"That really weird old guy. Orimoto, next to the health store? He does pretty good ice cream." Takuya suggested, not wishing to make eye contact with Tomoyo. It was anyone's guess as to why he had acted so cold towards her. Koji could only guess. Takuya had lived here all his life, and Koji knew the type of crowd he was friendly with. The wrong type of crowd. Perhaps he had an encounter, or at least one of his friends had an encounter with the infamous Sakagami. He didn't seem very comfortable discussing it, and Koji didn't want to pry. At least, not right now.
Not being a regular consumer of ice cream himself, therefore lacking an opinion about where the best place to purchase it from was, Koji simply nodded. It could easily have been a matter of personal tastes. Most ice creams were sickly sweet for the young Otomo, prefering mint to take the brunt of the sweetness. He didn't mind the extras, a chocolate sprinkles, or sweet sauces, provided the flavor was not already overly sweet. He was at the front of the group, ready to lead the way, when it dawned upon him, he never paid any attention to the location of the health shop, therefore, not knowing where it was.
"You'd better show us the way Ito. I don't know where we're going." He chuckled, giving his friend a sheepish grin. Takuya groaned, and stepped beside his friend and placed a mock sympathetic hand upon his shoulder. His manner clearly had changed. Perhaps because he was now in charge.
"It's not far. A few blocks away from here. The street's quite old. So is Orimoto's store. He's weird, but he's real friendly. Reminds me of Koji's grandfather actually."
"If you say so. He shouted at you for asking him about serving in the war Ito." Koji reminded, shrugging Takuya's hand off.
"It was for history class Koji. You'd think he'd have a few stories to tell... Bah, who cares? We've got some sweet teeth to endulge! Follow me."
Takuya was already marching off down the street, leaving Koji standing flat-footed. He turned around to address Tomoyo and Retsu.
"Seems like he's in a good mood now. Come on. He'll be halfway to Hokkaido if we don't catch up to him."
