“Um, it’s an invitation as sorts. I was hoping that people would be so inspired by the adorableness of the starfish and, their hearts melted by it’s warmness, would come to the wedding. Though it sounds like you don’t need such a gift, so please keep it as, uhm, payment as for the bandages and paint supplies.”
So the cute little hand crafted starfish weren’t something she had any intentions of giving to others as a confession of true love. Instead, Fuko was using these starfish as some time of barter tool, or maybe handcrafted invites. It was a very novel idea. Every time a person looked at that starfish Fuko carefully chiseled away from a piece of wood, they would be reminded of the promise they made to her. It was better than the date alarm feature on a cell phone. Well, Yukine would have set a date on the alarm on her phone if the energetic First Year had told her one. While the starfish was cute and memorable, she wanted to make sure she never forgot. Her cell phone always kept her on track. Those little handheld devices really were amazing. She had seen her father use a phone to pay for dinner. It wasn’t something unusual, but it just proved how valuable a cell phone was.
”I’ll make sure to keep it close, always then. Thank you so much for the adorable starfish that melts a heart by its warmness,” Yukine said a bit mockingly. That surely was a mouthful. The young girl really put a lot of hope into the starfish if she thought that much. Yukine wouldn’t protest its cuteness, but to melt a heart? The gesture was more likely to melt a person’s heart rather than the little wooden carving. But it would be much too mean to say that to the little girl. She put way too much stock into the starfish design for Yukine to try to contradict. Hopefully the young girl wouldn’t meet a rude senior. They might try to dash all of cute little Fuko’s hopes and dreams. Older boys could be so cruel sometimes. Maybe she should warn Fuko about them; but it was somewhat impossible since Yukine wasn’t familiar with the senior population. Based on rumors, there was a scary Third Year that was really bossy. And then there was Ichinose Kotomi, the school’s genius. Other than that, Yukine hadn’t heard any other rumor about any other student.
“I hope that happens. If boys break down under such immense cuteness like that, I’m sure they’ll attend the wedding.”
”They will break down under cuteness alright…” Yukine agreed with a smile. The two weren’t talking about the same type of cuteness, but the girl still wanted to be encouraging. Fuko was going to win the heart of a boy by giving him that starfish. It was ashamed that the gift wasn’t a true symbol of the heart, but a tool of empathy. There were going to be some very disappointed boys roaming around Hikarizaka High School. It was a bit sad, but hopefully things wouldn’t end too badly. Oh! But she didn’t really have time to worry about boys and their feelings. Lunch time was over! Yukine needed to get to class as well as the other girl. But it seemed Fuko already realized the time, or so Yukine thought. The blonde girl quickly shot out of her chair and moved towards the door in a similar manner before Fuko froze.
“Don’t fret as Fuka will return, with more starfish to paint and improve their adorableness to epic proportions.”
”Eh?” Yukine moaned completely confused. Didn’t little Fuko realize lunch was over? She could work on creating heartfelt gifts for other students after class. At the moment, they both needed to worry off to class so they could avoid detention and things like that. ”But Fuko chan we…” she started. Unfortunately, Yukine was too late. The dark haired bright eyed girl had already run off. Yukine sighed. Part of her wanted to chase after the girl to make sure she went to class, but she was going to be late if she didn’t hurry off to her own class. Fuko was just too excitable and too determined. She was going to make a lovely housewife for someone since she would make sure her husband was always happy with such enthusiasm. It was too bad she didn’t need that kind of determination for after school activities; at least, she didn’t need it during school hours.
”…have to get to class…”
Yukine sighed as she flipped off the lights of the Reference Room then shut the door tightly. Her blue eyes looked down the hallway Fuko had disappeared down. She was just too fast. The girl literally disappeared. The blonde stood there frowned for a moment before turning away and going down the opposite end. She had no choice; she had to return to class. Hopefully nothing bad would happen in her absence. For some reason, she could imagine Fuko getting very carried away with her imagination. But it couldn’t be helped. This was school, and class always had to come first.
