May 8th, 2003; 3:18 PM. Nagisa's fingers gently grasp upon the handle to the door, giving it a small tug to slide it open and allow some of the light radiating from the windows behind her to pour into the dusty and dark room. It seems to have been abandoned for quite some time.. or at least untouched in her absence since her last visit here. She take a moment to peer around and adjust to the dim environment as the blinds had been drawn over the windows.
She placed her hands down in front of her, clutching the small bag in the usual manner she used whenever it was on her person. Seeing no one else within she stepped inside, gently sliding the shut behind her once more as she toddled over to a desk placed carefully within the center of the room. Why did this place always seem so.. depressing? Void of life entirely, not even anything left behind as evidence that humans had ever even walked the earth in this particular room. But it wasn't always that way, even in its darkest hour she was positive she could bring some good and fond memories to pass during her time occupying the small room, and hopefully soon it'd be with friends as well.
Oh, she was being so melodramatic again, but that was her goal wasn't it? To learn more about drama? Of course she knew there was a different between the sort of acting you see on the stage and the kind in the hallways, or.. was there? Was she getting it wrong this whole time? Was there truly no difference between what people could professionally preform and just gossip about to one another over the silliest of things. No, that couldn't be right, Drama was meant to be an expression of one's self and creativity, it was suppose to be beautiful, not spiteful and meaningless.
She was surely thinking a lot today for some odd reason, she usually didn't partake in anything so negative and tried her best to get out of it. She shakes her head softly and a small smile comes to form upon her features once more as she calms and settles the thoughts within her head. There were more important things to think about, and other things to tend to now, she had no time to waste! After all, if she wanted to have a presentable image for the club she needed to get to work on establishing just what she wanted to do.
She only wished others could share the same love and ideal, yet here she was alone.. of course it wasn't all a hopeless cause, she'd received some help along the way, but she was nowhere near reviving the club as she'd intended to. She hadn't called a meeting or anything today, she hadn't even told anyone where she was going nor' did she have any intentions to. It was strange to her, but she just felt.. drawn, to the room, like there was some important reason or some unwritten event that would take place and her attendance was mandatory.
Of course she'd had a lot of weird feelings before, not to mention her recent illness had kept her away for a few days just as it had in the past. She still felt a bit weary and weak, though when has strength and rejuvenation ever been something she felt course through her veins? Oh.. she remembered though, happiness, that's what made her feel better and what gave her courage. The happiness of finally making some friends, of possibly discovering more members for the club, and the thought of her goal not being as far out of reach as she thought it would be.
Nagisa shook her head a little once more and placed her bag down upon the desk, slowly sliding into the seat and looking around a bit. A small sigh slowly surpassed her lips, drifting upward into the air before fading into nothingness as if it'd never occurred at all. It was rather lonely here to say the least, but even in loneliness she could find some good and prosperity. Her attention turned over to the tattered blinds drawn across the window panes, she got up and moved over, dipping a hand forward between a pair and brushing one to the side to tie it securely at its place and repeating the process with the other.
She did this for the row of windows into the room, allowing the sunlight to glimmer off of the glass and small specs of dust here and there. The room was generally a mess to say the least, most everything had been scattered around and not very well-organized, but she had time to fix all of that. She got to work, beginning to carefully neaten and straighten the pile of cardboard boxes in the back, making sure they were stacked properly and securely to avoid falling and damaging their contents.
Of course she was rather curious as to what was inside them all.. but she would save discovery for later in the day if at all. She dragged a couple of the desks laying about toward the back as well, placing them facing one another in a pattern that allowed them to fit snugly without taking up too much room. The sound of the circular metal pads on the bottom of the seat's legs dragging across the floor gave a sort of eerie and low screech. She dreaded the noise to be honest but it was a small sacrifice.
The sound continued to ring out as desk after desk was placed back against the wall until everything was as it was before. Had someone been here while she was gone? Last she remembered no more than a desk or two was pulled out.. maybe someone had been searching for something though, she was unaware and unknowing. She returns to her seat and lets herself sink down into her previous spot. The whole process took up maybe five minutes or so?
She was left with nothing to do once more, alone with her and her lack of company.. it was nothing unfamiliar but at times it grew very troublesome for her, she missed having people around that she knew, people to talk to and spend time with everyday. After some time she sort of grew to accept the loneliness, only because she wasn't sure if she'd be able to get past it and make more friends again. She'd deeply missed the ones she had the year before, but there was still many good people in this school, many who she'd be very happy to at least be acquaintances with. Ah, she remembered the perfect remedy to her small fits of worrying. She let out a small breath and began to murmur softly to herself.
"Dango, dango, dango, dango, dango, dango, Daikazoku.."
Eventually her voice began to retain its usual volume as she summoned the courage to sing louder, finding that no one was really around to judge her for it, and she didn't possess a reason not to cheer herself up with the familiar song.
"Dango, dango, dango, dango, dango, Daikazoku.."
A smile made its way onto her features as already her spirits began to brighten at the meaning held behind something so simple and cute. Others would consider it stupid or unpopular, but she never had a fondness for it just because of the trend, she loved it for all that it was and all that it meant. She agreed that everyone could just be one big family..
"Yan-cha na yaki da-n-go yasashii a-n da-n-go.. sukoshi yu-me-mi-ga-chi na tsukimi da-n-go."
Her eyes slowly drifted shut as she calmed herself in the uninterrupted event, and personally she didn't know if anyone else could hear her, but she was perfectly content with just herself at the moment. Maybe her words would reach someone who needed them? Maybe the calming power of love would aide someone in the distance without her knowing? Or maybe she was just singing her silly song again, whatever the case may be, she continued on.
"Osuma-shi go-ma da-n-go yotsugo ku-shi da-n-go."
"Minna minna a-wa-se-te hyaku nin ka-zo-ku.."
"Akachan dan-go ha itsumo shiawase no naka de, toshiyori dan-go ha me wo hoso-mete-ru.."
She could fear her heart flutter and her spirits lift upward as her hands clasp together gently, her figure rocking slowly from side to side in a small fit of peace and bliss, harmony acting as her invigorating motivation to continue on.
"Nakayoshi dango te wo tsunagi oo-kina marui wa ni naru yo."
"Machi wo tsuku-ri dango boshi no ue minna de wara-iau yo."
"Usagi mo so-ra de te wo futtemiteru dekkai otsukisama."
"Ureshii koto kana-shii koto mo zen-bu marumete.."

He lazily walked down the halls of the old school building as he made his way towards the stairs at the end of the hallway - but just what was he doing here exactly? The answer to that was simple, to visit the drama club room of course, but the implicit question that came with such an answer had to be more complex...why? The reasons he had used in the past were sufficient for most - but to the prying sense of curiosity, would it suffice? He certainly had a lot of time on his hands, and the chance run-ins with her had certainly played a factor...but why her? Why now? Why not the thousands of other people who had problems on their hands and required assistance? Why not help them? To put it simply - he hadn't met those thousands of other people, and even if he had they would likely not welcome his help - that of a delinquent. To him, the answer was simple - he had a lot of time on his hands, so much so that he was often at a loss as to what to do with it, and she had nobody else to turn to...save for him. So he decided to help her out, what was so complicated about that? If one were to ponder if the situation was truly so simple, and to wonder if he were not simply hiding these reasons behind his true intentions, one should simply keep ones thoughts to themselves and allow the events to simply play out on reveal thoughts and intentions at there own pace.
He arduously climbed the stairs, (for just about anything constituted as hard work for him)shifting his thoughts from whatever happened to be distracting him, to what was in store for him when he entered the room at the end of the hall. The next step was recruitment, followed by becoming an official club, and then eventually resulting in performing a drama...but by then he would be long gone - he had only promised to stick around until the club was formed after all. He could still remember how her face fell when he broke the news to her, almost regretting the words just as he had spoken them...but on this he was firm - he had dealt with clubs in the past, he wasn't about to do so again anytime soon, especially when he was hardly interested in the subject matter. Besides...it was likely she wouldn't require his assistance anyway, they had already passed the word on to a few others, and the mere fact that they were seriously considering it meant that there were more then a few students at the school who were interested in drama...who knows, with any luck the drama club would be revived to it's former glory once again...and he would be the one to do it. He couldn't help but take pleasure in the sentiment, no matter how unbecoming it was of him.
He paused when he heard a familiar voice singing a familiar tune...a nostalgic tune that he could swear he heard just a few days before. He faintly heard the lyrics as the tune rose and dip in pitch, when sudden realization hit him. He quickened his pace, as he realized the implications, and paused outside the door, allowing the song to run its course without interruption. If only she had the same confidence for drama...or for that matter, being the president of the club. But he couldn't blame her for her shortcomings - all of her friends had moved on and she had been left behind...a fact well known among her new peers. For a girl as shy as her, being the only one of her class still around, even he had to admire her drive. Where did it come from?
He ended his stream of thought, let out a small sigh as the song came to an end, and took a fraction of a moment to come up with a witty line as he slid the door aside, exclaiming - with no doubt as to who was in the room
"Is singing Dango Daikazoku part of the play? Or were you just practicing for your welcome speech?"

"Is singing Dango Daikazoku part of the play? Or were you just practicing for your welcome speech?" "Aaah!!"Nagisa squealed and flailed her arms a bit from the sudden shock of the other speaking, she hadn't heard him approach the room let alone open the door and observe her. It didn't take very long until she quickly became flustered upon the thought of the other having stood and watched the entire time while she sang. Though she was very proud of her fondness for her song, she knew the other didn't really approve and the concern of him having something else to tease her about only made matters worse. She thought of a reply to his question quickly, trying her best to avoid further embarrassment."O-oh, uhm.. no not really, I just felt like singing again." She said, looking away for a moment. A smile formed upon her features as she gazed up at the man standing in the doorway, her eyes looking him over for a moment and rather enjoying recognizing his usual appearance and somewhat tired expression. She readjusted her position in the chair and finally spoke to him calmly then, regaining her composure. "It's good to see you again Okazaki, I was starting to worry maybe you'd gotten bored with me being gone for so long. But nope! You're just as trustworthy as I had hoped." She couldn't help but giggle briefly at the end of her sentence, pushing herself out of the desk and standing up straight. She decided it may be best for the other to have somewhere to sit, she didn't believe anyone really enjoyed standing all day. She gripped onto one of the desks and tugged it back over near her own."Has anything changed since I was gone? Did anyone else show any interest in joining the club?.. O-or anything like that?" She sounded fairly eager, maybe even a bit more so than usual, but things we're progressing along quite a lot better than she expected. A few people had mentioned interest, not to mention she had Tomoya to help her out which would surely make things easier, even though she believed at times he could be a bit too careless."Oooor were you skipping classes again to avoid people?"She allowed her smile to turn into a full on grin then as she teased him. She figured since the boy found a bit of enjoyment in the ritual of teasing others so often he'd be able to handle something so small and simple as well. She wasn't one to usually tease but she figured maybe it'd allow them to have some bit of a better connection, after all it was nice having a friend, but she wasn't too good at getting through to him at times."Heehee, I'm just kidding though obviously.. sorry I wasn't able to be around the last few days.."

He couldn't help but smirk to himself at her priceless reaction - he had expected her to be surprised...but what he and received instead was much better then what he could have ever expected. Closing the door behind him, he moved towards an empty desk near the corner of the room, raising an eyebrow in her direction as she attempted to rebuff his question.
"Oh? And how would you pull that off?"
Rather then genuinely curious, he had simply responded for the sake of responding - or in other words, he didn't expect a reply to the question. As he settled himself down in the desk, putting the bag on the ground beside him, he heard her actual greeting, responding in kind
"As if that would happen..."though I wouldn't so far as to say "trustworthy".
His elbow was propped up on the desk as the side of his head rested on his hand, his eyes staring at nothing in particular, an unreadable expression plastered all over his face. It wasn't so much that he viewed himself as untrustworthy, but that he didn't deserve the praise - simply visiting the drama club room everyday qualified as being trustworthy? If it was her, he could understand...but he still couldn't help but feel she put too much faith in people.
With the next question he simply shrugged and shook his head, answering honestly
"Not much has changed since you were absent. As for club members...well we'll see."
He had a hunch that something interesting was about to occur in the room that day - he had no idea of the nature of it all, but the song she had been singing so loudly just moments ago would likely not go unnoticed by the students around him.
"Huh?"
He exclaimed as he looked up at her now for the first time, his eyes taking in her small and lithe form, shocked at what she had said, but even more so by her expression. She was smiling - happy even, something that he had destroyed only days before. He was feeling...complicated. The last time they had met, she had been drenched in water, holding a basketball in her hands, desperate to help him just as he had her. She had noble intentions...and she had no way of knowing the true reason he had rebuffed her offer so many times before...and when he finally showed her the proof, she broke down in front of him - both physically, and emotionally. Of course he was happy to see her again, but he also felt...complicated. Was it guilt? Regret? He had no clue, but seeing her as happy as she was, he was certain she had gotten over it...but why couldn't he?
"You were sick, it wasn't your fault..."
No. It was his. It was his fault he had forgotten the promise. His assumption that she would go home due to the rain. His fault for allowing her to stand out there for as long as she did...and his fault that she had fainted. With a sigh he returned to his previous position, this time facing towards the opposite wall, staring at the closed door, for once hoping someone, or something, would interrupt him from his complicated thoughts and emotions.

Sorry for the dash of stalker vibes that you might pick while reading this post. Slightly changed due to deletion and reposting XDHe hoped he would see her.
He had not seen her at her residence... in fact, it had seemed rather anticlimactic when it turned out that she was indisposed, after all his automatic, almost reflexive, mental preparation. It had knocked the wind out of his metaphorical sails.
He had often reasoned that Fate liked to play tricks with him, and it had seemed to do so at that time... it always seemed so in the worst moments... well, but it wouldn't have been Fate if it were not so precise.
Now he was going to go at it again; he would probably check the drama club room, find no one, and then check the bakery, and find no one... at least not the one he was looking for. He ascended the stairs of the old building.
The place carried a sleepy air, like a person who had attempted many times and was now weary... or perhaps it was just his pessimism; he chastised himself, he had only 'failed' once, and even then, it was not even a failure, just a twist of circumstance.
His fruitless looking had drummed into him the facts that however he held Furukawa-senpai in his eyes, he was not even close enough to have the littlest inkling how she was, where she was, what she would be doing.
He was told she was... recuperating. He did not even know if she had been sick, which at least an acquaintance like him knew tended to happen, or if she had just been mildly sick, and was forced to come home early, or... well, his inability to come up with more scenarios probably meant that he did not know her enough.
He decided he would not think so much. It hurt when you exceeded a certain degree of thinking. At this point he would have thought of what he was going to say to her, the little trinket, that he had managed to procure from the game in the hot springs trip, that he had planned to give to her, of the chances of her being there or not, of there being other people or not. Still some thoughts crept into his consciousness, but he tried his best not to dwell on them. If she was not there, he would try again at a different time... if she was there...
He entered the nondescript corridor, reaching the end of his slow climb. The afternoon light seemed to be watching him, the lightly scented air, as well. His eyes picked up a sight he had seen before when he had come to this very same room; the dark hair, that nonchalant face... it must be Okazaki-senpai. But it seemed he was not the first to come to the room... there was someone inside, with a familiar voice, and although the song that familiar voice was singing was not familiar to him he discerned the lyrics...
"The dango friends will all hold hands... and form a big circle."
"They'll found a village on a dango planet... and all smile together."
"The rabbits are waving their hands... from the big Moon."
"The happy things, the sad things, all of them... roll them up..."
It sounded beautiful, even if... or maybe because... of the childish lyrics. It struck a chord in Ayumu's mind, with its simple melody, and he would have wanted the singer to continue...
...but Okazaki-senpai had chosen that moment to interject, and then the singer... it was definitely Furukawa-senpai... and Okazaki-senpai talked. He felt nervous yet again... while he had put on a bit of a show the last time he had met Okazaki-senpai, now his presence intimidated him. He wondered why; when it had just been the two of them... well, the two of them and a certain loudmouthed girl... he did not feel this nervous. Maybe... because he could be so casual with Furukawa-senpai, more than he could... and then he shut the door.
Agh, I've hesitated too long... he thought. He edged to the door, gingerly, almost as if there would be somebody else looking at him, and that somebody would point out his presence. He had hoped to see her, but now... perhaps he had just as much difficulty with Furukawa-senpai being there almost as much as she not being around. He was feeling like he had been when he had been approaching the Furukawa Bakery...
It took him a bit of a while... although it seemed longer to him... before he reached the door that had been amusingly near. He wondered if he should wait for a moment, since it seemed Okazaki-senpai and Furukawa-senpai were engaged in conversation, and then he decided he didn't really care that much... and tentatively knocked.
"E-excuse me."

"You were sick, it wasn't your fault..."
"Well.. it was my fault for waiting out in the rain like that, I should have known better, and--.. I made you try to shoot a basket, even though you were hurt. I'm so sorry, Okazaki, it was really rude of me."
She bowed her head a little in somewhat of shame and another form of apology. She felt terrible about the whole situation to begin with she knew moping over it wouldn't do much good to change things. They were past it now, or so she hoped they could be. She never wanted to cause him that sort of pain again, for as long as she lived.
"But thank you for carrying me home, it was very kind of you."
She lifted her head to gaze at him once more as a smile formed upon her features. She thought back to what had happened that day was school was over. The rain came down so heavily, it was icy and stung after a while but still she waited with the Basketball in her grasp for the other to arrive. She couldn't remember if it was her trust, some blind hope or just some sort of intuition that made her feel like she knew he would eventually arrive but whatever it had been was correct. Of course at some point she grew a little concerned when he didn't show for quite a while, the rain only took a few minutes to drench her and by the time Tomoya had showed up she was soaked to the bone.
Eventually it became more of a numbing and calming sensation than it did painfully cold. Nagisa was aware of how unhealthy it was to wait out in those conditions but her determination held a better place in her mind then concern for her own safety. She started to grow worried for Tomoya as to why he hadn't arrived yet, she wondered if something had happened to impede his arrival or something was keeping him away all together that day. She didn't want to leave, she couldn't; what if when she finally left he showed up just after she vanished? What if he was left looking for her? She couldn't do that to him after he'd gone out of his way to help her even though just a small while before he was a complete stranger.
So she waited, and waited, and waited, and eventually she could hear his voice calling to her. She looked up to see him and smiled. Even though he questioned whether or not she was an idiot for having been so careless she was still very happy to see him. Maybe if he cared enough to keep his promise he could eventually show how much he really cared for the club, right? But no.. he'd already stated he had no intention of joining the Drama Club, or being a part of its activity. But if that was the case then why was he helping her?
She shrugged it off a little, finding it best not to worry too much at the moment, they had work to do and not a lot of time to do it. After all the Founder's Festival was nearing and she needed to make the club official if she ever wanted a chance at presenting something during the Festival. Her head lifted at the sound of a soft knock sounding at the door. She wondered whom it could be at this time. It could easily be one of Okazaki's friends just as well as it could be someone interested in joining the club. Her heart fluttered for a moment at the hopeful thought of someone finally reaching out to be a part of the group.
"C-come in, please! The door is unlocked!"
She called out to the person behind the closed door, her hands clasping together a bit more tightly in anticipation of who would end up walking through. She couldn't place the likelihood on anything specific but at the moment she didn't want to risk disappointing herself by doing so anyways. She almost started to panic a little, she didn't have anything really prepared for a new arrival regarding exactly what she planned to do in at least some form of organized explanation. Would it be just enough to let them know she had an idea ready? Would she have to think of something clever on the spot?

Seven chapters anxiety, they cannot be dispelled...
Perhaps Mizukami Ayumu would have been a little more relieved if he had known that his slight feelings of panic were mirrored past the door that he now stood before, that they were shared by she who he admired.
As it stood, he felt a little weak in the knees, and if he had been slightly more sure that he would not be so easily heard from within, he would have paced like a father expecting his first baby.
...and just when one is ending, yet another begins...
He regarded the small gift that he was planning to give... did a double-take, and stuffed it into his pocket hurriedly. Maybe he'll give it at a different time... Okazaki-senpai was also inside...
"C-come in, please! The door is unlocked!"
It was Furukawa-senpai's voice. He gritted his teeth; he shouldn't keep her waiting so long, even if only half of him wanted to charge right in, and the other half of him wanted to flee, and yet another half of him wanted to stay still. (And yes, the Mizukami did know his fractions.)
...yet another chapter of anxiety.
Deciding that listening to the last two impulses would be fruitless (well, it was usual that listening to them would be fruitless, but they have a way of being persistent), and gathering his courage, he opened the door so that he wouldn't be able to back out.
"Uh... a very good morning... I mean, a very good afternoon, senpai." he rambled, not thinking clearly. He bowed, slightly deeper and slower than a nod, and only after that did he allow himself to see the room's inside.
There she was... Furukawa-senpai... looking back at her as he finished his obeisance. The light from the windows framed her shadow. She looked a little paler than normal, but otherwise she looked fine; even her trademark 'antennae' were up and about, her cheeks lightly flushed, her posture and her regard pristine. Dwelling on the details helped the sophomore fix his shaky smile.
"I passed by your house last Monday, but you were..." he trailed, letting the context finish the job.
His sight drifted to the other senpai... Okazaki. It was just a short gaze, a missive of the eyes, but it was almost a glare. If it could have been translated into words, it would have gone something like 'How dare you for being here' and 'You haven't been taking care of Furukawa-senpai well, have you?'. Yes, the language of the second-year's pupils and irises were slightly more disrespectful than his tongue.
Still, he did not mean to be malicious; it was still part of his self-consciousness... he could not decide if his upperclassman's presence simplified or complicated things. Again and again he felt he lacked readiness to stand before her... he did get over it after a while of speaking with her, but it had a way of coming up, like some sort of emotional cramps.
He shifted, attempting to get rid of the signs of his discomfort, and succeeded partly. He took a step, and realized the door needed to be opened a little more wider. He swallowed, did the widening that was needed, took another step, and he was in. He had let go of the door, and then he thought that it might be bad to leave it ajar, so he closed it more securely.
"G-good afternoon, Furukawa-senpai." he repeated... he almost repeated the bow, too. He scrambled for his metaphorical bearings. He had come here for something... well, he had come to see her, and he was seeing her, but... there was something he wanted to tell her... right?

With a modicum of interest he lifted his head, but was disappointed to see it wasn't anyone of particular interest, but instead the same person who had visited him when he was alone. Didn't he say he was interested in joining the drama club? He should have been intrigued to see potential members - or anyone at all - especially after how poorly there last recruitment attempt went...and yet he felt wary. Perhaps it was how...odd the boy was - ruefully he remembered the first time they had met...whereas the memory was admittedly filled more with a certain demon hell-spawn, but from what he could remember he wasn't TOO strange...yet-
And then he heard his words, cleverly slipped in past the greetings and pleasantries. He had been to her house? What? When? Why? For reasons unknown to him his mind was racing with questions, but he kept his tempo in check as he thought of the most reasonable explanation. He had none. To his knowledge they were merely acquaintances, casual friends at best, how did he know where Furukawa lived? Trying to envision his memories of the place, he realized her parents might have revealed their daughter very easily to him had he stumbled into their bakery with his uniform on...but the way he phrased it made it seem as if he had visited just for her...but how-
The seemingly simple glance simultaneously cut off all threads of thoughts while confirming suspicions. A glare. A quiet, arguably anti-social, junior had just glared at him, a senior delinquent, likely feared by even a few seniors, who roamed the halls while class was in session. It was impossible for him to confirm the deed he had performed to deserve the glare, but he had his suspicions, no matter how disturbing or improbable they seemed. One thing was clear though...the boy that was standing in from of him at little interest in drama. He had acted with an air of coolness when dealing with him at his worst...but in in front of Furukawa he was comparable to a bumbling fool. He would have never noticed it had the boy not pointed him in the right direction...but now that he knew, what was he supposed to do?
As Furukuwa was inevitably looking in his direction he motioned for her to give her speech - the very thing they had been preparing for if someone expressed interest in joining. With all of the work they had done, denying anyone was out of the question...especially after Furukawa had come so far. He couldn't deny her that...not now...

Nagisa blinked a bit upon seeing the other walk inside, taking a moment to allow her eyes to slowly scan over his form before her almost signature warm and friendly smile found its way onto her features, staring at him intently in anticipation to discover the reason for his visit, but she could only assume it was from the interest he'd previously stated he held in possible joining the drama club. At the moment she couldn't be happier, even if it was only one person at a time she was very glad to be finally getting through to people; that is if that was truly the reason the boy had decided to visit the small room that day, she only hoped so.
"Uh... a very good morning... I mean, a very good afternoon, senpai."
She couldn't help but allow her smile to broaden at the small mistake he made during the greeting, mostly because she could relate to the harmless clumsiness at times, having been a victim of it quite often when it came to certain things depending on how she was feeling that day. It seemed that some days she felt perfectly fine and confident, and others she secretly felt like her head was a mess at times. There was so much to think about and plan. How would she prepare for the Founder's Festival? Would she have enough members by then to make the club official? And even then, would anyone really be appreciative of her efforts? She might not have been the same as the others who'd been affiliated with the past club were use to, but she hoped they could accept her just the same if she kept the spirit of it all alive.
"I passed by your house last Monday, but you were..."
She blinked a bit; he'd been to visit her at her home? She was sick at the time though, it was strange.. her father hadn't mentioned anything of it; she thought she'd heard some commotion downstairs on that particular day for what small portion of it she wasn't resting to regain her strength, but she only assumed it was her father having carelessly upset her mother over her pastries again as was routine for almost any day at the Furukawa Bakery. She almost felt a bit more guilty for having not been there for whatever he had needed to speak to her with, she didn't want to inconvenience him, it wouldn't be a very good representation of the club if even the leader herself was so unavailable. But it's not like that was exactly in her control at the time, was it?
"G-good afternoon, Furukawa-senpai."
A small giggle seemed to slowly escape her, one of genuine happiness and glee before she eventually replied to his second greeting, having intended to do so with the first but being caught off guard with his abrupt continuation. She didn't want to be rude and interrupt, so she patiently waited until an appropriate time to speak as any well-mannered person would.
"Ah, good afternoon Mizukami-san. Welcome to the drama club's room!"
She allowed her form to bend forward slightly in a small and polite bow, her voice having been as soft and sweet as always. Her hands found their way to their usual place close together at her front, almost clasped together in a casual manner but simply resting for now as she didn't really want to be caught fidgeting nervously like she felt the need to at the moment.
"Have you come here to join the club? I heard before that you were interested. I think it'd be wonderful to have a friend who's truly devoted to be able to lend a hand and be a part of the group."
As she spoke, Nagisa lifted her hands to clasp together a bit in front of her chest in a happy manner, a quality and habit she seemed to inherit from her mother as both could be caught doing so at different times. She tilted her head a little, eyes closing somewhat and her smile brightening as she finished speaking, giving off the normal radiantly warm and caring aura she usually had about her when it came to conversing with her friends. It took her a moment however to notice what she had said, and correct herself over one certain potion.
"N-not that I'm saying you have to be completely devoted though! I mean I know you probably have a lot of work and stuff for school since you're in a lower grade, b-but I just meant devoted as in.."
She seemed to ramble a little as her nervousness surfaced once she realized she'd have to remember how to handle the situation as she'd been practicing to with Tomoya, she only hoped Ayumu wouldn't lose interest and walk away as easily as Tomoya did during their exercises. It certainly wasn't her goal, nor' would it help her confidence or hopes for the club if she ended up letting a chance like this slip away. Her fingers fidgeted a bit as her hands remained clasped together, the thought of the speech she'd prepared ran through her mind, but as before the different concerns and lack of full focus sort of jumbled things around within her mind.
"U-uhm.."
She stammered softly, turning her head to glance to Tomoya for a moment. She noticed the small motion but kept staring at him with an almost pleading expression for some sort of aide as to where to begin. She believed that maybe if he could somehow start out at least part of the introduction she would be able to remember everything and follow along gracefully. That was her plan, at least, but who knew just exactly how well that would work. She didn't want to keep Ayumu waiting very long either while she simply stared awkwardly, embarrassingly unsure of what to do.

He was inside.
For a bit he resumed his attention to the one famed as a delinquent; it was apparent that he had noted his presence, and there was a gleam of recognition, but otherwise he was laconic and expressionless. The older male had kept his... would it be proper to call it a poker face? It almost felt like their positions were reversed, as opposed to the last time they had met, where he had been mostly calmly assessing, and Okazaki-senpai had been vibrantly reacting to Aizawa-san. He just could not help it; Furukawa-senpai was here.
The only gesture he caught from his reticent senior was a small sign, directed to the club president. But that had been after her replies to his pronouncements. It was true that he felt he should be constantly aware of the other person in the room, but Furukawa's presence had a way of being bright, at least to him, and that meant that she grabbed his attention easily.
She had waited for him to finish, and so he similarly waited, standing by the door he had just entered a while ago, not off by a step. She began with the common courtesies, from returning his greeting to welcoming him to their humble abode; while it was not exactly impressive to look at, it was orderly. As he listened, he shifted his posture to favor his right side, the slightest gestures of his restlessness.
She then continued with the question that, of course, he expected her to say; in fact, she had asked him the same question before. She was right... he did say once that he was interested, but he also quickly appended to that statement that he would think about it, and he did think about it, assiduously. That was right... he had come here to answer that question, that which he had deliberated about for what seemed to be quite a long time, although perhaps it seemed long because he thought so much about it.
Okazaki's unspoken observation had been partly correct; while Ayumu had rationalized in his head that, ultimately, what was presented in a play was a story, and that since it was a story it was something he liked, the youth did not really have particular attachments to drama itself. Of course, the main driving reason for his consideration had been Furukawa's involvement with it. Ironically that also had made him hesitate, if it would be selfish to treat the whole matter as an opportunity to see his senpai more.
But even if he was still mostly unsure of the nature of his motives and their implications, he had decided on what to do; after all, he was on a time limit, and he had read somewhere that it was better to regret doing something rather than regret doing nothing, or something like that. At her query he almost opened his mouth to answer, but she continued, and so he stayed silent. Besides, he was not sure how to phrase his... application to the club, yet.
He tried to make his similarly nervous smile reassuring, as Furukawa fidgeted over a few words she had said; he nodded slowly at her clarification. He hoped he was not making her in any way uncomfortable. 'Devoted', huh? he mused. Maybe that would make me too suspicious... but Furukawa-senpai does need help with her club, after all, and it's the third years who have the ultimate burden. Besides... I have a lot of free time, hehe.
It had been at this point that he noted Okazaki's gesture. Furukawa had responded to Okazaki with a pleading look... he felt a slight twinge of jealousy over that, but there was not much he could do about it, Okazaki had helped her for a substantial amount of progress, it seemed, and perhaps she needed her help to complete her statement.
Unsure of what to say at this point, as it seemed that the president still had yet something to say, and it would be rather strange to interject at this point with his acceptance of her invitation... he kept his lips sealed, maintaining a facade of patience. Wordlessly, with the slightest tip of the head, the small smile, the playful flame of eagerness in his eyes (that he hoped was not too obvious), he encouraged her to go on... or at least he tried to.

He allowed the silence to stand for a few moments after her speech puttered out, making sure that her confidence had indeed run dry and she really did need his assistance (though the look she gave him was more then enough to confirm that), before standing up and picking up where she left off, approaching the two as if he was only now joining the conversation, standing beside Furukawa and across from the strange boy who had entered only moments before.
"Well there you have it, do you want to join? If you have any questions you can direct them to the club president."
He motioned towards Furukawa as he finished his terse words. All she just needed was a small push. It was all she ever needed.
His posture was laid back but his eyes were attentive at they awaited the boy's response. It was very possible for him to get distracted with thoughts of how best to poke fun at the boy's, seemingly, irrational and extraneous interest in Furukawa, but now wasn't the time for that. He was here to help Furukawa: he didn't have time to be distracted with every possible stream of thought that was available to him.
Instead, he allowed the two to continue talking, only offering his opinions and thoughts when Furukawa stumbled or glanced at him for support. His position beside her was likely giving her too much support, as now it was as if the two of them were talking together with the newcomer, whereas in the past, as they had practiced, she was supposed to deliver the speech and recruit people on her own. However, considering this was the first hopeful recruit, it was hard to resist giving her that small pleasure. She would do better next time.

"Well there you have it, do you want to join? If you have any questions you can direct them to the club president."
Nagisa seemed to stare for a moment too long as if expecting him to continue onward, before she noticed that he had directed full focus toward her. She'd almost forgotten that she was the President, she thought about growing flustered at the small mishap but pulled herself together for the sake of having a chance at finally gaining a member for the club.
"Y-yes, Okazaki is correct! I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding the club. Currently I have a play planned out that I've wanted to do for quite some time, and with the Founder's Festival beginning soon I hope to be able to put on a performance for everyone, and I would really appreciate any help I could get, Mizukami-san."
She had said, adding a small bow near the end of her sentence to symbolize her gratitude at the other's interest, already holding quite high hopes for him becoming a part of the project. The thought of him declining never even really crossed her mind; she found it easier to just remain high-spirited despite the chance to be shot down, it helped her get over things easier if they ended up going sour anyways. Another smile made its way upon her features, and she couldn't help but present it brightly.
"After all, It'd also be a good chance for you to get to know Okazaki, hm? You two haven't spent much time together I believe."
She giggled softly, her signature little amused giggle she'd used so many times before. She did her best to keep the mood lively and welcome to the others. She wasn't sure what it was exactly, but the way they seemed to glance at each other in the few moments Ayumu had entered the room concerned her. She figured instead of prying, she'd just try to subtly cheer them both up. Her hands clasp together in front of her once more, she had lost track of just how long her eyes had been staring at Ayumu, filled with hope and some form of wonder, an intent gaze that remained unwavering due to her spacing and mental distractions.

"Y-yes... Okazaki-senpai and I... haven't... much."
To be clear, Mizukami Ayumu did not dislike Okazaki Tomoya; in fact, if he was to pick an emotion, he would probably say he was rather intrigued by him, how, for no apparent reason, he had suddenly helped her with this endeavor of hers, how he displayed an attitude more akin to a trickster than the delinquent he was labeled as.
Perhaps he felt slightly more aggressive towards him because he had done so much for Furukawa... some things he had not even thought of, and then some things that he had thought of, but had been unable to put into motion.
He turned, briefly, belatedly considering that he might have been rude to Okazaki, in his exclusive politeness towards Furukawa.
She... she would want us to get along, right?
"O-Okazaki-senpai, good afternoon." he pronounced in a clipped tone, bowing stiffly and shortly.
It was a little forced.
His face muscles attempted to produce a face of respectful acknowledgment, and promptly failed, though it was, at the very least, less hostile than his first regard for the older boy, when he had first entered the room.
He returned his attention to the club president. Going over that, he wondered if it was at this point that he should state his purpose for coming here. It felt like it was his turn to be awkward. He wondered if it was just his imagination or if his throat really was parched.
"Uh..."
He tentatively opened his mouth the slightest bit, almost imperceptible, and then closed it again.
Inwardly he was tempted to answer her more recent statements, about.. questions about their activities; it must be the procrastinator in him, yet again, but of course, seeing that he had gotten himself inside, he would have to give an answer, sooner rather than later... and he felt it would be dreadfully cowardly to say he would be thinking more about it, when he had already arrived at a decision in the first place.
Besides, he came here carrying his resolve, not queries... they would probably come later when he had to know where his upperclasswoman needed help. Querying... was probably the action he should delay. There was... an order to things; the decided parts first.
"Um... I guess I'll be... joining..." he announced meekly, replacing his previous stammers with drawn-out pauses.
"...if... you'll have me." She did say she needed all the help she could get, but he felt it was necessary...
He bowed, more deeply this time.

He stared at the boy with a disinterested look, making no motion to return his awkward greeting. The shift in mood and body language was so clear to him now, it seemed a wonder it had taken him so long to discover it. Whether this was beneficial or detrimental was still up in the air, but he quickly reasoned it couldn't be too toxic: as much as the boy liked to display a tough front, when told to face the consequences, he quickly crumbled. This assumption was quickly proven to him when the boy awkwardly acknowledged his presence, to which he answered with little more then an upraised eyebrow. He didn't feel obligated to save the boy from his awkward motions, as the boy had long since established that this was a game of territories rather then a display of honest interest.
He didn't know how to feel about this particular piece of information. On one hand, they would soon have the minimum number of members necessary to be a full fledged club, and, with Tomoyo as student council president, they could start preparing a drama to perform in a matter of days...on the other hand, just how genuinely interested the boy would be in helping such an endeavor, and how much he would simply contribute for his own needs, was unknown to him. He was overestimating him if he were to assume his plan was to contribute nothing and only make passes at the girl, but the mere existence of those selfish intentions were disconcerting all the same...and yet...this wasn't about him. It was about Furukawa. In her eyes, this would be a clear victory, a clear advancement in her goals. He would treat it the same, if for her sake alone.
For the first time that afternoon he let a genuine smile break out across his face, gently grasping her shoulder and facing towards her.
"Isn't that great Furukawa?! You just recruited your first member!"
It might have seemed a bit much, but he was genuinely happy she was one step closer to accomplishing her goal. From here it would only get easier...right?

"Isn't that great Furukawa?! You just recruited your first member!"
"My first.. club member.."
She teetered a little, as if about to fall. Her head suddenly felt a little light as the realization of her success sank in. She hadn't expected things to work out so well, and having just finished recovering from another fit of illness she was unprepared to handle the sudden flurry of emotion. She smiled however, even thought she felt partially overwhelmed she managed to condense it into a bright smile and rest her hand upon the desk's top, catching herself.
She hoped the motion hadn't been too noticeable as she didn't want to collapse in front of her very first club member and somehow leave a bad first impression. She lifted her head up then, taking in a deep breath before speaking.
"I-i'm glad! I'm so happy you'll be here to help out, Mizukami-san!"
She lifted her gaze to him then, staring intently for a moment before shutting her eyes, lifting a curled hand to rest against her chin as she let out a soft giggle, a habit her and her mother both shared like many others. Her heart fluttered with joy, things were beginning to look up after all. She wouldn't lie, at some points she thought of it all being hopeless, but just knowing that at least one person had taken the chance to join the club, maybe others would be more confident to reach out to her as well?
"I couldn't have gotten this far without you though, Okazaki."
She knew it, and she was so.. proud? Was that a fitting word for the situation? None the less she was happy to have met him. Without him speaking up that one day on the hill, who knows how things would've turned out? She'd probably still be all by herself, and he'd still be causing trouble.. well, at times he could be rather troublesome still, but she felt that deep down somewhere his heart was as genuinely kind and warm as anyone else's. It was odd.. he could be so cold toward other people, but with her at times he was so open and supportive. She wondered why he'd stuck with this for so long, why he wanted to help a girl he hardly knew anything about. But whatever the reason, she was happy.
"Thanks for all your help.. I probably wouldn't have ever even taken the first step toward rebuilding the club without you there to help me along, heehee."
She was minimizing herself again. It's not like Tomoya had single handedly brought everything into fruition.. though at times that's what it felt like, like she was only along for the ride. It was weird, how in truth the roles were reversed, and he was mostly the supporting pillar while she worked tirelessly. Not to say that he didn't do anything though, she knew he's done more than plenty to be helpful other than just encouraging words.
She knew he previously stated he held no interest or intention in joining the club, but having him around as much as he was, was just as satisfying. Nagisa liked to think that the effort between them both was equally split. She couldn't really picture herself with any other friend to help her all this way. Friend.. the word sort of stuck in her head for a bit, fluttering around her mind as she thought of it. Were they friends? Were they good friends?.. Best fri-- no, Sunohara had taken that position as far as she knew, they'd known each other much longer, and Nagisa didn't believe she could ever strike a conversation as easily as the other.
"If we keep working hard, do you think we can get enough members to make everything official in time for the Founder's Festival?"
She questioned, her hands clasped together peacefully against her chest and her head tilted to peer up at him with eyes searching for answers she did not posses. She hadn't really considered asking herself the same question and seeing what she thought of it, she fueled most of her courage from his approval. If he seemed to hold hope in something, so did she, but her eyes almost seemed pleading with him to retain that same sense of hope and courage that had carried her along all this way.
