”Okay, just one more pin and…”
Nagisa was standing on her toes, trying to make sure to get the last pin on this poster before the massive rush of students came to the cafeteria. Her height made it a little hard to get the parts of the poster at the top. But just a little more and….there, the pin was in. Stepping back, Nagisa took a look over at her handiwork. It was a poster advertising the Drama Club. It was filled to the brim with the Dango Daikazoku; every spare inch that wasn’t wording had an image of them. She was even able to get some markers and color them, adding a vibrant, colorful existence to the poster. Unfortunately, this was the only one she made like that; it was so time-extensive she had to keep it black and white for the rest. Still, the cafeteria was sure to get the most attention.
The fact that she was making this poster and putting it up, however, was something she was surprised to be doing herself. Apparently Tomoya had more of an effect on her than she had originally planned. She really couldn’t understand or explain it though. It was just that when he was around, she could feel more confident in herself, that she wasn’t completely weak. It was a weird feeling considering he would routinely say he was doing this cause he had nothing better to do. Still, she knew that deep down he was a good person, and a strong person as well. Maybe she was just borrowing his strength for herself?
”I hope everyone likes the poster, though I’m not sure how many might recognize the Dango Daikazou?” Nagisa said, gesturing into a thinking pose as she tried to think of anything else for her to do. All she had to do was hope people showed up at the question and answer session she had set up for the club. Hopefully someone would show up to it, and more importantly, that she would be able to answer any of the questions they asked. She had been working on an introduction for herself, but would that be enough to keep up her confidence?
”Hello, I’m Nagisa Furukawa of Class 3-B and I would like to restart the Drama Club. I hope we can all be friends.”
Would that work as a good introduction? Did it sound too cheesy? Getting all worked up, Nagisa started taking a deep breath. She just needed to relax. Everything would turn out all right, right? Hopefully she could get Tomoya to come and provide emotional support for it all. For now, however, she was going to have to rely on her old techniques. As the crowds began to arrive, Nagisa could be heard whispering to herself, ”Anpan.”

Lunchtime. It seemed quite uneventful today. Koji had decided yesterday was much more enjoyable. He had gotten to spend some time getting to know Kyou a little better. He had been waiting in line for some time now. It seemed like a hassle to stand in such a long queue for a carton of fruit juice, only, he had forgotten to pack one himself, and now he stood, idly as the line slowly trickled across the floor, until he could pay for his drink.
"What a nuisance..." He grumbled as the straw tore off the side of the carton. Poking it through the foil hole, he quenched his thirst, washing down his food nicely with the mixed fruit beverage. He checked the time. There was still quite some time until classes restarted. Where could he kill his time? Return to class and sleep? Head over to the music classes and listen to something, provided there were people playing instruments. Sipping frugaly at the shrinking carton, his eyes scanned the cafeteria to see if he could spot someone from his class, or at least his year. He could, however have his fortune read by Ryou, but she was probably already occupied with fortune telling. Then, a splash of color caught his eyes. His optician had given him a corrective contact lens to wear in his left eye. It helped his affected eye distinguish things better, though it made the lighter coloration of it, more pronounced. A poison challice it seemed. As a result, both his eyes could take in the brightness of the poster pinned onto the wall some distance from him. He couldn't tell from this distance, but it looked like the colorful circles were supposed to be rice dumplings. His mind worked hard, trying to figure out why they seemed familiar to them. Was it an older T.V show his brother watched, and occassionally mentioned to him as a small child? His curiousity drew him to the poster, and to the girl who stood in front of it.
"Drama Club." Koji said, reading the poster aloud. Wasn't his classmate Tomoya helping out the Drama Club? He had heard it was in need of revival, though it desperately needed members or else it would be for naught. The juice carton contracted into a mishapen hunk of paper and foil. Empty. Koji didn't know much about the performing arts, though he knew he wasn't an actor. He had played pretend as a youngster, but beyond the games of his childhood, he became more interested in music, than in theater. The two usually went hand in hand, like in opera. He didn't know if there was anything he could do to help the Drama Club. but he felt he had to say something, other than blankly staring at the poster, and no doubt unnerving the girl in front of it, whom he assumed was a member of the club, even if it wasn't directly related to the club itself.
"That's a very colorful poster. Those little things, they look familiar to me. Are they... Rice dumplings?" He asked, pointing the straw end of his crushed carton at the poster. They certainlly looked like dumplings. They even had little eyes drawn on, which suggested they were supposed to be alive, anthropomorphized as many cartoon charaters were for young children, leading Koji to assume they were perhaps from a children's show as he had suspected. Was this then, a clever psychological message hinting that the Drama Club would rekindle the child within, and return to the youthful days of playing pretend?

Lost in trying to gain some confidence, Nagisa almost missed when someone came up from behind to read the poster. As soon as this person said “Drama Club”, however, Nagisa finally snapped to attention. Turning around, she found herself facing a boy, from the looks of it third year as well. Busy working on some juice. She waited patiently for him to either further question it, or to at least finish this juice. Mostly, though, that was just an excuse for her mind to work on figuring something to say. She hadn’t expected to show such interest immediately, so she wasn’t completely prepared to say something about it. Still, she kept up a polite smile while the guy thought it over.
His first thought? Calling the Dango Daikazoku rice dumplings. Well, to be fair, many people had sort of forgotten them already; that was how fads worked. So she could forgive him for not noticing immediately. Of course, that meant she was going to have to correct him, and that made her feel better. It was much easier to discuss the Dango Daikazoku than it was to discuss herself or the club.
”Actually, they’re the Dango Daikazoku, one of my most favorite things in the world. They were big a couple years ago, so I don’t mind if you didn’t recognize them immediately.” she said, unsurprisingly enthused about it. Still, they were going to have to get to business soon, and after this point it was obvious she was more nervous and unsure of herself.
”Oh, uhm, were you interested in joining the Drama Club? I’m Furukawa Nagisa, Class-3B. I-I’m the club president, or at least I will be when it’s revived. I’ll do my best to answer any questions that you may have about it.”
Okay, that was a good introduction right? She got her name across, politely asked if he was interested, told him her position, and left room for any questions that he might have about it. Sure, she probably shouldn’t have added the thing about the “revived” part, since that implied it had died. Though since he was a third year, he probably figured that out already. At least she was being honest, and maybe they would be more attracted to the idea of joining a club from the ground upwards? Some people were like that after all. Whatever the case, Nagisa fidgeted with her hands a little, hoping that this little meeting would go well.

So, this girl was Furukawa Nagisa. Koji considered himself informed, and he had indeed heard of the Drama Club's dilema. They had no members, save for the president, and no advisor. It was dying, floundering out of water. It seemed such a shame to see it vanish. There were whisperings floating around, mostly wild assumptions taken from the loud rantings of his classmate, Sunohara, that their fellow classmate, Tomoya, was helping to keep the club on it's feet, and was in fact dating the president. The same rumors he secretly wished were true. He noticed that Nagisa was quite nervous, her voice cracking a little in mid-sentence. He could understand it must've been difficult, so he gave the club president a reassuring smile.
"If I'm going to be honest, I don't really have much interest in theatre, but if it'll help you and your club out, I'll gladly let you put down my name to help you make up the numbers. I wouldn't mind stopping by sometime, my lunch break is usually uneventful."
Koji didn't consider himself terribly chivalrous, sweeping in to mediate a conflict, stop bullying, or assisting those in need, he was simply raised to be a kind, honest person. He didn't think of asking for his favors to be returned. He thought it hypocritical of his father to teach such things, when he himself had been dishonest, leaving his mother, to find another woman. His stepfather, Ken, at least had more integrity than being a hypocrite. Now was not really an appropriate time to dwell on the past, or dredge up bad memories.
Sadly, Koji did not suddenly turn a lightbulb on inside his head, upon hearing that these colorful little shapes' true name. It was possible that perhaps his brother, or one of his friends would know about the Dango Daikazoku. Koji snapped his fingers, having forgotten to introduce himself.
"Sorry, I forgot to tell you who I was, I don't know where my manners are today. I'm Otomo Kojiro of Class-3D. It's nice to meet you Furukawa-san," Koji annouced with a small bow of the head, "I think it's good that you're trying hard to bring back the Drama Club. Something worth fighting for if you really love theatre."
Though trying to keep a high-school club alive was not as grandiose as he was making it out to be, Koji felt it admirable, that a lone soul was working hard to ensure that something survived, no matter how trivial or important. It was inspiring. Very few people fought for things in this day and age, content to simply drift through life, quite carefree. Like Nagisa, Koji was fighting for something important to him, though he would be much too embarassed to mention it out loud.

Nagisa looked down for a second when the boy said he didn’t have an interest in theatre, but looked confused when he said that he would join up to get her the numbers for the club, maybe stop by. But, that would be cheating, wouldn’t it? If she was going to start up the club, she was going to play it fair and honest. Adding in a person who wasn’t going to actually BE a member just didn’t feel right. It was nice of him to offer it of course, and it did make her feel better about all this. Still, she couldn’t start up the club by deception like that.
”I appreciate the offer, b-but I’m going to have to say no. While you’re free to visit any time you want, it almost feels like cheating to claim you a member when you’re not really going to be in it. I-I want to start up the Drama Club honestly, but thanks for the offer.”
Hopefully the boy would understand what she was getting at and not get mad. Sure, Tomoya would probably be mad at her later for rejecting the offer, but if she was going to start up the club, she was going to have to do it honest and right. If the boy wasn’t interested in theatre, then she wasn’t going to force him into it. Now if he offered to do some of the other stuff for theatre, like a set designer or something, maybe it would be fine. But stopping by for lunch? It’d make her feel like cheating, and the Student Council probably wouldn’t like it either….
On a more positive note, she at least got a chance to show off her knowledge about the Dango Daikazoku. However, it seemed it didn’t resonate with him, so she just went into an awkward silence. Hopefully her enthusiasm hadn’t turned the boy off from talking with her about the Drama Club. All of a sudden, he snapped his fingers as he remembered he hadn’t introduced himself. Nagisa hadn’t noticed, but of course had to be polite.
”A pleasure to meet you too Otomo-san.”
His next comment brought up another odd point she had to make. Admittedly, she wasn’t in this for the love of theatre. It was more that she always admired people like actors, able to stand in front of others, pouring out their heart and soul and emotions for them. That was probably the reason she wanted to do it, to become a person like that instead of the weak, shy person she was now. Though to be fair, she also sort of liked the idea of theatre, even if she’s never seen a play before…
”To be honest, I don’t really know if I’d love theatre or not. I’ve never seen a play before,” she replied, nervously smiling with a small laugh,”I’ve just always admired the idea of being an actor, being able to get in front of people with no fear and pour out their heart and soul…”

If there was one thing Koji couldn't fault, it was Nagisa's integrity. Not wishing to sustain her club using names only, but with genuine people who wanted to act, to perform. It was quite the problem. He suspected Tomoya was elsewhere, if he was indeed helping out the 3B student that was. It was little more than hearsay, many pointing out Tomoya's delinquent nature, but even rumors held a shred of truth in them. Even if he were only doing it to get something out of it, at least he was doing it, and not being overly judgemental.
"Admiration's got to count for something. Most of the big actors these days probably started out with the same admiration. I'm sure of it. Hey, there's bound to be at least a handful of people who want to be big movie stars. They'll see this poster and come right to you." Koji reassured. He was disappointed. Not with Nagisa's understandable rejection of his offer, but with himself. She made a good point. It would be like cheating. All the other clubs had gotten to where they were by getting their members fair and square. No exploiting loopholes, or leaving names. Without the head count, it was likely the drama club would die quietly. It was unfortunate, but even feigning interest in theatre, or indeed any acting medium would be dishonest.
Tapping his foot lightly, he fished around inside his head for a suitable response. If honesty was the case, then trying to keep Nagisa's club alive with this half-baked method of his was out of the question. Koji could think of no decent compromise however. He didn't have a real interest in theatre, so joining would be pointless. Nagisa, probably wouldn't budge with his idea suggestion either. He did want to help her out, at the very least with a small gesture. She wasn't exactly brimming with confidence, save for her brief explanation of the poster characters, whom Koji now knew as the Dango Daikazoku. That was quite alright, people were different, and not everyone had confidence to spare. In the end, Koji opted to offer assistance in another form.
"Is there anything else I can do to help? Pass out recruitment leaflets? Try and find you an advisor? I know the Student Council can be very pedantic about those things..."
One certainty in this school was that the Student Council were strict followers of rules. Nothing was let past them. Though it was, for the most part, a good thing, it caused problems for more than a few people. Nagisa was one of them. Koji had to admit that sticking so tightly to the rules was not beneficial to anyone. If the principle for bending the rules slightly was decent, then, in Koji's mind, it should be acceptable. It was almost a form of stoicism in a sense.

Well, it was good that there was at least one person who had confidence in the club’s revival. Even with Tomoya’s help, Nagisa wasn’t completely sure it was going to succeed. Still, she couldn’t quit, and even if it didn’t revive, well, she would become stronger through the experience, right? And he had a point; there had to be some people here interested in making the big times. Then again, if that were the case, a private school like this may not have been the best choice; after all, it was made for going to college. Still, talent was everywhere, and if the club existed before meant there had to be people around here who were interested right?
”Thanks for the confidence, that helps a lot to know there are people wanting me to succeed.” she responded, offering a smile. She never would have thought to have run into two different people offering to help her like this. First Okazaki-san and then Koji. Only way it could be better would be if they were interested in acting and could join in the club. But she had to play it fair and get people actively interested in the club.
With the awkward silence that followed, Nagisa looked around to see if there was anyone else showing interest in the club. Her wandering was interrupted by Koji speaking again, asking if there was anything else that he could do to help her out like flyers or anything. Hmm, she was afraid about the fliers; the posters were already pushing it. Maybe word-of-mouth would be best. And she hadn’t thought at all about the advisor thing. Was there a teacher here who would be willing to do that? And of course, the Student Council. She wasn’t familiar with the rules related to clubs, so having someone who knew about that would be good. Wasn’t Tomoya good friends with his class representative, uhm, Ryou or something?
”Well, I guess you could try and spread news about it word of mouth. I’d hate for you to get in trouble about passing flyers and stuff though. And if you know of any teachers who’d be available for advising a club, I guess that would be good. But please, don’t feel like you have to do any of this.” She added, making sure Koji knew none of this was required. It would bother her if he felt like he owed her something; she only wanted people to help her of their own free will.

"It's fine. I don't mind at all. To tell the truth, I don't actually have very much to do during lunch. My friends... Well, friend, goes to school across town. I will ask a teacher for you. Takeru-sensei's an art teacher I think." Replied Koji, waving off Nagisa's concerns. Replaying the memory in his head, and it seemed quite sad that he had nothing to do during his lunch breaks. It was his choice however, standing up to a bunch of nusiance bullies when no-one else wanted to. It left him with very few oppertunities to make friends. Not to mention the trouble it landed him in. Trouble... Yes. He seemed to be good at getting himself into it. He was motivated to help out, but as Furukawa had mentioned, the possibility of trouble were he to pass out fliers. It was unfortunate, but he couldn't risk another suspension this month, having decided to get his act together, and start letting people follow his example and stand up for himself. It all came back to another girl. The center of his own little universe. He was constantly asking himself "Why?"
Snapping himself out of his wisful daydreams about romantic strolls, and doing better for her sake. Koji moved fluidly again, quickly disposing of his empty juice carton. Koji then bowed, lightly at the waist, towards Nagisa, thanking her for the information, sure that someone would be very willing to join.
"Idon't want to promise you anything, and get your hopes up Furukawa-san, but... I hope to be in a band some day. It's my dream. I don't really think I have a good stage mentality, if that makes any sense. I'm not part of any club, so I'd be willing to join the Drama Club as a genuine member. I'd like to think about it first." It was not much of a saving grace to offer possible membership, but for the time being, it was the best Koji could do, other than spread the word orally, and seek out the art teacher/kickboxing instructor, Takeru-sensei. He would most likely be in his classroom. If he rushed, he could catch him, but running before giving Nagisa a chance to make anything of his new offer would be the height of bad manners. "Never walk away when someone is speaking to you", the advice given to him by his mother, Haruka, and sound advice it was, for Koji stood rooted to the spot.
With himself, and Tomoya assisting, Koji saw no way that the Drama Club wouldn't at least get back on it's feet. It would be with proverbial crutches, but it was better than going into the grave. Despite people branding him a delinquent, Koji felt that Tomoya, though cleary holding onto a great deal of anger, was at heart, a good person. Perhaps by helping out Nagisa, he'd be able to put some of his own demons to rest. Perhaps in helping Nagisa out, Koji himself might be able to take care of his own family problems.

”Well, if it’s no bother to you, that would be very helpful.” Nagisa replied, although not very chipper. It was sort of sad to her that the main reason that he had so much free time during lunch was not having that any friends here at the school. She knew oh so well how that could feel, being a repeating third year and all. All her friends had graduated and moved on, and she was stuck here, not that it was a bad thing. She loved the school after all, and she would never had met Okazaki if she had moved onwards. Still, she could sympathize with Otomo’s situation….
Before she could say anything though, he had started talking again. Nagisa’s mood was instantly lifted as he mentioned that he would think about being a member to help with practicing stage presence for when he becomes a band. Well, that did make sense to her. She obviously was never in a band, but she could see the similarities. The Drama Club would be a good way to get working on getting used to a stage since there really was no other club that did stuff like that, right?
”That would be really great, and I hope you have good luck with being in a band one day. It’s good to have a goal to shoot for.”
With that conversation over and done with, Nagisa realized that she still hadn’t eaten lunch yet because of this conversation. And it seemed Otomo had only a juice box so far. There was bound to be some anpan left still by this point, and the crowds had probably thinned out to a more manageable level. Remembering his earlier comment about not having anyone to eat with, Nagisa felt like she had to ask him to sit with her.
”Otomo-san, did you want to eat lunch with me? I know how it feels to not have many friends since I’m repeating my third year so I just thought we could sit together for lunch….” she replied, courage faltering a little bit by the end as the more personal part of her reasoning was brought up. She just never did well bothering other people with her troubles, even minor ones….

Nagisa's offer caught Koji off-guard. He didn't expect her to ask if he would want to eat lunch with her. He managed to collect his scattered thoughts quite quickly. He hadn't given her his word that he would join the Drama Club, but he saw no harm in making a new friend. Though his stint as an altruist up until now, had served to quell several attempts at bullying, perhaps as many as Koji could count on both hands, it had a huge repercussion on how people percieved him, based on rumors, that were, ironically true. He could think, off the top of his head, two people in the entire school he was friends with, and a couple more with whom he was friendly with. A junior, the name of whom currently eluded him, who looked up to him after witnessing one of these situations where he stepped in, to protect a victim of bullying. Then of course there was the elder of th Fujibayashi twins, Kyou, with whom Koji had recently become acquainted with, in the wake of confessing his feelings for her. Now, hopefully he could add the Drama Club president to that list of friends. He hoped Nagisa wasn't offering to eat lunch together because she felt she owed Koji something in return. Being in the Drama Club, and picking up a good 'stage mentality' would be more than enough. It was more than likely this wasn't the case, and that she simply wished to make his acquiantance.
"That's very nice of youFurukawa-san. If you're sure, then yes, that sounds good." He answered, frisking himself for the location of his bento box. The plain rectangular box was squeezed into his inside jacket pocket, which he soon popped out. Though the front pocket was slightly deeper, he had ruined it after his endeavour to post a love letter in Kyou's shoelocker. In shock, Koji had torn through the stitching, resulting in a large hole in the lining, and the absence of a button. His mother was too bogged down with work to help mend it, and Koji knew nothing about sewing, rewarding himself with pierced fingers during his failed attempts. Regardless, he had managed to fit the container, chopsticks and all, into the inside pocket quite snugly. He looked around the cafeteria. The crowds did seem to be disappating. Koji wondered if they were eating their food, or inhaling it, even perhaps eating outside. Evidently there were quite a lot of free tables.
"Furukawa-san, where would you like to eat?" Koji enquired, scanning the room robotically, almost like a periscope on the prowl for enemy battleships. Eating outside would mean fresh air, but on some days, like today, it could be just a little too fresh. The last thing he needed was coming down with a detestable case of the sniffles.

Nagisa stood there for a moment, wondering if the boy would answer her question. He seemed to take his time thinking of an answer, and for a moment Nagisa thought she had gone too far in asking. After all, even if he didn’t have many friends here, didn’t mean he would want to sit with someone that he had just met. He was a kind person, but for some people there was a limit to the kindness. Before she could revoke her asking, however, he answered in the affirmative, alleviating Nagisa of the worries she had of imposing on him. She just watched as he frisked himself over for his bento box, which was oddly placed inside his jacket pocket. Not questioning it though, Nagisa simply awaited his next move.
”Thank you, I hope I’m not imposing. I just need to buy some bread and juice first before we can sit down…”
Looking around at the crowds, she found that the crowd was starting to thin out. It wouldn’t take long at all for her to get the anpan she loved. It was always some of the left over bread, and one of the least popular. It was always available though, and it was her favorite bread offered. There was a reason she would use it to try and encourage herself after all. Juice wouldn’t be an issue to get either; vending machines were all over the place. Still, that meant she would have to leave Otomo for just a minute, and she turned around to give him a quick bow.
”Excuse me for just a moment. It won’t take long.”
With that she rushed to join in what was left the crowds to grab herself the bread. Just as she had expected, there was plenty of anpan left for her to enjoy. Paying the workers the money for it, she carefully took the wrapped bread with her, not wanting to break it. Returning to Otomo, it was time to figure out where exactly the two of them were to sit. There were plenty of tables available, but Nagisa never really ate there. She had been eating with Tomoya in the Club Room, but that was still messy and not really a place to bring a guest too. OH, she thought of a place that they could go.
”Would you mind eating outside in the courtyard? I used to eat there a lot before Okazaki-san began helping me with the club. It’s a really peaceful place to eat.” [/blockquote]

Koji, since his freshman year, had yearned for a group of closely-knit friends. His rather tarnished reputation in his freshman, and junior years had robbed him of that, simply from wanting to do a little good. In hindsight, he could have taken much greater care in choosing when to confront school hooligans. That was in the past. Now, in his final year, it seemed he was slowly starting to make some friends. First, with the brazen Kyou Fujibayashi, though he prayed the two could become more than that, and now, hopefully a new friend could be found with the kindly, if somewhat shy Nagisa Furukawa. He stood, patiently, leaning against the wall, as Nagisa hurriedly joined the whittled-down lunch queue to scoop up one of the many bread items still available to buy. All the main foods had been quickly snapped up, as well Koji knew, when being sandwiched in the crowds as he attempted to buy a certain brand of juice he liked, that was not available at the vending machines/
Only having met Nagisa in person minutes ago, his initial thoughts drifted toward how timid, but kind she was. The whisperings in class regarding her relationship with Tomoya suggested that she seemed to lack a little self-confidence, though Koji could tell that she did manage to pluck up some courage when it was required earlier. It did not mean Koji would've ignored her has she not plucked up courage. He himself mused, that most people would have simply lost interest, and declined if Nagisa could not hold said interest. He mulled over his "maybe" in his head. Joining a music club would've been a good idea in theory. He could develop his musical talents, yes, but they were of little use to him, if he did not have the correct manner on stage, besides, he practiced frequently at home. An acting club? No. He didn't want to perform in that sense. He didn't know of any acting clubs on campus anyway. The Drama Club made more sense. They would likely perform theatrical plays on stage. Koji thought that perhaps he could provide original music in the background, or act in minor roles. He had done some research on William Shakespeare for his own goals the week prior.
Nagisa soon returned, with her lunch in hand. Anpan and some juice. Koji wasn't particularly fond of sweet bean breads, but not being a fussy eater, if he was hungry, it would suffice. Nagisa brought him out of one of his frequent thinking, as she inquired about eating outside in the courtyard. Koji tended to eat whilst walking, and had passed by the quiet courtyard many times, lost in his own little slice of the universe, as everyone else seemed content to drift by. It was rather a peaceful place
"Not at all. I'm used to the quietness at lunchtime." He replied, gripping the loose-lidded plastic bento box tightly in his hand. A little too tightly, for the sides were bending under the stress. He was begging to ask the question that he knew was selfish, his little demons of self-doubt tugging at his stomach, goading him. Restraining himself, he managed to wipe his line of thought, and smile. If whatever rolled about in his mind that could happen, happened, then he would be glad for the parties involved. Even if it made him feel sick inside. His smile corroding these negative thoughts, he simply collected himself, ready to leave.
"Shall we go then Furukawa-san?"

Lunch always drew big crowds in this school, and because of that, Kyou and the group figured that would be a good time to give out starfish. With all these people around, staying around to eat their food, it would be easy to find at least one person who would be willing to take her starfish. No, there would be more than one person; nothing went better with a meal that an adorable starfish to admire all the while! YES, she was SURE that people would be eating up these starfish faster than they were eating their bread. Those lines that were at the bread cart would soon be lining up to her for starfish. There was no denying it; that would happen for SURE!
However, it soon turned clear to her that with hunger in their bellies, people had little care for her starfish; they were way too concerned with all the bread before them. Well, she could deal with that easily; the people at the back of the lines would be forced to hear her case, and there had to be some people who had brought their own lunch yes? Those would be the lucky receivers of starfish, and hopefully, when others see how lovely and enjoyable these starfish were to these lucky early receivers, they would come roaring over.
Scanning the cafeteria, Fuko’s eyes soon found two people who would be good targets. One was a smaller girl, though still a third year, with brown hairs and eyes. She was talking with a male who…how very similar characteristics to that. There was something about the girl though that just drew Fuko towards her, just something…odd, but in a good way. Plus, she was adorable and cute; she was the perfect specimen for the starfish. With someone like her holding them, the power of the starfish would double, no, TRIPLE, and any resistance those who had food had for them would fall apart like the soggy bread they were going to consume. Yes, this was a perfect plan; there could be no failure! The boy? Eh, he’d get a starfish too, but there didn’t seem to be anything special about him.
Approaching the two, Fuko tugged at the girl’s sleeve. Pulling out a starfish from her bag of them, she handed one up to the girl.
”Please accept this invitation and congratulate my sister on her wedding day. She was a former art teacher here and I wanted to get all the students to celebrate with her.” [/blockquote]

Nearly everyone that Koji met these days caused him to leap out of his skin at any given time. He was never one to be so easily surprised, to skip a heartbeat every time a person asked him a question, or made a statement. It seemed they managed to catch him at the worst possible times, usually when he was intently focused on something, thus a little detached from the world around him, resulting in the boy becoming startled. However, this was not one of those times. The young freshman who approached them seemed to have glided silently towards the two, like some petite assassin, treading as light as air. He certainly didn't hear her coming.
She approached Nagisa first, bequeathing unto her, a star-shaped wood carving. It was quite clearly handmade, and though Koji did not get a very good look at it, the quality seemed to be good, though as with most handmade items, there were few, minor imperfections, but that was part of the charm. Showing human error, and creativeness. There was no real soul involved in machines that churned out hundreds of carbon copies of similar items to be flogged to tourists for an insane amount of money. Koji would've much rather paid double that price for something that someone poured their time and sweat into making.
The young girl explained to the two that her sister, a former art teacher at the school was to be wed. Had she been handing out handmade stars as a wedding invitation to everyone? Clearly an impressive feat judging by the clacking of wood upon wood coming from inside her bag. Just how many did she have in there? More importantly, how many had she made? Alone, it would've been almost impossible to hand-carve enough for each and every student.
"That's a very nice thing to do for your sister. I'm sure she'll be happy to see all the students wishing her well on her married life." Koji complimented. Indeed, it was a kind gesture to do for ones family. He wondered about his elder brother. He was a former senior at Hikarizaka High before graduating. Perhaps he knew the girl's older sister. Perhaps not. He did not know either the girl's, nor her sister's name. He would have to remedy that later. He doubted any of the seniors would know her, she was not a teacher when Koji started his first year. Wondering what Nagisa would make of this, he patiently waited his turn to speak. It seemed lunch would also have to be temporarily postponed.

Upon returning with her food, Nagisa soon found that Otomo didn’t mind at all the idea of going out to the courtyard and eating lunch there. Apparently he was wanting to make sure his lunch was very secure as he was gripping it rather tightly. Whatever the case, they were about to head out when all of a sudden there was a tug on her sleeve. By the time Nagisa turned around to see what it was, she was face to face with a wooden starfish, or was it a star? More importantly, beyond the wooden object was a first year girl with gray hair, and she looked absolutely adorable too. Admittedly, she had a feeling like she knew the girl, and that there was something off about her, but Nagisa dismissed…until the girl began to speak.
She was wanting to give out these gifts as an invitation to her sister’s wedding? Now that was odd at first; who went around giving out starfish to people to invite to a stranger’s wedding. What she said next though was what brought Nagisa into a state of surprise. The girl’s sister was a former art teacher?! Wait, was this girl the sister of her art teacher Kouko Ibuki? That was the only art teacher that she knew of, and Nagisa would have loved to go to her wedding. After all, she had been her favorite teacher and had helped her out a lot. The thing was though, her sister was supposed to be in the hospital after being hit by a car on the day of the entrance ceremony….three years ago. This girl didn’t look a day aged, and if she was Fuko Ibuki then….
But yet, Nagisa felt like she couldn’t distrust this girl. There was a sincerity and love in the girl’s words and tone that just said she was telling the truth. But Fuko was hospitalized in a coma, so logically this girl couldn’t be Fuko, but she just couldn’t be lying, could she? Snapping out of her thoughts though, Nagisa grabbed the starfish.
”Why thank you, I’ll be glad to celebrate your sister’s wedding.”
Her companion soon had something to say about the issue as well, apparently agreeing with her and wishing the girl’s sister a happy life. This just about secured Otomo as good person as far as Nagisa was concerned, but with that pressing issue about how Fuko was here, Nagisa had to ask about it.
”Excuse me, but would your sister happen to be Kouko Ibuki? You said your sister was a former art teacher here and she was mine last year. So…..are you Fuko Ibuki?” [/blockquote]
