Ibuki Fuko ___________________________________________________________________________ Fuko grumbled a little as the girl seemed to ignore her existence. Did she not notice Fuko sitting right next to her at all? But how could someone not notice someone else’s very existence? Unless, no, it couldn’t be, could it? Was this dark haired girl was some kind of ghost student, doomed to stay and read in the library forever? That must have been it! It was the only explanation for how she could ignore everyone, even someone poking her. She must also be a high level ghost as well to be able to be poked in the first place.
Knowing that a ghost was now protecting her, Fuko felt more secure against the student. He would see this ghost girl and run away in fear and despair. Fuko giggled a little at the thought before deciding to get comfortable and watch the scene unfold. It never crossed her mind that if the girl was a ghost, she might try to hurt her. She clutched onto her starfish, and sat quietly.
The student had tried to reach across the girl to reach Fuko, but the girl suddenly came to life. She seemed scared about something, which confused Fuko. Why would a ghost be scared about something? She sat there with her head titled, watching as the man come closer and closer. And then, the ghost girl yelled “Pervert”, and the guy seemed to have just froze. Fuko had an idea what the word meant, but she had yet to have any major experience with such people. She just thought the word was some kind of magical phrase that made people you didn’t want near you to go away.
Soon the girl was holding a book close to her, and crying. Wait, could ghost cry? Fuko had never heard of such a thing. She must have been some kind of special ghost to be able to cry. What a shocker! Fuko would have to remind herself to give this ghost a starfish after this was all done. Such a rare spectacle would be a wonder for Fuko’s sister’s wedding. Everyone would want see what other amazing skills this super ghost had.
First, however, the bad student had to go away and leave Fuko alone. The magic word pervert apparently still had great power, as he was backing away from them. He even seemed to have forgotten that Fuko was there! Instead, he was being watched by everyone else in the library, and was rambling on trying to say this was a misunderstanding. What was there to misunderstand? Fuko needed the wood to carve starfish, and he tried to take it away from her, saying it was his. But it was on the floor, and he had plenty of wood in his arms when she took it. He didn’t need it at all. Fuko was perfectly justified in taking some wood for her starfish. So in her mind, he deserved what he had just been given.
Once the man was gone, Fuko watched as the girl took a deep sigh, though she still trembled a little. The room was safe, so Fuko didn’t see why the ghost was still acting scared. Maybe she was going to explode from using all her energy to make the man leave. How sad. It meant she couldn’t come to Fuko’s sister’s wedding, and instead she would disappear into the afterlife. Fuko wondered if they had starfish in the afterlife as well? What was she thinking! Of course they had them. What kind of perfect world wouldn’t have something as cute and adorable as starfish. Why, a utopia without starfish wouldn’t be a utopia at all! It would be, uhm, whatever the opposite of a utopia was.
Fuko was about to drift off into one of her daydreams, in this case starfish dancing around with the dead, when she noticed the girl looking at her. Her large, lavender eyes looked like she was confused about something. Was she confused about having a human so close to her? As a ghost, she must not have experienced contact with a lot of people, and after that Loud Man’s behavior, she must have thought humans evil. Which meant it was up to Fuko to show her that not all humans were bad people. And for Fuko, there was only one way to do that.
”No, Fuko is not a bully at all. Fuko is in fact the opposite of a bully. Fuko is a kind and caring person, and wishes you, Ghost Girl, to have this,” she lifted up a wooden starfish right into the girl’s face,”Fuko wants you take this as a gift for saving her from the Loud Man, and to congratulate her sister on her wedding day.”
Fuko placed it into the girl’s hand (making sure she held it tightly so it wouldn’t fall), and then took out another starfish she had carved earlier in the day. She held it up again for her to see, and then started to speak again.
”Now then, I want you to hug the starfish, like this.”
Fuko held the starfish close to her, almost as if she was coddling a baby. She waited for the girl to do the same, but her mind soon began to wander. The girl in front of her was rather cute and innocent, almost as much as Fuko herself was. Her large, yellow eyes glanced down at the starfish in the hands, and she thought of this ghost girl hugging the starfish. In her mind, the girl was holding it close to her, rocking it a little to help comfort the starfish. At first the starfish was scared, being held by a ghost, but soon it was as comfortable with her as it was with its own mother. And it was napping in her arms, and the girl was giving it a comforting smile as she sang it a lullaby.
Such a scene was too much for Fuko, and soon she started to slip the bonds of reality. Her entire mind was focused on a nursery of baby starfish, with nurses that looked like Fuko and the Ghost Girl taking care of them. In the real world, Fuko looked like she had lost it. Her eyes were closed, and a euphoric smile was on her face. Her cheeks had a tint of red on them as she blushed, and she was holding the starfish close to her. It would be awhile before she snapped out of it from the looks of things. ___________________________________________________________________________

Kotomi sighed with relief as the strange girl revealed she indeed was not a bully. She even claimed to be the opposite of an antagonizer. This girl was a hero? Kotomi lavender eyes seemed to be even more confused. How could someone claim to be a hero? Actually, she had read about several different self-proclaimed heroes in fictions. Such characters were completely unreliable. They were very selfish and boastful but completely cowardly. They usually led the hero astray with their antics, always trying to outdo them to feed their own egos. But in the end, the hero of the story would come out on top and the self-proclaimed hero was left either feeling bitter enough to become the true antagonist, or to change their ways. Luckily, Kotomi was no heroine. She was just an average school girl, thus she was safe from any ill feelings this person could potentially develop. But…this person was weird. It was apparent she liked to talk in third person, but that didn’t bother Kotomi too much. Talking in first or third person was just someone’s outlook in life. But when people talked in their person, they usually had inflated egos. It supported the self-proclaimed theory Kotomi had developed about this Fuko person.
But Fuko wasn’t strange for talking in their person…she was strange because she was calling Kotomi, Ghost Girl.
The dark haired girl sat there for a moment as she tried to work out a reason in her mind. Did this little ninja girl assume she was a banshee because she screamed earlier? While that was a likely scenario, her screams would have signified the foreshadowed death of someone in this school. Kotomi certainly wouldn’t scream if she were a banshee, so no one would have to die. The death of a loved one was such a tragedy, and the kindhearted girl never wished such grief on anyone. It was much too hard to endure for the young lady, even if it happened so many years ago. Still, that was a horrible assumption. She didn’t randomly wail. Kotomi clearly yelled the word pervert because one was trying to touch her. Her unnatural action deeply rooted in logic. If a pervert wasn’t trying to touch her, she would have never screamed. And it was impossible for her to be an yurei. Kotomi was clearly in her school uniform and not a ceremonial white dress or kimono. Plus there was no wisping flames about her.
”I’m not a ghost,” she interjected before Fuko explained why she wanted Kotomi to accept the wooden craving. The small girl pushed the wooden figure in her hands and Kotomi held on to it. For a moment, she was too distracted on what she just accepted to continue her correct. The senior girl surely didn’t save this Fuko girl from any loud person. She was lucky the pervert left the library before he could do anything inappropriate. Kotomi was no fighter. She had no physical strength and no self-defense training. If someone were to act too forceful with her, then she would be doomed in that situation. The excitable young girl continued on, explaining that the oddly shaped block of wood was a sea star. ”Starfish? Asteroidea...?” She looked down at the craving with a serious face. It was symmetrical, but the craving was too smooth to be any type of echinoderms. In fact, the word echinoderms meant spiny skin. It was supposed to be a bit prickly or at least bumpy. This was not an accurate craving of a starfish.
The bright eyed girl wanted Kotomi to hug the craving. Given her very energetic personality, it was best not to fight with the girl. Causing some sort of conflict could only lead to a bad scenario. Kotomi pushed the starfish towards her chest and laced her fingers around the wood. She didn’t put tons of enthusiasm or wrap her body around the figure like the strange girl before her. Oddly enough, there was no protesting or objections; instead the gray haired girl was smiling and blushing slightly. Kotomi just stared at her euphoric expression for a bit till she stared blushing too. For some reason, she felt slightly ashamed for studying the younger girl when she looked like that. There was something about that exhilarated expression that led Kotomi to believe that she was enjoying something very private. Instead of bothering her, she slipped the wooden block into her bag and contemplated on her next course of action.
There was nothing wrong with congratulating someone on their wedding. It was always best to wish a newly married couple a successful life together. The only problem was Kotomi had no idea whom Fuko was and who was this sister she wanted Kotomi to wish a happy life to. The dark haired girl finally rose to her feet and stretched out a bit. She looked down at the smaller girl and shyly tapped her on the shoulder. ”Umm, excuse me Fuko chan…” she started with a bit of hesitation. ”Who is your sister? And when am I congratulating her?” Kotomi stared at the strange girl for a bit as she continued with her daydream. Just what was she thinking in that mind of hers? From her affections towards starfish, Kotomi logically assumed it had something to do with hugging one since her arms were still around the object. Still, it was important she got those two answers from the tiny younger classman if she really was going to fulfill the girl’s request.
”Umm, Fuko chan?” she said again, poking the girl in the cheek this time. ”Should I come back at another time?”

Ibuki Fuko ___________________________________________________________________________ Fuko just sat there, waiting for the girl to respond to anything that she said. Instead, she just sat there, staring at Fuko. Did Fuko have something on her face? She took a sleeve and began to wipe at her face, but looking at it she didn’t see anything on it. So either she missed it, or there was nothing on her face. The first was rather unbelievable, as she would know if she had gotten something on her face. But if the girl wasn’t staring at her for that reason, why wasn’t she saying anything.
But wait, the girl was a ghost wasn’t she? Maybe she couldn’t speak except to yell out the word ‘Pervert’ to make the bad people go away. Seeing the power of the word, Fuko could understand why she wouldn’t say it unless needed to. So that meant that this was a smart ghost, one who didn’t abuse her powers. Instead, she saved them for those special moments when someone was in help. She wasn’t just a ghost, she was a superhero. A superhero ghost girl who hung in the library, which must have been her secret headquarters. Hiding plain sight, what a perfect plan! Fuko wondered if the girl needed a sidekick?
The girl’s words, however, crushed Fuko’s dream of teaming up with the ghost to become Ghost Girl and her sidekick the Starfish Manipulator. She said she wasn’t a ghost, which meant she could speak normally, ruining the rest of Fuko’s thought. The girl wasn’t a superhero after all. This caused Fuko to become rather sad, at least for a moment at least. Once the girl accepted starfish, her smile quickly returned.
She sat there, staring intently at the now normal girl, waiting for a response from her. Instead, she sat there some more, quiet. Even if she wasn’t a ghost, she sure acted like she was dead. The only other words she heard come from her were ‘Starfish’ and ‘Asteroida’. She had never heard of the second word, and thought it must have been something to do with asteroids. On the other hand, the girl believing her in saying it was a starfish gave her hope, and she bit her bottom lip in anticipation for some kind of response. Instead, the girl just looked down at it seriously. Was she studying it, hoping to unlock the secret to it’s cuteness? Yes, that had to be, it was the only reason to do so!
Adding that thought into her thoughts about the nursery of baby starfish, Fuko was in a deep daydream by the time Kotomi started to talk again. As Kotomi had done earlier, Fuko was ignoring her. It wasn’t that she was trying to be mean or anything, but whenever thoughts of starfish entered her head, it was rather hard to get them out. Either something had to happen to knock her out of it, or it would have to be run through it’s natural course. On the bright side, it meant that Kotomi had nothing to fear in studying Fuko. She wouldn’t remember anything that happened while she was lost in her own little world.
Kotomi, however, accidentally stumbled upon a third way of waking Fuko from her starfish-induced dreams by mentioning her sister. Almost immediately after she asked about her sister’s wedding, Fuko snapped out of her dream. She looked around for a moment, not exactly sure where she was. A quick look at the girl in front of her, however, and her memories flooded back to her. The boy, the wood, the ghost girl scaring him off, and even the finding out she wasn’t a ghost. Of course, she also woke to having the girl poking her in the cheek, which made her have to duck and wiggle her way out from behind her and into the clear area. Besides, her legs starting to cramp in that small space anyway. Still, she was thinking about chewing the girl out for poking her, but decided to be nice and instead fill her in on the rest of the details about her sister’s wedding.
“Fuko’s sister was an art teacher here three years ago, and she’s getting married to a man named Yusuke. They haven’t set a day though,” she looked downcast for a moment,”But I’m sure it’ll be soon, so when it’s set please come! I want all the students to attend,” she finished on a rather cheerful tone.
Fuko’s head tilted a little, and her face looked rather confused. She didn’t see the wooden starfish she had given to the girl anywhere? Was someone so jealous of such an adorable object that they stole it from the girl that saved Fuko? Whoever did such a cruel and unspeakable act was the worst! She must save that poor starfish from such a person, but who would serve as the witness to the act and give Fuko the clue to start her on the hunt. The only person who was close by, other than herself, was this girl, the victim herself. That was the best place to start when investigating a crime.
”Strangely Quiet Girl, someone stole your starfish! Do you know who took it? If you do, please tell Fuko and she’ll save it from them and return it to you. No starfish deserves to be stolen away like that,” she said, grabbing tightly to her starfish to make sure no one would try and steal hers away. ”Fuko’s sister was an art teacher here three years ago, and she’s getting married to a man named Yusuke. They haven’t set a day through, but I’m sure it’ll be soon. So when it’s set, please come! I want all the students to attend.”
She was rather determined and energetic about her sister’s wedding. It was only a nature reaction considering how special it must have been for her sister. Wedding were a big deal in women’s lives; and that wasn’t just something for the bride to be excited about. Weddings meant the start of a new and wonderful life with someone that you were going to spend the rest of your life with. Two people loved each other so much they were willing to make a verbal commitment for the world to see. Such an act was an important part of a person’s life. She could see why little Fuko was happy for her sister. And the more people there to wish the young couple luck on their new journey together must have meant a lot to the young high school girl. ”Okay,” Kotomi agreed with a smile. She never met the art teacher that was here three years ago considering the fact that this was the start of Kotomi’s third year. The woman moved on with her career before Kotomi was accepted into this high school. It was almost sad she never got the opportunity to meet the woman. Then again, the dark haired older girl rarely attended classes. While there was nothing wrong with attending a class since she was more than sure she could answer any question a teacher might ask, there was an issue with classmates. Kotomi didn’t hate people, but she didn’t like to be around very mean people. There was no telling who was rude and who wasn’t in a classroom. But in the library, she was safe. Bullies and hoodlums rarely came to places like this. Apparently, she just had to worry about the occasional pervert.
Fuko suddenly seemed worked up about something else. She looked around before questioned Kotomi. ”Eh?” she moaned before rising to her feet. She looked around her area too, a bit confused and worried. ”Someone stole it? Really?” Kotomi had just put away the starfish for safe keeping, and it seemed her plan was ruined by a thief! But the two girls had been here the whole time so how could it have been stolen? The taller girl frowned as she peeked over the book shelf, checking to see if there was someone around holding the oddly shaped block of wood. Unfortunately, there was no one fitting such a description. The senior girl looked down at her small friend then put her finger to her lip. Just who would steal such a sentimental gift from her? There was no one around them. The only person who had ever come near the two was the pervert. Oh no! She wasn’t sure how he could have done it, but the pervert must have taken the symbol of Fuko’s sister wedding. There was no telling what kind of foul acts the man could have been committing with her dear keepsake! It was a symbol of love and well-wishes and the man was defiling with his perversion! Kotomi winced as she wrapped her arms around her torso and fell back to her knees. She started shaking again and shook her head wildly.
”The pervert…how could he.”
But they couldn’t go after such a man. Two innocent girls going against such a foe would surely fail. And even if the two managed to success, what would be the cost? Their innocence was more important than carved wood. Kotomi would never willing give her body to someone like that. There was no telling what horrible things ran through his mind; and for him to try to do such things with her was too much to bear! And dear Fuko! She was younger than Kotomi. If anything were to happen to the young energetic girl to wipe away her smile… Kotomi shook her head again. It was truly a tragedy.
Suddenly, Kotomi stopped shaking and her arms fell to her side. She looked around then at Fuko. How did she know it was stolen? The dark haired girl had put it away for safekeeping, but Fuko never mentioned how someone stole it. She just said it was stolen and did Kotomi know who. What if it wasn’t stolen? What if it was still in her bag and the bright eyed girl never saw her put it away? Fuko was in such a euphoric state, it was hard to believe that she saw anything. She didn’t even respond to her the first time she called her name. Kotomi moved back towards her book bag and pulled out the carefully crafted gift. The senior sighed with relief as it seemed the pervert failed to take her belongings. “
I’m so relieved,” she moaned before hugging the starfish close to her chest. This meant little Fuko wouldn’t run head first into danger to save it from the vile boy. Considering Fuko’s enthusiasm, Kotomi easily believed she would go after the boy to try to retrieve her precious gift. Kotomi would have had to follow because it was her duty as an upperclassman to make sure someone like Fuko stayed out of trouble. But now that was all a thought in the past. Both girls could keep their innocence since that bad man’s plans had been foiled thanks to her ability to think ahead. Kotomi nodded then slipped her starfish back in her bag. It was best not to tempt fate. If he considered stealing it one time, he might consider it again. ”Thank you, Fuko chan,” Kotomi said after making sure the gift was safe. ”I will be sure to congratulate her sister on her big day with all the others…” That was a big of a scary thought. She would be around a crowd of people…how many of them were nice people? Well, Fuko wouldn’t invite bullies or scary men, so she probably didn’t need to worry about such things. She could happily wish the old art teacher a happy life without worry or qualms. It would just be a nice experience overall. Kotomi nodded and smiled gently before picking up a book in the stack. She once again found herself lost in her studies, ignoring the world. But there was no fear as long as the starfish was safely guarded and Fuko wasn’t going after any perverts. She could happily read without any apprehension or worries. [/sup][/blockquote] ___________________________________________ || Word Count || 1100 (without code) || OOC Note || ---

Ibuki Fuko ___________________________________________________________________________ Fuko became rather ecstatic as she heard the girl respond with an “Okay” to her request. Finally, someone had agreed to congratulate her sister. She responded with a rather wide-eyed and smiling face, before giving her a nod and a “Thank you.” This girl was now officially Fuko’s friend, whether or not she wanted to be. Anyone who was willing to give Fuko’s sister a chance, and protect Fuko from bad men trying to steal her wood, had to be considered a friend. She would be a good addition to her sister’s wedding audience, even if she never heard of her. Still, Fuko was sure that her sister would be glad to have such a nice person as this student come to her wedding, whenever that was.
Of course, the first thing they had to do was locate the missing starfish. Fuko was glad to see that she wasn’t the only one alarmed, as the girl stood up and looked for it. She seemed confused, as if she had no idea someone had stolen the starfish. This girl appeared to be really smart though, so if she didn’t know who stole it, that meant only one thing. That this person was not only an evil man for wanting to steal someone else’s starfish (probably because of pure jealousy towards this girl getting to own such an adorable item), but that they had some kind of special ninja training. It was the only explanation for why they would be able to steal it from under both of their eyes.
Fuko was about to give out orders for the search, but the girl was quick to start looking around the bookshelves for clues. Apparently her love for that starfish must have been enough to get her away from her books and to start moving around. It was amazing the power Fuko’s starfish had on people, wasn’t it? Not wanting to be left out of the hunt, Fuko began to look around in various places in the library. Since the girl had the bookcase covered, Fuko headed over to the tables and started looking both over and under them. However, even if she hadn’t done that, it would have been clear that the area was clear. Disappointed in not finding anything, she started to head over to the book-drop off slot to see if someone slipped in there when she heard the girl speak.
“The pervert…how could he.”
That was it, the man who was after Fuko earlier must have stole it! It was all a part of his revenge against her for taking the wood. He must have made his way in and stolen when they were somehow distracted (how that happened Fuko didn’t know). Somehow, in the last few minutes, his skills must have greatly expanded to the point he could pull that off. They were up against someone who was very good, but if it were to save the starfish she would climb Mt. Fuji to do so. Fuko gained a rather determined look after getting that thought, and was about to recruit the Strange Quiet Girl into her quest when she saw her shake her head about something.
From what Fuko could see, she was rather upset about something. Was this a physical manifestation of her despair over the lost starfish? Or was there something even deeper going on in that head of hers? She seemed rather upset over the guy during their first battle, and she seemed rather scared of him. If that was the case, then she must have been thinking of what he could do to them in order to protect the starfish from their retrieval mission. Well, whatever it was, Fuko wouldn’t let it stop her from getting it back. If the girl didn’t feel comfortable about it, however, Fuko wouldn’t force her to go.
Fuko turned her back on the girl, and was starting to walk out of the library when she heard some rustling. Turning around, she watched curiously as the girl started to shuffle through her bag for something. Maybe she was going to give Fuko something she could use to get back the starfish. That was not the case, however, but it was something much better. Instead of pulling out a tool for Fuko to use, she pulled out the starfish! Apparently, it hadn’t been stolen at all. Fuko’s determined look melted immediately, and instead spread into a more happier one.
”It wasn’t stolen after all. Fuko is relieved that you still have it. Fuko was almost ready to go out and steal it back. Just make sure to keep it safe and secure, as I’m sure you never want to loose such a preciously cute object,”
She watched as the girl held it to her chest, and Fuko’s earlier daydream finally came true. Just as she suspected, it was a perfect match, and it was only because the girl only did it for a second that Fuko didn’t slip back into a daydream. While Fuko would have preferred the girl to keep it out so she could fully enjoy it, at the same time it was probably a good idea to keep it in the bag. If the man did try to make an attempt on the starfish, it would be much safer there.
”Thank you, I’m sure my sister will be glad to have you at her wedding, especially after you helped me fight off that, what did you call him, ‘pervert?”
The girl soon picked up her books, and soon it was obvious to even Fuko that she was lost in her own world. Seeing as Fuko had no other business with her, and that she needed to get back to carving her starfish, she quietly picked up her pieces of wood and grabbed a chair. Scooting up to one of the tables, she slowly picked up her knife and began to scrape off wood from one of the blocks. Eventually that wooden square would become a starfish, and she could search for another person to bring to her sister’s wedding. Hopefully, they would be as nice as Strange Quiet Girl.
