Be A Man!

”Sir, are you going to go in or not?” the ticket man asked exhaustedly.
”Sorry, but I’m waiting for someone. She’s….” Kichiro stated, eyes scanning the crowd as he looked out for the tell-tale hair of a certain Fujibayashi. However, his statement got interrupted as the ticket man started laughing.
”Ooooooh, you’re waiting for a girl huh? Well, take all the time you want then.” he said with a wink, causing Kichiro to turn away with a blush. He knew what the guy was assuming; that this girl was a girlfriend that he was going to take through the haunted house in hopes of getting to play the ‘big strong protector’ role. Yes, because Kyou Fujibayashi was going to need him to protect her. Yeah right; she could probably topple the whole house with a dictionary or two if she wanted.
Still, not pressing the issue, Kichiro just leaned up against a nearby pole and sighed. He still really wasn’t sure how he got into this situation. Just a few weeks ago he had basically gotten drafted into accepting Kyou’s help in chasing after Kotomi, but as the summer went on and it seemed like that wasn’t going to go anywhere (Kotomi’s usual level of obliviousness combined with something that seemed to be troubling her), Kyou had decided it was time to start looking for something new. Kichiro wasn’t just ready to give up on Kotomi, but Kyou really didn’t care in that regard. Eventually he had to accept he was just not going to get anywhere with Kotomi, so he decided to take up Kyou on her offer.
That, of course, lead to this situation. The Fall Festival, of course, was filled with pretty young girls, and also provided a very useful if cliché setting for ‘a romantic encounter’ (how many dating sims did they play?). So here he was waiting for Kyou Fujibayashi to show up to help him scout for girls….somehow that just didn’t sound right. Personally, he was afraid someone might think he was dating Kyou (after all, why else would a boy and a girl be going through a haunted house at a fall festival, right?), which wouldn’t make anyone happy. Kyou would probably beat up the person starting the rumor, Kichiro would have to deal with the misconception, and Kyou would probably end up yelling something at him too.
Kyou, of course, was pretty confident in her abilities to help him ‘man up’ or something like that, so he just let her help him out. After all, it wasn’t as if his situation could really get worse, right? Besides, if Kyou tried to go too far her sister Ryou would probably be there to help smooth things out and keep her in line. It’s probably thanks to her that he wasn’t a complete laughingstock in the school, or the center of any rumors. After all, a guy alone with one girl would be mistaken for dating that girl; a guy hanging out with two is just friends with them (or a player, but no one would mistake him for that right?).
”I just hope she hurries up so that ticket guy would stop smiling at me like that….” Kichiro sighed as he noticed the man was giving him a ‘good luck there son’ kind of grin.

Ryou trotted, carefully but as quickly as she could. She was... a little late, since she hadn't really expected this turn of events. Sure, she was going to the festival, but... it was supposed to be a little later, with Grandma.
It was supposed to be her elder sister... Kyou-oneechan... it was she who was supposedly going a little earlier than everyone else. Something to do with meeting... somebody. It was only about thirty minutes before her departure that her sibling suddenly dropped the bomb that it was also going to be her departure, since she supposedly made the mistake of meeting two people at the same time... and one was somebody she knew, though probably not-so-knew, Kichiro Haru.
She remembered the boy from when her older twin pressed him for details about his love life... after a little round of her fortune telling, one afternoon. One thing lead to another, and her sister seemed to be running a little... project with their batchmate.
She shifted uneasily in her clothes. She was... hurriedly, perhaps even a little forcefully, dressed by her sister, for the occasion; because of the ensuing chaos, mixed up with her apologizing to their grandmother that she couldn't accompany her (and her grandmother saying it was fine, she wasn't that old yet), she hadn't really been able to pick what she would wear.
Rather, it was her sister who picked her clothes... they were a simple, but flattering red dress for the occasion, along with a pair of shorts and stockings. She hadn't really taken in what she was wearing, but it looked all right, to her harried self, when she was at home... she wondered if her opinion, then, could be trusted... she hoped she was at least presentable to Kichiro-san.
Rounding up the corner, through the seemingly befuddling labyrinth of booths, she reached her destination; the Haunted House. And she had promised herself she wouldn't subject herself to something like this again... she shuddered just remembering what happened last year... even if her sister just laughed it off. It had been visible from a distance, it being a major attraction, but the path to it had her confused for a moment or two.
The girl halted in front of the boy, who was probably wondering why a different Fujibayashi was here. "K-Kichiro-san-" she started, catching her breath. She was stuttering more from her run than from embarassment; Kichiro was, at the least, an acquaintance. "O-oneechan c-couldn't make it--"
She hung her head, as if saying sorry, though from an objective point of view, none of this was her fault.

Still standing around waiting outside of the haunted house attraction, Kichiro took a look around at the sky to try and guess the time. There was still some hints of the sunset, so it was still pretty early in the evening. The crowds weren’t bad yet either; there was still plenty of time before Kyou had to be there. Being vigilant was something he had to be though; the last thing he wanted was to get blindsided by Kyou showing up out of nowhere and scaring him half to death.
Glancing over at the line for the haunted house, he noticed a lot of couples were going in. Most likely the boys were wanting to show off how unafraid and manly they were, maybe get the girl to get scared and hold them. Closing his eyes, he tried to imagine Kyou doing the same thing with him, but that really didn’t work out. Mostly cause he doubted Kyou would get scared by anything in there, and even if she did, she probably wouldn’t hold onto him. If anything, she’d probably beat it to a pulp, or him if she did actually hold him for a second. Besides, they weren’t dating or anything like that so it would be pretty awkward.
There was still a bit of an appeal to the thought though, having a girl hold onto you because she was scared. He giggled a little to himself about it, but his thoughts were soon stopped as he heard someone walking towards him. Opening his eyes, he looked around to see if it was Kyou, but instead was presented with the site of the other Fujibayashi, Ryou….standing there in a rather lovely dress, panting a little to catch her breath. It was kind of an adorable scene, but he quickly pushed the thought out of his mind when she started talking. Apparently Kyou couldn’t make it…..
”O-oh, hi there Ryou. Kyou couldn’t make it huh? Did something come up?”
While waiting for an answer, he looked back over at the haunted house. He knew Kyou wanted to take him through it for some reason, but she wasn’t here now was she. Not really being a fan of them himself, this would probably be the easiest way for him to get out of it. But the thing was, Ryou might want to go through it, and she just ran all the way here to meet him apparently. Besides, it was one of the big things of the Fall Festival, and if Kyou did end up showing up later she’d probably bug him about it….
”So anyway….Kyou and I were supposed to visit the haunted house, but if she isn’t here,” Kichiro noticed he felt kind of flustered asking about this for some reason. Probably because of the implications of asking a girl to go through a haunted house with him. After all, he just observed all the couples going in, and the ticket manager was expecting him to go through with it too…
”Well, did you want to go through it with me then?” [/blockquote]

"A-anou..." Ryou panted, even as she started to explain. She was starting to get a hold of herself. She really wasn't the athletic type. She was thankful, at the very least, that her sister didn't do something as outrageous as outfitting her with high heels. She straightened herself up, looking the boy in the eyes, wiping with a hastily procured handkerchief the light sheen of moisture that had accumulated on her forehead. She looked a little apologetic, tentatively.
"Oneechan... had forgotten that she should have been meeting someone else at this time..." she continued, the heaving of her chest becoming less pronounced. She said I should go in her place. She paused, a bit, wondering if she should say that. While she was very thankful of her sister's actions for her, and Kyou-oneechan had been affirming of her good qualities (even those which she denied), she hardly could not think of herself as a viable substitute for her twin. She was... somehow, she felt... inferior.
She wondered how Kichiro must feel; he had been expecting her sister. She wondered what her sister would have been doing, had not this mess occurred... she would most likely pester Kichiro a bit, laugh a few things off, and generally carry him away. Not that she wanted to be exactly like her sister, in all her boisterous behavior... she... she just admired how she knew what she wanted and went along doing it. She had courage. She wondered if Kichiro would be all right with her. With that thought, Ryou smiled, with a hint of embarassment, as if she had been the one who had not been able to come.
She noticed how Kichiro-san's eyes moved towards the haunted house. Apparently, this place was more than just a rendezvous for her sister and Kichiro; they must have planned on going in. She felt a little guilty; if it had been her sister, who was obviously more courageous than she, Kichiro-san would have a more reliable companion inside. Her eyes traveled towards the people entering the place... last year, it had been her sister and she... and felt a little conscious to the fact that the boy-girl pairs were primarily couples. She shook off the thought; Kyou-oneechan and Kichiro-san couldn't possibly...
She nodded a bit, even before Kichiro-san finished his question; inwardly, she steeled herself. Her preoccupation with being capable of enduring the horrors (which scared her plenty, even if her rational mind kept telling her that they were just set-ups and contrivations...) had not allowed her to listen to the whole of the boy's question; if she had, she would have been flustered with the 'with me' part. "Yes." she said, trying to hide a bit of her trembling.
The Haunted House had her flustered enough. "Yes." she repeated. She didn't want Kichiro-san's experience to be ruined just because of her...

It looked as if Ryou was starting to catch her breath some, just as Kichiro started to take a step forward to try and see if he could try and help her out some. However, she straightened herself out and so he returned to his spot. He noticed she looked almost apologetic about it; he knew it wasn’t her fault about Kyou not showing up. But that just seemed to be Ryou’s personality so there really wasn’t anything he could do about it. Well, he could try and work on making sure she didn’t think he was disappointed or anything like that; Ryou was just as wonderful a companion as Kyou was. Almost a little better since Ryou didn’t threaten people with dictionaries and pain.
Apparently the reason Kyou couldn’t come was she was meeting someone else already right now. Hmm, odd. He didn’t take Kyou to be one to forget about prior arrangements or something like that. Then again, she was human, even if some acted as if she was a demon lurking the halls of school. There was an odd pause, and Kichiro assumed that it was his cue to speak right there.
”It’s okay Ryou, no problems. I guess I’ll just meet up with her later on or something. It’s not that big of a deal.” he replied, rubbing the back of his head. It was a little strange discussing this, but it wasn’t as if he was lying. He really didn’t mind that Ryou showed up instead of Kyou. She was probably more pleasant than the aggressive sister anyway….not that Kyou was a bad person to be around of course. It was just a relief to be able to spend time with someone a little more, well, timid.
Whatever the case, there was still that Haunted House to deal with. Kichiro was under the expectation that Kyou was going to want him to go in one way or another. Since she wasn’t here, that probably meant he was to go with Ryou instead. There was the concern of perception since many of the boy-girl pairs seemed to be couples, but they were just going as friends, right? Friends probably being forced into an awkward situation by one of the persons sister, but friends none the less. And Ryou was looking over at it, so he figured she was interested in going in. He asked her if she was interested in accompanying him, and he got a bit of a trembling “Yes” from her.
”Are you all right Ryou?” he asked, spotting that trembling. Personally ,he wasn’t that excited about it himself, so this could be the chance to get out of it. You know, Ryou not being interested in going through because she was scared so he would play nice guy and they could leave it alone. Yeah, that would work well for it all.
”I mean, if you don’t want to go through with it we can just come back later or something, enjoy the rest of the festival first and all.” he repeated, trying to sound braver than he probably really was… [/blockquote]

Conscious of how her answer to her schoolmate had been a little tainted by her real sentiments, Ryou paused for a few moments; she might have gotten herself right on posture and breathing, but she wasn't that okay yet. Still, whether in a stable condition or not, the lass was not specially renowned for a poker face; still, she tried, and with her inner struggles managed to come up with, at the very least, a pensive expression rather than a troubled one.
"I'm... I'm all right, Kichiro-san." she said, in an effort to make her tone steady; she mostly succeeded. Perhaps it was that she had an exceptional reason, for her, to put up a straight face to her companion, that she was a little more capable of holding her own this time. People who had reasons were formidable, and although one could argue that Fujibayashi's reason here may not be so... important, and mostly grounded on certain misguided assumptions, Fujibayashi Ryou took her causes seriously. A little too seriously.
Ryou, no matter how she seems emotionally fragile, can be rather determined, specially if she puts her mind to it. The younger Fujibayashi's will, as compared to her sister's, was a slow, but hardworking one, and definitely not losing in terms of power. She can do this; I can go through the Haunted House with Kichiro-san! It didn't particularly occur to her that Kichiro-san may not be liking the Haunted House as much as she thought he was.
She put her fists before her, in an expression of gathering strength. "Hm!" She let out a guttural cry, as she steeled herself for what is to come... and at the same time, tried not to think of how horrifyingly horrifying that... that what is to come.
Her originally scrunched-up face lightened a bit, though it still seemed a little tense; in Ryou's case, this would probably be her being 'pumped-up', though it wasn't specially convincing, as Ryou wasn't usually that sort of person. It could be interpreted in a variety of ways... besides being afraid to go in the Haunted House. It could be interpreted as being a little embarrassed with going in with a boy... or simply getting ready.
The ambiguity will probably sort-of-work in Fujibayashi's favor... if 'in favor' what was meant was that she would probably be able to persuade Kichiro to go in; that may not actually be favorable for the younger Fujibayashi, but she was asking for it... not that she was... erm, properly informed. It remains to be seen...
In any case, she tried to downplay her earlier trembling as something left over from her running, or something from her usual jitters of timidity.
"Let's go in, Kichiro-san!" She congratulated herself for wringing out the tremble from her voice... mostly. She started going for the entrance.
To doom.

Her tone steadying, Kichiro saw that Ryou seemed to be gaining some nerve now about the Haunted House. Still looked a little scared, but it was mixed in with determination to go through with it. With that look on her face, Kichiro felt rather selfish for trying and getting out of it. After all, if she was so determined and fierce about getting into the Haunted House, why should he deny her request? Also, while he wasn’t the manliness boy around, he was still a guy; was he really going to let a girl get the upper hand and be more courageous than he was? Even the relevant appearance of fear on her afterward didn’t really help persuade him to try and appeal to her to back off.
”Okay then, as long as you’re okay…” he replied, trying to sound concerned (which he was) and happy (which he wasn’t so much).
Pumping herself up, Ryou moved forward towards the house, and Kichiro was obliged to move forward right next to her. As they dealt with the ticket-man, he gave Kichiro a quick “good luck” wink, which lead him to hastily begin trying to push Ryou a little faster towards the House.
”All right then, right with you there Ryou…” he replied, embarrassed as the two of them entered the mouth of the beast….and soon found themselves in the darkness of the haunted house. Well, about a second later candles started to show, and Kichiro wasn’t sure if the mood was supposed to be romantic or creepy. There was your usual background noise of groans, shackles, and ‘creepy’ sounds. Overall, standard fare, nothing extraordinary creepy or frightening. Yeah, this was okay, he could survive this. Relaxing a bit, Kichiro even began to go ahead of Ryou, stepping onto the staircase that would lead them to the first real ‘floor’ of the Haunted House.
”Okay, see, this doesn’t seem too ba…”
About that moment Kichiro stepped into what seemed to be a trap of sort as he found the step underneath his foot “give way”, causing him to stumble slightly till he got his footing again. Looking down, heart racing due to fears of, well, falling through the floor, he saw the part of the staircase he stepped on had just dropped down a few inches, like one of those “floor drops” in fun houses. His hands clutching the railing for dear life, Kichiro nervously laughed as he tried to appear brave for Ryou.
”D-Don’t worry. It’s, it’s just a floor drop. Watch your step.” he replied with a bit of a weak chuckle….. [/blockquote]

I'm in the business of misery, let's take it from the top. She's got a body like an hourglass that's ticking like a clock. It's a matter of time before we all run out. When I thought he was mine, she caught him by the mouth. I waited eight long months, she finally set him free. I told him I can't lie; he was the only one for me. Two weeks, and we had caught on fire. She's got it out for me, but I wear the biggest smile. Kyou's plan was being put into action swiftly and easily, something which she clearly noted as she hid further away from Kichiro, whom had just met up with Ryou in front of the haunted house. She'd managed to fluff her sister off and send her ahead to meet Kichiro, stating that she herself wouldn't be able to make it... While in reality, she was playing espionage. She'd taken her hair and tied it up meticulously, tying it up into a high ponytail at the back of her head, much like she often did when she was in gym class or participating in other sports. She'd also dressed in dark, bland colours; she wore a black bunnyhug with the hood bunched up, hiding the actual length of her tresses within the hood. Her choice of pants was a pair of sleek, black skinny jeans, with a pair of matching black flats to accompany it. Her eyes were also lined differently, with a thick black outline; she still looked somewhat like Kyou in the face, although the clothing would surely be enough to put off anyone who might suspect her of being the long-haired Fujibayashi twin.
Now, however, her only plan was to follow her sister and Kichiro into the haunted house in an attempt to see how well Kichiro could man up in the presence of a somewhat... Easily frightened girl. Ryou would have probably gone in the haunted house anyway, and although Kyou felt a bit mean subjecting her sister to such instances, she simply had to test Kichiro and see how well he could handle things. The haunted house was somewhat of a popular attraction, though at the moment it seemed relatively, well... “dead”, in a sense. That meant it would be much easier for Kyou to follow behind them and watch closely to see how things would turn out.
Once Ryou and Kichiro had entered the haunted house, Kyou put on her most boyish expression, paid the vendor quietly, and followed them in. With the dark lighting in the haunted house, her dark choice of clothing would keep her well-hidden within the structure, hopefully out of the sight of any wandering eyes. They would certainly be wary of things leaping out of them, as that was the general idea of a haunted house, so she would have to be absolutely careful. Pulling a toque out of her bunnyhug pocket, she swiftly untied her hair, shoving it inside her sweater and down the back whilst pulling the toque inconspicuously over her head.
She wasn't far behind Kichiro and Ryou when she entered, though she really did hope she was hardly noticeable. As they began to ascend the stairs, Kyou stayed back in a hidden area, watching to see what would happen. As Kichiro stepped on one of the stairs which sunk down a little when he stepped on it, Kyou could barely contain herself; the look on his face was pure, classic fear, having her almost nearly doubling over in hilarity. She quickly stuffed her sleeve in her mouth to keep from laughing, though her face was graced with the biggest of grins. His knuckles were white when he gripped the railing, too... Oh, the hilarity. The poor boy was scared out of his mind, probably of falling through the floor or something.
She noted carefully that despite the fact that he was quite frightened by the sudden drop of the step – even though it had only dropped an inch or two – he was at least trying to man up for her sister. Kyou could only imagine what other things would scare them... Perhaps she should do her part, as well. Glancing around quickly to make sure nobody could see her, she reached again into one of her pockets and withdrew a small pocket dictionary, one which looked rather worn. The corner were dog-eared and the spine was worn from use, but despite that, she aimed carefully and threw it at the door that was at the top of the stairs, making a loud enough noise to catch anyone's attention. It flew like a shuriken through the air with a rather uncanny speed, soaring towards the door and slammming against it with a loud thud. She then ducked almost completely out of sight, withdrawing a mirror out of her jeans pocket and angling it so she could see the stairs around the corner without actually going around the corner. She'd prepared well for this; she knew what she'd needed to bring, and had brought it.
Second chances, they don't ever matter; people never change. Once a whore, you're nothing more, I'm sorry; that'll never change. And about forgiveness we're both supposed to have exchanged I'm sorry honey, but I'm passing up, now look this way! Well, there's a million other girls who do it just like you Looking as innocent as possible to get to who they want And what they like; it's easy if you do it right! Well, I refuse, I refuse, I REFUSE!

Ryou felt queasy.
It didn't hit her full force immediately. Of course, near the entrance, where the light of the dying day still faintly shone, the darkness was far from complete. But as they edged forward, it seemed to swallow the surroundings, only very lightly disturbed by the candlelight. Ryou had been rather focused that she didn't notice the 'signals' that the ticketman were giving her companion, Kichiro-san. She had much more to worry about.
She shivered a bit as the sounds came; they were the usual sounds you'd expect on horror-themed attractions and the like, the clinking of chains, the shudders and moans that were far from pleasant to the wary mind. The younger Fujibayashi was not yet scared, or at least she was trying not to be... she resisted the urge to look behind her, keeping her eyes forward.
This'll end soon, this'll end soon... Ryou tried not to think of how there must be more surprises... horrid surprises... in store for them, given that what they had been facing were not yet that terrifying. Of course, when you try not to think of something, you think about it more. Her skin crawled. A little self-conscious, she wasn't completely paying attention to Kichiro... she remained silent as they trudged on. This'll end soon, this'll end soon...
She wondered why there were even things like this, and how they traveled under the guise of 'entertainment'. Other people may like frightening themselves or their companions (she wondered a bit if her sister was in that category...), but normally, Ryou would have none of it. She would be relieved if it would just be the darkness and the sounds, and then it would be over...
She was jolted out of her reverie, her first defense, as Kichiro seemed to fall. She gasped a bit; they had been on to ascending the staircase, and it seemed the boy had been tricked by a bit of a drop. She smiled nervously. "I will..." she muttered, in response to her escort's precaution. She gingerly began steeping on the steps, making sure her position was stable as she followed Kichiro-san...
Suddenly there was the sound of slamming, though Ryou could've sworn that there was a bit of a whoosh before that. She jerked involuntarily, her pretty face contorting, with a bit of a shock. She grabbed Kichiro's nearest hand by the wrist, not thinking much of the implications...
"What was that?" she asked, and immediately she regretted asking. She just had to ask. She trembled, again. She wanted to think it wasn't much of a tremble...
It was hard to be cautious and brave at the same time... one after another, huh? And they hadn't even gotten through this staircase... she hoped she wasn't sick... or at least not a shambling heap... when this ended. Her eyes quivered with a bit of fear. She exhaled, looking around despite herself, not noticing how her hand had clamped a bit on Kichiro's...

”That’s good. After all, we don’t want you getting hurt, right?” Kichiro responded, trying to make his position sound even more protective and stronger after nearly getting scared to death by a simple drop in the floor. However, after about a second or so of thinking, Kichiro had to turn around and hide a bit of a blush. That sounded a little flirty, or at least to his mind. He’d blame it on the terror; fear does do weird things to your thinking patterns. He just hoped Ryou didn’t read more into it than needed like he just did.
”A-anyway, let’s just keep on going. This thing didn’t look too long on the outside.” he responded, not exactly sure what to do next. All they could do really was keep moving down to the next part of the house, but at that point there was a massive slam as something hit something else.
What the HELL WAS THAT!? he thought, not talking as panic was getting in his way from doing so.
Not knowing where it came from or what exactly had happened, Kichiro nearly felt his heart give out at the sound of it (okay, exaggeration). Not even looking at Ryou, Kichiro jumped back an inch or so. He was shaking pretty badly, but he felt one of his hands stop as…Ryou grabbed it. Right, Ryou was there, and probably scared as heck. He had to at least seem perfectly fine and not scared for her, right? After all, she probably expected him to be the stronger person (then again they knew each other long enough to realize that was probably not the case, right?). He heard her ask what that was, and honestly, he had nothing. This time there was a bit more panic in his voice, but he still tried to sound confident in his self.
”I, uhm, I’m not sure. Maybe they just have people thumping on the floors or doors or something?” he said, heart rate slowing down but over all his body was still on alert. About that time he finally noticed that Ryou was holding onto his hand. Looking away towards the door, he was glad for the dark; his face was probably pretty red right now. It was just the house though, probably Ryou wanting some friendly, human comfort to keep calm. Yeah, that was all, nothing to be concerned about….
Moving on slowly, Kichiro opened up the door to find themselves in what looked like to be some sort of play room. There was some old toy boxes, an empty rocking horse (that was rocking….joy), and a few teddy bears with the head ripped off. Yeah, these people knew how to set up the atmosphere. However, it didn’t look like there was anybody in the room, although the two dolls in the corner were starting to creep Kichiro out.
”Okay, creepy….” he mumbled, slowly walking forward with Ryou still holding his hand. Crossing the playroom seemed to do nothing, though he swore the two dolls’ eyes were moving and following them. Just as they reached the end, however, something happened.
“Come play with us you two. We want to be friends forever and ever and ever!” two voices said, glancing around, Kichiro say the two dolls were walking towards them. They were alive! Not really hiding his fear this time, Kichiro opened the door to the small hallway, kind of pushed Ryou ahead, and then closed it behind him. Laying up against the door as if he was expecting them to try and burst through, Kichiro tried to sound less afraid than he was.
”Okay, I’ll admit, that was creepy. But we’re safe now so we can calm down a bit, right?” he laughed, not even giving out a weak chuckle but more of an attempt to get his breath back to normal. [/blockquote]

Ryou followed Kichiro a little more obediently. The girl wasn't exactly in a position to be embarassed; apparently, it was hard to be embarassed and scared at the same time (but Kichiro-san seems to be doing it...), at the very least, for Ryou, and so he missed what the boy thought was flirty.
She eyed with a certain paranoia the steps of the stairs as they ascended. "T-thanks." she muttered; even if Kichiro hadn't been saying anything, to be with somebody who isn't laughing off everything (her sister) was comforting. Kichiro-san at least wasn't laughing at her for being scared... little did she know that Kichiro was just as scared as she was, or perhaps even more.
They did keep on going; the girl seemed almost dependent on Kichiro's courage, even if it may just be a bit of a front (Ryou can be quite gullible), and she hung on to his words that this 'thing' would be done with torturing them sometime soon. She kept herself silent, fearing her words might betray her further, though the quivering of her hand, clamped on her companion's wrist, was already doing the betraying.
They were now on the second floor... they entered a room that seemed just as desolate as all the places that they had passed by, only this seemed like a child's room, what with the dusty, cobwebbed toys littering the place. She did not notice that the rocking horse was rocking, her eyes intent on finding the passage from this room to the next. She noticed, however, that Kichiro-san's attention was apparently piqued by... a set of two dolls.
And then they were following them. Joy. As the realization set in, Ryou almost overtook Kichiro as her eyes spotted the exit, the words of the marionettes entirely unheeded. Still, the boy came first, and opened the door for her, and it was a whirl... and they were out, though at least it seemed the dolls weren't superpowered or something. Ryou looked a little stricken, and she panted.
"Ye-yes." she answered to Kichiro's hopeful rhetorical question. Still, she didn't know if she still had any clamness in her, even though she wasn't yet screaming or anything... she was the sort who would rather whimper and move than use all her adrenaline sending a distress signal. She whimpered a bit, muttering yet another "Thanks" to Kichiro for pushing her out of the room first.
What more could be in store for them?
OC: So this is about to be scrapped, since it's almost December already? T.T

Too concerned about getting through the area and out of that house as fast as possible, he didn’t hear her muttering thanks to him about something. Besides, it wasn’t something he wanted to focus on; he just wanted to keep up the appearance of looking cool and calm. He had a feeling that he was failing big time at that; between jumping out of his skin, running for his life, blushing at imagined flirtiness, and he was a wreck. Still, he had to do his best to keep calm and not let Ryou know he was scared to death. After all, she had wanted to go here, right? And if she could handle it, he could as well.
Heck, he even missed her quivering hand as he was busy quivering a little himself. Of course the creepiness of the nursery room gave them a good reason to be so. The evil doll-scare of the room seemed to have been equally frightening for the both of them, as it wasn’t long before Ryou was out and Kichiro was right behind her, back to the door as if the dolls were going to come crashing through the door. Finally able to calm down some, he was breathing kind of hard alongside Ryou. He was glad to see that the situation was bothering her as well, that he wasn’t completely alone in being afraid. Still, she seemed rather calm compared to him.
Still, by this point, even if it turned out they were both frightened to death, they obviously couldn’t go back. They could only go forward and get this thing over with. Now this time, of course, he could hear her say thanks, and he just assumed it was for letting her out first.
”I’m guessing that you really didn’t like this place, did you?” he asked, finally realizing that they probably could have avoided all this with some better communication. Of course, at that point he remembered he was still against the door, so he backed off a bit to make him seem less of a paranoid mess. Just as he did, however, it seemed the two dolls decided to have a little more fun and swung the door bit, hard.
This, of course being done to Kichiro, sent him stumbling forward a bit and into Ryou. Not really sure what had just happened, he stood there for a second before realizing it and backing off, face rather red (though hopefully in the dark it couldn’t be seen).
”S-sorry about that. The door pushed against me and knocked me forward. I, I’m sorry of that was uncomfortable. I’m not a very graceful person and I..I…I think maybe we should just move forward…” he responded with a nervous panic before heading past towards Ryou and down the (thankfully normal) stairs.
This seemed to be getting towards the last part of the house, which Kichiro was very grateful for, and from the looks of it, the last room was going to be a kitchen. Of course the meal set out was standard horror stuff; eyeballs and brain spaghetti, pieces of arms for meat, and some other stuff that he wasn’t really sure what it was. It seemed to be more of an atmosphere sort of thing. The only thing that seemed to be concerning him right now as the cabinet, which seemed to be moving around a bit as if there was something in it. Oddly enough though, it seemed the main horror thing was the sudden turning on of the oven and fridge, revealing what looked like human body parts being cooked or frozen.
However, that cabinet was the main thing he was concerned about. Oddly enough, the gory human parts seemed less interesting than that; it was extreme enough that it wasn’t scary cause you knew it was fake. But that cabinent, even if you kind of knew something was there, just seemed creepy. It was almost as if someone was knocking on it….. [/blockquote]

"Um, yes..." she finally admitted.
It was very late for such an admission, of course; they were already deep into the house, and getting back to the entrance now would probably be just as hard as getting to the exit, from this point. It dawned on Ryou, Kichiro's slight expression, the little things that seemed to have been hesitation... were actually hesitation. She sighed, momentarily forgetting her fear, finding the situation even a little funny. If Kyou-neechan were here, she would probably be laughing her ass off...
However, there were more things to keep Ryou occupied, besides the revelation. Perhaps because of those creepy dolls from the other room, Kichiro was sent sprawling onto her, repelled by the door. Her first thought, as the haunted house had been thoroughly frazzling her, was to move to get off from under Kichiro, with squinting eyes peering into the darkness, wondering if the puppets would come out and torment them again.
However, with this not exactly happening, Ryou realized that Kichiro was a male human. Yes. She wasn't able to react immediately, her thoughts whizzing so much they'd probably sound like a saw if they were audible, and the poor guy was able to extricate himself from herself before she had occasion to further be embarrassed.
"Uh, uh... yes." she muttered, whimpering a little, in response to Kichiro; it was better not to think about it, as she had been doing... but now she was thinking about it. She put it off as the haunted house, not realizing that Kichiro was truly, as he had said himself, 'not a very graceful person'. After all, she hadn't been in very close proximity of Kichiro-san before. Wait, what was she thinking about proximities? Kichiro-san liked Ichinose-san, and, she liked Okazaki-san, even though Okazaki-san hadn't been really noticing her yet...
Move forward, move forward, she said to herself. She might not feel terrified as much, with her thinking preoccupied with Kichiro-san... ulp... and she had even took his hand a while ago... but there really wasn't any choice, since they were both frightened... in some ways, this was a little more bothersome than getting frightened.
She followed Kichiro down the stairs, with a little more distance than she had been doing for quite a while now. Great, now she was scared and embarrassed. It sort of helped that Kichiro-san was scared and embarrassed too, though it was also not helpful in another way. Her mind felt tangled. The food was icky, though nothing as scary as the marionettes from before.
Her ears quickly picked up the thumping from the cabinet. She looked around I've got a bad feeling about this... "Isn't there a way out of here?" She said, trying to concentrate on their now obvious goal: get out of here. She didn't want to stay for the entertainment.

Fuko was not sure how exactly she got into this position that she was in now; being inside of a cabinet in some haunted house of some sort. Earlier that day she had heard about the fall festival taking place, which was why Fuko had believed it to be a good time to try and get more people to take her starfish and everything that went with that. Large crowds of happy, friendly people would only be improved by being given a gift of starfish, that could not be argued! At no point did she have anything to fear about the festival.
However, for all the good people at a festival, there were jerks there to ruin it. A small group of bullies had stolen her starfish and hid them as the festival was being built up. Fuko had searched and searched for the starfish, but eventually located them sitting in some cabinet. She was small enough to fit inside it easily, but as she leaned over to pick them up someone (probably those bullies) had thrown her into it and shut the door. Fuko was lost as what to do, but her banging was worth nothing (probably thought it all part of the act for the house). Eventually she settled on her fate….which was about the time someone actually finally checked on her.
After being apologized to for the incident, the owners of the house had offered her a job to jump out and scare people. In return, they said, Fuko could hand out her starfish; and of course she took the offer after giving them some starfish. The night had been rather interesting that. Most people that she scared just ran away from her without taking a starfish. The few that stayed to talk to her did take the starfish and had a good laugh. In Fuko’s mind, doing this was a great way to get it out; people would obviously remember someone jumping out, scaring them, and giving them a starfish for it all. And the better they remembered her, the better chance they would come to the wedding.
So with all that in mind, Fuko heard people coming. Grabbing a hold of starfish, she began the usual routine she was told to do; knock on the cabinet until it sounded like they were close, then jump out holding out her starfish and offering it. She could hear voices from the other side, and she braced herself for jumping. When they were right in front of her, Fuko burst open the door of the cabinet and introduced herself.
”BOOOOO! FEAR FUKO-STAR FISH MASTER!”
Introductions complete, Fuko waited for them to calm down from whatever reactions they had before finally getting to the meat of her job. Holding the starfish up towards them, she began the usual speech she gave for this situation.
”Now that Fuko has gotten your attention, please take this starfish! It’s an invitation to the wedding of Fuko’s sister. Please come and congratulate her on her wedding day.” [/blockquote]

And now they find out that they didn’t want to come to this place in the first place. Well, it really was too late to do that now; going back was not going to do anything since the exit was probably closer than the entrance. Plus, he had gained a newfound fear of dolls; he was NOT going to go back to that room now no matter what. The only option that they had now was to keep going forward. But at least now they could come straight out with the fear than hiding it….though Kichiro still thought that as the ‘guy’ in this situation he should try and act brave. Chances were, however, Ryou probably realized that by now he didn’t want to be here either.
”Well, even if it doesn’t help now, I’ve never been good with horror movies myself so this was the last place I wanted to be. Nothing to do now though….”
Well, apparently there was as he was shoved towards Ryou and sent into a slight panic before, well, becoming less panicked. Neither of them able to think straight, they both figured that the best thing to do now as just to keep on moving and try and get this over with. Still, his normal girl-shy personality had to come through during that moment, and in the darkness there was a slight blush to his face. Being this close to Ryou hadn’t been an issue before, but back then his crush was on Kotomi-chan, right? So why was he being so embarrassed about looking like a fool, well, more than normally? Thoughts confused and muddled with the storm that was romance, he was almost glad to get into another room where his thoughts could be distracted by horror.
However, this was probably the least scariest room of the building, but that soon changed. It was only the cabinet that had freaked him out a bit, mostly the banging noise of it all. However, the sudden burst of a girl coming out of the cabinet yelling, well, he didn’t care about what that person said as he jumped backward and knocked over half the stuff on the table. Well, so much for his collected personality; that was a rather pathetic thing to do. As he started to calm down and get off the table (probably knocking a few more things off in the process), he heard the girl talking and…holding a starfish in front of him.
Now that he was calmer and could hear, Kichiro had to smack his forehead for being stupid. The girl in the cabinet….WAS FUKO. Yes, he had just been completely and utterly humiliated by FUKO, that girl Tomoyo made him help. That just drastically made him seem even more pathetic than the jumping back did. On the bright side, he had a rare moment to sound completely deadpan.
”Fuko-chan, it’s me, Kichiro. I already got a starfish and am helping you…..and how in the world did you end up in here anyways?” [/blockquote]
