Ataru fitfully looked around the apartment. Though the lights were off he was used to living in at least semi-darkness... Rather than rely on his eyes he enjoyed encouraging his sense of hearing, so most of the time he left the lights off. On an impulse he lashed out with one hand and snapped on one of the light switches, wincing a little when the light came on. He then returned his hands to his pockets, looking around uncertainly.
The apartment was clean; cleaning was one of the things Ataru did when he wanted some thinking time to let the music brew and distill in his head. It was clean but empty. Ataru had already moved most everything into his own room so that his cousin wouldn't have to deal with instruments and music books scattered everywhere.
Would it be alright? He shrugged his shoulders uncomfortably. He hadn't interacted directly with anyone almost since he had left his parents' house. Almost all of his contact with his cousin had been through letters; a medium that allowed for careful thought before writing. Would he even be able to hold a normal conversation? How should he even act with his cousin? Through their letters they had become very close, but could he just naturally treat his cousin as a family member as soon as he walked in the door? Or would he prefer that Ataru keep his distance at least for a little bit?
Or maybe it was Ataru who wanted distance... No, he had wanted this! He wouldn't be alone anymore... but would he really be up to it?
He tried to take a deep breath but it felt more like gasping for air. He placed one hand against the wall and caught his breath. He then shook his head to clear it. He wanted his cousin to be happy; he would just concentrate on making sure his cousin could settle in and relax and leave it at that. No need to force things and risk an awkward situation.
Now he just had to wait for his cousin to arrive.
