Dango Daikazoku on TV Tropes

So, stealing the idea from Saska and her site Magus Wars, I thought it might be fun to give Dango Daikazoku a TV Tropes page . So this is a thread for all of you to start righting up either tropes for the main site, suggest tropes for characters, etc. etc. so we can go ahead and get a lot of it up and about when I get the page started. For example, this is what I have for Kichiro right now *already coded for TV Tropes*: *AccidentalPervert: While generally doing his best to act his best around girls, Kichiro can't but help find himself in situations where he accidentally does something perverted (ex: accidentally groping Tomoyo's butt). Also plays a big role in his character history. *AscendedExtra: Was made to be an original character who would possibly get involved with Kotomi or Ryou, though more than an extra. Lack of a Tomoya on the forum lead to him getting the position of protagonist for a long time, throwing him head first into the Kotomi, Kyou, and Fuko arcs. *ApologisesALot: Part of his character when dealing with his Shrinking Violet tendecies and women. Is not too bad, but has his moments (such as the confusion over how to address Ryou). *ChewToy: Pretty much took the place of Sunohara in terms of dealing with Kyou and Tomoyo, though more through friendly teasing of him than annoyance (and a lot less...aggressive as Sunohara). *CannotSpitItOut: How he pretty much makes an attempt to confess a love to Ryou...indirectly at first. Even then it took a long period of awkwardness to get to that point. *ChickMagnet: Currently hangs around 5 girls, with two ofthem possible love interests. *DitzyGenius: Considering all the awkwardness and love triangles, as well as some lack of balance on his part, it's easy to forget he's supposed to be one of the best in school. Not enough to keep up with Kotomi all the time, but enough to not be completely lost when she talks. *DoggedNiceGuy *NiceGuy: For all the trouble his awkwardness can give him, he's pretty much a nice guy who is more accidentally creating or getting involved in troublesome situations. *OnlySaneMan: Considers himself this to a slight degree as he has found himself surrounded by what he would consider odd people (with the exception of Tomoyo). *ShrinkingViolet: At least in any situation dealing with girls. Expect his face to end up rather blushed, lots of stuttering and embarassment, and many other such things. Now remember most of his threads right now have him surrounded by women... *ShipTease: With Kotomi and Ryou. *TriangRelations: Started at a Type 1 with Kichiro in A, Kotomi in B, and Ryou C. May possibly shift into Type 10, with Kichiro in B, Ryou in A, and Kotomi in C (or in future plots, possibly Kotomi and Ryou switch...Kichiro is kind of wishy-washy).

Here are some general site tropes. Will add explanations later:
*AllThereInTheManual: The site can be played without knowing anything about Clannad, but you do miss out on some things without having some familiarity. *AlternateHistory: The site starts at the beginning of the series and goes on from there, with new events being influenced by differences in canon characters and original characters. *BadassAdorable: Kyou, Tomoyo, and any original characters that follow in their footsteps apply. *BeyondTheImpossible: Can Fuko get any stranger? Can Kichiro have an even more awkward thread? Can we beat up on Sunohara any more? And of course...can we make Clannad even MORE DRAMATIC?! [[spoiler:we'll try our best]] *BishoujoGenre *BoobsOfSteel: Again, Kyou, Tomoyo, original characters could easily be this as well... *BreakingTheFourthWall: Has already occurred in some of the threads to a degree, but more applicable to spontaneous "IC" conversations on the Cbox. *BrotherChuck: Kappei is still not to be found, and any canons not currently played can be counted one as well. *ButtMonkey: Sunohara retains this role, but some original characters (such as Kichiro Haru) also have taken it. *ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: What happens to dropped original characters. *Cloudcuckoolander: Most of the canon cast still retains this, and of course some of the original characters can be like this as well. Unfortunately have not yet had snarky Tomoya remarks regarding this situation. *Combos: Tomoyo of course provides these, and with original characters providing new sources and/or victims of them. *Delinquents: Tomoya and Sunohara retain the role, as well as Tomoyo's past status as one, but original characters such as Koji introduce some new flavor to them. *DoggedNiceGuy: Original characters Koji and Kichiro can be seen as these in regards to their respective love interests. *FirstNameBasis: Kyou Fujibayashi still does this, but many original characters can slip into this due to unfamiliarity with the concept. **Serves as a major issue of confusion and awkwardness for original character Kichiro when dealing with girls. *TheGadfly: Tomoya of course. *GenericCuteness: Retains the same issue the Clannad series had with canons; can be seen to be worse with the introduction of face claims from OTHER series as well. *GeniusLoci *GlowingEyesOfDoom: Moderator Saska uses Kyou's as her icon in the staff section of the sidebar. *ImagineSpot: Tomoya's imagination is intact; Fuko's is now being seen whenever she gets lost in her fantasies. *ItIsAlwaysSpring: Site has been going for two years; we are still in spring. *IllGirl: Nagisa's canon background, has been present in some original character backgrounds. *IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy: Even if romances haven't really sprouted yet, many characters can be seen as possibly going this route in possible future plots. *LargeHam: Many of the players act this way; characters are a little leaner though. *LeaningOnTheFourthWall: Some of the threads like to poke fun at the fact we are a roleplay site and the nature of roleplaying *LoveDodecahedron: We made a chart; it's a really big chart. *MagicRealism: It is Clannad after all. *MatchMakerCrush: *MeaningfulName: When in doubt an original character name, do this. *Moe *TheOtherDarrin: Can occur when someone drops a canon character and then someone else picks them up. For example, we have had at least 3 Tomoyas, 2 Kotomis, and 2 Sunoharas. Dropped original characters fall under ChuckCunninghamSyndrome *ParentalAbandonment: Seems to be a common original character background. *PoorCommunicationKills *RelationshipUpgrade: Hasn't happened yet, even with many attempts to do so by characters (particularly original characters Koji and Kichiro) *SaveOurClub: Nagisa is still attempting to restart the Drama Club. *SelfDeprecation: Kichiro is pretty decent at it, as well as other characters. Players are also willing to do so, and the admin will even admit the site name is "so original" [[spoiler:Better than the original name of Clannad: The Roleplay though]] *ShipSinking: Obviously, with roleplay, this is going to happen with different views of canon characters and introduction of new original characters. Add in that the preferences of the players will obviously influence their choices in romance, and many ships are sunk before they even get the chance to head to sea but... *ShipTeasing: Doesn't stop us from teasing them though. *SiblingYingYang: Kyou and Ryou *SiblingTriangle: Kyou and Ryou at first, but original characters are possibly breaking it up. *SpamAttack: Tomoyo's still [[IncrediblyLamePun kicking]]

I want to put Ayumu too... though I'd probably waste a couple of hours or more surfing for tropes that apply to him XD

Shou's are in the works ^_^ Here's what I could think of for his Royal Awkwardness xD
*Nice Guy: Incredibly honest, almost to a fault. Buys Tomoya a reasonably-priced lunch, helps out Nagisa. *Ship Tease: Koji and Kyou. *Shout Out: Gym closet spell. Except it's Koji and Kyou that get stuck in this time. *Ridiculously Average Guy: To a point. He's pretty lithe and has decent grades. But profile states he is neither bad, nor extremely good looking. *All Love Is Unrequited: Koji loves Kyou. She loves Tomoya. Tomoya is just friends with her at the moment in the RP. *Dogged Nice Guy: See above. Type 1. *I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Understands it's okay if Kyou eventually choses Tomoya over him. Still doesn't stop him from worrying like hell about it. *Love Confession: Gets caught trying to stuff a love poem into Kyou's locker. Hillarity ensues. *Blue Eyes: One is cloudy however, due to an eye condition. Covers is up with colored contacts. *Stalker With A Crush: Stalks Tomoya in one instance to try and find out what makes Kyou attracted to him. Is caught red-handed by Tomoyo. *Parental Abandonment: He takes his father's departure surprisingly well, but doesn't like to talk about it. At all. *Disappeared Dad: See above. Koji's father walked out one day with no explaination as to why, moved house, and never bothered to contact his family. *Daddy Had A Good Reason For Abandoning You: Argueably, the stress of his father's job drove him into a deep depression, and he thought his family would be better off without a horrible father. *Megaton Punch: Is a very skilled kickboxer. Perhaps not to the level of Tomoyo, but he's tough cookie. *Well-Intentioned Extremist: Until his senior year, Koji earned a reputation for beating up school bullies to the point where they'd be too scared to bully anyone again. He stopped after he was threatened with expulsion from Hikarizaka. *First Name Basis: INSISTS that everyone and anyone drop all suffixes and refer to him as Koji. *Ordinary High School Student: Aside from his boxing aptitude, Koji is as normal as anyone else. He has no remarkable talents, or any *The Generic Guy: He's tough, but not to the same level as Tomoyo or Kyou. His grades are adequate, but his book smarts aren't to the level of Kotomi's. *Think Nothing Of It: Koji will help people without any thought of a reward for doing so.

lol Saz. I have Shou's ready to roll!
*BadassAdorable: LOOK AT HER. Also. She's very shouty. And aggressive. *BigSisterInstinct: Kind of. Except it's towards her OLDER cousin, whom she thinks deserves his own shot at happiness after selflessly helping others. *CurtainsMatch The Window: Brown Hair. Brown Eyes. Played with a little. The rest of her family has BLUE eyes. *EveryGirlIsCuterWithHairDecs: Her hair's tied up in a ponytail with a bright red scrunchie. *GenkiGirl: And how. *JerkWithaHeartofGold: To make up for her lack of stature she has a tendency to be loud. Very loud. Strip away the hard outer shell, and she's a real sweetie. Just remember; Don't piss her off. *LittleMissSnarker: Are you snarking what I'm snarking? *Moe: Is flustered incredibly easy when Yuri is involved. See below. Pettanko: Along with the rest of her body, Shou is described as being... *ahem* Small. *WeaponOfChoice: Usually words, though she has threatened to chuck an ice-skate at someone BLADE FIRST. *YuriFan: Implied considering how she reacts to being told by Tomoya that Kyou is bisexual.

For Ayumu... and I shall now post it here, and there...
Please feel free to contest my perception of my character; if you think a trope does not belong, or I forgot a trope for him, please tell me.
* AllLoveIsUnrequited: Ayumu likes Nagisa... but it seems a certain pink-haired girl likes him. * AuthorAvatar * ButNotTooForeign: Ayumu is half-Japanese. * CannotSpitItOut: He has yet to confess his feelings. * CloudCuckoolander: A mild version, of which a part is his being MrImagination, and looking for 'interesting things'. Still enough to make Tomoya consider him weird, though. * FirstNameBasis: Nagisa calls him by his first name, while he still can't gather up the courage to return the favor. * HappyRain: Ayumu considers almost every rainshower as this. * HeroicSelfDeprecation: Ayumu can be rather critical and doubtful of himself. It can also be the reason [[ObliviousToLove why he has yet to get an idea that a certain somebody might like him]], although it may be more [[SelectiveObliviousness intentional]]... * IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy: It can be said that Ayumu's actions are guided by this. Also his reason for [[SaveOurClub joining the drama club]]. * MeaningfulName: The player originally meant his surname to mean Water God (a reference to his love of rain), but his lack of knowledge regarding Japanese might mean the name means something else. His first name is meaningful, too, and doubles as a ShoutOut, as seen below. * MissingMom: His mother is dead, although Ayumu doesn't make that much of a big deal about it. He does remember her fondly. * MostWritersAreWriters: It hasn't come up that much recently, although right now it might be the reason for his LampshadeHanging of his encounters with Iryna... * NiceGuy: Played straight, and has been TheConfidant for some people. You do have to get to know him first. * ShoutOut: To a few Ayumus out there that the player likes, most specially [[AzumangaDaioh Osaka]]... * SugarAndIcePersonality: a.k.a. Kuudere. Ayumu's personality is this flavor of TheStoic, although to be more specific, he's a Dandere. * TheDitherer: He is very indecisive, and he cycles through almost all of the reasons stated in this trope's main page. * ThePhilosopher: Mostly only to himself. Most of his contemplations feature [[ElephantsChild many questions]]. * WalkingTheEarth: A very, very mild version. Along with rain, Ayumu likes wandering around. You might find him in places where he has really no reason to be there other than he passed by. * WhiteHairedPrettyBoy

I've decided to revive the thread with the tropes I've accumulated for Avery. :3
*All Women are Prudes: Played With. While not every female character in the series is, Avery herself seems to be uncomfortable with anything remotely intimate. *Alpha Bitch: Played Straight. *American Accent: A strange mixture between the “Prep” and “Valley Girl” accents. Mostly the former. *Attention Whore: In that Avery tries to garner attention by bragging about her wealth, looks and clothing (when not in school). *Beneath the Mask: In truth, beneath Avery’s nasty behavior is a girl who is incredibly insecure, sensitive and bordering on some type of mental breakdown. *Big Fancy House: The Vanderbilt family owns and lives in a home somewhat styled to a mini-mansion. Complete with fountains, shrubbery, a pool in the backyard and a tennis court beside it. The house itself is westernized which starkly contrasts with the other more traditional Japanese homes in the town. *Bratty Teenage Daughter: She’s bratty and the daughter of a rich man. I think you know where I’m going with this folks… *Dog Stereotype: Avery owns a crème-colored Pomeranian named “Buttercrème “, who is spoiled and seems to be aggressive. Sound like anybody? *Driven by Envy: It’s arguable that the reason Avery acts the way she does is because she is jealous of the grace and honor that surrounds Japanese culture. *Dumb Blonde: Subverted. While Avery is blonde, attractive and wealthy (the common traits of a Dumb Blonde) she is actually quite intelligent. *Entitled Bastard: While Avery doesn’t want to go out of her way to help another, she fully expects people to help her in need. *Girl Posse: Played With. It’s very likely that Avery wants one of these, but along with her [s]friend[/s] minion Ashyanna, they can somewhat function as this… even if Ashyanna is naïve and only wants to make Avery happy. *Hates Being Touched: While it’s unknown what caused this (whether it be Avery believing she’s too good for intimacy, or perhaps she’s simply inexperienced in being affectionate), Avery just doesn’t like having people touch her, especially when it’s out of nowhere. *Hidden Depths: Like Beneath the Mask, Avery supposedly acts the way she does out of jealousy and her own insecurities. It’s also revealed later on that her mother and father divorced when she was little, resulting in her father dating a young, beautiful and proper Japanese woman. *Idle Rich: Despite being old enough for a part-time job, she makes no attempt to do anything all that productive or make a (positive) name for herself and she instead chooses to live off of her father’s money and her family’s fame. *Inferiority Superiority Complex: Played depressingly straight. Avery is insecure on the inside, so she hides this by exploiting her judgmental, stuck-up side. One could say this is a backfire from her mother encouraging her to be perfect but then reality comes into play… *It’s All About Me: Quite self-centered. *Jerkass: Self-explanatory. *Laser-Guided Karma: Poor, poor Avery. (Or not.) Whenever she acts out and judges others for her own benefit (which she does a lot), she seems to be zapped by the laser of justice that is Karma. It can be her peers retaliating against her or perhaps a simple accident after she makes a complete bitch of herself. *Lonely Rich Kid: Played rather straight. Her only friend is Ashyanna, who in truth is more like a minion/puppet that Avery uses for her own reasons. Beyond that, most of the school either hates and/or fears her. Her father often spends his time with Kyoko, his lover, away from home but only because Avery herself dislikes Kyoko. *Loners are Freaks: Somewhat justified in Avery’s case. While most stereotypical attractive, wealthy and fashionable teenagers in school are popular, Avery is not. It could be due to the fact she’s a foreigner who more-often-than-not pushes others away due to her behavior. Thus, despite her delusions that she IS popular, Avery is quite isolated and disliked. *Neat Freak: Can’t stand even a little stain on any of her clothes. Prone to have a heroic BSOD if any of her valuables are ruined by “ick”. *Noblewoman’s Laugh: Avery does quite a bit of these. *No Sympathy: Avery often has a hard time showing sympathy to those in physical, emotional or even mental pain. However, there can be exceptions, depending on the situation. *Ojou: A mixture between type B and C (Ice Queen and Royal Brat, respectively). *Parental Neglect: Somewhat Downplayed. While her parents didn’t always neglect her per-say, their parenting was rather shoddy as they chose to spoil her and inflate her ego while resulted in her behavior in current time. They still often took trips and left her alone to be taken care of by apathetic servants. *Phenotype Stereotype: Quite a bit of her character is based on the stereotypical view that Americans tend to be obnoxious, ignorant and spoiled. It doesn’t make this trope less valid when you remember the character herself is American, now in a different country. *Rich Bitch: Quite self-explanatory. Tends to really show when she brags about her wealth and belittles others for whatever reason she sees fit. *Royal Brat *Screw the Rules, I have Money!: Doubly Subverted. Due to the Vanderbilt's money, one would think Avery could get whatever she wanted. She forces her father to try and bribe the school counsel to allow her to wear whatever she wished, only for them to not be swayed by offers of money. However, afterwards, Avery still gets her way sometimes based on the sole fact she's from a wealthy family. *Smug Snake: Played Straight. Avery seems to dislike just about everyone else, and even acts callously towards her “friend” Ashyanna. *Spoiled Brat *The Fashionista: One of Avery’s hobbies is clothes and their appeal, to the point where she will (not surprisingly) call others out if she deems their fashion sense is horrid. *Tomboy and Girly Girl: Downplayed. Tomboy to Ashyanna’s Girly-Girl, despite the fact Avery herself could easily be considered a Girly-Girl. This trope applies because in comparison to Ashyanna (who is sweet-natured, shy, and submissive; loves cute frou-frouish things) Avery (who is aggressive and dominant) could be considered one. *Tsundere: Avery herself has a hard time conveying her emotions and (obviously) chooses to rather expose her harsh, bitchy side even if it’s to someone she cares about. Type A, without a doubt. *Zettai Ryouiki: Type B in her school uniform and type C in her casual (the one with the red tie & skirt) outfit.

All right people, since it seems we're getting the hang of adding in characters, it's time to start kicking things up a notch. We need tropes for the site itself, both IC and OOC and within the threads.
I'd also like for us to start doing some things like Alternative Character Interpretation and other YMMV tropes, as well as good old fashioned Crowning Moments of Awesome, Tear Jerkers. So as to not crowd things, please limit how many you do and we'll discuss them so as to see if the site in general agrees that it's worthy of the title.
We also need a fancy quote to sum up the site in sentence, so start sending in suggestions ^_^. IC quotes are allowed as well for that contest.

(This is for Haru) Alrighty. Here's a link to the picture (it's 200x311. I couldn't get exactly 200x300, but it's the closest) for the TVTropes page for Avery. imageshack.us/photo/my-images/831/112154.jpg/Just copy and save it. ^^ For the quote to go under her picture: Little Miss (snobby) America. As for her character description at the top: A foreign exchange student from the United States of America. Daughter of wealthy businessman Nathan Vanderbilt, Avery is exceptionally spoiled, stuck-up, selfish, judgmental, harsh and downright obnoxious. She seems to make enemies with everyone and as a result, she's often a slave to Karma. Her only "friend" is another foreign exchange student from France: Ashyanna. This is also notably pathetic when you take Ashyanna's passivity into account as it's the sole reason she even puts up with Avery while anyone else would either confront or avoid her. Avery sees Ashyanna more-so as a pet or "minion" per say, rather than an actual friend. Avery serves as an unofficial antagonist in the RP. She's also almost borderline Japanophobic with a Japanophilic father. Hilarity Ensues. (with HilarityEnsues being a link to the actual trope) In spite of all her flaws, (spoiler starts here) Avery has a (currently) hidden sympathetic side due to her insecurities and feeling incredibly lost, lonely and unwanted in Japan. Despite the fact that if she tried being nicer, she would make friends, Avery has instead built up a superiority complex that makes her feel better but at the same time pushes everyone else away.(spoiler ends here)
