Lunch Meeting.

Tick, tick, tick, tick.
The young Otomo's expression was most telling. Concerned, definitely. Worried? Perhaps. Anxious? Considering what had happened mere hours ago, he had every right to be. He double checked his wristwatch to make sure it was still in working order. Was she coming? Or did she merely humor him, so as not to hurt his feelings? After all, Kyou did mention she was interested in someone else. That someone, whom Koji was familiar with, was a person who had indirectly kept Koji from doing what he had done earlier; confessed his feelings for the elder Fujibayashi twin. It was their third year, Koji knew he would live with the regret of never taking a chance once they graduated. So, he took it. The result was... Well, he was waiting to see if Kyou would actually turn up with her sister. He didn't see a reason why she wouldn't. Kyou wasn't the type of person to brush someone off like that. Was she?
Kyou had agreed to meet him for lunch, to get to know each other better. Naturally, Kyou brought along Ryou, as it was rather odd for the two, who had only just truly met hours ago. It was perfectly understandable. Granted, Koji would never bring Jun with him to something like this. He'd end up embarrassing his sibling somehow. Koji pondered the possible topics of discussion. He knew Ryou well enough, she was his class rep, and , hopefully, could, or could have already told Kyou a little about him. He'd find out if they shared similar goals in life, similar interests, such as music, or sports. Those would be good ice breakers, wouldn't they?
Again, his eyes shot down to his watch, Barely two minutes had passed since the lunch bell had rang. Two minutes since he had darted like a thing possessed out of the classroom, down the hall, the stairs, and outside. He had picked a nice, quiet spot outside, where the three could eat without a multitude of prying eyes. He knew how rumors spread like wildfire in this school. The last thing he wanted, was for one regarding either of the Fujibayashi sisters, and himself, to rear it's head. If it circulated that perhaps one or the other sister was dating Koji... That would not bode well. Ryou was easily embarrassed by such things, and Kyou's temperamental nature, the stuff of legends on campus. One usually followed another, as Koji had observed, when Kyou had come to her sister's aid on many occasions whilst she was being harassed. He didn't want to upset either of them by picking an obvious spot, inviting the kindling for those rumor wildfires.
His heart was beating. It was unlike him to get so nervous. It happened earlier today when he slipped the letter into Kyou's locker, and was caught, red-handed. Stammering. Shuffling. Unable to maintain direct contact. One would think he was smitten with the girl. Truthfully, Koji did not know if his feelings were real, or just simple infatuation. He told himself he'd get over this, and settle his nerves, like he did when he finally came clean, and was honest with the girl. Finally, Koji sat himself down, and popped the lid off of his bento box, taking in a whiff of the pickled vegetables, and the slightly overpowering scent of catfish. He did, what he always did in a situation like this, something to sooth his nerves. He recited guitar chords in his head, as well as finger placement. It was very effective, and it did tend to take his mind off things.

OC: Barging in. Seems like Kyou hasn't replied anyway... sorry if I'm intruding. He looked like he was waiting for someone, Ayumu observed.
How did he find his music-loving senpai? Well, knowing Ayumu, he never really actively sought people out (though at times he sort-of did so, wishing to find Furukawa-senpai... though he was still mostly aided by happenstance...), but stumbled upon them because he liked to wander.
He had quite enough time, since the teacher whose class was before the break had dismissed them early, and the Mizukami was still quite far from hungry. Besides, the quirky boy had a tendency to drift into these sort of places subconsciously; simple, tranquil places, those not often preferred by the general school population.
He had actually been surprised when Otomo-senpai... no, he had told him to call him Koji, so Koji-san, had come rushing into this quaint corner, looking more harried than a mouse being chased by a sadistic cat. He could almost count the times the older boy had his eyes check his watch.
Ayumu being Ayumu, a curiosity welled up within him. What could Kojiro be so perturbed about, so serious about? He recounted the times they had met; he seemed like a carefree enough person, who liked music and playing the guitar, and, and... there was that time that he was trying to write a poem. He was writing it for someone... Ayumu knocked his head a bit. He was being unnecessarily forgetful, again. He really did have a bunch of bad habits to knock off.
Well, whoever that someone is... the kouhai theorized that that person must be involved in this incident, which had but just begun brewing. It looked like he would be a witness... well, if they would allow him. The gallivanter was, suffice to say, very, very interested. A different appetite had been triggered in him, for lunch. He did hope they would allow him to linger around. Maybe he could get some pointers on how to approach Furukawa-senpai.
Then again, they could refuse him... it looked like a private matter. Or it could be something totally unrelated; he didn't exactly know every nook and cranny of his senpai's personality, and there might be other things to make him so... unsettled.
He had not noticed him; people didn't usually do so, and he had never really figured why. He has been deliberating approaching him; he was hesitating because it might just add to his anxiety.
Still, he was here, and it should be polite to at least appear and greet the person, since he was, at the very least, an acquaintance. He shouldn't be rudely spying; spying was best done upfront. Yes, that was right. With that, the second year made up his mind.
"Anou... Koji-san..." he announced, revealing himself. He lazily raised his hand to wave, taking slow, but large steps, towards his frantic-looking friend. He'd gone off... no turning back. He could confirm if what he was thinking is true... if Koji would tell him... and if it was true, maybe he could wish him a little luck. A little luck always helped.
"How are you?"

Being as alert as a bird of prey, Koji was on the watch for the lavender-haired girl, and her twin sister. He didn't quite expect Ayumu to appear. He was surprised. But as the younger student approached, he loosened up.
"Oh, hi there Mizukami-san." He called, bending his forearm up to wave back. Ayumu was quite the helpful person, and rather kind. He was thoughtful enough to inquire as to how he was doing. Indeed it must've looked strange to passing observers to see Koji endlessly pacing around like a thing possessed. He answered quite to the point.
"Fujibayashi-san should be here soon. We were supposed to be eating lunch with her sister." Koji explained, his reason for pacing, and watch-checking become clear. He was uncharacteristically nervous around Kyou. Perhaps this shared lunchtime would help him get over his nervousness, and of course help the two to get better acquainted with one another.
"She should be here," he repeated, tapping his foot to occupy himself before he started circling like a vulture, "and that help you gave me with my poem. It helped a lot. Kyou knows how I feel now, so we work from there."
It was easier said than done. There was one critical factor standing between Koji, and a possible romantic relationship with Kyou. Tomoya. A quick pep talk had convinced him to fight for Kyou, and not simply let her be happy with Okazaki, and go on with his life, musing occasionally on what might have been. There was no reason why Koji couldn't make the elder Fujibayashi twin just as happy as his school-skipping classmate, he simply needed the chance to show her that. Despite the theoretical 'rivalry;, Koji had made the decision to join the Drama Club, to learn the correct stage mentality, and work up a decent manner for the possibility of live performances. Led by Furukawa-san, whom Tomoya was helping, Koji, silently hoped there was something blossoming between the two, leaving no "critical factors" between he, and Kyou Fujibayashi. Though Koji didn't like that line of thinking, it was always there, pestering him to play matchmaker, and capitalize on it.
His eyes returned to face his slow-ticking wristwatch, chiming out the seconds until Kyou would arrive. Tick, tick, tick. It wasn't broken, or slow... At least, he didn't think it was slow. Before he lost himself in his train of thought, Kyou being a person that was very much on his mind often, Koji returned Ayumu's inquiry.
"Still, I'm well. You've caught me at a bad time though. I didn't say to Fujibayashi-san, that I'd be bringing a guest." He answered, displaying his characteristic friendly smile. He considered Ayumu a friend, junior or not. He hated the stigma of seniors associating with juniors or freshmen. A great deal of the freshmen had more integrity than some of the seniors, turning their noses up at people like Tomoyo Sakagami, or even fellow seniors, such as the infamous Youhei Sunohara. Regardless of their reputations, both were, underneath said reputations good people at heart. Why should they, or any other younger student be treated as second-class citizens? Still, as he had mentioned, he wasn't bringing a guest, or friends. Not to Kyou, or her sister's knowledge at least.
"We can catch up later if that's okay? I'm stopping by the library after classes to get some reference material." He added, hoping that he wasn't ignoring Ayumu by suggesting he take his leave for the time being.

"If you are going to insist that I call you Koji, Otomo-senpai, then call me Ayumu." the intruder remarked, playfully. Even if the statement was delivered a little jokingly, Ayumu meant it; he did not like calling people's first names when they were calling him just his last name. It made him feel a little impolite.
Still, he was happy; Kojiro-san had recognized him, and had seemed okay enough with his appearance. He hoped he was a welcome distraction. Thinking and talking to oneself was all good introspection, but like all things, it can be bad in large doses. He should know.
The other boy was rather quick to explain just what he was doing here. "Fujibayashi?" He said, absentmindedly, even as the older boy explained. How could he have forgotten such a famous (or was it infamous?) individual in this campus? Did he really notice that when he was helping Koji write the poem? He scratched his head.
"I'm not really sure if I helped enough with the poem... but okay." Still, people liked who they liked, and the older Fujibayashi-senpai was, he had to admit, lively and beautiful, despite her rather violent tendencies. People in love are quick to ignore certain things, he surmised. Perhaps Koji-san was ready for a lifetime of dodging (and failing to dodge) various books.
"Lunch has just started, Koji-san." he commented. Koji's sentences were a little heavy and pointed; 'Supposd to be'... 'Should be'... His guests were nowehere near late, as far as Ayumu was concerned, though of course he understood why Koji was a little worked up. Besides, if I were Koji-san, I would be content to do the waiting... making women wait doesn't feel all that right to me. "They'll come." he said, simply.
"I'm well enough." he said, as a reply to Koji's last question, out of policy, but he was in a good state, he believed, though it could get better. Kojiro-san is moving up his little battlefront... he thought. I wonder if I could be so forward... I wonder if he has plans after this. There were many things... that he still didn't know. Perhaps, indeed, Kojiro was older than him, in that regard.
He didn't have any plans yet regarding his infatuation, maybe because he didn't like making plans about it, as it would feel so... rational, and in that way, false. Still, it was not like he was going to accomplish something just by floating around, even though that was his routine. He wondered how he could change the pace, what he should do... if he should emulate this senpai of his.
"Oh, okay." Ayumu said, in reply to Kojiro's statement. He had been hoping he would be able to watch the dialogue, but he guessed it was one of his bad habits again. He didn't give much regard to privacy, unless it was regarding himself, Furukawa-san (though sometimes he was sorely tempted), and his family.
He usually had to be told. He grinned sheepishly; he had been looking forward to a face-to-face encounter with the popular Fujibayashi, but it looked like he wouldn't exactly be allowed to. Well, I've been lucky enough to have met the famous Sakagami-san, once... I shouldn't be pushing my luck. He hoped he had done some good in relieving Koji's anxiety.
"I guess I'll wish you luck." the underclassman stated, grinning. As lazily as he had come, he started to saunter away, waving his hand in the same slow careless fashion as he had when he had approached Koji. After a second or so, he put his hand down, and in the upperclassman's eyes vanished, as he turned a corner.

Aha~ I'm trying out smaller text and orange dialogue this time.
"I think I'm gonna need it Ayumu..." Koji whispered, as his friend walked out of sight. He decided to lean against a nearby tree, gluing his eyes to his watch. A mere two minutes had passed since the lunch bell rang, and he could hear the collective voices of other students flocking out of the building, on their own quests for lunch. Kyou and Ryou were in separate classes, so it stood to reason one would have to go to the other, and the situation would be explained. had it not already been discussed. Being in Ryou's class, it never occurred to him to accompany her to 3-E to meet Kyou, or remain in 3-D for her to come to them. Given how close the twins were, it had probably already been discussed. He wondered what his class rep, Ryou could be thinking of it all.
Perhaps he was being paranoid, or afraid again of simply being humored by the object of his affections. He'd had quite a week to get to this point. It all stemmed from speaking with Rumi. He was so busy working on his pentatonic scales, that he'd let slip he liked a girl. After some intense pestering, Rumi had pried the name Kyou Fujibayashi from her young friend. It was she that gave Koji the motivation to tell the girl how he felt, and, as an added bonus, she would not stop teaching him how to play guitar. Rumi also suggested that Koji write a love poem, as girls were apparently unable to resist poetry.
"Yeah... Thanks Kono-chan..." Koji grumbled under his breath. tossing his arms together. It didn't exactly make Kyou weak at the knees when she read it. He suspected she was probably trying her hardest from buckling with laughter, then going misty-eyed over the romantic notion of the poem. Despite putting hard work, and all his emotion into crafting it, he felt rather foolish about the whole thing. Still. It seemed to have worked out in the end, Kyou was willing to be friends with the boy. She had even agreed to eating lunch, albeit with her sister, from whom he was sure he could learn more about Kyou from. He was starting to regret suggesting Ayumu meet him at a later time. Though they'd only met a few times, he considered him a friend. He truly wished Takuya was able to come to Hikarizaka. No-one else, save for his cousin Sho, knew Koji better. Besides, Sho had a knack for being blunt about things. He didn't need that. And the Fujibayashi twins certainly didn't need to know everything about him, summed up into one long sentence, courtesy of the junior student. Sho was more likely to caution the elder twin, being very protective of her close family members, such as Koji, and Jun. He got the feeling Sho would be biting off considerably more than she could chew with Kyou. Her throwing arm was incredibly well-known.
Koji shook his head, dragging out of the pondering clouds. He was over-thinking the situation again. He resumed reciting guitar chords, mentally sounding them out, whilst miming the positioning with his hands, strumming away at invisible strings.

"Dangit, dangit, dangit, aw, hell, damn it all!"
Kyou was muttering furiously under her breath as she calmly stalked back to her classroom, remembering that even after she'd talked to her sister, she'd forgot her own lunch in her room anyway. That, however, wasn't the reason Kyou was so apparently high-strung about something; no, it was the fact that her sister had, unfortunately, had other lunch plans. Now, it wasn't as if Kyou was mad with her sister or anything - Ryou did have a right, after all, to have her own life and do what she wanted to - but simply the fact that she'd wanted someone there to at least alleviate the awkwardness...
"No choice but to just humour it as best I can. If it gets awkward, oh well, I'll come up with something." Earlier this morning she'd run into none other than Otomo Kojiro... Whom she'd caught trying to stuff a paper into her foot locker. Well... Apparently he'd been trying to woo her with a poem or something, a poem which she sadly found quite funny. Of course, to avoid sounding like a cold jerk, she'd offered to eat lunch with Koji, at his request...
But she hadn't intended to have lunch alone with him, mostly for fear of rumours spreading around. Not that she couldn't deal with some rumours here and there - she did have a tendency to shut people up particularly well - but the fact that they existed in the first place was never a good thing. As a result, she'd thought the idea to bring her sister and Fuko along was good enough to squash them... And just make it look like Koji had made a new friend or two. Or three, for that matter.
Needless to say, she had little choice now, and it would have been rude to completely ditch Koji after she'd agreed to eat lunch with him. They'd collectively decided to meet in the courtyard; it was nice outdoors, so there was no reason why they couldn't enjoy their lunch in the nice outdoor areas. Stopping to grab her lunch from her bag, Kyou pondered: could it really be that bad? Sure, it was blatantly obvious that Koji had some sort of affection for her, something which she felt a bit weirded out by (for whatever reason deemed she should feel odd about it) but needless to say... She couldn't just be a complete jerk.
Walking down the hallway towards the doors to the courtyard, Kyou briefly checked out the window. Yep... Koji was sitting there, all right. It appeared he was talking to someone, though it seemed their conversation was over, as the other boy left. It wasn't someone she recognized, so she paid no mind to it, entering the courtyard with her head held high. Making her way towards Koji, she was quick to explain the lack of... Additional presences.
"My sister couldn't make it; seems to me she had other lunch plans. So I guess it's just the two of us after all." She tried to appear confident, and it ought to have worked. She could tell that Koji seemed to be a bit nervous; had he expected her to appear almost instantly after the bell had rang? If so, he was pretty sorely mistaken. She wasn't exactly the type to rush out of class, as she did have a few friends in her class that she would have liked to chat with for a few. Appearing as nonchalant as possible, Kyou carefully sat down, settling her legs sideways beside herself - as she was wearing a skirt - and setting her lunch down beside her.

Perhaps a few synapses hadn't quite fired correctly inside of Koji's brain. Perhaps that led to it failing to compute, and process the new information he'd received. His former concerns were washed away when Kyou arrived, though, strangely alone. But now? A whole set of new ones had beached themselves in his mind. Ryou couldn't make it? No, no... He must have misheard. Yes. That was it.
No. That wasn't it. That wasn't it at all. There was nothing wrong with his synapses. He heard her perfectly. Kyou Fujibayashi would be eating lunch with him. Alone. It made his heart leap into his mouth. His sense of time for the past few minutes was shot to hell. What could have possessed him to think that running all the way there, and then spending the next few minutes pacing like a crazed, caged animal would speed it up? The girl was very popular. She obviously had friends to speak to, and of course, a sister. Reminding himself to breathe after mentally berating himself, Koji chuckled half-heartedly.
"I'm sorry I didn't wait for you, or with your sister in our class. I guess I got a little bit ahead of myself."
'Got a bit ahead of yourself?' Dammit Otomo... You'd have broken the world record for sprinting had you been going any faster trying to get here. It's not impressing anyone... Least of all Kyou.
Composing himself a little better, Koji sat himself down in front of Kyou, and popped the lid off of his lunch. Always a simple dish. He wished he was a little better at cooking. Beyond arranging table scraps as nicely as he could, and eating raw food, there wasn't much he could, genuinely prepare and cook. He picked away at some food for a few minutes. He'd thought of a great many things to say beforehand, but now he was quiet. About as quiet as a person could be.
He was genuinely pleased to be eating lunch with her, even if it wasn't visible in his expression, or his lack of eagerness to speak to the girl. He didn't want to screw up and do something embarrassing again. He wasn't going to lose her to Tomoya, so screwing up, was not an option. Kyou's affections for the delinquent student seemed, for the time being, to be unrequited, so perhaps he had a chance to have his own feelings returned. He would fight hard for that moment. He finally managed to cough out a feeble opening question after chewing, and promptly swallowing a chunk of catfish.
"So... Fujibayashi-san. How was your day? I mean, other than this morning and all... I'm sure it must've... Oh wow... It's really warm out here" He asked, trying hard to avoid looking at anywhere but at Kyou. Trying hard not to choke on his words, he cleared his throat and tried again.
"Sorry... I should rephrase that. How are you?"
There. That was better. If only slightly. At least he wasn't stuttering like an idiot. He'd have to work on not fumbling with his words though. Perhaps it was simply being in the presence of the girl he liked that caused him to act as such, for he didn't seem to display these traits when speaking to someone else.

"I'm sorry I didn't wait for you, or with your sister in our class. I guess I got a little bit ahead of myself."
"And what's the big deal in that? I had a few little errands I had to run at the start of lunch anyway, possibly including punting Sunohara clear across the schoolyard. For a clearly viable reason, I assure you," Kyou replied with a dignified nod. Why wouldn't she have a reason to punt Sunohara across the schoolyard? His existence and presence alone was enough to grant that. That little pest was like a rat that got into everything and left you nothing, infesting everything he came near. He was definitely like a rodent. And kind of looked like roadkill after she was done with him.
As they sat down, Kyou stared at Koji's... Rather bland lunch. Well, it wasn't all that bad, but it just didn't look like it was something interesting, and his picking at it the way he did only added to that. Today she'd packed some of the leftovers from last night, including some leftover takoyaki, battered chicken, and mixed vegetables. As well, she'd added a few rolled omelettes, some miniature onigiri, and a bit of fish-free sushi (California rolls).
"So... Fujibayashi-san. How was your day? I mean, other than this morning and all... I'm sure it must've... Oh wow... It's really warm out here" She could have easily laughed at his blundering. It was almost identical to the way her sister blundered sometimes, though with him it just made him look like a bit of a dork. With Ryou, it just made the fact that she was extremely shy a bit more obvious. He seemed to be trying really, really hard to be formal and nice; had he forgotten who he was dealing with? It wasn't like this was a date lunch or anything, they were just sitting outside and enjoying some food, along with a bit of sunshine.
"Sorry... I should rephrase that. How are you?" Quickly hiding the ghost of a smirk across her face, she took the moment to actually focused. He'd managed to recover... Somehow. Maybe he'd remembered just who he was sitting with and realized that Kyou wasn't exactly the shy type, nor was she about to change her ways, either.
"Quite well, actually, Sunohara found another reason to take a foot to the face, ran into Tomoyo Sakagami and Kichiro Haru this morning for a quick chat about some stuff, and hassled Tomoya about making a point to stop causing trouble for my sister for being so late all the time. In other words, nothing extravagant or out of the ordinary." Pointedly she took a bite of her lunch, still eyeing the boring lunch that Koji was still picking at, perhaps nervously now.
"...That's kind of a bland lunch," she commented, albeit rather bluntly. Well, it was; she couldn't help but point it out. She wondered if he'd put that together himself... At least it looked edible, but it just didn't look very interesting. Opening the second small box she'd brought containing the sushi and miniature onigiri, she held the box out to him. "Care for some?" She didn't let on that she'd made it, though she might consider that portion later on...

Yohei Sunohara. That name was synonymous with trouble, and trouble of the worst kind at that in this school. I didn't consider myself one to judge someone like that, but Sunohara-san didn't exactly do anything to dispel that synonym. It's easy enough to see why most of our fellow student body avoids him like the plague. I sit two seats over from him in class, and whilst Okazaki-san is either somewhere between consciousness and unconsciousness, or sound asleep, Sunohara's often dozed off, making a worse noise than a backed-up toilet.
As far as I'm concerned, I just hope he mends his ways before he gets himself hurt. He comes back from lunch, covered in gauze bandages, or clutching an ice pack to a bruised area. He just can't seem to leave the junior student Sakagami-san alone.
Just how on earth Tomoyo put up with it for this long without snapping him in two was beyond me. He always came back for more. Was he some kind of masochist or something far more disturbing? I didn't know. What I did know, was that even animals knew not to touch an electric fence twice. That spoke volumes about Sunohara-san's common sense. Or perhaps he had oodles of it, and his encounters with Sakagami-san had rattled his brain a little. Tomoyo was quite a popular girl, pleasant, caring, and pretty, so perhaps it was a romantic interest? Hmm. Perhaps not. Sunohara was notorious for harassing random girls, and not just Tomoyo, though he, according to the bruises on his face, frequented her more.
"I guess Sunohara's just a glutton for punishment" I added, after Kyou explained to me that she was previously engaged in punting, with good reason, the curious blond across campus. Yep. He was definitely a masochist. Why else would he keep incurring Tomoyo's and Kyou's respective wraths? No human being was dense enough to keep touching the electric fence. My mind clicked. Kichiro Haru... Why'd that name sound familiar? Ah, of course. People were talking about how he, Tomoyo, and Kyou were helping out a freshman by doling out little wooden stars. It had to be Fuko, that strange little girl who gave Furukawa-san and I her wooden starfish as an invitation to wish her sister well at her wedding. I was broken from my train of though by a casual observation from Fujibayashi-san.
"...That's kind of a bland lunch,"
Oh. Of course. My lunch. I'd devoted most of my time last night into, among math homework, the love poem. Frankly it was growing more embarrassing the more I thought about it. I could've just asked her on a date like a normal guy would, instead of... Oh never mind.
"Yeah. I was preoccupied with the... Well, we both know with what." I explained, coughing out a miserable excuse. Gosh, I could feel the heat rise up into my face. Was I blushing? Probably. And then... She held out her lunch to me, offering a portion of food for me. How could I possibly refuse such kindness?
"S-sure. That'd be nice. Thank you." I answered, extending my arm out to the bento box, picking up the minute-sized onigiri with my chopsticks. It certainly smelled heavenly. Popping it into my mouth, I found it was both wonderfully savory and salty on account of the salt and vinegar used. Had Kyou made this? If so, I could add "Good cook," no, no, no... "Great cook!" among "Beautiful, caring, hardworking, loyal and strong-willed."
"Oh wow... It's really good. Did you make this yourself?" I began, after chewing had ceased, and the delectable portion of food was now making it's way into my stomach. Truly, I was impressed. If this had came from the Fujibayashi kitchen, and made by the hands of Kyou herself, then I began to suspect... Was there such a thing as a girl who was too perfect?
