashi, even if she probably wouldn't be able to find Botan's trail right now, with the amount of headstart the creature had gotten. She did not mean to dismiss the boy so swiftly, but the matter was pressing...

Wait Up! Takashi sighed and decided that he would do the only thing he could possibly do at a time like this. He already felt guilty about what had just happen so the thought of helping Ryou out would be a good idea but first things first he would have to get up. Considering his body strength it took Takashi only one try to get up without stumbling or anything of that nature. Taking a deep breath Takashi turned around and began to run after Ryou. You could say that another force from another world was driving him to do this but either way he felt obligated to help Ryou out. Obligations were one things that Takashi liked to fulfill. "Ryou..Let me help you look for what your looking for" Takashi yelled. Considering his athletic build Takashi had caught up with the girl quickly without even breaking a sweat or breathing heavily. "Helping you out is the least I could do for all the trouble I've already caused..T-That is if you dont mind." Takashi said looking at Ryou in the eyes. One thing that Takashi always did to most girls were to look them in their eyes so he could tell how they felt through body language.

brakes, brakes Ryou halted to a stop, mind, frazzled, mode, panicky. Even though she said that she had to be off to find the stray pet, she did not have much of an idea where she should go, where her quarry could have gone. The road branched off in opposite directions, and since there had been enough taken time when she slammed into Satoshi-san, the boar-let could have scampered in any of the two paths. The little creature almost seemed to be able to outrun her even if she just paused for breath. She really wasn't built for running, well, maybe that wasn't true, but she hadn't practiced either, so there was no knowing. It wasn't really her thing, chasing runaway critters.
It was then that Satoshi-san catched up with her. It was obvious, since Satoshi-san was very athletic, or so she heard... he was even in the club that Okazaki-kun got booted out... the basketball team. She shook thoughts of her contact with Satoshi-san's body from her head; she wondered if Satoshi-san would know about Okazaki-kun. Still, she shouldn't keep getting distracted; there was something to be done. Satoshi-san had offered to help her... having ended her short, not-so-impressive sprint, she panted, before she even organized her thoughts to formulate an answer for him.
"...thank you." she said, finally, implying that he could help. Satoshi-san seemed a nice enough guy, unlike Okazaki-san... not that Okazaki-san was bad, he just had... problems, maybe. She wondered what the cards would say if she asked them about this choice here. She should make her choices, she reminded herself. Stopping had made her realize just how far she had been running. She wiped the sweat from her brow. She wondered where she should start. "Please... I don't know where that pig had gone."

A fork in the road Takashi nodded and began to think on were a boar would hide. Though it was an odd thought because it was odd for someone to even have a pet boar but then again anything is possible. Noticing the the split paths in the road Takashi had an idea on how to decrease the search time if that was possible. The only problem was that it would be a drastic measure but he wanted to help Ryou out in anyway possible. "Well then I guess we should split up to find your pet..ummm...pig but first I'm just going to call someone to help." Takashi said. He had dugged into his pocket and began to text someone. It would be weird for someone to be texting in this kind of situation but Takashi was doing it anyway. He hoped Ryou didn't see him as an inconsiderate person for doing so even though it was to help her. Within a few minutes Takashi's sister Hitomi had ran around the corner. "Well for once my brother needs my help...Though this isn't really much of help to him but more to his girl." Hitomi said. Takashi sighed and looked towards Hitomi. "Well Hitomi depending on what Fujibayashi decides one of us should go with her and the other should take the next path" Takashi said. The real reason why Takashi even proposed this idea was to keep a faster pace on the search. The 2 girls wouldn't slow him down but if he was by himself he could probably look around faster.

split. As Ryou straightened herself up, she found her companion dialing about a cellphone. She remembered how she could have contacted her sister... surely, she was more adept at catching Botan, and she probably knew where the pig would go, and most importantly, the mammal wouldn't have run from her in the first place, since it was Fujibayashi Kyou and not Fujibayashi Ryou who was the furry round thing's master. Then again, it was her responsibility; she was the one left at home, and Grandma probably shouldn't be bothered about catching a pig... never mind the fact that she was already asking for help from a simple acquaintance that she didn't really know that closely. Well, it was he who offered to help her...
After a little while, although it seemed so long since she was thinking about how much distance the little pig had already covered, a girl came. Satoshi-san addressed the girl as Hitomi; she wondered what the girl's relation to Satoshi-san was. Hitomi sounded like a first name, and he used no honorifics, so they were probably close. A sister, a former classmate? Well, she probably didn't have the time and the leisure to inquire.
"Um... you decide who I'm going with, Satoshi-san..." She didn't like... deciding... things. OC: Sorry for the shortness, again! X.X

Off We GO! Hitomi looked a Ryou then looked towards her brother Takashi who was looking at Ryou as she asked him to decide. The boy was about to speak when Hitomi blurted out ''I say that Oni-San should go with you and I should go the other way.'' Hitomi said already walking to one side. Hitomi winked at Takashi before running off looking for Botan. Once again Takashi and Ryou were alone with each other. Honestly Takashi liked it that way, It would be less of a hassle for Hitomi to be gone since she seemed to be playing the female devil in his life. The boy sighed and then began to walk on the opposite side that Hitomi did. "We should get going Ryou-chan, We've wasted enough time with my sister already and that pet of yours is probably hiding somewhere down there." Takashi said. Although he did not get a good look at where Botan went he probably had a good idea of where that pig could of gone. Takashi knew the neighborhood pretty well since he had been here since he could remember.
Takashi had began to walk and most likely Ryou was behind him. He began to look around a few bushes that contained small edible berries. Takashi remembered one time he and Hitomi had a competition of who could eat the most berries from here and they both had gotten sick from that. They were only kids then and they actually didn't know any better even if Takashi was the older sibling.
"So we should check places like this to see if..umm..I didn't quite catch your pet's name." Takashi said. All this time and Takashi didn't even know Botan's name. He hadn't told Hitomi either but that girl always had sources so she would find out somehow but it would be safe to text her the name just in case. Takashi at the time had been bent down looking towards Ryou but he was looking her directly into her eyes. One thing that seemed to be a habit with Takashi was looking everybody directly into their eyes to see how they might of felt during the time. The boy was an expert with body language.

fingers crossed~ Fujibayashi Ryou watched the interaction between siblings. The one called Hitomi had called Satoshi-san 'oniisan', so the girl assumed that they were brother and sister, or something quite close. Like a tamed animal, Ryou trailed after Satoshi-san. She felt a little helpless; she was always a little like this, in certain occasions, and even though her sister's methods of getting her from scrapes were sometimes a little violent, she appreciated the fact that her sister was pulling her out. This time, however, it was a different person who had done so. She wondered why Satoshi-san was doing all this for her, but her lips remained tight, and the questions remained, swimming in her mind. Hitomi had gone before she had managed to start speaking.
"Um... Satoshi-san... would your... your sister know how... my pet... my sister's pet... erm... looks like?" she finally asked, although it wasn't exactly the primary question in her mind right now. She was more or less befuddled; Botan running away, she running after, she running into Satoshi-san... it felt like a huge mess to the easily-shaken, organized Ryou. She even wondered if Satoshi knew exactly what they were looking for; had he been able to get a good glimpse of the pig that seemed ready to overtake that bird that fled the coyote in American cartoons? It was a little bothering. Sure, she was thankful for them offering help, but her methodical mind wanted to make sure the process was okay and intact.
"The... the pig's name is Botan." she mumbled, in response to the boy's question. She shifted a bit. Satoshi-san seemed to tend to look at her eyes a lot, and it felt just a little embarrassing. Well, they say that those who avoid your gaze were people to be distrusted, but Ryou couldn't help it. She just had to avoid gazes like that! They felt like... erm... she wasn't able to come up with a decent simile. They just... felt... embarrassing! However, she couldn't bear to tell it to Satoshi-san, who had been so kind to help her... he didn't seem to be getting anything in return, and he probably knew that if he tried, Fujibayashi Kyou would eventually find out... "Actually... it's... nee-chan's pig. Pet... wild pig. Little boar." Truly, she was quite flustered. Ugh. How was she going to find Botan this way, anyway? She twiddled her fingers without realizing she was doing so.

Follow the Leader Takashi looked at Ryou still looking at her eyes. She seemed a slightly confused to him but he could understand why but that wasn't important right now. "No but she knows that we're looking a pet pig which can't be hard to find right?" Takashi said. If you noticed you could see the look of worry on his face but the smile he had was there to mask it. Why was he even trying so hard to help Ryou out anyway? She was quite capable on her own right? Then again it was his fault that Botan got away from her so he was obligated. Maybe it was something more than that but Takashi began to think about the matter that was at hand which was finding that pig!
After hearing that the pig's name was Botan Takashi couldn't help but chuckle a bit before standing up. "That's a funny name but it's cool at the same time and it sounds like it matches that wild boar." Takashi said. Looking around Takashi began to get more ideas that seemed right and Botan couldn't have gotten so far. From the time that passed the Rookie estimated that Botan would have gotten maybe 2 or 3 blocks from where they are. There was another fruit bush like this about 3 blocks up from where they were which would be a good guess for a boar who was on the run. After all if you were running from someone who you thought was going to eat you wouldn't you want to get a hiding spot where you could eat?
Takashi had stopped looking Ryou in the eyes for a reason and had walked over to her and grabbed her right hand with his left hand and dragged Ryou in front of him. "First dont get the wrong idea about that...I have enough problems already with things getting tossed at me, and you should lead the way since it's your sisters pet, You'll have a better idea than I would but i get a feeling that Botan might have stopped to get a bite at the next bush 3 blocks from here." Takashi said. That wasn't a smooth move but hey he did what he had to and if it meant at the end of all this that Kyou might throw a book at him he really didn't mind since he could just grab the book anyway. As long as Ryou got Botan back to safety that's all that really mattered.

flusters They continued their search. Botan might be quick, but definitely, Ryou had just a teensy-weensy advantage over the round critter in... stamina. Sooner or later, Botan would have to stop. That idea was reassuring. Satoshi-san seemed a little worried, and she said nothing, although she returned his smiles.
She couldn't immediately agree that Botan was easy to find, but she hoped it would be easy to find for this boy who had so graciously volunteered to help her. Botan had ways of escaping, and then getting himself very conveniently lost that it would take a day or two for him to find his way back to the Fujibayashis. She wondered if she was weighing down the pace of her classmate; maybe he could traverse as much distance as Botan had if he would run.
Still, Botan wouldn't waste his time running about. He would focus on being obscure, rather than traversing as much distance as possible. So, what Satoshi-san was doing was probably a good idea.
Still, she wondered if the fruit bushes along the path were okay to check. Obviously, since they were in the neighborhood, they belonged to somebody, and she did not want an angry neighbor bothering her grandmother later. Quelling her fears, she joined Satoshi in his search. She might not be very good in scrambling about the bushes, and she pricked herself once or twice, but doing something was better than doing nothing. She was the one being helped, after all.
It was then that abruptly Satoshi-san took her hand. It seemed he was done with his inspections. Satoshi-san stated his guess, his assumption, and he also commented on not misunderstanding the gesture. She nodded, tamely, as if she was the tame pig. She looked a little hurt, but that slightly pained expression was banished from her facade a moment later. She felt a little tempted to say that if she was being yet another problem, he could go, but she could not find the will in her to say it. After all, even if the words stung, even if he was being slightly harsh, he was still in the process of helping her. She nodded, again, and this time she lead the way, as he had requested of her.
As if on cue, Botan popped up ahead from a bush, assorted berries and leaves strung about its snout. I don't know about those berries, but it looked a bit like Botan was tipsy. However, it did not seem that he was tipsy enough not to notice that his pursuer had caught up, and that he had accidentally left his hiding place. He grunted, munching on a berry, and then, quite unexpectedly, rushed, full throttle, in the direction of Ryou and Satoshi-san. Just what was the pig aiming to do?
Eep. PIG MISSILE!
