Sanae smiled as she scanned the younger man's behavior. It only caused her lips to press into a slightly larger smile. Mizukami Ayumu seemed rather awkward, but despite that she was happy to be able to introduce herself to a customer - a student from the same school her daughter Nagisa attended no less. The way he was gaping almost caused a soft fit of laughter to pass her lips, yet she contained it. Sanae simply stood there awaiting Mizukami's reply to her question.

"Uh-- I'm--- Mi-Mizukami."

Mizukami: A name that she would remind herself to remember. For a moment, she was slightly entertained by how Mizukami was acting. From his stammers to the shifting of his body it was quite obvious that he was nervous, yet the woman would attempt to make him feel welcome nonetheless. The questions of his presence here did linger in her mind, but the answer to the questions would reveal themselves in due time. For now, she would keep her attention on the 'customer'.

Before she could speak up, Mizukami introduced himself once more. Coming off as rather formal nonetheless even after his previous introduction proved to Sanae that he wanted to make a good impression it seems. The way he spoke to her, and how he tried to fix his appearance, did not go unnoticed. The facts had made the woman keep her genuine smile despite how he was being unnecessarily formal.

"Well, it's very nice to meet you Mizukami. My name is Furukawa Sanae, and it is very nice to meet you!"

Sanae had bowed to Mizukami, introducing herself as she had done so, before straightening herself. The next question asked by the student nearly caught her by surprise.

"Are you, ma'am... Furukawa-senpai's sister?"

The very question had caused a laugh to emit from Sanae's mouth. It was a bit flattering how most would ask and/or assume that she was Nagisa's elder sister. It was something that Sanae accepted as a compliment; something that she also liked to hear. At the very least it let her know that she still appeared young, and that she still had a good number of years left before she would possibly start developing slowly into the stages of elder hood. "Well, I-" Pausing in her sentence, a voice interrupted her own as Nagisa had entered the room. A kind warmth greeted her at the sight of her daughter, and clasped her hands together beaming at Nagisa. "It's nice to see you up and running around, Nagisa!" Sanae chimed as she rubbed the top of her daughter's head in a gentle manner before shifting her attention to Mizukami, not even having to answer his previous question anymore. Nagisa had already answered it for her.

"I don't think I see very much of you outside of school, what brings you out this way?"

Sanae had intervened after Nagisa had asked the question. "Well, I believe it has something to do with you, dear. This nice young man was asking for you after all." she presumed with a soft smile gazing to the young woman, and then Mizukami himself.

"I apologize though for intervening. What brings you here to the Furukawa Bakery, Mizukami?"

The answer to that question came sooner than expected. Just when the girl had just slipped off her shirt, the answer the fellow classmate had given her had come and gone. It was rather surprising at the speed such an answer came. Suspicions began to rise causing the blonde to tread caution with her words; the usual instinctive reaction had come into play. Grabbing the top of the school's winter uniform Kazue began putting on the necessary clothing piece. Whispering under her breath she felt a word slip out of her mouth as if it was second nature.

"Curious... I see..."

Slipping the last button through the cloth Kazue then fixed the uniform top taking care of any creases and wrinkles that may have been there. The top was small and a bit tight but the girl decided to make due with what she had. She was just grateful enough to even have a spare set of clothes in the first place; especially since this set was given to her. A reminder was then set in place to return the set to Kirishima when Masumi encountered her next time.

The skirt seemed to fit on perfectly along with the socks provided with the uniform. Despite how it appeared to not fit her size, Kazue grabbed the edge of the white curtain and pulled it back fully revealing her form as the girl asked her question. Gazing to Anzu the girl tugged slightly at the hem of the skirt before performing quick glances directed at Kirishima.

"I-It's a bit small but I'll make due... Thank you, Kirishima-san."

Ignoring the stutter in her sentence Kazue provided a bow of her head towards Kirishima before straightening. Despite her predicament (and her slightly wet hair) she still kept her calm demeanor. With an internal sigh, and the shifting of blue irises, Kazue looked towards different assortments decorated around the Nurse's office. Her feet were bare of the shoes that completed the uniform, for her pair needed to dry before she could place them upon her feet. Still the girl wanted to keep herself preoccupied, or to keep attention away from her to say the least.

"So... S-Should I go and get Karu?"

Anzu had hit the 'nail on the head' as the fellow classmate thought. Kazue had enjoyed such a novel ever since she was little. Despite the occasional drama and depressing moments the story held, it carried one thing that she was always fascinated with: The bonds of friendship each of the characters shared. The world was so different from reality - as always - and developmental changes for each and every character. No matter who they were they still learned at least something from whatever they came across no matter how big or small it was. It fascinated her, and it caused her to dream if she could ever find such bonds of friendship.

Maybe even love.

"The Climb. That's a rather philosophical title, I think. What's it about? I'm curious how you can keep reading it."

Kazue seemed to relax her shoulders slightly as she held her book. The question of what said novel was about seemed to reach her. Obviously the girl seemed to relax ever so slightly, and if one could tell, a small glimmer of light surfaced in her eyes. This was one thing that Masumi cherished dearly; this very book.

The way Anzu had smiled seemed to at least help with evidence that she was interested. This classmate didn't appear to be holding ill will, but Kazue still wouldn't bother even considering to let her guard down. It was just the way she was. She couldn't trust anyone easily, nor could she make friends easily.

Though in these circumstances it was different. Anzu seemed generally interested to say the least.

"Alright... I'll tell you. The... story is mostly revolving around the possibility of the many forms of love, another world fictionally beautiful... in my opinion at least... and the bond of friendship."

Slightly embarrassed the freshman hugged her book close to her, and shoved a hand in her pocket while looking away. One could tell that Kazue didn't even need to think twice about the story itself overall. It was something she memorized by heart. This story held a deep meaning of importance to her; a type of importance that no one could take away from her she believed.

It allowed her to dream a more happier life.

The comment the fellow classmate gave to her was one that she herself wasn't expecting. Lifting her head up to gaze upon Fujihara the blonde didn't know what to say. Light blue irises crept away from the light that had almost brightened the color completely; hiding behind the darkness that decorated the creases of her eyes. Despite the fact that Kazue made the decision herself to attempt to talk to this individual, her nerves were eating away at her very core. She hadn't even realized that she wasn't making proper eye contact with Fujihara. Kazue knew that she would have to make eye contact with her at few points - at least she was attempting to...

What was this girl thinking now? Was Fujihara silently judging her? Perhaps have already caught on that she didn't behave normally?

Moments of silence had passed by. Kazue's emotions pulsed through her body. The silence wasn't unwelcome but it wasn't pleasant either. This was the first time the freshman even made an advancement to talk to another individual when they always spoke to her first. Not to mention that this girl was - indeed - a total stranger moments ago. Now she was a simple acquaintance with a gentle smile on her features. The way Fujihara spoke was in an elegant and innocent manner - that belonging to a lady almost.

Suddenly a thought came to mind: Ageha wasn't certainly here as often as other students. Not too long ago was she even introduced to the whole class, and it was quite the surprise to see a new addition to their already large class. The blonde had a tinge of curiosity bite at her, but the urge of a question was pushed aside. It was a bit too early to even be delving into things such as whereabouts during school. One thing was for certain at least.

Ageha was in a much better condition than Masumi herself at the moment.

An answer to her question finally surfaced, and with an internal sigh Kazue forced herself to make eye contact with Ageha. So it seems that she didn't really have that many friends after all. It was common to not have that many friends after moving to a new town such as Hikarizaka. This town didn't have very many people living here to begin with; a small town. Without a moment of thought Kazue hugged her legs close to her chest and hid her face behind her knees; a fortress to hide her form.

"I... was just wondering. You don't talk... to others much. N-Not to... to mention that you don't seem to be here as often as the others. I-I was... just..."

Tightening the group around herself, stabling herself, and curling herself into a ball almost in the small chair, Kazue trailed off in her sentence ignoring the occasional stutter and illicit pauses. It was difficult to even form the words out of her own mouth. Something about this was sending her off the edge, and into a whole other world. Something was biting at her - eating away at her - and Kazue just didn't want to show her face without breaking the emotionless expression the young woman carried around for so long.

Well, not everyday that someone says something like that. There was something about being complimented by her that made him happy, even if he still was not so sure how his meager self could have made her day (and she was the one who ended up paying, to boot). Perhaps... doing this once in a while wouldn't be bad.

He reflexively scratched his head. "Hm... that might be good. Although I might be a little embarrassed with karaoke..." he confided, sheepishly. They were just finishing, and they were already making plans for the next one! It was taking him all of his temperance to keep from thinking about the unresolved paradox of Fuukami-san. Her smile feels like another compliment. Maybe I'm allergic to compliments or something. In a good way... maybe?

"Very well then. Again, goodbye."

He watched her retreating figure, the pink-haired girl with the double tresses, vaguely wondering if he should walk home or stay a little more... he wondered if he should have offered to come, even part of the way, even if she did expressly say it was not required... he wondered... what she thought of this little meeting.

Maybe only later on will I find... if this was a date or not.

Sorry for the shortness, i'm a little out of it. X.X

After shuffling around the room while the "patient" is changing, I manage to find a water boiler in a corner, and a box of tea bags in a cabinet, which I only half-expected to find. It was my instinct to have a hot drink immediately after being exposed to something very cold, such as torrential rain or snowy weather. Looks like I get lucky... again.

When waiting for the water to boil completely, Kazue tells me that they did cross paths, and comes up with a question of her own.

"Oh, I'm just curious." That answer to Kazue's question is kind of like a knee-jerk reaction, slipping out of my tongue in only about half a second. It's not untrue, though. I really want to know why she treats that guy like a person she trusts, unlike me. "From the way you two interact, I guessed you've met each other before."

I wonder how she will feel if she finds out the one who set up that childish prank was the guy just outside the door. Will she get upset? Or will she forgive him? Judging from her tone when talking to him, she may do the latter. She seems to be kindhearted enough not to reprimand him. Even so, I think she met him in a totally different circumstance than mine. In addition, from the way I met her some days before, she seems to be a loner, and that boy may be one of her few friends.

That guy, who looks like a troublemaker, really needs help. To change that attitude of his and be more considerate of others. Kazue may see some good in him, but that attitude of his cannot be left unchecked. Especially after his scheme of petty revenge claims an unintended victim. I still think there is some good in him, as the forefathers said every human being has his/her own inherent goodness, but there's no way he can be "good" with that kind of behavior. Maybe I should keep an eye on him. It... it is not for his sake alone, of course. It's also for a better learning environment and healthier relationship among the students of our class.

So, finding out more about his relationship with Kazue may give me more clues about him.

And, almost forgot, I have to make sure that my clothes fit her, especially since my frame is on the petite side.

"Oh, do you have any problems with that uniform?" I casually call out. "Are you sure you can walk around for the rest of the day with it?"

Words that were so easily spoken should not have been; words that seemed so cruel to say to oneself in other's eyes seemed filled with such strong emotion from him. The strands of her hair bent and twisted as she shifted. Curiosity tugged at her conscious as to why those words seemed so...

'Lonely...'

The word left a lingering echo; a disturbing one. Kazue believed that there was always a little bit of good inside of everyone; whether that person was young, old, big, or even small there was always good in that person somewhere. There's always the challenge of finding that goodness - that light - and channeling it through in a positive manner.

Despite those that treat others the way they do, she still believed that.

She felt that she could relate to Karu in a way. There was something there that he resonated; a soft tinge of loneliness and pain that she could relate to. Life and Fate can be cruel in the very wake of day and night. No matter where one could go there is always a sign of them around somewhere. Whether it be following a specific individual, or blending over the town, it never left.

Kazue was a certain victim to it lately.

Anzu's voice pricked at her ears signaling the fellow classmate's return. A slightly crumpled up winter uniform was in her grip. A mental note was made quickly to return said outfit whenever Kazue got the chance to. It was the least she could do after all that has happened. Soon Karu was ushered to exit the premises.

For a small moment the freshman forgot why before feeling the slight touch of a damp skirt. With a slight tint of pink from embarrassment the girl intertwined her arms and simply hunched her shoulders. It was embarrassing to admit that she forgot she was even wet. Daring to gaze up the blonde had caught notice of Karu's wink with his comment: "I'm not a shark. I'm a person," With a slight breath of a laugh the door was shut, and with Anzu turning to her the clothes were being offered.

Slowly Masumi released the embarrassed hold from before, and stretched her arms out to grab the clothing.

"Once you done drying yourself up completely, give me the towel, alright? I'll see if I can make you some tea."

Anzu's instructions were clear. With a nod of her head she placed the dry clothing on a bed, carefully tugged at the pure white curtains, and paced around the bed until Kazue was separated from view. It was to be a quick process; at least that's what she had hoped for.

"Say, you and that guy, do you know each other?"

Just as Kazue had started the girl couldn't help but feel her light blue irises shift to the back of the curtains at the question. It was sudden yet keeping her calm demeanor the freshman replied slowly returning to her usual self. "You could say that. We've crossed paths once or twice." she replied as she slipped off her shoes.

"Why do you ask, Kirishima-san?"

After returning to the training room, the exercises continue.

Being the benevolent president as she is, she was worried that the uniform she borrowed could get dirty. I had to assure her that the only thing she should do is being our guest, and besides, it's just one uniform. I won't even mind washing it myself if ordered to do so. Everything for the fair lady.

Even though this is the usual routine, somehow it feels really different today. My mind is filled with anticipation. I can't wait to see our lovely student council president in an aikido outfit. I heard she actually wore something similar before when being challenged by the school's karate club, but couldn't see it with my own eyes. A warrior princess like her will definitely look good in any kind of combat-related outfit. Even a kendo or archery uniform will probably suit her. Now I understand why every sports team in our school has tried to recruit her. Procuring a member with exceptional athleticism and beauty like her, their popularity alone can skyrocket and attract even more new members. And that's just one of many benefits of having that awesome girl in your group.

Guess I'm not so different from them... I'm technically doing the same thing. Even though I never explicitly stated that she should join this dojo, I am "advertising" this martial art to her.

And... here she comes. Perfect. Just perfect. A masterpiece. That ponytail she decided to put on, really gives the vibes of a bona fide action girl, just like in various works of fiction, especially the anime heroines I like. The uniform, while being quite loose, still manages to accentuate her athletic figure. She has truly exceeded my expectations. If she decides to become a martial-arts-oriented actor like Bruce Lee, her popularity will definitely be off the charts. She can even do her own stunts, given her inherent fearlessness, which I witnessed during that incredible battle with the biker gang.

After the exercise routine, it's time to split up in pairs for combat/self-defense training. One does various moves such as punching or kicking, the other has to counter accordingly. We only do it with our bare hands today. Other sessions also have weapons involved. This kind of training does not just help us familiarize with many possible combat situations in real life, but also make our bodies stronger, more flexible and our minds more alert. This makes me wonder. I have to go through lots of training like this to reach my current level, but Sakagami-san said she never had any. And yet she is so strong, and her techniques are nearly flawless. As if she was born with them. As if she is a superhuman. How on Earth did she manage to reach that kind of level?

What do you think keeps people from going wild?

Everyone faces obstacles in life. Pain. Loneliness. Death. Nobody can truly escape from the trials and tribulations that life seems to hand us. For as much as people have the capacity to love... so too do they have the capacity to hate. To lose themselves in a never-ending tunnel so narrow and constricting that time only seems to squeeze harder and harder, overwhelming them completely and leaving them lost without hope of escape. It warps the their reality to the point where that tunnel becomes their whole world. It manipulates emotions. Changes goals. Skews the clear path they were walking when the world was not confined to a tunnel... and a truly happy ending no longer seems possible. They become lost.

But why? Why do people get lost? How do people allow these obstacles to stop them from appreciating and enjoying the beauty of life? What is it that causes some to be forever lost in a world of torment and confusion while others seems to surpass and exceed and continue growing and learning and... living? Are some of us simply born stronger? More resilient? With more emotional stability? Or perhaps... the answer is something different all together. Something we all seek. We all need. We all depend on that constantly gives us the strength and stability to live our life to the fullest. Perhaps the answer is simply...

The answer I found is "family."
